Even for hardcore players the phase 2 depends largely on luck.
You should probably let them speak for themselves. For myself not being a hardcore player, my experience for this fight was that it was completely luck based on whether you get pulled at the wrong time or where the AoE happened to show up.
And then I learned the actual mechanics, instead of assuming it was just random, and realized the fight isn’t luck based really at all. Also, as others have said: Liadri wasn’t meant for everyone. Wasn’t it something like 5 out of only 50 or 60 alpha testers beat her? They wanted it to not be done by everyone. When you make content playable for everyone, you get CoF p1, and we sure as hell have enough of that. Getting the Liadri mini was supposed to be prestigious in the same sense rare skins are. No point if everyone can get it no problem.
I don’t have a pic of it, but since it can be searched on the TP, that means it has been on there at least once. So yes, it is available as a drop.
It’s likely a technical limit.
First and foremost, the guys that make those videos are mocked by people in the games industry.
Secondly, I thoroughly enjoyed the gauntlet. It was enjoyable, it was tough, it was unique fights. Even with new mechanics it was easy to figure out what you needed to do.
At worst you would fail a fight 1-2 times if you didn’t understand immediately, such as my case with the fire rings killing you if you stepped outside them. None of the fights make you question what am I doing or how can I possibly beat this.
Lie/not true because all the rules in EC are based on statements from massive and/or popular dev studios (valve, THQ, old blizz, etc); Ok, but so do masochists like to get burning wax on their skin; not talking about fire rings that dont indicate instakill (even if they shouldnt if you dodge them because so far there were no mechanics that in game that worked trough evades if you could/did evade for long enough).
If you are going to rebuttal people who disagree with you with “well even masochists like to get their skin burned”, then you are never going to get anyone who disagrees with you to see your point. If that’s the case, then you are just preaching to the choir, so I don’t really see the point of this thread that differs from the other "nay on gauntlet " threads
I think I am the only person that voted Kiel because I disliked the character of Evon.
No you aren’t. You are just reading the forums, where everyone is 100% sure why the other people voted and will tell you so, despite what you may say haha.
I actually applaud this.
Nobody is keeping you from running your alts, just do it the next day.Yes. Please keep telling me how I should have to play the game. You know, the old way didn’t effect you in anyway nor does the new way (or if it does – you just don’t care).
Of course the old way affected me, as you guys with the gazillion alts constantly exploiting these dungeons are the same guys crying for “Zerker ONLY!” in LFG.
Thus influencing everybody to “suit up”, making your oh so efficient “gameplay” the norm.So now you can´t run these Dungeons like a production line anymore.
But instead of waking up from the grind-stupor, you´re actually complaining that you may have to take a slight break from this moronic quasi-robotic gaming style.
Well, you´re going to start rethinking your exploity playstyle and drop the Zerker gear for a while. Maybe even start playing with the dreaded casuals, until you´ve found the many exploits in the other dungeons of course.
But enjoy them while they last, because it´s on the record that this is just the start of ANet´s long overdue Dungeons revamp.
I like how your entire post is about zerking your way through these runs, and yet my
guild doesn’t do zerker runs. Nice presumptions. Also, this change does nothing to zerker runs. Trying thinking next time.
And exploiting? I don’t think that word means what you think it means. They changed the dungeon rewards from account based to character base months ago. If they didn’t want people to be able to run alts through a dungeon a bunch, they probably shouldn’t have made that change. Arenanet is doing nothing more than time locking content because all they can churn out at the moment are 2 week living story content that can be completed in 6-7 hours.

It’s a technical limitation. Colin has stated that they are keeping conditions in mind, but I don’t know that anything has been determined on what to do about them. They certainly haven’t said what they are going to do.
I actually applaud this.
Nobody is keeping you from running your alts, just do it the next day.Complaining about this is seriously shortsighted, because you locusts gobble up these dungeons in record time then complain after a week; “There´s nothing to do !”
