A tip, turn off double tap to dodge in your options and bind a handy key to dodge. The double tap to dodge feature is horrible and sometimes makes you fall of ledges when you try and take it slow i.e tapping along. And there will eventually be alot of ledges you can fall off.

And yes, pick up a staff for your necro, aswell as a scepter and a dagger for your second weapon set. They work really great together and offer you alot of AoE bleeds/poisons/cripples/chills/weakness along with blinds and condition removals/transfers.

Using a simple 3 button mouse and a Zaitek Cyborg v5 keyboard (regular keyboard with background light, good weight to it, so it stays in its place). I dont need more for GW2 or other games I play.

What is important is that the hardware you use fits your body. I’ve bought several different types of mice and keyboards and many have just collected dust or taken a trip to the closest recycling station. I need the right type of mouse aswell as the right height/slope on my keyboard and its buttons. If you dont get something that fits you, you will end up with wrist, arm and neckpains, thats just how it is.

A good suggestion is, never order keyboards or mice online, unless you have used the same type before and have been happy with it. It’s important to test them out before buying.

@Xavori.3768: But it does matter, that is the point. If you run with lower levels, thats your choice, you can see who is lower than 80 and chose not to group with them. However, people cant see if you wear MF gear on the spot, so there is no way they can know before starting the dungeon.

Also, if you run with lower levels, the groups survival or dps would increase alot if you field zerkers or knight gear, because both would significantly raise your threat, helping the less geared/leveled people to survive better. Here zerkers would be better since it also increases the groups damage.

Another thing is, I dont mind running with lower levels, thats not an issue, they dont chose to be lower levels. But a MF player activly picks lesser stats for their own benefit, they have the option to field the best gear for their group but decide not to and let others carry a heavier weight.

A thing the Pro-MF users keep bringing up is the “what if” factor, which oddly enough only applies to Non-MF groups. Like people having to go afk, miss a dodge, wipe on boss and so on.

Thing is, it applies to both types of groups and it has the same impact. However when it happens in MF group you are already at a setback, no matter how you look at it, things will be slower with one or more MF persons in group.

MF doesnt contribute to a group setup, it doesnt make you mysteriously better at avoiding other incidents. So stop assuming only bad things happen in a regular group. MF is a setback no matter what.

@Xavori.3768: But it isnt practical. The benefit you get from MF towards drops doesnt match the loss of other stats. MF brings very little, you get almost the same amount of loot without it. The bonus is minimal when the loot revolves around RNG. Mostly you still have a 95% fail chance on getting anything above the ordinary.

So all you do is increase that minimal chance to a slightly higher chance, which is still a very minimal chance. It also doesnt effect chests, which makes it even more worthless and totaly pointless on boss fights.

.2% is still greater than .1%.

Because I only run her on easy dungeons, there is not noticeable effect on time that is greater than what a couple bad dice rolls from the RNG could do. In fact, the RNG plays a much greater role in how long an AC run takes an average group than pretty much anything else. All it takes is for an excessive number of scavengers to spawn, or a boss to get lucky and fire off the big charged attack right after someone was forced to burn all their endurance, and you’ve added 2-3 minutes minimum to the fight by dealing with a downed teammate during which neither the downed player nor the person saving them is doing any damage at all.

Again, tho, I get that people have this emotional reaction, and I’m totally okay with that. Just make sure to post “no MF” in gw2lfg or when you’re calling in Lion’s Arch, and I’ll run a non-MF toon. (unless it’s AC or fractal 10 in which case I’ll just wait for another group…those are so easy there’s no point in running them if you’re not maximizing the return on your time)

You still only get use of it on trashmobs and boss drops, most of which are skipped due to horrible loot chance in the first place (except in fractals). The chests that actually have the “good” loot is uneffected, rendering it useless on boss kills more or less, since the good loot comes from the chest, not the boss.

And your difference in useful stats is much greater than the few % you mention. Since you have 5 tinkets, 1 weapon set and a full armor. At 80 that is (in top gear) 75-85% crit damage and a load of power if you compare zerker to MF gear, both with runes/jewels and food.

