Good ideas op. I think that the 50 silver for one run per day was actually a buff as after that the silver reward is about 16 plus loot. I ran ac story three times today as I was leveling my 55 ranger and most of the people I played with were under 1000 ap so new players are continuing to come. Strangely on the level 55 ranger I got a lvl 80 exoticstaffas a drop while in ac story. Monsoon staff. Never had that happen before.

Not sure when you get access to these slot skills or even remember what they are called sry:

1. Signet with the lightening symbol on it which gives speed buff but more importantly blinds they enemies around you. Blind blocks their next outgoing attack.

2. The slot skill which blocks the next few incoming attacks. Looks like an orange bubble around you when activated.

3. The slot skill which turns your next five attacks into critical hits.

In my opinion.

Example: You are using dagger/dagger and are in fire. You gather up a bunch of mobs and cause them to gather around you. You cast the ring of fire combo field then switch to earth. You then cast the knock down stomp which will combo off the fire ring and give you might. Right away cast earth number 5 that earth shatter thing. While it is getting ready to go off you use the slot skill that grants critical hits. Use your blocking bubble especially if the mobs can knock you down. Boom!

Something like that.

Oh ya. The weapon upgrade sigil which each time you kill something gives you a damage bonus up to 25 stacks.

From the perspective of the player described below this game is not grindy.

Plays 3 hours per week roughly.
Just now dinged 80 on his main.
Nearly completed his personal story.
Does not even know what a daily is other than sometimes a chest pops up.
Has done ac 2/3 and story modes up to lvl se.
Intends to do a dungeon path once per week and only each dungeon path once so finished spring of 2014.
Once he hit 80 I used visa to gear him in exotics.

This is my kid and I have no intention of him grinding kitten all. He has me guiding him away from grinding. Myself Ive played way too much. Grinding is a choice.

Yes after a thousand or more hours it will feel like a grind. Again choice.

I was thinking along the line of a back piece set like the dragon wings. But what you suggested does look good and would do the trick. Thank you.

Did a search for “wing” and “wings” and nothing came up. That cant be right.

Suggest nymph wings and the like for the plant race of players. Ive seen a few where the player has done a pretty nice job of making their character look like a fairy or sprite. I thunk a set of those types of wings would round their look out nicely.

Make your own group or fund a different game. Or better yet find something challenging to do in real life. There are those who skydive out of perfectly good air plane and those who wonder why. Just not going to understand each other. Why would someone climb a mountain when you can ride the tour bus to the top? Some climb mountains and some ride the bus. Some like to stand in one spot and press the number 1 button. Such is their level of skill.

Yes it would be a big hit and would generate a lot of income for Anet. Expect to see race change coming to a gem shop near you soon.

Every time I see the title of this post I think bad thoughts. I guess that is the level that I am at.

Before the spider queen stack became common the amount of rage quits at the spider was 3/5. Stacking and standing on the stairs for path1 exist because frustrated players discovered them out of desperation. Personally I hate stacking (except where the guardian pulls them in ect.) and stair standing and do not pug that place anymore. But perhaps it is too hard for new players without using infantile mode. Will I receive an infraction for that?

In the space of about 15 seconds. On one hand what does it hurt to go with the flow and not disrupt the chain. On the other who cares what they say in chat. I know I dont. Kill it if you want to. What are they going to do? Phone your mom?

I have a logitech as well. It does the job. I tried a razer of some sort with a bunch of buttons on the left side for a couple of days. I dont know how those players use the mouse to move and steer without touching those buttons unintentionally. Perhaps if I had given it more time.

It would be nice if a legendary weapon did something other than sparkle. Maybe have a rare chance of downing a boss in one swing or ten wvw players in one blow.

Be a wus and go full power/vitality/toughness in my opinion. This is what I put my kids in and it just makes the run so much smoother when they are not downed all the time. We have done ac/cm/ta/se story modes and ac path 2/3.

