They said no Expansion will come to GW2..

This was not stated (unless someone can link this). LS & such are being considered as replacements to expansions, but nothing has been decided (publicly).

Can you explain why Dawn is cheaper?

It is less desirable.

But if 800g on the TP is set by how much it costs to forge it (which I believe you said), then why isn’t Dawn the same price since it maybe/likely/whoknows? has the same chance as Dusk.

Read: The prices are not necessarily reflective of the effort, on average, of forging it.

Edit: Welp I guess that’s not what he was suggesting. /shrug

Buying it on the TP is just safest. I just cannot get around the fact that I could put 2000g into the forge, and not get the precursor, where at that price I’m quickly approaching just buying the actual legendary on the TP.

Did it suck spending 565g on dawn? A bit, but it would suck more to put in twice that on the forge. Or maybe you’ll put in 10g.

The only advice we can really give is RNG is RNG. If you don’t like that, TP it.

This. When you first join just be open about the fact that you haven’t done it. If they don’t want someone inexperienced just move on to the next group. A lot of groups are happy to explain stuff if you just let them know you need it.

That player was just incredibly bad/lazy/both. CoF P1 endboss is one of the easiest bosses in the game to not get hit the entire time. But to answer your question, I guess you could….

0 seconds: from having F3 passive
10 seconds: retreat
20 seconds: F3
30 seconds: RF (with 6 runes of the monk, causing an aegis to go up)
40 seconds: F3

and that’s that. But don’t do this. Like I said, that guy is just bad.

For the T6 mats like fangs and bones etc don’t forget you can use laurels to get a heavy crafting bag which gives you 3 T6 mats. Also you will get lots when you make clovers. But ya it’s a farm still one way or another.

No, you can get a lot of them when crafting clovers…. Or, if you’re as (un)lucky as I am, you craft 77 clovers and hardly get any extra materials…

It took me over 300 ectos to get my 77 clovers, so I figured hey I’ll keep using this recipe to get T6 mats once I’m done with clovers.

So once I was done, I kept going, and 60 ectos later I had 50 more clovers.

A PvE Locker is the answer to the Skin part, they just need to upgrade the already existing achievements-tied panel to a full PvE Locker.

Oh yes I didn’t even think about that. It’d be nice if the functionality worked so you didn’t have to unequip armor —> use skin --> drag current armor piece —> say yes --> put back on, but I would 100000% take it over nothing.

Edit: And a template system would be awesome like in GW1, except it’d save stats/skin/(ideally traits if were entertaining the idea of having more easily resetable traits)/skills/dyes/weapons. But this is asking for quite a lot haha.

Solutions

  • Separate the concept of (ascended) gear crafting from the concept of equipment stat customisation. Make it easy or easier to change stats, or at the very least, to craft new copies of the same gear with different stats.
  • Add an universal build template system, and allows us to change traits on the fly (while not in battle, dungeons, etc). Creating and saving builds should be free. Loading/ changing them could still require a small money sink, if Anet feels it needs to be there.

There are some good ideas here which I would like to see us discussing as a group.

What do you all think about these ideas?

Chris

These two are something I’ve wanted to see in a game for so long. How legendaries work I think is amazing. Choosing the stats is fantastic. I wish exotics/ascended worked this way, except make it an unlocking system. Say you bought a berserker set from one of the dungeon vendors. If you buy then soldiers from another vendor, you could then select from either stats. I would like to see this extrapolated to skins as well.

Essentially what I envision is an unlocking system of skins and stats, where once you acquire a skin/stat for a armor piece, you can switch it (out of combat, maybe have a few min CD or something, idk probably needs a minor limiting factor but maybe not) to whatever you have unlocked. This is also going to open up huge potential for people to keep playing. A lot of people are 100% completionists and it’s going to take quite some time and effort to get everything. You could tie achievements into it as well. It adds a lot of horizontal progression for a character by expanding what variety they have, and it’s also a quality of life update. Saves space in inventory. I also have a lot of different armor sets that I like but I don’t want to get 4 different armor sets when I only use 1 stat, so I feel a bit pigeonholed into always wearing the same armor. I know this is a self-inflicted limit, but I don’t think I’m alone in this.

