as far as i see, its possible that the bug is only present with either the items received after patch, or opened after the patch. cant tell for sure though. hope they at least give some notice to this
I recieved mine shortly after triple wurm came out, so it’s not that.
I’m in favor of spiffy dyes. On a simpler note, I feel they should change the rarity of black lion dyes from “rare” to exotic – for trade form sorting purposes.
Sorting by price pretty much filters all black lion dyes to the top, with the except of a few normal dyes.
If you get a special gay friendly colour, i want a special hetero colour, just for the sake of equality.
I mean, it’s pretty absurd to say “we are all equal” when dressing purposedly different.
Update: we restarted, dropped a portal down on her. I could use, but she couldn’t.
My guildie and I have been trying to do the new JP in LA, but the game is so bugged out. We keep getting teleported to the edge of the map? She randomly died standing on a building (another bug?), and so I laid down a portal to try to get her. It didn’t show up on screen, so I laid down the other end to send it into cooldown. It then let me know I could use the portal, so I wanted to test it if it just wasn’t showing up, and it literally sent me to the edge of the map. What the kitten is going on with your game? Picture shows approximate area where I laid down both ends of the portal (by blue ally dot), and where I ended up.
I don’t mind puzzles that take this long to get through, but when I’m kittening getting ported to the other end of the map while standing on my own kittening portal, maybe you should make sure you’re content actually kittening works? I don’t get it. This has been happening to us all night. We also keep getting water weapons equipped to us and can’t use any skills 1-5. How the kitten does this get past any of your testers?

i don’t really get it… nothing against the lgbt community, have several friends who are, and legally i think they should have more rights, but why the need to put hot topic issues in a fantasy video game? In a game about unity and fighting dragons just seems like a good way to stirr up controversy and have more religion debates in trade chat and can see otherwise good people who just happen to have a religious belief getting banned just for having a discussion (even if in a polite/friendly manner)
why not put obama or hillary flyers up, or crosses or other religious symbols ingame too? Thought the whole point of a fantasy video game was to escape reality.
bunny trail but… why do voters even care about social issues atm when we are billions or trillions in debt atm in the usa. everything else seems kind of irrelevant in comparison to the giant problem that isn’t going away.
again (just to make it clear and i dont get banned for even posting this lol) i support the agenda, but I don’t get the need for it in a game. let the politicians and preachers fight in real life, ingame i just want to fight dragons and talk in trade chat without debates.
It’s only a hot topic because bigoted people are trying to push that’s it not normal and should be stopped. The LGBT community would love it if everyone could just say “ok were cool with that and accept it” and we could stop talking about it in every political debate.
Also, just as others have pointed out, you’ve said “I support it” then made claims directly not. It’s extremely insulting to say “I’m cool with it but I don’t want to see it here”. Taking no side is almost as bad as taking the wrong side.
Good Lord is this serious? Just turn off your map chat. People are obviously allowed to discuss this in-game if they choose to.
Stick with it. Give the meta sometime to balance out. It’s likely most classes will still be zerker/assassin for optimal DPS
I like the redesign for when you click it over the previous one, but yeah I have to agree. No list when hovering seems a step in the wrong direction.
No? I got lagged out before I could get within 20 feet of it.
Ah.. if only. if only.
All this could of been avoided. u.u
The point he is making is that a lot of people got a precursor during that. It in no way has any effect on your precursor drops.
The only real answer anyone can give you is that it’s RNG. There’s been a lot of post over the psat 3 years giving anecdotal evidence “proving” it’s broken. But obviously that’s worthless. Other posts have given more concrete data to prove RNG is broken, but miss something – like their sample size not being big enough. Or failing to understand that their results are within the realm of possibility, even if they are unlikely.
I thought most of the BLTC skins didn’t have underwater weapons.
GW2’s pre-purchase began exactly 2 months prior to the release. HoT’s pre-purchase began June 16.
Just sayin’.
Do you have a source for this? I’m not saying it’s not true, I just was unsuccessful in trying to find a date for the pre-purchases when I looked a couple days ago. The only thing I could find was:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Beta#Stress_tests
Where it says: “Public stress tests were open to all players who have pre-purchased a copy of Guild Wars 2” and then “The first public stress test was on 14th of May, 2012”.