Not sure when your warrior gets Immune to Pain. I think it is called that and it makes you take no damage for a few seconds. In ac your wifes thief will always steal fear when stealing from a ghost. Ghosts stop hitting you when they are running away. That second boss you mentioned is Lt Kholer I believe. You do not have to keep beating yourself to death on him if you dont want to as he is an optional boss.

I suggest ac path 3. A couple generous players should be able to get you guys through that easily. You are doing it on hard mode fyi as it really is easier in a lvl 80 with all your traits and skills unlocked. Do the story modes for sure as you are leveling as the first time through they give you 3/4 of a level on top of any xp you got on the way.

Light classes need more trench coat options.

I think that the only gem store item price I might have some sympathy on are extra character slots. Need bank space? Make a guild and get a guild bank. Totally free. Nah I do have a bit of sympathy as I seem to recall buying my first bank or character slot at a rate of 20 silver per 100 gems. Imo if you have the rl money just buy the gems and kick anet a couple bucks. Despite complaining about some things Gw2 really does give a kitten load of cintent for the purchase price of 60 bucks. Be nice to yourself and get some nice things from the gem shop. Dont grind for it unless you like to grind. You deserve it. If you go to a movie theatre do you get some popcorn? I cannot comprehend spending that much money for an hours entertainment and then balking at buying gems when we all spend hours and hours here.

Truth Ive purchased over 5000 gems with ingame gold including the upgrade to the deluxe version of the game. Just $40 dollars of rl money spent on gems so far.

I respect your steadfast refusal to use the external website. The dungeons are not going anywhere they will still be around when the lfg tool finally comes in. Im expecting it to be better than the external website and to somehow enable players who are not actively looking for a group at the moment to see an lfg, think it sounds like fun, and then join, leaving the farmers to themselves to farm. I watched one episode of Survivor. One too many! Reality tv is a plague! Imagine a reality mmo LoL. Ya so much fun it would be to come home from work, log into my character and then go back to work. Yippee!

I use the external website but have high hopes that the anet lfg tool will kick kitten. Hopes are based on the super fun box which was pretty super amazing. Access to super fun box should be a gem store item btw like the box o fun.

Nobody told you anything yet? Run ac explorables path 1 and 3 with path 3 being the easiest. Use your frost bow#4, staff fire#5, and fiery greatsword elite to burn down burrows. Also do SE path 3 but no need of frost bow. Use the gold you earn to buy zerker gear off the tp. Of course run cof as well if you can. I dont see a problem as long as you dont try and join speed run cof groups.

Someone else can give you a build. I dont want to screw you up as I just do my own thing.

Same as what was said above. State what kind of run you want when making your lfg. Fir some groups it just took everything they had even make it to the final boss and if standing on the stairs is what they need to do then that is fine. In the end I just dont want to deny anyone that cool feeling when they finish it.

Blame Anet for crappy dungeon designs that can be beat so easily not the players imo.

Thank you for some really solid ideas on how to utilize my pets better. Especially devourer, spider, and using #1 while on passive to activate their special skill which seemed so random before. At work now but cant wait to try it out.

When I am playing with my family which makes us a group of four and we need a fifth I have zero tolerance for bad attitude. I will not subject them to kitten from some random internet guy. Bad or inexperienced player no problem as we are inexperienced as well. It is your time and your party kick at will.

Now from the perspective of the pug sometimes I wonder from what planet the guild is from. But I keep my mouth shut. Except for the time they all died on the last boss and one of them started on me about not rallying them (revive before dead I mean) and it just struck me the wrong way. So I left party with the final boss only needing two or three more hits. Eat that I thought lol.

Keep it coming guys thanks. Note it is story mode dungeons only for this hunter till he is 80. He has done ac and cm a few times now. Ive done every path except for Arah so he is not going in totally cold.

Lvl 40. So far I have only been using my pets for their #2 skill and the “protect me” slot skill. What else should I be doing with them. I do dungeons and a little wvwvw.

