Does anyone know of any threads dedicated to areas like this? I tried to find one before and failed. But I like to explore the world and find random little hidden caves and whatnot.
The scaling for the event is really weird. I was able to succeed in breaking the shield by myself once because i was lucky enough to find the event when no one was around. There were only 3 seekers to deal with. I killed two and left one alive. But later on, i tried the event with 3 other people and the seekers just overwhelmed the event. There was no way to break the shield fast enough.
Let’s call them Fenemies
It feels like I’m flying!
In the Battle For Lion’s Arch in GW1, didn’t Zinn and Blimm make something that allowed non-ascended people (the NPC’s) to see and attack the Mursaat? I thought that was the reason why we weren’t the only ones able to do anything against them in that battle. Or did it just do some weird voodoo against Spectral Agony and leave us with weirdly efficient NPC allies?
I guess the “social justice” well is running dry.
I’m disappointed. Your other posts always had that trolly provocative feel, but still inspired actual discourse about things. This one is just. Weird.
Charrmour. I will call it Charrmour.
Well, Livia did come from a time when we could have two professions xD. But if she did have a second job, it’d probably be ritualist. That discord build was popular!
I assume, though, that if they did bring Livia back into the game, they’d not give her a second profession. Just narrow her down to Necromancer.
Livia is/was a necromancer. Unless Queen Jennah is a zombie, I doubt Livia has any real involvement.
My guess is because it was released long before we got the ability to glide, but it’d be neat if they added it as a glider skin too.

Fun? FUN?! You think this is just a game? For fun?!
I guess that’s fair, I mostly just grind away SW while I watch tv these days. It’s something to do until they add more stuff.
If by “work” you mean motivate me to do my dailies, then yes. I’d say so.
Also: Just reached my 10k AP. So thats nice

Rabid squirrel on a stick!
Rabid because conditions!
But if we could add a nonexistent weapon? I’d say whip or scythe (even though the scythe would probably just work like the GS does now) for style!
As for pre-existing weapons, I think maybe a torch with some support skills? Or make axe equippable in off-hand.
Am I the only one who’s paid attention ever and realized that most of the human nobility are either idiots or into shady things. I think you can count the ones who shouldn’t be executed on one hand.
Like, the Noble Encampment in Verdant Brink sums things up pretty well. Also, daily reminder that Gnashblade did nothing wrong. And if he had been elected, he would have built a wall and made Mordremoth pay for it.
And it will keep out all the Sylvari. Who are taking our crafting professions! And they’d not coming over with their best people. They’re bringing in their Mordrem and their pact killers! I’m sure some of them are wonderful people though.
There are vendors that sell fireworks year round if you want to do your own thing
Napoleon was not short. But it doesn’t matter because he is apparently adorable in Quaggan form. I would pay twice the normal mini rate for Admiral Quaggan.
It’s not leg day, bruh!
I don’t know if I’d consider my self a “lore master”, but I do remember reading that Vinetooths were specifically made to kill the Exalted by ripping their masks off. Maybe a connection is in there somewhere
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exalted
“Exalted cannot be killed by normal means, and their energy cannot be corrupted by the Elder Dragons. However, they will die a “final death” should their masks be torn off, or they sacrifice themselves in an explosion of energy. To fight the Exalted, Mordremoth created the Mordrem Vinetooths to remove their masks in battle. Should an Exalted die, their mask is to be placed in the Masks of the Fallen memorial, where only those most trusted by the Exalted are allowed to enter."
Edit: Gorseval looks like a vinetooth with super powers. So thats probably where he got his mask.