Then compared to a condi user you lose out on alot of crit chance, condi and survivability if you compare a proper condi set to the MF version.

IMO they need to add an inspect option that shows a players MF%.

Ok, while you did state IYO, that is fine but I will disagree with you, it will just add tensions between players. Never has this brought people closer together and it always creates arguments between players and stat-obsessed players. A good theory of what will happen is that people will just carry 2 sets of armor, probably the same look and they will let you inspect, head inside the dungeon and 5 mins in just switch over to MF. Why? Because the only way to get a party is by either paying out for whatever the meta happens to be at the time and by lying about it other times. Inspecting gear does not foster community.

I’ve never said anything about gear inspection, just an inspect that tells you what a players total MF is. Something you can do off and on during your dungeon run if you like. If you dont want MF people in your group it should be your right to see who has it and who doesnt. It’s not more selfish or creates more gaps between players than MF currently does. Heck they could just add a MF% number at your character portrait in the window, give it a buff icon. No need to inspect and it would show liars in an instant as soon as they switch gear.

@xCrusadentx.2784: A good job that could have been better and within your power if you got proper gear for your spec. You said you supported your group by whatever was in your power. Still you field a gimp set that brings less than what is within your power. If you want to run a dungeon with MF gear then do it will a full group of MF people, bet your time vs reward will be well worth it.

Not even in the open world is MF worth it. To make it worthwhile, you need enough to make up for the lack of killing. Still killing speed is better because MF doesnt increase the drop chance, it just increases the chance the item will have higher quality if the mob drops something.

I’m still having a hard time figuring out how people can defend magic find gear in fractals and dungeons. They intentionally get a full set knowing it only benefits them while reducing their survivability and damage thus increasing the time to complete a run.

What difference in time? You mean the fact my MF warrior is more efficient than the average ‘other’ warrior you could get?

On my MF warrior in head to toe MF exotics, it’s likely you’ll complete most dungeons faster than on my hammer-shouts warrior who is also head to toe exotics because my MF warrior has much better DPS and doesn’t need the extra toughness and vitality my tank has for most dungeons.

My MF warrior also likely has better stats than the average AC pug or 20 and below fractal player because she is head to toe exotics rather than mixing in some yellows or even greens and blues.

I’m also a very solid player who knows all the dungeons I run her in. You’d lose more time by taking an average player versus me.

Now sure, high level fractals or some of the Arah paths, no MF. But when a normal party is such overkill for the difficulty of the rest of the dungeons, why not maximize the return on time invested (and yes, I’d happily run AC explore in a party of 5 warriors in exotic MF gear)?

You think highly of yourself. I can safely say, I’m not suprised you wear MF kind when you go on boasting like that about your own skill.

Modesty goes a long way.

IMO they need to add an inspect option that shows a players MF%.

Im strongly against the inspection mechanic, but im kitten off by People that use MF gear on party.

For me the real solution is simply extend the MF bonus to all the party members(or maybe add a % of your bonus to the rest of the group, and not the full bonus), so in any case you add something to the group.

Agreed I hate inspect, but in MFs case its needed.

Adding MF to the rest of the group solves nothing, its still a very bad stat that offers nothing over pure combat stats. If someone contributes with a whooping 20% MF I rather just 4 man the place or wait a few minutes and find a properly geared 5th person.

I can live without that low extra MF because it will not make any difference.

I run MF gear, get some more decent loot from baby mobs in dungeons, not very good, but better crap loot lets say. I go with my group and kick kitten I don’t go down as often as teammates, I deal high burst damage and always remain on task. So what if I lose one stat using it? I know how to play the game, and do everything to support my team that is in my power. The problem is the player, not the stat. By this logic I hear, you’re automatically a better player (skill and tactics-wise) if you don’t run MF, which doesn’t make sense and is wrong. As long as you know what you’re doing, you can run a dungeon with full MF and Pirate Runes. Teamwork, not an individual’s stats, make all the difference.