Well, now it takes a couple of days longer to grind for that dungeon set.
Yes. Please keep telling me how I should have to play the game. You know, the old way didn’t effect you in anyway nor does the new way (or if it does – you just don’t care). So why do you have an opinion on it? I don’t get this mentality of people saying “you can’t do it this way because it has no bearing on me whatsoever”
what?
This is a problem that goes to the core of GW2 combat, here you have time after time denied to balance out classes for 1v1 scenarios, balancing it on “teamfights” and 5v5s, hence which certain classes cant only do well in certain scenarios. Im looking at the lack of ranged DPS options for elementalists and guardians. No, scepter is bad for Liadri, both for guard and ele.
I did Liadra with my guardian using scepter/shield. Her health is really not that high compared to some of the other gauntlet bosses. If you are running out of time, I suggest you spend more time figuring out what is taking you too long in phase 1. Because after that it’s just run in a circle and DPS.
One Shot skills plus time limit is lazy design… please en light me how a Cleric-build character can L2P to kill her? Oh yeah… Clerics are bad because Cleric =/= Zerk.
So tell me, did they fail here? or while doing specs? Because evidently, they failed one place or the other if both things created by the same team have a conflict with each other.
Besides, I can easily say that if she didn’t kill me in the time limit I win, not her. Why should it be backwards?
They straight up said not all combinations will work. Do you have to be zerk? No, but it may be time to find a DPS set as well.
From the Dungeon changes newspost-
“Our goal is to make each and every dungeon path feel enticing and rewarding. We also want the rewards structure to encourage players to enjoy a variety of dungeon paths.”.
So 25 total explorable paths across all 8 dungeons and 18 of them are ‘equal’ with the absolute minimum ‘bonus’ gold.
So I think these two quotes pretty much sum it up.
well, at worst, it will be a yearly event.
not one time.
That seems presumptuous, but I do hope it returns with new bosses and such at some point.
This thread isn’t feedback. It’s “this is my opinion and I’m taking it as factual for everyone”.
Time to close?
Why so much QQ? You can make more than 6.5g per day easily now! This is amazing for me, thanks Anet.
I can make 6.5g in an hour, lol. If it’s 6.5g a day that’s slow for me.
That’s a lot for the majority of the playerbase.
Only because they didn’t utilize the dungeon system prior to the update. This is not an improvement.
You also don’t get the gold rewards after switching. This is a god kitten across the board (besides Arah) dungeon nerf and nothing else.
This list is a joke. How they consider things like SE p1 compared to 2/3 the same and TA up/up to the others the same is completely beyond me. When they said 1-3g, they should have just said 1-1.5g, plus 3g for Arah. I get they didn’t lie, but for 2g to not be sitting somewhere blows my mind.
I’m constantly getting pulled to that kitten orb. Is this avoidable?
Kill the orb the second you see it spawn. A large black shadow appears right before it spawns
Yea scepter skill kept saying “obstructed”. Hit it with a melee weapon and it died in one hit. I wonder if this is intended?
I’m constantly getting pulled to that kitten orb. Is this avoidable?
Think somewhere they said it was a technical issue. A dev posted it here on the forums.
A guild member has the name “Of Pizza”.
And yes, he does have the commander logo.
Guild Missions bugging out on us again today.
1) No officers/leaders could start a bounty. Was finally fixed by switching characters
2) When bounty was finally started, one of the targets could not be activated (Short Fused Felix or w/e his name is.)
3) Guild puzzle was completed in guild panel, but failed event somehow? Still got rewards so not a huge issue.
4) Activated Guild Challenge in panel. When we got there no officer could start it. It told us we needed officers to start it. Closing game/logging on different characters did nothing.
At what point will guild missions not be so buggy?
(edited by Sorin.4310)
In a word: no.
#whenitsready #2017
Edit: Esplen seems to be right. How “let’s take it down a notch” doesn’t imply “let’s take it down a notch” from the last time you were here blows my mind. So the 4 options just refer to the 4 tiers.
