One Question. Can you be on legendary rank without having the minimum amount of required games to be on the leaderboard played?
It only affects Top 250 for rewards purposes. You can be any rank. It was designed to prevent what happened last season where people played 10-15 matches and then simply played some games to prevent decay and stay on leaderboard. Now you need to have played on average 15 matches per week of the season to be on leaderboard.
Now you can of course play hundreds of matches in the first couple weeks and then just come back at the end to remove your decay but at least now you have to plays 15 x (numbers of weeks in season) to be eligible for the Top 250 Rewards.

The problem is that from a psychology point of view. ANET gave super easy rewards in Season 5 to encourage PVE players into PVP. Then this season they went overboard with the amount of grind necessary to get the gear. Since PVE players by definition can get ascended gear by other means it is now easier and most likely more fun for PVE players to get their ascended gear in their preferred game mode.
The ascended gear from PVP is in no way an enticement for those players anymore,
Yes pvp players will play but that’s not the point. PVP has a population issue. The S6 rewards do nothing to bring players who may not really care for the game mode.
I like pvp but as I said before if I don’t enjoy the season (for whatever reason) there is no additional incentive to keep playing. May as well be in WvW with its super slow rewards.

mercenary amulet (which is what I believe you want) was OP. Literally every condi build had it. And to the poster who said you need more than just condition damage. Err no. You can do just fine with condition damage. You can get duration from runes and sigils.

Rev is strong BUT only in the hands of absolute top players. When you compare that to DH, War, Druid that is very effective in the hands of a complete noob who spams buttons. In equal skilled hands a Rev is a poor choice for most of the pvp community. Literally nearly everyone will have more success playing a different class.

I must be one of the few people who barely looks at what the daily profession is. That’s because pretty much every day you can substitute the daily profession requirement with a 2 min vista viewing or a mystic toilet with 4 dirt cheap sigils.

I agree it should always have been SKINS from the start (the legendary backpack was a terrible idea) but ANET opened Pandora’s Box when they gave ascended gear in Season 5 and the backpack from S1.

Since Heavy Metal Ranger has been confirmed I think it’s time we discussed dual shield Guardian. I want to be able to sit in my safe space and never take damage.
That’s fine with me, since the Heavy Metal Ranger will have unblockable attacks clearly.

yeah dulled senses and zealots aggression synergize really well with permeating wrath. I always use take those 2 traits if im running permeating wrath. The cover condis work really well. Permeating wrath is good if you can stick to team fights.

This is what I would use. GS Sword/Shield. Use the shield to push people through your Test of Faith and then GS 5 to pull them back in.
Sword for the mobility and projectile defense. Same with Shield.
All marauder gear because you need HP. I use condi reduction food since its cancer everywhere in wvw plus the extra vitality.
Traveller runes because I hate being slow and since you are double melee you need movement speed or you will be easily kited.
You can always swap the sword for scepter so that you can keep the pressure up on people trying to kite and also the immobilize is good.

I agree that last season was too easy but this is the pendulum swinging massively the other way. ANET doesn’t know how to do things in steps.
I personally will pvp for fun. If I don’t enjoy the season i’ll head back to WvW. Because as of this moment the ascended gear grind is not enough of an incentive to play unless im enjoying the game mode. I barely play 300 matches per season so currently I don’t have a way to get this unless I win every match which isn’t going to happen.

Warrior with Fast Hands stands to gain significantly from a shift to this new system where almost all sigils are on-swap. Think about the cycle of weapon swap sigils with 5 seconds recharge— you can activate a unique pair of procedures every 5 seconds, or twice as often as other classes. To a lesser extent, Revenant gains an advantage as well.
Correct me if im wrong but I don’t see any On Swap sigils that have a 5 sec CD. All of them are 9 sec as usual.