It’s not high burst damage in MF and 30% crit damage.

And actually yes it does make you a better player if you dont pick the MF stat, since it shows that you arent selfish , that you want to add the most to the group and that you have understood what a waste MF is.

You say in your post that you know how to play the game and that you do everything to support your team that is within your power. Well, no you dont, you might know how to play the game, but fielding MF gear is a contradiction to your other statement. You dont do everything within your power to support the group, you failed doing that the second you didnt put on your spec specific gear.

Why pick a MF wielder over a properly geared person? No matter what, he will preform worse in his spec compared to if he was properly geared, doesnt matter which role hes there as, it will still be sub par.

IMO they need to add an inspect option that shows a players MF%.

You have no argument to make me support MF, because it gives me nothing if you wear it.

So if I wear Cleric(healing, power, toughness) an only use self heal skills(no party wide heals) I’m more helpful than a magic find guy? How? I’m doing less damage than a guy with explorer due to lack of precision and the only thing I’m doing better is tanking. Yet no amount of toughness and vitality would make someone survive a 1 shot kill hit from a boss. Doing less damage means I’m slowing down my party even more than a magic find guy, yet people hate them more.

Removing magic find wont solve anything. People will then say: you have too much toughness and vitality. Get a berserker gear and learn to dodge because otherwise you’re slowing us down.

Actually, he would help his group far more. He wears healing power along with toughness and power, granting him much much more survivability than any MF person could have, all while still having decent offensive power. He also brings alot of aggro to the table due to healing bonuses and toughness.

And there are no 1 shot kill bosses really if you have high toughness, unless you are really slow to react (legendary grawl shammy after bubble breaks). There are however plenty of bosses that would one shot a MF geared player or a berserker player. Still the berserker player has much more damage output, a trade off for offensive power over staying power.

MF users just dont preform at an optimal level for whatever they wanna do. MF soaks up a vital stat for a very minimal selfish gain. The stat is worthless. As I said before, people just dont know how to calculate their effective MF bonus so they think they have a super high chance of getting more loot. While in the end, your chance to find rarer loot is still very low.

Pres/tough/condi gear IMO i.e Rabid gear. Add undead runes on that and Rabid stat rings, neck, cloak and ear rings.

This will give you high survivability, high condition damage (1600 without buffs). I run it on my necro and it works great in both WvW and PvE.

0/30/20/20/0 spec, using scepter+dagger and a staff. People bleed out very fast, you have a steady application of both bleeds and poison from scepter#1, then you have utilities and condition transfers ontop of that.

The hate for magic find makes no sense. People just need something to put the blame on if something goes wrong. “Oh, we all died at that boss? Yeah, lets blame the guy with Sigil of Luck. If he had a different sigil we would have survived.”

Now, really if we’re going to hate magic find gear for having less power then why not hate every single type of gear apart from berserker? What if someone uses gear with vitality, toughness and healing? He does less damage, he dies less(so he pays less for repairs) and does less damage. Why is magic find special?

1. Why would you use Sigil of Luck if you dont wear other MF? 0.6×25=15%, You just wasted a perfectly fine upgrade slot on your weapon. And actually, Sigil of Blood would make you survive better and deal more damage at the same time. Or you could pick up the group heal sigil and benefit more to your group.

2. A guy with supportive stats fills a role, lets say a warrior based around shouts and defensive stats. He does an exceptional job at helping people stay alive through his shouts while being able to take a hit. I have one in my regular fractal group, and I just love him. Put the same guy there with MF gear, his heals would be useless, his damage would be worthless, his survivability would be null and void.

The minimal gain towards drops that MF gives makes it a waste. In all honesty all it does is prove that you are a selfish player that really doesnt have a clue how MF work. It’s a regular thing I see in chat, both map chats aswell as some guilds I’ve been in. People getting high MF only to see no real difference.

They see 200% MF and think they’ll get drops on every mob more or less. When infact all they did was double their chance to find a rare, if the mob decides to drop anything at all.