I was incredibly lucky there was some sort of truce last night and got it on first try. Bragging didn’t even watch a guide on it pretty easy actually lol. Lies I fell down lots and had to kill a couple people but made it. All I got was a bunch of stupid badges no blueprints or anything. I think they weren’t people but bots they was so dumb. Some enemy were cool and would just mind their own business. Thank you to those guys!

I am a proponent of running with new players but even I like a run that goes quickly and smoothly once in a while. Sometimes it is nice when I am the one who sucks then I know that I am in a good group and I learn some stuff.

That reminded me of a question I had. I had found a group willing to take my lvl 28 hunter with them into ac story mode and although I was getting the wondrous bags I could not see or loot the chests even though I saw the other players running over to where it should have been. The chests did show up on the minimap though. Not really the same thing I know.

I dont go to this dungeon anymore because it is not challenging due to stacking (which is not an exploit but I find boring and too easy) and spots where the boss cannot hit you.

And like many others have probably done each path over a hundred times literally.

If it is just a group of friends who are probably only going to do each path once they are not going to notice anything and will have fun doing it. Which is probably how this game was meant to be played.

Dont really know what I am talking about but

24 hrs x 4 ticks/hr x 7 days x 18 camps x 5? points per camp = a heap of points or about 80,000 points. Not fair to dismiss those people capping camps.

Blue how I hate you so. Heaps of stuff sold to vendors and salvaged. It feels like I am standing in a boiler room heaving shovel after shovel of trash into the furnace. That is what loot is to me here.

Probably best to not take a tower ect that is in team A territory but has been captured by team B when you are team C. You want your two opposing teams consuming time and people fighting each other.

I can confirm that before the patch I could change utilities while in ghost form. I would change the ice bow to something else after the burrows were all done. Havent tried since the patch though.

That " potion of ascolonian mages" ,sorry no idea how to spell it, used to allow me to use my utilities but would not let me change them

It is supposed to be possible to level up quick via crafting. Since you are new you would likely have to buy gems and then convert them to in game gold. I have never leveled by crafting so if you try it be sure to read up on it and follow the guides which tell you exactly what to do, what to buy, and what and how many of each thing to craft.

This is what I do. First I will do all the hearts, challenges, vistas, poi and exploration of the starting map of my race. At some point it is possible that part of the map will out level me so I then switch to another races starting map so that it is easy again.

To quickly go to another race’s starting map you need to get to the hub city called Lion’s Arch. In Lion’s Arch there are portals to each of the races home cities. Each home city is attached to that races starting map. A quick way to get to Lion’s Arch is to enter WvWvW by clicking on the icon in the upper left of your screen that looks like a little castle. Then click “enter wvwvw” and choose the Eternal Battlegrounds. Unless there is a waiting list to get in (probably only on Friday Saturday and maybe Sunday) you should get teleported there. Then look for the giant round pink portal. It will be near a few other portals of different colors and will be larger than the rest. Go through that and you will find yourself in Lion’s Arch standing near a bunch of portals. These are not the portals you want. From there you need to head straight north over a bridge to a round area with a giant water fountain in the middle. Actually right now I think it is not a fountain but a holo projector that is projecting a dragon into the sky. Look up. Now head west and you should find the cluster of portals that lead to all of the races home cities.

Be sure to go back to any unfinished maps and get 100% completion on them.

WvWvW can be great for leveling but I think it works best if you can get into a large zerg that is running around capping stuff. Look for a commander icon on the wvwvw map and head for that.

Once I hit lvl 30 I like to do the story mode dungeons as they become available. First time through each you get about 3/4 of a level plus ex for killing stuff. After that I think it is 1/4 of a level per run.

That should keep you busy. Hope my info is correct and that I didn’t ruin anything for you.

Some siege spots could be hit with 1200 plus the blast radius of cluster bomb. I wonder if those siege can be hit by anything now.

