That’s how you achieve absolutely godawful balance.
You cannot apply the same change to everythign in the game and hope it balances out. Believe it or not, there are plenty of skills and traits that already have way too long CDs for how little effect they have. All your proposed change would do is cement the current builds even further as the only ones people use, because the other ones would be that much worse.
Other skills that have way too long CDs are already ones that are not being used. The problem we have is skills can be spammed at will and dont even have to think about it. A 10s cd going to 11s cd is not gonna kill any build but will go towards reducing the spamming we are seeing. Boons that give 5 sec buff going to 4.5 sec. Burns or bleeds going from 10s to 9s is minor changes that are easy to put it and IMO still the fairer way. Since its a percentage change not a hard change.
Exactly, they aren’t being used because they are not good enough. Nerfing those skills just serves to further remove intra-class diversity, as it makes them even worse.
Yes, skill spam is too much. Yes, boon and condi spam is too much. No, that does not mean that we need blanket changes like this to the game. It won’t work out well for balance.
But this topic is not about balance, its about power creep. Since ANET seems to have a severe shortage of manpower my suggestion is the easiest way to reduce power creep while maintaining the current “imbalance” as it is. The Balance issue is something entirely different and needs to be addressed.

i think all passives should be remove and cooldowns INCREASED by 10% across the board on all utilities. Boon durations , condi durations REDUCED by 10% across the board.
BOOM instant reduction of the spam fest we are currently seeing. See how that goes. If necessary do another 10% on next balance patch.

get 2 equal skilled players and a DH/War will destroy the Power Rev in sPvP. Why do you think most of the high skilled Power Revs switched to another class. Its because if you are a top player sure you will do great on Power Rev but guess what? You will do even better if you switch to Warrior.

Everytime I go to click on Desert Borderlands map my mouse cursor moves by itself to EBG. (or any of the other Alpine maps). I cant explain it. It just happens.

Put a Sigil of Draining on your hammer if you haven’t done so already. Increases your DPS and sustain. I like Sigil of Draining coupled with Sigil of Hydromancy for the chill.

Dude you don’t need to even reset fight cause you have perma 1.1k hp/s regen. I dont even want to mention extreme dmg in full bers gear without consequence + perma stab or ressistance. Be happy you dont have 11k base hp which you should be having right now. Most broken class in wvw. Thiefs and condi reapers ar not far behind.
Would love to see a perma resistance build that actually does damage. Unless when you say “Perma” you are like most posters exaggerating just a bit.
And if you tell me you are using Heal sig for the 6 sec resistance then say bye bye to the “perma” 1.1k hp/s Cant have it both ways.

I play WvW because of currently sPvP is boring. I literally lived in HoTM during S2,S3,S4 and part of S5. But I haven’t played a single ranked match in Season 6.

as soon as you use warriors sprint dodged march doesn´t pay off. Also shield master is very good. So no shield and not running discipline yes take it.
I run strengh, defence,berserker with high boon duration. So i use it.
Warriors Sprint only helps with Immob. It doesn’t remove cripple or chilled.
But yes I agree that immob is not really a problem since GS3 and GS5 plus Shield 4 all cure immob.
I just feel that I always have some kind of chill or cripple on me and that makes it harder to escape or chase people.

Hi this is a question for a WvW build.
Im currently running GS Mace/Shield power war for wvw and have been using Shield Master for the reduced cd as well as the might on block, however lately ive been considering taking Dogged March instead. It seems im always affected by Chill, Immob or Cripple so Dogged March is guaranteed to proc for the nice 6s of regen (more if you have boon duration like I do).
Plus the 33% condi duration reduction for (Chill/immob/cripple) along with Lemongrass food I use means 53% reduction on those condis.
Sounds interesting. Does anyone use that trait? I’ll prob test It out in wvw after reset.