4% chance to drop, add 200% MF on that and all of a sudden you have a whooping 8% chance to get it. Wow, amazing drop chance, only a 92% chance to fail.

Greatsword or staff ?

IMO sword+pistol is indeed crap. The staff serves a much better purpose than a S+P or Sc+P set, the warlock hits for as much as the duelist crits for, plus you dont need to waste a trait to get the staff skills to acceptable CDs/range, its already there. Sure if you go for a condition spec traiting staff is useful.

If I was condition specced I wouldnt mind the focus, but for me as a heavy crit build balanced around phantasms and shatters its just awfully painful to use it. Maybe S+F would be cool and all if it wasnt for the fact I need to get within 600 yards to use S#2 in order to root people on my warden. S#2, the skill that sometimes works and spawns a clone.

"Static Discharge" nerfed?

in Engineer

Posted by: SneakyErvin.3056

SneakyErvin.3056

Actually, bounces might be EXACTLY what the devs mean, if you are to take their stated reasoning as truthful (a stretch, I know).

The devs said that the problem was that some AoE was doing more single-target damage than single-target abilities could do.

Now, what happens to a target that has a very damaging bounce hit him, hit something else then bounce back? Double damage. That sound like any engineer ability we know? Something beginning with the word “Static” and ending in “Discharge”?

Still not an AoE attacks. Bounce does not mean AoE, bounce is bounce.

Bounce attacks are based around a set damage than can be achieved with optimal bouncing i.e hitting only 2 targets so one or both get double hit (depends on number of bounces). Real AoE deals a massive amount of damage after they are cast (no bleeds does not count since they have a fixed stack value and cap at 5 players).

LB5 and Meteor Shower deals damage for a period of time after they finish casting, meaning the ranger/mentalist can deal other damage while the AoE deals damage. Big difference from other spells.

There is no real way they can nerf bleed, burn or poison AoEs, since they dont deal damage nearly as powerful as that of ranger or mentalist AoE.

SneakyErvin.3056

iWarden is our most beastly AoE phantasm. The iBerserker is good, but it can’t hold a candle up to the iWarden’s damage.

Luckily the iWarden is on the focus which houses a cripple and a pull ability. Very easy to mob up/disable groups of enemies.

However, against single targets, like boss fights, the iWarden’s overall dps (even if the boss sits still) is lower than the iDuelist and the iWarlock.

You need to be a really bad player to get stuck with the iWarden and let it do its damage. It’s damage is just slow and he never follows a target. And the only reason a berserker wouldnt be able to hold a candle up to the warden is due to all the flailing the warden does, it would blow out the poor candle.

Although I hope your post was full of sarcasm.

If they just fix the stacking issue and maybe buff the swiftness duration on focus along with a useful phantasm I wouldnt mind using focus. But right now the focus is pretty much just useful for pulling cluless people down from walls and such.

The phantasm is a joke, a bad one at that.

Make the swiftness duration to CD ratio more inline with guardian staff. They cant really shorten the CD due to the extra pull effect, but they could buff the duration to the same uptime % of a non-traited guardian staff#3. I’m fine with my guardian and no perma swiftness, but then again the staff brings alot of nice options aswell. Not only am I forced to grab a focus, I’m forced to grab a lackluster mainhand aswell.

Other than that, add it to a mantra or a seal or make a new mantra/seal, either would be the most similar to other classes speed seals. Or like Crossplay said, add it to blink, that would be preferable.

Greatsword or staff ?

SneakyErvin.3056

If I were you I’d go with staff+gs, but it all depends on your build.

If you go with a power+crit heavy build around phantasms and shatters, both weapons compliment eachother amazingly. GS however isnt something worth using with a condition spec. If you go for a more confusion based condition spec, use staff+scepter/focus.

Outside of condition builds focus is just trash besides skill #4, and that skill is good for covering ground or pulling people down from things.