I do understand however that this is a complete reworking of the system. But with the legendaries you’ve shown that at least stat wise some of the functionality is already there. Skins would be a whole other issue to tackle though.

Are fractal weapon containers in game yet?

I had a staff skin drop at 42 today. I was very upset to see that the fractal container promise was not delivered on.

They never stated a fractal level that it would happen on, and they never guaranteed that at that level every fractal weapon drop would be a container. So it’s not that they didn’t deliver on a promise… they simply never made the promise you think they did.

This basically. The information given was vague. We have no idea what levels they drop, or if the boxes will completely replace skins at higher levels. Some clarity would be nice.

But yes no server can have more max players than another server.

Sorin.4310

Queues will be fixed as part of the new map. They will continue to operate as they have since launch until then. The queue does not function as a typical queue and we are fixing it. It will just take some time. It has been a lower priority than the other things we have done and we’ve only now been able to devote the appropriate resources to it.

Bugged queues? I haven’t noticed. I’ve always considered the queuing to randomly be put in WvW to be better than the first come first serve. It always seemed silly to me to offer the people waiting longest WvW. Makes much more sense to offer it to the randomly l lucky guy who has been queued for 3 minutes over the guy being queued for 2 hours.

You missed 2 zeros on that 10×.

I bought the game a couple days after Halloween last year, so I was looking forward to getting the recipes. Now I’d have to farm the labyrinth for the entire month nonstop to get ONE of the recipes.

Yea you aren’t getting 100k of those in 1 month’s farming time, but good luck all the same.

Edit: at 30 days of content (which this isn’t), playing nonstop for those 30 days, you need just over 2.3/min. Let me know when you find a farm close to that.

It makes me sad somehow, that dedicated, creative developers like Josh and his team that created a great game like the SAB get told all over and over again in this thread that all their work was for nothing, SAB is an epic fail, long levels are an epic fail, they are slapping in gamer’s faces (sorry I had to bring that up, but this is the most overused phrase in the whole English forum), they just want to make money with the infinite coin, etc.

Shorted quote because it was long. I didn’t read the first 6 or so pages of this thread so I can’t speak to those, but after that I’ve been following it. I’ve found it to be one of the genuinely most constructive criticism pages I’ve ever seen on these forums ever. A lot of the posts in my opinion are offering feedback and not just “too hard content sucks”. I think another reason it’s gone so well is because Josh is having an open discussion about the content. Understanding why things were designed in such a way or that he agrees with an issue makes the thread a lot more honest. Most of the purely negative threads come from confusion. That isn’t the case here. I’ve enjoyed the discussion, personally, and I think Josh has got a ton of useful feedback that he can already walk away with.

I think some have misunderstand what is actually going on. It gives you the warning when you enter the house that is inside the portal but not the portal that you enter from Rata Sum.

The Rata Sum portal is the one that removes the buff. By the time you get to the warning message, your buff have already been removed by entering the zone from Rata Sum.

Test it for yourself like me. Eat food > Enter portal in Rata Sum > Turn around and jump back out > All buffs gone. No warning messages.

My apologies I didn’t realize that. Well it’s been fixed, but its unfortunate for those that had to be the unwilling testers to get this fixed.

They nerfed it so you will buy the PTW coin…

Please stop spreading this crap. The coin is in no way PTW. PTW items give players an advantage that leads to imbalance between other players. The only thing the coin is used for is to not have to have coins to get account bound, nonmonetary rewards.

Does the infinite coin give an advantage over not having it? Yes, but its not PTW. PTW isn’t just advantage, or any booster would be PTW or inf mining pick, in which case the game has been PTW since release and since you seem to hate it so much idk why you’d still be here.

From your other posts I can see you are serious kitten over this coin. But the farming bauble bubbles has nothing to do with this nerf. If the OP bought the coin, he suddenly wouldn’t be able to farm dozens of bubbles a day. There is some merit to “well W2 is just death rush the level, dying over and over to progress and having infinite coins will save my bubbles from having to be spent on coins”.