The release of GW2 was August 28th (or 25th for head start or something right?), which would mean pre-purchases were available for at least 3 months. Unless I’m missing something?
Edit: I also thought BWE1, BWE2, & BWE3 were only available to pre-purchases and the first was in April. I can’t find a source for who was allowed into those though.

You’re giving Veteran players a free character slot? Nice!
Except for the people who bought the deluxe edition for the character slot. Now they’ll pointlessly complain. And thus the cycle begins anew, with people trying to milk undeserved concessions out of the company.
I love that you are getting attacked for this, even though the only thing you did was point out that people were going to get upset (and they did pretty much immediately), not that you actually held this opinion.
They don’t allow account name changes literally for this reason. They don’t want people running around be rude or toxic to everyone, and then just change their account name so they are no longer associated with that name.
I tend to agree with this, but I think you may be playing the wrong MMO if you want the majority of the playerbase (or at least the forum frequenters) to agree with you. I’d offer my opinion on the matter, but the way previous topics like this have gone, it won’t really matter. Everyone’s already made up their mind.
Edit:
Involving real life pride in some fake weapon or set of armor in a game is borderline cuckoo.
Why? I’ve seen this comment all the time. People are proud of the time they spend practicing an instrument. People are proud of art pieces they practice to get good at. Why can’t someone have pride in the work they’ve put in to a game they really enjoy? Having pride in accomplishments in a virtual world doesn’t mean they don’t have pride in real world accomplishments also. I’m proud of the fact that I worked hard to get Sunrise, The Minstrel, Bolt, and 3 full ascended armor sets. I’m also proud of the fact that I have a masters in Mechanical Engineering. Neither one takes away from the other. Do I judge them on the same scale? No, but there is still pride in both. They aren’t mutually exclusive. Stop judging people’s psyches on what they get out of a video game solely. It’s moronic.

Content being walled off because a person wasn’t playing or didn’t even know the game existed at the time these items were available isn’t all that nice either.
Genuinely curious. Why is that not nice? It certainly doesn’t seem rude to me to have something temporarily available.
This is for weapon and armor currently – weapons use the same recipe as armor to stat change except they use inscriptions to allow you to change instead of insignias.
Alas yes it does destroy the runes and sigils in the item, the mystic forge doesn’t currently have a way to allow us to do this kind of stat changing without it working that way.
Also: Shout out to Matt P and Linsey who did all the hard work to make this possible
Perhaps the solution would be to have ascended gear salveagable, where it would give you the sigil/rune (guaranteed with a BL kit), and another account bound item that would be specific to the armor/weapon, and replace the ascended gear requirement with that new item.
This may be a technical limit. I don’t think anything in the wallet is used in the mystic forge nor crafting. The system probably isn’t set up to allow wallet items to function in that way. When the tokens went to the wallet, the 500 tokens required for legendary gifts switched to buying an item for 500 tokens. They could do this I suppose, but unfortunately these mats aren’t all used in the same quantity for everything. They would probably consider that system cluttered.
But I do agree some kind of change for convenience would be nice.
This will make all those non-ideal stat boxes that I’ve gotten so much more useful. Awesome change.
Lol. Manifesto, treadmill, ascended and power creep in 1 post.
Bingo!
i still want the option to fast cast at TARGET’s feet, since i am a mouseclicker and i feel like i’m at a very big DISadvantage because of it.
number pushers can at least place their mousecursor where they want the spell to land. mouseclickers shafted once again, since the mousecursor is on the skill UI, not the ground.
and yes, i do feel like a scratch on an LP, skipping over and over and over on this topic…
I don’t think they’d change this because of things like grenades.
I think people underestimate some condition builds. Group theoretical cond damage right now is over 11k.
Build up time & overlapping conditions bring that down. But vuln changes & increased cond damage with the change might actually make condi warrior good enough to be competitive, if not the absolute best.
Do those numbers include vulnerability?
I’m pretty sure they do. They also don’t consider damage that comes from attacking. Warrior solo DPS is very comparable whether full conditions or full direct when it comes to solo. But with critical hit boost in group play I imagine condition damage will still be subpar. Definitely not 50% less though.
Confusion and Retaliation do not work the same way. Confusion is applied to a foe and they’ll take damage now, regardless of what they do. Retaliation is applied to yourself (or allies). How do you apply this to ret? Passive AoE damage? Seems pretty overpowered in groups unless the damage is worthless.