For a power+crit build the staff and GS phantasms just hit like freight trains. Dont listen to the people that say staff is a condition weapon, it’s just as good as a direct damage weapon. You staff clones stack conditions so your warlock phantasm can hit harder. The rest of the skills are nice defensive skills with self executable combo fields and finishers, both from the staff itself and combined with the GS berserker.

Chaos Storm + Berserker = whirl finisher
Chaos Storm + Staff#2 = leap finisher chaos armor.

It’s also silly easy with staff+GS to stack up vulnerability to 25 stacks before you use your heavy hitting phanstams and mind wracks.

People mix up AoE with ricochet/bounce attacks.

SD, Static Shot, Mesmer GS#2, thief pistol trait, EG#2 and so on are bounce attacks, it has nothing to do with AoE.

AoE = Area of effect. The nerf will most likely only hit abilities that are groundtarget abilities. Mostly the pulsing kind, like Ranger LB#5, meteor shower from elementalists and such. They have long durations and deal alot of damage.

I think most other spells that attack more than one target will be unaffected, like necro AoE for instance.

But with meteor shower and the longbow skill you can cast them then use other skills while they still deal damage. Those are probably the things that will change.

My names are based on norsemen ,metal and WW2-

Asura Enginner – Ervin the Fixer. Ervin has been a name I’ve used since DaoC, had it on a Kibby shadowblade back then, the name comes from Erwin Rommel, the field marshal of the so called Ghost Division (7th Panzer Division) during WW2. They covered ground so quickly at the invasion of France that even the german high command lost track of their position. It been a name I’ve stuck too, always on a little people race (except in SWToR), it has that goofy sound to it, but it still sounds good.

Sylvari Mesmer – Watain Blacklight. Inspiration comes from the Swedish BM band Watain aswell as the song Watain from the band Von. Inspiration for the lastname comes from the song Legions of the Black Light.

Human Necro – Marduk Irondawn. Inspiration comes from an old diety, a character in scholomance aswell as the swedish BM band Marduk. Irondawn comes from the album Iron Dawn.

Norn Guardian – Skallagrim Kveldulv. Old norse names, cant find much better for norn characters. Been with me since DaoC. Skallagrim = Grim skull, grim helmet, bald etc. Kveldulv = Nightwolf, has been used as a word for werewolf.

Norn Ranger – Hilding Hrafnson. Old norse name. Hilding = Chieftain or kin of a chieftain. Hrafnson = Son of the Raven.

Sylvari Thief – Mithotyn the Rover. Name has been with me since DaoC, inspiration comes from the viking metal band Mithotyn and their song the Rover. It’s always been an elf-ish character, mostly a hunter or ranger. But here he turned into a thief.

I usually go with a high dps+personal survival approach when I trait.

Always pick traits that give you vigor or other endurance regen, it helps your survival by a longshot.

Example, my guardian is 0/30/30/10/0, he brings constant AoE binds and vulnerability in the process. He carries a GS and a Staff, both bring combofields aswell as nice buffs on staff 4.

I didnt bother with empowering might since crit chance is only 30%, so I chose to get as much personal damage as I could instead from the radiance 25 pointer, that syncs well with burn, blind and vulnerability, aswell as always having condition on enemies due to being in a group. If i were to go for empowering might trait I would have to give up vulnerability aswell as blinds/burn recharge on kill. The might from the skill would not make up for the 6% vulnerability debuff (for my group) or my +10% damage from conditions, I would get 10% extra damage if endurance isnt full, but dodging should be saved for defence, not for buffing offence.

Player since head start. Playing as much as I can each day, 8h+ like most people I know.

Not a Facebook user.

And yes, WoW probably has more facebook users and it probably still has 6mill+ subs, it has been up in 10mill subs. That doesnt mean GW2 has failed, it just means WoW is still the king of mainstream boredom.

So a MF holding aggro in an instance only leads me to the conclusion that he either ran with very bad players, or just had a much higher traited toughness than the rest, one of the stats that pull most aggro.

He would still be much more of a benefit to the group if he was in tanky gear or dps gear.