Except its totally not a death rush (i thought it was first day but going back i realize now i was just not taking time) unless you don’t pay attention, don’t think, or are just generally bad, in which case SAB may not be for you. I suggest you find out what the difficult parts of SAB are for you, and work on it.

As for the OP, I don’t agree with the change either. If I want to spend 8 more times the effort to get 8 times the reward, I don’t know why I shouldn’t be able to. Especially for account bound rewards. Perhaps it was to stop mindless farming, but I’d say that’s exactly what the invasions were so…idk. I feel for you, but I don’t expect a change. Just get as many days in as you can. You can run W1 in 20 minutes or less if you get good enough at it. Perhaps you can fit it in on a few weekdays.

My problems all stem from attempting it solo. Fighting assassins solo is a grinding experience. When I’m grouped up with guildies we can often kill them quickly, but when your fighting 2-3 of them alone its really hard to avoid taking damage.

It ends up being frustrating and tedious. With a group its much easier to deal with the assassin mobs.

This is as designed. Dungeons are designed for up to 5 people. If you choose to solo a dungeon you should expect this sort of thing. At leas that’s how I look at it. Maybe because SAB doesn’t look like a dungeon there are different expectations? We did clearly communicate when you enter a world that 5 are recommended.

People in the SAB are telling others to solo it and not group – I’ve found out this is a BAD idea. The group mechanics in this are a hundred times more forgiving – kinda like when you’d pass off the controller to your friend to get you past a bad part since checkpoints apply to everyone and as long as someone is alive in the instance, you can pop back in. Nice mechanic there.

I’ve been offering this advice because in all honesty this was true in W1 for me. I can’t speak for everyone but I can speak for the few dozen people I consistently play this game with and that seems to be the consensus. None of the mobs were complicated to take out solo, and the frog’s HP was scaled so that you only had to hit him with the chipped ruby 3 times to get him to go down. And with the checkpoint system, solo you just moved on when you got there.

Apparently this is bad advice for W2 however lol. I’ve finished solo W2, but haven’t tried grouping it yet. Perhaps for some of the later achievements I’ll give grouping a go.

Pro tip:

Dodge THROUGH him. As he charges you, use your dodge mechanic towards him. What happens is that it pushes you at a greater distance from him in behind. If done properly, you’ll be out of range of his 3rd charge before he goes back to the palm technique. It’s 1, 2, 3 charges, then palm. Kind of difficult to keep up the pace..

I’ve been charged 2, 3, and 4 times before he switched back to the projectiles (which is why I believe there might be something to bringing him to a certain spot, idk). Three may occur more often I don’t know, but it is certainly not the only amount that happens. And for the 4 one, you are screwed if the way you are describing is the intended mechanic.

This feels like you’ve made every difficulty mode into tribulation mode for no reason.

There are reasons for everything. In this case I think I simply miscalculated the average jumping skill. I’m working on fixing it. Nothing nefarious here. Just a mistake I’m working on correcting.

My issue is not the jumping it’s the mob encounters. I don’t know why I’m not hitting the sword ninjas sometimes – I certainly look to be in range and it’s not red on the bottom (does this happen in SAB? It’s late and I can no longer remember). And if I get two of these on me I’m dead. If I get hit by one and knocked down, I literally smash the double tap to dodge key to try to just get away and I get hit and knocked down before the dodge can trigger. Then there’s the issue, at least for me, is that these mobs require a lot of mobility to handle, but the dojos’ arrow traps are almost close enough to where I don’t feel like I can dodge unless I’m already almost on the edge of an arrow trap. The combat doesn’t feel hard – it just feels frustrating. I don’t feel rewarded/accomplished when I get past a group of ninjas – I just wonder where the next set of em are to kill me.

If anyone has any advice on the ninjas I welcome it. Zone 2 was not fun for me. On SAB’s first release I was running all of W1 in less than 20 minutes. I don’t even want to go back to W2 zone 2. I know it’s the first day, but seriously if the jump in difficulty from W1 to W2 is any indication of W2 to W3, you might as well start handing out precursors for completing W3 when it comes around.

