Fractals:
I’ve been running for over 900+ fractal runs on level50, personal reward lvl50, and I got 1 skin in total.

This is why people complaining on the forums about RNG is almost not worth reading. Fractals haven’t even been out 900+ days and you only get 1 daily chest per day. And then calculating the time it took people to get to 50. Then calculating the reset and getting back to 50. Why should anyone believe anything you say when this is a blatant lie?

I doubt it. Melee isn’t just popular for the typically higher damage. Its much easier to boon and field share at melee. And maybe it’s just me but it seems unfair to make ranged just as good as melee. It typically has a lot less risk, so to me it should be less effective. Just my personal opinion.

Hell no, then people would know I’m lying about having full beserker gear for instances. Until they realize that meta isn’t required I’m gonna continue to lie about it and keep wearing my preferred soldiers gears.

While I have doubt about this system, posts like this want me to have the system more. I use the LFG every day to do dungeons, and I see the plenty of casual/anyone welcome to join groups. Why Not just join them? Why do you have to be a jerk? I’m sorry if someone was rude because you weren’t in zerker gear. Most people who prefer zerker are not “zerker is the only thing that works” – just that it’s optimal. You may feel that everyone is that way, but it’s typically just the complainers that are vocal.

No idea what that is, never having set (virtual) foot inside WoW. I assume you could provide a link?

I’m unsure if forum policy allows us to directly link other MMO features? So I’ll just describe it. It’s basically an inspect feature that is website based. You type in the character name and can look at his gear, his guild, achievements, pets, PvP rank, etc.

As for whether I want this…I’m not opposed to it. But currently the community is quite polarized over zerk/notzerk. That may be reason enough to not implement it.

Separate stats from trait trees

That seems unlikely to promote build diversity. As the game is now, most of your stats come from gear. This allows you to pick a trait line based on traits alone, regardless of whether you want to be zerker, clerics, sentinels, etc. What you are suggesting would, if people wanted to be zerker, force people into a trait line even if they don’t want those traits because they want the stats. It would limit build diversity.

They only ever had One gw1 rollback (due to an exploit lost a weeks progress)- I tHink this one needs rolling back sooner rather than later.

Put the servers on freeze – rollback and boom.. Big apology – but at least it would fix this issue.

The only rollback I remember was when the material merchants somehow had some sort of reset and people bought ecto for 100g each. (100g was a lot less money in GW1 for non GW1 players)

As for this, a rollback may not be necessary. They’ve shown they can take AP away with the wrongly rewarded BLTC skin collections. Though it took them months to do it. Hopefully this won’t be the same. A lot of people, including myself, worked very hard for GWAMM and those AP points.

Are the riflemen now spawning during the cutscene into agro mode in cm path 1?
- did a run earlier and they seemed to be up a lot quicker whilst someone was still watching the video (they died).

This didn’t happen for me tonight in CM.

[CM] P3, Seamus rifle range has been greatly increased. I think he now has a cone of 180 degree in front of him instead of a small cone.
Sidestepping is not really possible, now you’ll have to walk through him to avoid being shot.

  • For Thief (not my main, mostly play ele and mes), the combo CnD -> backstab still works.
However the Heartseeker during his 25% hp is harder to pull off now, I mostly eat rifle in the face after doing that due to the slow recovery time, but then it could be just me being slow and terrible.

This probably needs more testing. I didn’t notice a difference in the fight tonight. But I may have more of a tendency to push through him than to sidestep. I’m not sure.

It’s more than that, defiance by the description uaually treats all CC the same except for how much bar it drains. As I remember, in their examples the enemies, when broken, do something totally different than the effect of the skill.

Wait really? Then whats the difference between an icebow and a thief’s BP? Both will just propel the defiance bar to the same predetermined outcome?

That seems beyond lame and I really hope that’s not how it’s going to be. To have unique cc skills/effects work only on trash would be seriously boring.