None have a 5 second recharge, but you can have sigils A and B on weapon 1 proc, then 5 seconds later have sigils C and D proc on weapon 2. As soon as you can swap back to weapon 1, both of those sigils are off of cool down.
It has always been like this for Warriors, where they basically receive twice the benefit from on swap sigils because they can cycle weapon swaps twice as fast. The problem is that now pretty much all sigils are based on weapon swaps, while the few remaining on-hit sigils are pretty much garbage. And let’s not talk about the passive…
Simply put this setup really benefits Warrior and Rev, while it hinders Ele and Engi.

This means, for example, that a warrior can do a massive multi hit dps burst AND inflict stacked conditions at the same time? You’re talking about nuke level damage for War and ranger.
This will more or less turbo charge damage. That’s precisely the opposite of what we need.

Unfortunatly I havent tried guardian runes mainly because i already make a good amount of dps with balthazar runes and good amount of stacks. Using guardian rune would decrease my condi dps. And i dont want that even tho the stacks might be more. Its all about bursting the enemy faster before he toys with me. And i get alot of CDs

as you have seen on most of my vids i run solo and with HCM sometimes, honestly i don’t get why do ppl need traveler runes, if u are looking for fights you should be the one following ppl, the same goes for the enemies they will be coming to you, maybe it would be useful when you are running from 10+ or a zerg, but as u have seen in this vid i was running from 4 guys , the moment i stood and fought i got 3 downed, i new after that that i should have fought them from the start, but i unfortunately wasted alot of skills running. + you got sword 3, judges intervention and wings of resolve for mobility, for me i have used these 3 alot in running from ppl, catching them, and running from zerg ( i can make a ful montage of me using these 3 to escape zergs, and run from enemies easilly) and hey its better to die to 5+ rather than 1-2.

I tend to run solo or unorganized small groups so cant always rely on getting swiftness. Im average at best so I can fight 1v2 but 1v3+ gets difficult for me.
When im in a group with a rev that can give perma swiftness then It feels good to run Balthazar runes.

I still think ANET should allow us to choose stats for Weapons, Armor and “Amulet” so that we could theoretically choose Zerker Weapons, Valkyrie Armor and Marauder Amulet (as an example)
This would give greater flexibility in stats and more build variety.
Not overly complex for new players to understand while allowing experienced players to experiment more.

What is known: Dire thieves are everywhere, as are anything that can stealth (DH, MES, RNGR, ENG) and with exception of a guild running, wvw is now a 40 man pvp arena with all stealth.

I like the guardian runes. If you look at 4:44 of the video I stack 10 burn just from blocking the reapers attacks.
In 1v1 Balthazar is the way to go for sure. In small to medium size fights I think Guardian runes help out more. People don’t pay attention to what they’re hitting so they’ll just attack away while you’re blocking.
But I think the way they’ll work the best is if you get at least 20% condition duration from trailblazer, which would bring your burn up to 80%
I currently have 2 sets. A carrion set with traveler runes and a dire set with balth runes. Both cases I use dire accessories and trailblazer weapons. I like the traveler set if I want more mobility and im in a small group (less than 5 people). Last night I was in an 8 man group and I went with balth runes since I could get swiftness from my team and we did very well against groups more than twice our size. Purging flames with the Balth runes can really put down the hurt.
I do agree that in big groups where enemies just spam skills the using F3 or Shelter heal can end up blocking 10-20 attacks which is a lot of burn stacks.

Rune Suggestions
Rework rune of the tempest for boon duration. Rework 6 skill since its very situational and not reliable. I’d do something like gain 1stack of stab for 1s everytime a shout is used (idk really its just bad right now).
I have disagree. I think rune of the tempest is actually very good on classes with low CD stunbreaks. I use it on one of my characters and your suggestion would completely ruin it for me.

So, I assume this means because YB has a few dedicated players that spend hours upon hours in WvW which would also assume they would also gain ranks at the same time doing things in WvW makes them highly populated but on the same level having servers that have lots of players spending a hour or so on WvW but not gaining ranks because they are not in long enough makes them underpopulated in your algorithm.
Does this not penalise a server for having dedicated WvW players?So in theory, similar to a post above a server could have 500 players dedicated spending hours in WvW and then a server have 1000 players doing just a couple of hours, but the server with 500 gets locked.