You do realise that sounds like you are saying that even if someone is doing the best in a group that they need to be in the “perfect” armour set to be acceptable? No matter what you point is, no matter how valid it is, you just demolished any chance of being taken seriously in that regard.

You might as well have just said “If you’re not wearing the perfect gear then you’re a leeching gimp”… which is my major problem with some who are arguing against MF in Dungeons.

On that point, I will be blunt… never mind how it’s screwing over the rest of the group, it’s making it harder on yourself for no reward. Only a fool would insist on using MF in a Dungeon.

Not sure where you got that from. All I’m saying is that no matter what, spec specific stats on your gear will make you preform better than in MF gear. Even mastercraft gear would be better than exo MF gear. Not that there is any excuse not to have a full Exo set of proper stats when hitting 80.

We also dont know how many in that group fielded MF gear or what weapons the MF “tank” used (shield raises aggro chance too). We dont know his or the rest of the groups toughness difference or anything. We dont know if they were skilled or bad etc. But as I said, if it was a good group where people knew their specs, a MF user would very likely not pull aggro. Maybe he was the top of the bottom.

It’s just disrespect to your fellow players if you field MF gear for groups, if you want to use it in dungeons, run with friends that are OK with it. I’ve sadly been in a few (too many) groups where it has really been obvious I was the only one not in MF gear. It shines through on Old Tom, Ascalon Boss, Grawl and Powersuit.

Transmutation stones Ban or no Ban?

Nope not bannable, since it actually does nothing to improve your character or gain him an unfair advantage over others. All it does is change the look and bring more diversity to the player characters in game.

You actually spend gold on it and gem store items. None of the items are profession restricted either, so its up to each and everyone to get the special look they want.

The real reason for nerfing AoE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SneakyErvin.3056

SneakyErvin.3056

I dont really have an opinion on this subject, it can be both good and bad. Some Aoe currently hits too hard and is very bugged when it somes to the red circle (meteor shower thingy from elementalists), sometimes the red ring doesnt show properly and you feel you are outside it and the spell still hits you. This could however be fixed by a bug fix. Secondly, what will happen to necro AoE damage, is it where the devs want it, and how would they go about nerfing bleed aoe in general? Maybe it is balanced since it caps at 5 targets and is a condition.

I’m sure whatever they do will work and keep balance or bring more balance, I could be wrong.

However I read that someone here was actually complaining about free world transfers going away. News flash, it wasnt supposed to be free at start even, be glad they gave you 6 months to decide on a server.

@Mirta.5029: To answer your question. It’s a selfish stat.

I’ve read through most of your posts in this thread and it doesnt matter what you say, in the end MF gimps you. It doesnt matter if you can survive without the survival stats, you still gimp your character, there is always another stat you can get instead of MF to boost your group.

If you dont need survival stats to survive you pick up more dps stats, not MF stats. Since MF doesnt benefit the group the slightest bit. Also if you are good at surviving without the survival stats and chose not to take them anyways over MF gear you are gimping your group, since if you were to wield the survival set, you would have a higher chance of holding aggro, thus helping your groups with your “immortal” bun. Or is it just that you survive better with a MF set because you never get aggro, because your toughness stats are too low and your damage is weak?

And regarding the Mastercraft vs MF users in a group. The MC user would bring more to the table than the MF user. Their stats would be lower than a Exo geared player, but not to the extent of a MF set. All the MC stats would be worth something, but the MF stat just rips valuble stat points from the gear.

Nope, an MF user, like I said, was TANKING the boss, meaning – holding aggro. This game is more about skill than anything. A skilled MF player brings a lot to the table, so why the hate when you wouldn’t notice the difference?
MC stats are worth something, but it’s 3 stats in low quantities, versus a stat that doesn’t help the team, but 2 stats that are high. A MC user would output less damage, not more.