Right click a name in pvp, click “report” and notice there’s a reason “match manipulation”. That is exactly what you described.
I honestly believe the Report function was written as an April Fool’s Joke by ANET devs to troll players and then was never removed. Each time someone reports a player a bell rings in ANET’s offices and the DEVs giggle like school girls.
Seriously has anyone found out if Reporting actually does anything?

well i also dont understand this… the german translation is even worse.
I red it like:If there are stacked classes in your team each player gets less rating for a win and loses more rating for a loss ???? how does this makes sense since stacking is mostly a disadvantage for your team
They count the number of stacked classes from minute 1 to 2 … so the first 2 minutes of the game = the time where u can reroll.
What they may meant is:
- stacking classes in a team reduce Rating variation.
- class stacking is gonna reduced but it’s still possible when there are not enough players available
- stacked classes are count within 2 minutes at the start of a match
“Scoring” in this context is completely unrelated to your rating. It’s a internal metric for comparing potential matchups.
What it seems to be doing is putting increased matchmaker priority on having 5 unique classes, and only expanding to 4 unique classes after 2 minutes.
Only downside I see is that by still allowing class swapping in the time before match starts anyone who wants to get faster Q pops needs to just Q on a Non Class Daily (usually less people Q with the classes that are not on the profession dailies) or better yet Q as Revenant (lol) and then swap after map loads.

I ask because I want to know if it procs On Interrupt Sigils. I know Deflecting Shot when traited with Heavy Light does interrupt.

its nice, and unlike cleansing ire its not part of the lightbulb give away. I’ve used it with shrug it off but still don’t think its part of a roam build if you aren’t prepared to pvp you cant roam lower tiers. There’s also no way I would use durability runes without a guardian group as we don’t generate enough boons. if you take last stand you increase stances and the stab means you can swap eternal champion (for zerg swimming) with bloody roar , which helps with the kiters.
I find the best thing for thieves is taking rifle as the alt to keep it flexible, the push on rifle butt and the extra dodge.. gunflame .
I can agree with that. When dueling thieves especially I take bloody roar. And I have a full set of armor with defender runes for dueling, which is better than durability. But if im in a 2-5 man group I always wear my durability rune armor because the boons are much better when scaled for a group.

rousing resilience in roam also looks odd. toughness is only good 5 on 5 when theres alot coming in , even then its better to take fixed damage reduction food as its more efficent on the diminishing returns , 2.5k>3.5 armour is ok for background damage but in pvp against HOT you will get baked in your armour -waste of time.
If you take smash brawler switch discipline for strength.
if you have a wvw guild ask them to give you some tips.
I use Rousing Resilience on my roaming build all the time. Because In T1 I very very rarely come across 1v1. Usually 3 or more try and jump me and with the excess CC flying around I can instantly proc rousing resilience which gives me a nice heal, 1000 extra toughness and stability (from Eternal Champ). Plus with so many thieves around its a free instant heal/Stability since they always mindlessly headshot spam.

Make rewards a function of wins. Even with 50% win rating people will get the gears but tying it to wins will give incentive for people to actually try and win rather than AFK.
They did that for seasons 1-4 where pips were tied to both rewards and winning. And they changed it away from that because of how much people hated that system.
You should be rewarded more for winning more matches, but rewards should not be entirely tied to winning. And that is the system we have now. Winning more games gets you the chests faster, but even if you lose everything you will still get rewards.
The only fix would be a way to realistically determine if a player tried during a match, and giving them no pips for that.
Not quite the same. IN Season 1-4 they tied rewards to progression in the ranking. Where even with 50% win rate you would never progress. Win 1 pip lose 1 pip. Season 5 and 6 they separated ranking from pips and gave pips for winning and some pips for losing. They should give ZERO pips for losing. Then when you reach your skill level (be it bronze or platinum) you should be winning half your matches and still get rewards even if you don’t get out of bronze.

Thanks for posting but as was mentioned and I blame ANET , the build diversity is so low that there are very very very few real choices in what traits to take so pretty much anyone who can read will take those traits. And Marauder/Durability with some zerker pieces are defacto choice for a very long time now.
I personally mix Marauder with some wanderer/Commander pieces for the extra boon duration and toughness. I find that to be very useful for absorbing bursts and the boon duration is great.

When I need my pvp fix I play unranked this season. I haven’t played a PvP match in over a week. Zero ranked games in S6.
Spending 95% of my time in WvW this season. The other 5 % farming Winterberries for my ascended trinkets for all my toons.