They may suffer from some similar faults, but because they mechanically work different, comparing their faults to say “both need a fix” may not make sense.
I can’t answer your first question, because they haven’t told us (post says “Tomes of knowledge will level you up if you are under level 80 and give one spirit shard if you’ve reached level 80.”, but it doesn’t definitively say our current # of skill points = # of spirit shards).
As for your second question, that’s simple:
The game will check the # of skill points you got from leveling to 80, a fixed number, and skill point maps, a finite number. That number will be converted to hero points (that’s the correct name, right?). The rest will be converted to shards.
What would you suggest as a change to retaliation?
It is a problem for me as my build will be completely destroyed. So I will have full ascended valkyre medium gear with runes of strength for which I will have no use for anymore.
I’m not too happy about it, but I’m not happy about the whole trait line, so I wonder how things will turn out.
How is your build completely destroyed? What’s the trait setup you are running that absolutely required valkyrie armor to make it viable? What stats are you losing (we’ll ignore the stats being added back because we don’t know the numbers yet) that make your build absolutely useless now?
Because this is almost certainly a complete hyperbole.
Ah yeah you’re not. I saw two names starting with a D and didn’t look too closely haha
TS ought to buy some interpunction before anything else.
I am helplessly confused by this post. What is TS? What is “interpunction?” What does either have to do with HoT pre-purchase?
TS: thread starter
interpunction: it’s a less commonly used term meaning punctuation within what you wrote.
Basically they are telling you to use more punctuation in your post.
Nah, if Ventari-Leg starts outputting the sort of healing that would allow players to mindless stand around face rolling keys while a Champion is hitting them in the face they’ll probably nerf it.
You can already to this. There are videos of full clerics doing dungeon runs just facetanking bosses instead of actively dodging and such. They surfaced to prove that clerics is more faceroll than zerker when it comes to actual effort put in.
I’ve never understood these threads. Not liking them I get, but I’ve never had an issue with the camera in a JP that I can remember. Does anyone have videos showing how the camera is terrible in them? Because all I can think is people just are bad with camera control until I see video evidence that a decent number of JPs have camera issues.
NOW NOW NOW NOW. I WANT MY TOY NOW.
Seriously, this generation…
IM GOING TO SPEND ALL THIS MONEY I DONT HAVE TO kitten THE NEXT GENERATION’S ECONOMY FOR DECADES. OH AND THEN IM GOING TO BLAME THEM FOR NOT BEING SUCCESSFUL IN THE MESS I WROUGHT.
Seriously, last generation…
(edited by Sorin.4310)
I apologize if I was not clear, I am not asking for any dedicated Healer (though someone could trait as such if wanted) I just was looking at an easy way to give other stat groupings a bit of a boost in utility, and also give the “passive” defense skills / boons / traits better usage as well. It would give a better challenge overall without taking any part of the game away.
It will actually divide the “elites” and the “casuals” even more. The elites are good enough that they aren’t affected by their healing skill doing less when specked for full DPS. The casuals are not. They’ll get downed and die more often now because they don’t have the skills, even if they aren’t fully DPS specked.
And that’s just in dungeons. Your change also means that players become more dependent on there being others to play with out in PvE. Which is 99.9% soloable now. Most of us don’t mind playing with others, but we don’t necessarily want to play with others if you get my meaning. We don’t mind others being around, but we don’t want to have to know what build they are or what their skill level is.
This. The passive defense/support (like HP #) is not the reason zerker is popular. It is because the active defenses (blocks, dodges, etc) are completely sufficient. Pulling away the passives will force more casual players to invest in armor that gives the passive, while playing exactly the same way, but killing slower. It hasn’t added any meaning to the gameplay, while the elite still fly through in zerker gear.
Slow down casual players but don’t change the way they play? No thanks.
Its a expansion ofc we get dungeons

And yet Dragonhunter makes sense for a Guardian as well, seeing as one of the parts of being a hunter is hunting down dangerous beasts that threatens the people/community. Which is exactly what the Guardian is all about.
Yes I can’t wait to hunt down bubbles with my longbow and ground targeted traps as a dragon hunter….