No, that is how Defiant currently works. Once it switches over to the new system, Ice Bow 5 will strip off much more than blinding powder.

As for what the outcome is, we really don’t know. On some enemies, it will be something specific. On others, who knows?

If the end result is, say, a 5 second stun, does it really matter that Ice Bow 5 doesn’t do anything special to the break bar?

Yes. Because a lot of bosses are moved using knockback fears. If breaking the defiance bar just stuns them and they still can’t be moved, I don’t like the change at all. I’d prefer to count stacks and use the CC’s actual effect.

In GW1 all classes could use any weapon

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sorin.4310

Yes you could but it wasn’t effective thereby making it pointless.

A choice is only a choice if it has an equal chance of being selected. Guild wars 1 was jacked pack of worthless choices, just like the weapons. Yes you could equip all of them but they were no effective and nobody would choose or equipment it, if it did not work with their class.

This is simply not true. It was very standard for monks to use 1H weapons in both PvE and PvP with +5 en, 20% longer enchant without having a secondary profession that used that weapon (among other weapons that they swapped through). In fact, this was seen a lot in caster builds. My sin had 10 different shields for different scenarios. The dungeon clearing norm was for sins to not have daggers, but shields + spears, or occasionally a scythe. It opened up classes in ways I don’t think anet expected (looking a you SF sin), which certainly caused balance issues in PvE. Not as much in PvP. Though I don’t really see that as the reason here. Any 1H weapon in GW2 can have identical stats. (In GW1 I don’t believe a scepter could have +5 en, 20% longer enchants.)

I agree with everything you said save one. Nerfing zerker is the only way to fix it really.

If they are going to work on the philosophy they’ve had this whole time where they want to eliminate what they would consider an unfair advantage (which is what basically happened to first heal scaling, then crowd control, then conditions, and finally reflects) then they need to follow through on what they started and nerf the effectiveness of zerker vs bosses and champs. Bosses and champs if everything were truly equal in this game in PVE would have a debuff that prevented crits from occurring when crits have hit just like the CC debuff works. It would diminish the effectiveness of Zerker above all else and it would force the community to become a more diverse group.

On top of this change, they need to fix condition damage stacking because that’s the key problem with conditions beyond the nerfs it’s suffered as a mechanic, conditions also have the added problem of being designed poorly.

Anyone who disagrees doesn’t believe in fairness.

This is almost feels like a troll it’s so ridiculous, but sure I’ll respond. What has led you to the impression that everything is supposed to “truly equal” in this game? In what way should soldier’s gear EVER compare to zerker gear? It’s more defensive. It shouldn’t put out the damage zerker gear does. It makes 0 sense, in any capacity, to offer a full damage stat like zerker, and then nerf it’s effects to be on the same level as defensive gear. If arenanet wanted every armor set to be “truly equal”, they would have made one armor stat. Nothing is broken with zerker gear. It should inherently do more damage than a defensive stat. That is literally its purpose.

For whatever reason, there’s this opinion in part of the community that somehow their tanky gear should be just as effective as damaging gear, and for the life of me I cannot understand why. You chose a safer gear set. You get to do less damage. I know some would like to see the encounters force people out of zerker gear, which I don’t understand either. The people who advocate zerker gear do so because it’s what’s optimal. Whatever the optimal gear changes to, we’ll switch to that combination and people will still whine that their clerics gear isn’t optimal. The zerker community still won’t struggle with content as they adapt, and the people sitting in defensive sets will be playing harder content without the option to fallback on even tankier gear.

As for the condition part, sure. I’m fine with sinister’s gear being competitive with zerker.

You dont thibk being a zerk is lazy? lets demonstrate it with thief ,shall we?
put all your signets, sword and pistol and just spam the 3rd skill and kill all foes.
Or an alternative, use d/d and just backstab everything by constantly pressing 5-1.
And with the right traits, you dont die that quickly.