Actually, I believe that when I see a video of it. Offensive and defensive stats have alot of influence on aggro. Just as an example, I was running around Cursed Shore last night gathering for the daily on my engi when I bump into the champion abom outside the first camp. We start out with 5 people, I do a wee bit of damage, avoid and run around, a few seconds later we are around 15-20 there, I’m doing nothing to the champ and he keeps chasing me thoughout the whole fight (speedy kits ftw). I assume most of the others were running mostly MF gear since they were event farming. It took us ages to get him down and I didnt drop aggro once. My engi is geared in zerk/valkyrie mixed gear. I barely touched him after the initial first 10-15sec.

So a MF holding aggro in an instance only leads me to the conclusion that he either ran with very bad players, or just had a much higher traited toughness than the rest, one of the stats that pull most aggro.

He would still be much more of a benefit to the group if he was in tanky gear or dps gear. MF sacrifices too much for a gain that is too small and too egoistic.

Up to fractal 9 I guess its ok to bring someone lower than 80, but bringing them to 10+ only gimps your group. They have no way to get AR and they have no use pre 80 for the rings or relics.

Even if its an alt to someone who has done it several times it still gimps the group, if someone wants gear for alts from fractals, do it on an 80 or something.

I sense it will turn into a much greater issue when the patch comes with dynamic fractal levels within the group. You can have a level 18 looking for a fractal 1 ending up in a fractal 30. I’m just glad there is a kick system.

should I give up on doing damage?

Serious as a heart attack: why do people put 30 points in the tank line and expect to be primary damage dealers?

I’m preping an article to post on my 0/30/0/20/20 “Wipe them out. All of them.” build, and I’ll tell you what shouldn’t be a secret:

You do not have thirty points to spare on defense (Valor) if you want to kill things at top speeds.

You are claiming that Virtues is more of a dps line than Valor? Virtues gives you no real bonus to dps whatsoever. Valor on the otherhand gives you much more survivability aswell as alot more damage (30% crit damage to start with).

It also gives you two nice heals AH or Monk. I’m a monk guy myself because I find meditations as utilities very useful (1200 burning charge teleport heal and a condi cleanser that deals high damage and heals for 2k+). This combined with Justice is Power, Renewed Justice, Blind Exposure, GS#3 and Radiant Power from radiance and you have a very nice damage buff.

This works much better for me as I’ve focus on a balanced damage/survivability spec. My crit isnt high enough (only 30%) to make full use of Empowering Might, but my blind instead debuff the enemy so my groupmates deal more damage (6% for 5 sec) while I myself get a 10% damage increase pretty much all the time from conditions on targets.

3200 Attack
30% crit (108% crit dmg)
17500 life
2500 armor (signet fn judgement on that)
Weapons: GS+Staff
Gear: Valkyrie/Berserk mix + Karka Shell.

Staff needs to be buffed

in Guardian

Posted by: SneakyErvin.3056

SneakyErvin.3056

I like staff on my guardian in its current form, I dont demand buffs but I’ll gladly take them.

I run a damage spec with meditation healing fully traited.

With 3.2k attack staff isnt hitting for major numbers with #1, however it does crit for around 2k with 108% crit damage. It also attacks fast and is a mid ranged weapon. #2 does hit for a nice amount. It’s just that staff is a support centered weapon, and fills that mission well no matter the spec.

It brings extra combo fields that syncs well with GS. I wouldnt mind seeing #1 range buffed to 900 yards.

Currently it does however work the way it is with my spec. I use it as a setup for greatsword aswell as a nice support weapon in group fights and PvE. It fills the same job as scepter does, but it has the addition of swiftness and combo fields that scepter lacks. Scepter is nice along with a torch though for damage.

600 range is just enough when facing melee and you need to keep some distance, however its too short if you wanna try and damage ranged who wants to keep distance to you.

@Calae.1738: Reading your post only leads me to one conclussion, you dont have a clue how many of those classes work.

Both the comments about memser and guardian aswell as the one about necros are just very much off the mark. Then regarding Engineer its a taste thing, afterall its a steampunk fantasy setting, so how do they not fit in?