Thanks Esplen.

Yeah the second one was a bit harder but i did it with gold still, third, the veterans are so strong..
I was doing okay with the veterans until the veteran mob spawned that was just called “Veteran”. Got put down quickly lol
hmmmm i’m still stuck at 1k achievement points chest because i dunno what zenith skin to choose.
waiting for a better skins unlock system.
Isn’t there a limit to how many chests you can have waiting to be opened before they get deleted??
what? nuuuuuuuuu.
deng, i better open those boxes now! T_T
I highly doubt it. Otherwise anyone who took a bit of a break during this time would be SOL.
I think you can only “claim” any achievement chest once per day. Which means you’re only awarded one chest. Which means that if you don’t ever take your chest for the day, you don’t get awarded your next one.
hmmm ya i think this is the case. i only saw one box. the 1k achievement box. nothing else.
so i will not lose my future boxes oh?
Correct. You may not access the future ones until you open the 1k one, but they will still be there once you use the 1k one.

…
Completion rewards will be guaranteed, and we’ll vary the amount of gold earned based on difficulty and length of each dungeon path.Curious as to what the metrics for determining “difficulty” and “length” will be… And along those lines, which will be the more heavily weighted.
I’m interested in this too. Though I’m guessing they have been able to collect length of time it takes a group, number of players downed, deaths, maybe damage taken, etc. Just remains to be seen what weighting factor each of those should have.
Edit: Okay I just reread what you wrote and then what I wrote and basically I repeated what you said lol. Time to stop posting tonight I think.
10% hahah if u got 6k i got 9k almoust i dont feel like 10% maybe cuz 40% of my friend list got the same amount :P ps its not 10%
LOL. 9k puts you in the top 500 players in NA.
Not top 10%? LOL.
LOL.
it really does. i just looked through the list…
although how many of those players are pve exclusive is probably…alot.Actually, if you’re at 8k+, you farm AP. Be it doing dailies every day (not necessarily all of them) or going for all the Jumping Puzzles. You’re actively working towards achievements.
Just look at your servers top 3 pages and watch their activity over the course of one day.
HOWEVER…
50% of all players (including inactive players) are at 1k or less AP.
90% of all players (including inactive players) are at 8375ish or less AP.
1000 of all players are at 8375ish to 12056 AP as of the posting of this.
Additionally, the mantle will always be available, you just have to reach the requisite. You might not be their with the first wave, but don’t complain. You have only yourself to push to work for it.
Think about it this way. If you were able to “immediately” get it since you’re that close. What about someone 1500 away from you. Shouldn’t they also be able to “immediately” get it since they’re close to you? Eventually it doesn’t become a symbol of growth and achievement, but it just becomes something everyone else has.
Let’s recap:
90% of players (active or inactive) are at or under 8375. that means 10% are above
1000 players (active or inactive) are above
10% of players = 1000.
Total players, ever = 10000.
This is why you need to find the statistics yourself, instead of reading what others write.
You don’t need to play GW2 at all. I find this manner of thinking tiresome.
But if you’re already playing Guild Wars 2 you’re not locked out of content by anything being offered.
Who makes more money a guy with a 1% buff that plays a couple of times a week, or a guy who runs dungeons every day? It’s just a non-issue trying to be made into an issue.
There are always some people who feel I must have the best stats possible an if I do not then somehow I can’t play the game.
I’ve played baseball. I was never going to have the best stats. But I still played and enjoyed myself.
It’s just not that big a deal.
I’ll agree that the little permanent boost stats don’t really mean much in the long run.
But what if the main thing you enjoy about MMOs are the skins? What if the stats don’t matter? If you don’t do achievements, you don’t get the nice looking skins. You might say that you’re locked out from getting them. Sure, I don’t NEED the skins, but as Sil said, we don’t NEED to play the game either.