Server 1: 100 players playing on average 2 hours each = 100×2=200 player hours
Server 2: 75 players playing on average 6 hours each = 75×6=450 player hours.
It is obvious that server 2 is more active that server 1 and as such could theoretically be out numbering server 1 quite often during the day as the server 1 players logoff after only 2 hours playing.
In this situation its fair to allow Server 1 to not be FULL and for server 2 to be Full. As people transfer to server 1 the player hours should increase.

How do you deal with being so slow without traveler runes or using retreat/staff? Are you always in a group that can provide swiftness?
This is the issue I have with WvW builds…so much running and I never feel comfortable slotting in movement speed abilities.
Which is why my condi guard uses Traveller runes. I don’t zerg and if im in a small group and have to run back to join them I’d like to be able to do that some time this century. I don’t want to use a utility slot for retreat. Not even temporarily since with all the stealth roamers I don’t want to get caught out in the open with one less utility.

ive used all 3 runes and my preferred for small group roaming is still durability while using some boon duration armor. When roaming in a 5 man group where at least 3 of you have durability runes, you will have over 60% uptime on protection and regen.
With defender runes and using a sigil of concentration on the shield I will have permanent regen boon if I use my shield 5 properly.
Tempest rune problem is that you almost want to drop Eternal Champion for bloody roar other wise the stability uptime is so good you will rarely need to use a stun break and so you don’t really get the heal that often.

I’m actually curious to see who uses runes of melandru in this current meta. Call me ignorant or w/e, I really don’t see using this rune to be used over things like Durability, trooper, mercy for frontline revive roles.
I use Durability or Defender. I do know one top streamer who roams with Melandru sometimes.

As kerivek said spec Shouts and use retreat and save yourselves , with sword and you should have no issues with exploration. No need for staff or traveler runes. Also if you put a sigil of speed on your main weapon you will have perma swiftness as you kill ambient creatures.

Theres no way I would put my DH higher than my power warrior for mobility in WvW.

fun video. Question as mentioned by Xanctus have you tried rune of the guardian. My problem in wvw when I play burn guard is that its just way too slow movement wise which is why I end up using traveler runes. No where near as good as Balthazar runes but it does have +10 condition duration and ofc 25% movt speed.
If I was sure to have access to swiftness by my group etc then I would consider Balthazar or Guardian runes, but unfortunately I cannot always rely on that since I tend to roam solo or join small groups of roamers.

I can’t believe people are actually complaining about this. The retaliation gained from light field blasts was mostly pointless and probably made light fields one of the worst field types in the game.
I’m really glad they changed it to a cleanse; it fits with the theme of light a lot better too.
sorry to break it to you but as a scrapper player I used to blast lightfield from elixir gun 5 with egun 4 ALL THE TIME. it was very effective for pvp. Im seriously disappointed with this change.

You conveniently forgot to add the traited ep for 2xep, and added duration from trait. Boon corrupts aren’t a thing yet in most classes. If you use 2 cc’s in 3s you’re blowing cooldowns for what most likely wont be a kill because the passive will kick in.
Ive yet to come across a warrior that takes “last stand” trait. The worst choice of the GM traits on that line.

I still think not worth it. Eternal Champion stability is more than enough. I’d rather take rousing resilience if facing a team with no condi and a lot of cc. That way any CC that strips my stability and I get stunned I can stun break and get 1000 toughness and a 2.5k heal.

I think we have to face it, with Colin gone (Engi main player if I recall), most of the enthusiasm/knowledge or focus for this class has probably gone too. But then again I could be TOTALLY wrong and am hoping so!
Engi main here and I dunno about this update yet, still haven’t logged in and assessed all the changes. But I’m gonna miss my Elixir Gun Skill 5+4 Retaliation combo. Gone for what, a measly 1 cond removal? Sure it’s meant to aid in “supporting allies” but really just 1 cond? Come on it should be at LEAST 2-3!