Why is a human storyline being forced?

in Clockwork Chaos

Sorin.4310

Why though, are we being forced to care about a human Queen for a month?

The point is that everybody is basically being forced to go and care about a race that not everybody cares about or plays.

Why is this being forced on everyone?

Someday I hope this forum learns what it actually means to be forced to do something, but my expectation is low.

Right chief. You have trouble reading into things, that’s ok I get it. I used “being forced” because if I want to participate in the living story I am forced to do so in this regard. I don’t know why people like you even post on the forums if all you do is play that stupid “you aren’t FORCED to do anything” card.

If you don’t like the content, you can run some dungeons, or WvW, or kill world bosses. Simple truth is, you’re forcing yourself to do something you don’t want to. <puts on straw hat> It’s like saying I’m forced to kill the Fire Ele every hour because his timer cycled through.

As for the crafting area you mention in your OP, all cities have them. DR’s one is a few blocks away. The area you’re referring to is the VIP section. It’s there for convenience, which requires the “VIP” ticket to get in.

We post because your mentality of “don’t enjoy content but must play it for some reason” is flawed, champ.

THIS. THIS right here is why I post. You are not going to enjoy everything in a game. So stop freaking out when there is something. Wait for the next living story. In the meantime, do something else. Sure, there is some validity of complaining about content if no one is enjoying/few are enjoying. That, however, is not the case here considering how many people are partaking in the Crown Pavilion.

The main issue: players want to farm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sorin.4310

Sorin.4310

Absolutely hate farming and the philosophy behind it. I don’t think a lot of players like farming they just like loot. To be honest a lot of MMO Players, particularly Progression Type players often have Self Esteem Issues and other Psychological Problems. Progression and obtaining rare gear or equipment gives them something to be proud of and allows them for once in their lives to be successful at something and rise above their peers. No longer are they that weird rejected kid with poor social skills, they are now powerful and 1337 and they believe that other players look at them enviously. Once this wears off they move to another game and rinse and repeat. It’s a sad reality really.

Holy kitten I blinked and suddenly I’m back in 2003.

All types of people make up all types of gamers. These degrading stereotypes that perverted the gaming community have really died out over the past decade. Let’s try and not be a horrible person by encouraging them.

Also I didn’t include it in your quote but you mentioned people don’t like to farm. Stop speaking for other people. I don’t mind farming, and I actually enjoy group farming (like the GW1 titan gemstone duo farm for those of you who played Nightfall).

Why is it that when a group of people are doing something in a game that someone don’t enjoy personally, it clearly must be stopped? The game caters to different styles. Why not more?

It was already confirmed in an article that came out at the same time that there was going to be a legendary trinket – think accessory. It was an interview with Colin. I’ll edit this post if I feel like going to find it.

“In the meantime, there will be new Legendary weapons based on current weapon types, as ArenaNet wants to provide players with more variety in looks and themes for the powerful weapons. One new type of Legendary gear will definitely be putting in an appearance this year and will likely be a trinket such as a ring or amulet. Several of the current Legendaries will also receive appearance-enhancing makeovers.”

Why is a human storyline being forced?

Why though, are we being forced to care about a human Queen for a month?

The point is that everybody is basically being forced to go and care about a race that not everybody cares about or plays.

Why is this being forced on everyone?

Someday I hope this forum learns what it actually means to be forced to do something, but my expectation is low.

This video was brought up several months ago. A dev responded to it. I’d find the link but that sounds like a lot of digging. They said something along the lines of the zones were designed with a lot of freedom in mind, and as technical limits came into play, things needed to be changed. It’s a shame, because a lot of that video is amazing looking.

It’s just a guess, but time-gating content is what it feels like to me. Were seeing more and more of this added with the daily crafting materials (quartz crystal and the ones that will be used to craft precursors/ascended gear – not sure which/if both).

Id rather less rewards and more impactful content. Id rather play the game to just simply play the game, rather than a freakin job where Im concerned with rewards.

But thats just me.

Does it have to be one or the other? Can we not have a game with impactful content and good rewards? I don’t get why this mutually exclusive mentality always pops up on these forums.