I can’t get on until 12 am eastern, but the Bring Penguins to Tyria movement was with you in spirit!
The chakk aren’t too bad to fight. But I hate how they tag you into combat while youre trying to get somewhere, then just kind of wander around aimlessly in the area. Not chase you. Not continue to try to kill you, making themselves obvious targets that you can kill to drop out of combat. Nope. Just tag you and hang around just close enough to keep you in combat. And they never travel alone. Meaning there’s no way to know exactly which Chak tagged you. No, you have to stop and kill EVERY chak in the area and hope more don’t join in before you’re done.
Because Caithe is one of the stealthiest people around and we were in areas the Mordrem had strength/access to easily? :P
And she never thought we were incompetent. Hate the explanation she gave if you want, but she did say she got a new wyld hunt to protect the egg/take it somewhere safe (I think she saw Tarir in it), and it was incredibly overpowering.
I love Canach in an out of character manner, but I see no reason why the PC should extend the incredible amount of trust they did (IMO) to him.
Something she never bothered to mention beforehand. A simple heads-up would have saved us a lot of time chasing a greenish ninja through the jungle. But she didn’t tell us anything. There’s no other way I can take that. She just didn’t trust us, either with the egg or the information regarding her actions. And it was just rude.
I think the betrayal element added to a lot of hate for Caithe. It’s certainly why I would have preferred killing her over Faolain by the end of the story. (I would have liked to kill both, but I really hated Caithe). With Canach, we have a guy we had no reason to trust or even like. He was kind of a bad guy. And we expect a bad guy to do bad things. Up until we’re pleasantly surprised when he ends up doing good things.
Caithe was the opposite. While what Caithe did wasn’t technically “bad” or malicious, it was a complete breach of trust. Here was a person we had put a lot of faith into to help us and generally be our friend, and she goes and steals Glint’s egg from us. We were on the same side. All parties involved wanted the egg to be safe, but she stole it from us for…what? Because she thought we were too incompetent to handle it? We ended up spending time and resources on a ridiculous goose chase just to make sure we and Caithe were still on the same side.
I guess this means Bubbles is out. Still holding out hope for Salty Pete, though.
The name Old Ascalon didn’t appear until after the searing and refered to the (now barren) area just outside the still populated part of Ascalon City
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ascalon_(pre-Searing)#Explorable_areas
It’s a fictional faction using propaganda against other fictional factions that include fictional groups of people. There really isn’t anything to read into here. Saying the use of propaganda is a reference to some real life event is like saying the use of weapons is a reference to the US conflict in Vietnam. Specifically Vietnam. Not literally every war ever that had weapons involved.
Propaganda, such as the “Them vs. us” mentality is a natural occurrence in every conflict. Even made up ones.

Even without the issues of fairness or whatever, the armor just looks awkward. That’s it. I don’t even care about the “equality” or perceived sex ism, or whatever. I’m sure they’re all good points. I just can’t get past how incredibly weird the breast cups look on those armors.
“I mean you don’t allow heaveyset chicks in this game.”
To be fair, I don’t think anyone who runs around half as much as we do in this game would be “heavyset” for very long. Murdering everything burns calories.
Seriously? Do you know how hard it is to find a shirt for heavy armored males? Especially the norn. Those guys have like a religious aversion to shirts.