PVE players can get ascended gear MUCH MUCH MUCH easier in PVE game modes than in PVP. Any PVE player who is grinding PVP for gear in Season 6 must be a terrible PVE’er. (was a different story in Season 5 when it was super easy to get ascended gear)

I am willing to bet 200 USD. That if instead of a legendary PvE item, that the prize was a extremely good looking skin that had no stats to it. The whole League would’ve had a much healthier and more productive start. However after even long waited short list balanced patch. ANet catered more and more towards the PvEers as more and more of the PvPers lefted the game.
100% agree ive been saying this on the forums for some time now that one of the biggest mistakes ANET made was making the backpiece an actual legendary item instead of a unique Skin.

I play all modes, PVE, PVP, WvW and (ive mentioned this before) ANET messed up with the huge nerf to rewards after making it too easy in Season 5. There is absolutely no reason to PvP UNLESS you like the game mode. The rewards are a joke now. So I am not surprised if there are very few PVE players in PVP this season. Why would they? If they don’t really like the game mode they can get better rewards in PVE.
Me personally ive been spending 95% of my time this season in WvW . I was very disappointed that ANET has not made any progress on Class Specific MMR, Class locking, Class stacking.

When you roll thief and you encounter a 4 dh team, your only option is to reroll, which wouldn’t work with queue locking. They need to add everything at once for a new system to work. It’s like trying to make eyes work without tear ducts. They shot themselves in the foot with the poll. It was voted no, but for good reason. Pvpers don’t want to wait X months for A-Net to fix all the problems locked queuing on its own would cause.

Pretty much the worst thing you can do is bringing a supertank. It wont stop you from getting epidemiced, moaed or focused, but it will make you kitten and moan about how there is no damage where you are standing, surrounded by 10 dead zergers because even the frontline couldnt stand still for 2 seconds in the 10×10m carpet of necro marks stacked 10 deep.
Since when was the commander ever expected to do damage? His job is to NOT to die and drive the zerg. Granted I hate zerging but I do remember most average zergs fall apart when a commander dies

Not needing the 3/4 cast time utility as the build already supplies a lot of burns. Smite Condition for sustains or ToF for that extra dps.
Oh and furthest i’ve got with the build is Rank 28. I kept playing till 3:00am and I deranked to 53 lol :P
Oh I find purging flames on a burn build is amazing in mid team fights. At least at low level I find it funny how many people run in and out of the flames ring.

It has been quite a few months since I’ve bothered with GW2 PvP, only ever logged in for Living World stuff. I’ve used the vanilla GS/Mace then the Berserker version post HoT and it’s always been a setup that was pretty good but never saw widespread use. I looked at Metabattle to see what’s changed since I’ve been away (not much overall), then saw that almost the exact same build I used all the time is now right at the top. The only difference is a few sigil/rune changes and 1 trait. Those differences were generally because I’m a build hipster and often try to find weird little interactions with traits.
Did something major change in the meta to make this build more powerful? Or are players realizing how good the combination of constant light CC with Sigil of Might is? The build was always good against Dragon Hunters, Chronos, and Revs in my experience so I imagine that might have something to do with it.
I never really got into MaceBow. I originally played Sword/Torch Mace/Shield condi for a bit but quickly went to GS Axe/Shield. Then after getting a lot of WvW roaming done on GS M/S I started using it in pvp. But I don’t use the build on Metabattle. I use different runes/sigils because I like to experiment.

Sigil of Absorption: Steal a boon when interrupting a foe.
Time to play mesmer or warrior.
The order of boon removal is resistance, aegis, retaliation, swiftness, might, regeneration, quickness, fury and vigor.
Most people only have access to resistance for a few seconds (war berserker stance is a pulsing resistance) . Hardly see Mallyx revs. Aegis is boring., Retal is not bad, Swiftness is meh since everyone except guardians has base movement speed buffs. The good stuff is right near the end with might, regen, quickness.

I moved from Tier 1 to Dragonbrand. Good fights.
I moved from kitten Dragonbrand over a year ago when it was T4. It was fun then. But it went downhill as everyone left and we got slammed. Moved back to T1 and ive been playing a lot more WvW. (I only do small group roaming/havoc)