Do they really change the outcome of the match at all? I don’t think so. Some guy that is a waste of time to kill I ignore him. If he kills me I wp and carry on my way. Whatever.

The type of weapon you have in your hands determines how you channel the elements and what effect they have. That isnt really correct it is just how I chose to make sense of it role playing wise. So no you cannot hold any old weapon type in your hands and use whatever group of spells that you want. If yoy want to use a spell that comes from a focus you are forced to use a focus even though they are a bit ugly.

Go to your character screen and follow the options on the left till you get to the one which will show your traits (you get your first trait point at level 11) your slot skill (number 6-0 hotkeys) and the third choice which shows what each weapon does.

I believe that you want to use staff in order to get the long range and cc that you want. Dont forget to use all of the elements. So staff fire spells has one called flaming retreat which causes you to move backwards a distace very quickly. Good for escaping. Staff earth had a bubble which reflects projectiles. Lightening has a spell that will push an enemy away from you. Water can put a heal over time spell on you and drop a patch of ice which slows enemies. To mention a few. Lots are ground targeting spells so you need to be able to continue moving while also placing the spell where you want. Good luck.

Also try out the combos that you can do solo. Example casf earth #2 spell (which is a combo finishet with a delay) then cast fire #2 right on top of it. When the earth #2 goes off it will put the boon “might” on you and anyone else who is nearby.

Zindrix. I agree with you 100%. Read the kitten post people. When it says experienced or whatever the poster wants and you join when you know you shouldnt it is you being the kitten not the poster. If you do that they have every right to yell at you.

I dont think anyone mentioned not using the bubble. Unless you meant while stacking in the corner of the pillar when the party will often leave grast dead back with the breeders.

Imo your frustration comes from being as a dd ele pegged into melee range. Your frustration is understandable. I think it could be too much if a dd ele swapped to staff just after using ride the lightening to escape and continued to dps you so reasons like that are why ele does not have swap. Possibly anet could be kind and give pve weapon swap but I doubt it.

It is part of the challenge of learning to play ele better. Sorry for all I know you are an awesome ele no insult intended. Unlike other classes who have weapon swap an ele is forced to learn one weapon set at a time. A warrior might switch between bow an gs a number of times during a fight and learn both weapons at once. An ele is forced the first time using staff to go into the encounter cold without the crutch of a familiar weapon to fall back on. An ele is forced to make the most of what you have and to learn every nook and cranny of what it can do. What is the other class without weapon swap? engineer? Forgot about him….must buy another character slot. I imagine it is the same for them.

If you kill the AC path 3 boss without stacking please describe how you do it and any special things that you do with your class to make it easier.

How I do it is to just stand in the side of the bubble opposite the boss and range attack. That way I dont get knocked out of the bubble. As well I put health regen on the npc when it is available. Putting the target symbol over the npc makes it easier to keep track of where the bubble is going to be. If most of my party is dead the npc is going to die before the boss does so having everyone in my party putting out dps is essential.

I do not kill it without stacking often but we did do it without stacking a few times recently and iy seemed to go well. Other than the time most of the party was dead as it was their first time and they just ran out to boss without a clue hehe.

Perhaps I have been lucky recently since the npc had been putting his bubble up reliably. I remember when the patch first came out he would sometimes attack when it would really have been better for him to bubble. What with the entire room full of insta kill red circles and all. Is this still happening and if so what can you do about it?

There is probably a relatively small number of players running cof1 over and over again. The run is over so fast that those same players quickly reappear on the lfg site. Same ones over and over again. These are not the players that you are looking for. The players you want are out doing other things and are not even looking at your post on gw2lfg. Try checking in the maps of other zones and LA as well as putting your post stating what you want to do and how you want to or not to do it. There are lots of people playing this game they are just doing other things. You would be a bit funny too if you were running cof1 for the 1000 time. Probably would have been a bit funny before as well.