No combos on guardians? What, what, what? There are plenty of self executable combos/fields on their weapons, GS alone has 4, 5 if you open up with a staff. Add traits on that and you have an even bigger system for combos, not fields and such, but actual devastating combos.

Condition damage weak? Uhm, no, since a necro can stack them very quick in high stacks. They also have very high survivability, debuffs and condition removals.

Mesmers have the easiest burst in game and still keep very high survivabilty. Critting your enemy for around 18k-20k in a few seconds is pretty sick. It requires the right gear and trait setup. Confusion is not the way to go if you wanna kill things. Get a GS and a staff, very high damage from both phantasms and your shatters. iZerker crits for around 6k, iWarlock 6-7k depnding on condition on target, add 20-25%% to both those if you open with your 20-25% vulnerability stack, 3-3.5k shatter crits. Thats alot of damage in a matter of seconds. My iWarlock got off a few 13k crits yesterday in one fractal, had some nice might stacks and such, was a fun group.

Its fun as a mesmer when you have 3 illusions out and the thief uses shadow refuge, mind wreck on the spot where he stealthed and he turns up downed when stealth breaks.

I love playing with those “level 80 snobs” those “elitist no-nonsense speed run groups”

Not only does the run go faster but I find most of the players are friendly and we’ll have interesting conversations. In fact it’s more likely since there’s less frustration from dying, wiping, and taking forever.

That doesnt make one bit of sense. He was refering to quiet, unfriendly speedruns pretty much and you describe something completely different. Thus your runs are not “level 80 snobs” or “elitist no-nonsense speed run group”. They might be speedrun groups, but they are not no-nonsense if you find friendly people to converse with during the run.

Chatting = nonsense to those people.

Personally I hate the skipping groups, maybe not so much in regular dungeons, but in fractals they are a pain in the kitten Why skip to shave off 2 minutes on the run, when those two extra minutes can net you an extra 5g or more. Thats not efficient one bit, its counter productive.

What is wrong with nudity?

i don’t have anything against it on principle, but i also don’t see what it adds other than animated porn.

This statement is so backwards. Nudity does not equal porn.

no it doesn’t, but given the nature of the internet that’s all it will be used for. what does it possibly add to anyone but a small segment of RPers? go ahead, tell me it won’t be abused.

anyway i think it’s a silly argument anyway because this is a game and it appeals to more players without it. swear filter can be turned off, nudity not so much.

How will that be abused if someone chose to use it as their “source of inspiration” so to say. It’s still not porn just because some people let off some steam to it. Or are suddenly underwear magazines porn too? Everyones mind works differently, if some people are drawn to animated things so be it, just like there are furbies and mechasexuals.

It would be easy to add an option if nudity was ingame. Just have an on and off option, thats it. If it’s turned off, underwear is displayed, if its on, skin is shown. If you see people running around naked, have nudity turned off.

some parents let there underage kids (mine is 3 and LOVES charr and yes he can walk around with it 10 minutes a day no killing just walking around as a 3 year old should) and it would be very unpleasant if off a sudden there comes a group of naked norn males and females jumping around on the screen with bouncing parts and all.

if you want nudity go play second life or get skyrim and install a nudity mod.

I think the visage of a Charr with a huge spikey armor would scar a 3 year old more than some natural human bodyparts. It’s not like he would connect either to something in the first place. He’s bound to see some of those things IRL sooner or later anyways, and hopefully it’s not a big plushy horned/fanged 8 feet kittycat with a cleaver.

But looking to the lore and the state of the civilizations within the game, running around naked in town would probably not be seen as normal. But for things not belonging to the “civilized” races, I wouldnt mind seeing more skin. Like I said harpies and demons would fit much better without tops. So would the charr, because why do the females wear a bra with no breasts? I honestly dont think I’ve ever read about or seen harpies before in any lore/game/movie where they havent been mostly naked.

Same with sylvari, they are naturally covered in bark, so I dont see why their clothes should cover anything up really, except from a combat perspective, where its just smart to cover as many areas of your body as possible.