I’ve never understood all the “you don’t NEED it” arguments either. What am I missing?
The “you don’t NEED it” argument is often used in context when someone is trying to explain how something is being forced upon them to stay relevant/competitive/equal to the players doing it. This is rarely the truth in my experience with the GW2 forums. It also feels like it is in reference to achievement points. The only thing in this game required to stay equal is BiS gear. One could make the argument that achievement boxes —> laurels —> ascended gear —> must do achievements to stay equal. But it’s a pretty poor argument considering the other way to get laurels and ascended gear.
Hence the “you don’t NEED it” argument popping up yet again.
This is for me, and at least others I play with, the idea behind this argument. The you don’t need to play this game is a kinda silly way to use it, but it is valid nonetheless on things like this or “Anet is forcing me to go to EB JP”.
I don’t see how trading complaints about the leaderboards for complaints about the removal of the leaderboards is a step in the right direction. Or a step at all.
hmmm you got me confused now. O_O
1) create leaderboards.
2) complaints about leaderboards.
3) remove leaderboards.
4) complaints about the removal of leadeboards.
5) forums don’t improve – just find a new thing to complain about.
I don’t see how trading complaints about the leaderboards for complaints about the removal of the leaderboards is a step in the right direction. Or a step at all.
As the title says , i am expecting big things from now on starting with this “patch”.
(Exuse my terrible english in advance)
I feel like most of the time people preface with “I may have poor English”, that person ends up speaking/writing it better than half the people I’ve met who have English as their first language. Your English is fine!
On topic: I look at it like I look at GW1. I don’t think I would have stuck with that game for 7 years if the game went how it did it’s first year or so. It’s not that it went bad, but it’s just every company takes time to adapt to their community (I guess some may say they are straying from their community but I don’t consider the forum an accurate representation) and find their stride. Going to give anet the benefit of the doubt and see where it goes the next few months. Think they are about to really hit their stride.
Clearly guardian. Callin’ it.
Looks like it’s time to have fun with temporal curtain again.
I just think fire+black stuff = a 12 year old’s idea of cool.
Then there must be a LOT of 12 year old kids playing this game, because half the people I see are wearing CoF armor with Abyss Dye.
Ah crap I like this armor and I’m not 12. Can someone help me mature so that I can realize how bad this armor is?
My guild member is at ~5000-6000 boxes and 9 tickets.
I’m around the same at 2.
Arenanet: Designing fun ways to get weapon skins since 2014.
I love it.
But it should really be a hard mode. It’s way too difficult for most PUGs.
While I agree it is too difficult for PUGs at the moment, I think that speaks more on the state of other dungeons than it does on the difficulty of this dungeon. The popular dungeons are all the ones that people can just stand still and zerk their way through every boss. People have been tailored to this experience for 10ish months now. They aren’t used to actively playing (meaning moving around, not going full damage). And I know you may say “well I don’t play that way and PUGs are still failing”, but it may be possible that the other 4 are just expecting to stand and win.
This dungeon really highlights GW2’s strength of being able to have very fluid, moving boss battles. It’s a step in the right direction. It’ll be a transition of getting people used to play their roles outside of zerk everything down, but people will get there.
This content is certainly not too hard for guilds though (someone else mentioned this).
FYI a tad bit of good news regarding this achievement…
If the party wipes and you restart this fight, you still can get the achievement! (i.e. no need to restart dungeon)
We verified this just now as our group wiped and on the second attempt one of us got it (assuming the guy wasn’t lying, and I doubt he was as he has over 9k achievement points).
This is was not my experience, but then again I’ve done it twice now without taking damage and still no achievement. So I’m just going to list it under the bugged category.
Still confused as to why the main argument for this is that it’s a PvE achievement in a PvP zone. Seems to me it’s, if anything, a jumping puzzle achievement addition, which has not ever been 100% exclusively PvE content. Sure it’s not under a PvP tab, but neither are the achievements for completing the PvP JPs, so that point really doesn’t hold up all that well.