Ok 1, pressing 5-1 isn’t “zerk”. It’s just using your skills. Regardless of what gear you are in, this will be what does the most damage. It sounds like your problem is that to get the most out of a thief’s damage, you don’t really do anything interesting. Nerfing zerker gear won’t change this. There’s literally 0 connection between the 2. I am all for revamping classes to make them have meaningful rotations (like the engineer’s), but again, nerfing zerker gear won’t change this at all.

[suggestion] A way to shake dungeon meta

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Sorin.4310

What we periodically see on this forum (for PvE) are complaints stating :
- There is no challenging content and dungeon are especially easy.
- Some classes are useless/unwanted in dungeon.
- You can’t play how you want to play, you gotta play zerker.

This is the first online game I’ve ever played where people seem to be upset that there is an optimal setup for classes. I’m really confused by it because I feel like pretty much every online game, especially MMOs, have it. I think people saw anet’s sell of “play how you want” and it took it as “everything is equally effective”. There is no way to make tanky gear as effective. It simply doesn’t doesn’t make sense. Why would anyone run zerker gear if PVT was just as effective?

As others have stated, GW2’s playstyle is basically “bring enough to survive – rest DPS”, and at the fault of anet’s, they made a game where you can survive completely on utility, traits, and base defensive stats alone. This leads to 1 obvious outcome: the optimal gear is the gear that offers highest DPS. It’s just the natural outcome of the game they designed. Now, I think it’s totally okay for you to wear knights, or PVT, or cleric’s, if that’s how you want to play. I’m not personally interested in running dungeons with people in that gear, but there are others who would be happy to play along with you, and that’s cool that there are different mindsets in the game. The “zerk only” has been started by the anti-zerk crowd who confused “zerk is optimal” as “zerk is the only thing viable”.

Doesn't Need To Be Harder

Sorin.4310

Game does need to get ALOT harder actually, everything is too kitten easy.

No, I think we’ve reached a point at which most people are simply confused. Had a talk with someone today who said soldier’s is kitten because one has got to be unkillable when wearing it which isn’t the case, therefore anet messed up soldier’s. And who told me I’m stupid for doing teq in zerker’s (unfortunately the thread was closed so I couldn’t discuss this anymore) – so we’re at a point where even less people understand the game mechanics, I think.

Anyway: I don’t get every mechanic either but to assume that one is invincible when wearing this or that gear or being on this or that character is nonsense, it’s still the brain that matters.

Well I won’t call you stupid, but it seems an odd choice to wear zerker gear to taco when it can’t be critted, so two of the stats of zerker gear is completely useless. Unless you meant to say you are in the nonzerg part of taco, then by all means use zerker.

They might be confused because most of the content of GW2 is brain-numbingly easy. It’s coddled them into a zero thought attitude when playing the game. It’s an incredibly simple concept to not use low damage, multihit attacks when the target you’ve clicked on has retribution. However, if hardly any other part of the game requires you to keep this in mind, it suddenly becomes “difficult”. The issue in this game is not the difficult content – it’s the complete lack of introductions to things that matter (like teaching boons, combo fields). Instead it lets you know what a vista is.

Why is it odd when I already have it? Teq isn’t that hard that I have to have gear especially for him. And soldier’s and zerker’s base is both power, so if I know when to dodge I’m doing just as much damage as someone wearing soldier’s. And extra damage when defending the batteries as the mobs there are “critable”. And mind you, I know when to dodge. And you’re a good example of what I meant actually – no offense, really – people think that some other gear has to have way more value now since the ferocity/crit nerf and since newer bosses aren’t critable – but it’s simply not true.

Edit: And from that stems that the content is too hard as they already wear the tanky gear and so on – with that I don’t mean the OP, btw. I’m frequently dying in my LS instances as well, but that’s more because the bosses are new to me – I know that if I would be doing it a few more times I would have no problem at all.