Why don’t they make half naked male armors too?!
I think it’d be less confusing to just let ALL of the maguuma jungle count for such events. Central Tyria and HoT maguuma jungle IS all the maguuma jungle, so it’d make sense that “Daily Maguuma xxx” would apply to… all of the maguuma jungle.
But, I’m kind of on Ayrilana’s side on this one. The change really becomes a lot less necessary when the daily tracker literally specifies exactly which part to look in.
EW! A well written point! (And saying your initials as your name makes sentences fun)
His argument isn’t invalid. Just not worded as specifically as you want. I’m pretty sure his problem with rainbows and unicorns has nothing to do with the fact that they’re rainbows and unicorns. His problem was with tying such things to events he’d rather not deal with in video games.
It’s a good thing you don’t decide which points are relevant or not.
I suppose it won’t hurt anyone to make a suggestion.:D
And I wouldn’t be surprised if some Anet people showed up at this marching thing to show support. I think that’d be nice.
(edited by Squee.7829)
Of course, at the end of the day, it’s really up to Anet to do something official or leave it to the players. I’m just saying, don’t expect it to not get a lot of complaints. And not just because bigots.
Edit: a lot of them will be bigots though. Or trolls. Or…bigot trolls I guess. And if you participate in the pride March thing, expect said trolls to be there. I suggest ignoring them. And the neat thing about player made events is that there really isn’t anyone who can tell you you can’t do it. What are they going to do? Stop talking to you. Big loss there :p
If you disagree with the player driven march simply don’t attend it. Problem solved
(edited by Squee.7829)
You may be interested to know there is a player driven pride March planned for the 25th at 5pm PST (I think).
Feel free to join that if you’d like.
That being said, I think showing support and all is great, but would be in everyone’s best interest to keep these things player driven. The company can show support or even endorse such events, but would probably not benefit from doing anything official.
Reading up on your post history, I can see that this probably won’t sit well with you, as you seem to REALLY be into what people refer to as social justice (with an often unnecessary negative connotation), but you have to accept that not everyone has the same beliefs as you. And Anet probably does too. So understand that if Anet doesn’t make any official event or item, it’s not a slight against you or your views. It’s just a company doing its job and being inclusive to ALL of its customers. Not just the ones that agree with you.
Also, there’s the often brought up issue of people just wanting an “escape” in their games. So please stop assuming everyone who disagrees with you is just “hating fairness” and equality or whatever. That doesn’t help your cause. Just makes people think you just can’t handle other people’s views, which is exactly the kind of mindset that makes life hard for the LGBT community.
(edited by Squee.7829)
Maybe the lack of riding items, like brooms and carpets, is due to a lack of interest. I’m just speculating, because I have literally no idea how well the current items sold, but it seems like not a lot of people use their brooms or carpets. Which leads me to assume not a lot of people bought them. So I would then assume Anet wouldn’t bother to make more item skins if no one seems interested in getting them.
But this, again, is 100% assumption. There could be a ton of reasons why they don’t. Maybe they just haven’t gotten around to making more mount-like items yet, but plan to. I don’t know.
But I think a motorcycle would fit right in. We literally turn into (“remote control”) one in one of the HoT adventures.
Maybe, but I think it’s more likely that there just isn’t a whole lot going on right now. Being a free to play game (after an initial payment), it’s probably going to have its moments where people leave during the slow periods and come back when things pick back up again, since there’s no obligation (monthly fee being wasted on a game your’e not playing) to stick around.
My nights mostly consist of doing my dailies, then going to silverwastes where I grind my life away and wonder about the direction my life is heading. I’ve spent so much time at Amber Sandfall I feel it should be my guild hall by now, but at least it’s a fairly lucrative affair.
Also I may be prone to exaggeration.
But not about the amber sandfall thing. I really do spend more time there than probably anywhere else in gw2.
I think it would be neat to know Charr prehistory. Like, how old is the race, and if they existed during the last dragon rise, why do they seem to be the only civilised race doesn’t have any mention of it. Or if they didn’t get civilized until afterwards, what was that process like? All this assuming, as Drax mentioned, they’re native Tyrians. Which I assume they are.
Because grenth decided it wasn’t this thread’s time yet! Obviously.
They already nerfed them once. And I still can’t get gold on most of them. But I’m terrible at them. I know I’m terrible at them. And I know this is 100% my problem. Because I find them tedious and don’t put forth the effort to get good at them, as many other people have done, I never managed to clear all of them. So i got masteries from raids instead. But my attitude toward adventures isn’t something Anet can or should fix.
To me, adventures are like jump puzzles. I hate them and I’m terrible at them, but some people are really into it. And if you’re not, there are plenty of other things to do that aren’t adventures or jump puzzles. So I’m glad they exist exactly as they are, even if I don’t personally enjoy them. They add variety to the game so it’s not all just “go here! Hit this guy a lot!”
Edit: except shooting gallery. I don’t recall a single person ever talk about that one being fair or even moderately easy to do. That one can go die in a fire.

Nudist. For earning x amount of xp while not wearing armor.
Yes.
It is exactly as Diovid said. Anet did just fine with the Mursaat. It’s the players linking every unsolved mystery to them that was out of hand.
If you really don’t care about immersion, why bother changing (or re-doing) the personal story at all? If you look like a Charr, but the game acts like you’re a Sylvari, why does it matter?
I’m not arguing against your logic, by the way. I agree with you. If you don’t care about immersion, then that’s your right. You play how you want to, and this really doesn’t affect other people. So go for it. I just think changing your personal story is a lot of work for nothing. Do you really care if the story gets a few details wrong once i a while if you’re not really looking to be immersed?
If you’re willing to accept that future and past personal story events don’t quite sync up, then I say go for it. Be the Charr on the outside you always felt you were on the inside, you beautiful fuzzy kitten!
This would probably make a complete mess of any future personal story arcs that involve your race.
“. The fact that simply tagging up and goofing off could wreak so much confusion and anger during an event like this was really stunning. "
And it’s also completely out of the dev’s hands. They provided us commander tags, and that’s it. Whether we (the players) choose to go full sheep mode and follow them to failure, or completely ignore them (and ultimately make com tags useless map clutter) is completely up to player behavior. We just happened to choose the first option.
This map has been around long enough and there are enough veterans there at any given time that I think it’s a little odd that the map was allowed to fall apart for so long before anyone had the chance to catch on and go “hey, maybe this guy isn’t really playing to the standard”.
Of course I’m not saying you shouldn’t report the guy. He definitely went out of his way to ruin the experience of other players, and should be punished accordingly. I’m just saying, before we start demanding the devs take action about commanders and the subsequent sheep mentality, maybe we should take a look at how WE behave. If the tag your following suddenly starts running you off in completely wrong directions, it’s completely on your hands if you just keep following it. Even when everyone else in the map is telling you your commander is incompetent. And it’s obvious that people kept following him, as there is no way one guy acting on his own (i.e. abandoned by his followers for gross incompetence) can possibly ruin the entire map.