I guess you could claim JPs aren’t for PvP, but anet put them there. Not liking it is one thing, but to say that they aren’t meant for em, well that seems wrong. Clearly, anet wanted PvP in at least a few of the JPs.
If you don’t like it, I suggest you enjoy the rest of the content that has been provided. It’s a very small part of this living story and likely you won’t even care in a few days/weeks.
Trying to collect info for Anet to fix. Did all 5 members do the JP or did some walk around? So far in our guild the runs have only bugged if all 5 jump up.

This comes from the same guy who’s group did a naked CoF run.
Except at 7:04 you can see that he has 3 armor pieces hidden.
But yea I’m sure this post is legit.
(edited by Moderator)
That would drive me insane leaving just one POI.
Holy necromancy, batman.
I don’t know anyone that is under the impression you need only heavies (plus a random mesmer) to complete dungeons and fractals. We’re just all aware of their superiority is all. A lot of people on this forum seem to be mixing up these two ideas.
I see a lot of arguing that goes like this:
1) You don’t need heavies.
2) Yea well heavies are better.
3) Repeat 1 & 2 until moderator locks thread.
1 & 2 are not mutually exclusive statements. You have an issue with heavies being better? Okay fine. But it’s not the player base’s fault, and the only thing you can do is wait for balance/play another game. GW2 is, or at least was supposed to be, designed as play what they want. If you don’t like heavies, don’t play with em. Simple as that. There’s enough of the same minded people for you (if this forum is any measure).
Congrats! One of my favorite skins. Time for the next one? haha
Im tired of people thinking just because im on a guardian i should never get downed.
Im tired of people thinking because im on my warrior and get downed im a bad player.
Im tired of people thinking im a terrible thief if i get downed by mistake on first battle.
Im tired of people thinking they are carrying me if they res me once.
I honestly believe this is not people’s experiences. I’ve pugged in all 3 classes. While I agree that guardians are harder to bring down, on the times I have gone down on my guardian, no one has ever raged, or for the warrior, or the thief. I understand that if you get the wrong group, people can think this, but from my guild and I’s experience with pugging, we never see this. I hope (and believe) this was just a rare encounter(s) you’ve had that is not the norm.
Generally speaking, affect is a verb and effect is a noun.
e.g. Those lights have quite the effect. They’re not even affected by the snow!
now you know (sorry i turned you into a liar)
On-topic: That link is definitely indispensable to anyone getting into the painstaking process of gearing for Fractals.
Oh that’s okay. So I used it right, right? And I said literally because tomorrow I’ll just use it wrong again lol.
Also to OP: from that link you can see why going past level 49 is considered pretty pointless (impossible). Before it was possible because I think you could use resurrection orbs but that was fixed. So now the only thing people are running is 1-40s until more upgrades/ascended gear is released.
45? the ring you can put 10, back 10, accesssory 5, amulet 5? Correct me if I’m wrong.
This is correct. Also it’s relevant to note, for OP and others who may not be aware, that AP rating is affected (effected? I will literally never know) by fractal level for how agony is mitigated. Useful link on wiki here:

So i’m on my third character that i decided to level. I’m great at anything PvE. i’m currently level 70. i get into a group for CM exp mode (level 45, mind you).. and then get kicked out for not wanting to switch to my “main.”
Did i miss anything? Are people not supposed to do these dungeons at all without being level 80 and geared to the core, even if the dungeon is low leveled and you’re quite capable of handling everything it throws at you? I mean, i just finished with SE paths 2 and 3 with friends that are all level 80 and fully geared, and they died more than me.
I dunno….. should i be reporting kittens like that?
These threads come up at least every week. There are some who will only take 80s/fully geared people into the run because technically, it can make it easier. There’s nothing wrong with it (besides your/mine/other people’s personal problem with it). It’s not something that can be banned or reported. Just find yourself a group not looking for such a cookie cutter group and move on.