PvE: Scholar
PvP: Hoelbrak
In 5 weeks you’ll know them all anyway (assuming they keep up with this release schedule, and assuming warrior & thief are last). All that is left is warrior, ele, thief, engineer, and ranger. We already know ranger is getting staff & engineer is getting hammer. Ele was datamined to likely be sword. The two not sure ones being thief and warrior. Thief rifle makes sense. Warrior is the only truly unknown. That give 5 confirmed classes to work on, a near guaranteed 6 (ele) with an iffy 7 (thief), to work on for the time being.
If you want speculation on the order of release, someone has wondered if https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/
the listing there is the order. So far it fits. Interestly, this list is a different order than both the original reveal and the drop down list. It wouldn’t surprise me to find out anet organized this recently to be in the order of release. They enjoy little clues like that.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I didn’t think celestial gear was all that good in pve.
For an optimal set up, it’s not for open world/FotM/Dungeons. It may have some play in WvW I’m unsure. But OP may not care about “what is best”.
Did I read the blog post wrong? I was under the impression it was 465 for literally everything you could put points into.
Umm, the builds you used before will use the same gear now. Thats not getting changed.
Now new builds will use new gear stats but that hasn’t changed since the dawn of the game.
If your build and gear isn’t considered “meta” when the patch hits then thats your fault for following meta and not just playing a spec and gear you enjoy.
This is not true at all. Many builds rely on getting different stats from their traits than what is on their armour.
Whether you realize it or not, that was poor build design, and maybe why they are removing stats from lines altogether. People were unaware they were making bad builds. Picking a trait was always more beneficial than picking a stat. You might make some argument that there wasn’t enough useful traits so then it just went to stats, but they’ve given the impression this might be remedied by removing some of the useless traits, and making some of the lackluster one’s default skill changes (larger AoE on symbols for example).
Ok?
Many builds relied on the stats from traits to supplement their gear, which had different stats.
Yeah. Bad builds. Except for bringing spotter and EA for phalanx. The guardian one for WvW. But none of those changes (if they are going away) req new gear set ups.
This change is pointless. It’s like adding more HP to a boss. You’ve simply added more time to a run without adding anything meaningful, mechanics wise. We all suffer equally with this change.
I’m not interested in “rng this or rng that” as this is beyond RNG.
So please Anet, clear this up for us :-)
The only response Anet is going to give you, is the one you are not interested in. So I guess we can go ahead and close this thread?
sigh
if someone looted 10000 beta portals that’s just one beta access and doesn’t hurt your chances at all.
ppl pls think.
Is this true? When the update came out and said they drop for a week “or more” I wondered if it meant that only so many can drop before they are pulled out of the loot table. Though that seems like poor hindsight on anet. It could be that it stops when the number of accounts get flagged. Or maybe it just means they hadn’t decided how long to let it drop. Point is, have they specified? I may have missed it.
I think I’m more in support of this after reading some of the responses. I don’t have the CE, but frankly I don’t care how people get into a closed beta if an open beta is also scheduled. Seeing people get riled up over something so innocent has given me a laugh. I’m all for it.
You guys can cling to your hipster dream world all you want, but the organization and order of a Trinity-like system would benefit the game more than take away from it.
Anet realizes this. Why else would they have put Taunt into the xpac as a condition?
We will, because it’s what we enjoy. We’ve played other MMOs. We like this better. Its great that you prefer trinities. You have so many game options. We have this one….and that’s about it. why change the 1 game doing something different to just clone the clones of clones out there?
Two things stuck out to me:
1) Toxicity. Yes the game has it, but of the MMOs I’ve played, and of the ones friends have played, this is by far the least toxic. it’s the first MMO game I’ve played that isn’t littered with homophobia, for example. Could the community improve? Well sure, there’s always room for improvement, but relatively speaking, it’s pretty mild.
2) Trinity. Just no. I don’t know an MMO that doesn’t have a trinity like system, except for GW2. GW2 doesn’t need a trinity DPS/Tank/Healer. It need a the opposite. This game is for all the people tired of trinity. It was literally one of their biggest selling points. if you want a trinity, honestly you need to play a different game. GW2 Will never have it. That may seem stupid or company suicide to you, but to a lot of us it’s ideal.
Would be a nice gesture that I’m sure would be met with a lot of entitled backlash haha.