You’ve made quite the assumption to lump me in with people who think other gear has more merit since the crit nerf. I’ve been one of the advocates of zerker gear since about the start of this game, and have only become more passionate about it as time has gone on, through its changes. Literally all of my characters are in zerker gear. I PvP in zerker gear. It doesn’t change the fact that zerker gear has two useless stats on taco. So I have a soldier’s set there, because it’s more useful.

Tanky gear is not always a good option either. Take the OP’s concern: retaliation. It isn’t reduced by toughness. So in zerker gear: less health so fewer stacks of retal kill him, but he also has to do less hits to kill the mob. Tanky gear: more health so more stacks of retal kill him, bu the also has to do more hits to kill the mob. It’s the same story. It goes back to the game not teaching basic mechanics. It’s the same debate that’s been done a million times in the dungeon thread. Gear isn’t the issue. Playstyle is.

So that’s it then, full zerker or nothing. It’s the be all, end all gear for everything, or at least pve?

Short of a real expansion drastically changing the design it’s unlikely to ever be fixed either.

Holy kitten that’s horrible! I knew it was popular but this kittening sucks! Never seen anything like this in an mmo. Hopefully the ‘big news’ form PAX south is something to look forward to.

Never seen this in an MMO? I’ve only played WoW and Rift, but both had optimal gear. zerker is optimal because it offers the highest DPS and content is still doable in it. It’s not “zerk or nothing”. It’s zerk is optimal. Others are suboptimal. By all means, you can do dungeon runs in other gear. (There are even videos out there of groups going things like full clerics so that don’t have to do any dodges or anything). But it is less effective in terms of time spent.

I’m really confused as to why there’s always threads popping up of “I hope new options open up”. What are you hoping for? In what way could soldier’s EVER compete with zerker’s in dungeons? It mathematically does less damage. You could argue that they could open up the bosses to do more damage or attack more frequently to force players to use some more defensive sets. But this doesn’t really open up options. It shuts down one (zerker) to shift to another. It’s not any more options in the end.

I know it’s not as profitable, but this is the exact reason why modern MMO aren’t RPG anymore, most of the ppl are thinking just about how to farm money/mats/items efficiently, not about playing the game. And of course, developers aren’t trying to make RPG-friendly game anymore, because it’s waste of time due to the community.

This doesn’t mean anything. You aren’t saying anything. What do you think it means to play the game as intended? In what sense has anet ever said they don’t intend people to farm if those people desire? You have EotM, CS, dungeon, etc farming in the game that anet is totally okay with. The only reason SW got nerfed (patch says “bug” but yeah…) is because it seemed to infinitely produce keys with pretty much zero effort. By farming mats/items I am playing the game. Perhaps even more so than other people because I’m bouncing through all kinds of content trying to get the most out of the day resets (like dungeons and metas and dailies).

That point of this thread was to address the issue of the small portion of the community that refuses to let people play how they want.

People that join Zerk only LFGs without the proper build and gear? This thread was made to address that issue.

People that join “All Welcome” LFGs and attempt to kick someone for not playing how they “Should?” This thread was made to address that issue.

Not sure what you’re saying here. Do you think it’s an issue that people of different gearing aren’t allowed in a zerk only group? Why should a group that wants to play their way be effected by someone leeching a run in soldier gear? I would say it’s the one in soldier gear who refuses to let people play how they want.

I think he’s saying that both people in not zerker gear joining zerk only groups and people trying to kick people for not being in zerker gear, even though the group did not specify zerker gear, are equally wrong.

But he also said that this thread is just about the LFG tool, and after rereading the first post, I’m still pretty ? on how it’s about that.

I think the simplest solution would be to remove the bandit crests from the chests, which is what makes this just go on and on. Though I don’t particularly care if it gets nerfed or not. I found the gold intake inferior to the dungeon clearing I typically do with a group of friends. I guess if you get lucky enough with you T6 mats from bags you’d could do quite well, but otherwise I don’t see this being much of a problem.
