Actually running out of lf is something you may want sometimes (a hint if you dont understand: the cooldown of ds is not reseted that way). This however heavly depends on the fact that, with the right setup, you can regain lf really fast to even make use of the absense of a cooldown.

Also i think you are wrong if you reduce ds to a simple defensive mechanic, it is more than that. Especially for power necros, who normally have a high lf regain rate.

Nah I mean to say that sitting in any weapon set is not a good idea because your opponent will change their tactics accordingly.
I believe DS is meant to be a defensive mechanic, along with control conditions. Using it for purely offensive means isnt a good way to approach the mechanic imo. The best offense is a good defense. To me necro is all about countering what your opponent is doing.

Every build in this game is spammy. I dont care if you are a maxed out dhuumfire necro or zerker thief, at a certain point every class spams some damage because that is the viable way to win. This game is not meant to be very difficult.

Siege spam is so boring.

Almost as boring as blobs of 50 players PvDooring by pressing the 1 key.

Arrow carts are the force equalizer for outnumbered servers. If a player has an issue with them, they in all likelihood have just announced to the world they are a zerger who doesn’t know any strategy or tactics beyond auto-attacking a gate to getz the phat lutz inside.

There is not a single spot anywhere in the game that an AC can be built to cover a gate for which a counter doesn’t exist. If someone lacks the patience or the will to do what it takes to counter it, that’s the player’s problem, not the game’s problem.

If that kind of strategic play and counter-play is not to your liking, then you’re in luck. The Edge of the Mists map is a PvDooring zerger’s dream come true.

Almost as boring as a couple of siege monkeys auto-attacking by pressing the 1 key.

Organized guilds are the force equalizer for outnumbered servers. If a player has an issue with them, they in all likelihood have just announced to the world they are a siege monkey who doesnt know any strategy or tactics beyond auto-attacking a gate to getz the phat lutz outside.

There is not a single karma train in the game that cannot be taken down. If someone lacks the patience of joining a guild, that’s the player’s problem, not the game’s.

Focus will help. Try corrosive poison cloud to get him to use his zerker stance early. Put a sigil of nullification on the focus for when he pops his first stability, and bring spectral walk and corrupt boon. Bring the flesh golem for cripple spam, decent damage, and an awesome knockback. Lingering curse might be necessary, as well as hemophilia and some condi duration runes. Good luck.

Well for pve DS is subpar as mentioned in spoj’s stickied post.
In small team pvp being able to do dps in and out of DS is a must, because DS IS a defensive mechanic. Sitting in it until you run out of LF is not going to get you anywhere.
In zerg warfare sitting in DS is fine because once you are caught it doesnt matter how much LF you have.
I personally always go 30 into soul reaping. If I go with zerk amulet then I grab FitG or soldiers with deathly perception.

Power necro is pretty well rounded. They arent meta in pvp, yet they are fun to learn. They arent top choices in pve either, but most pug groups wont mind as long as you have the right build and do the right damage. Part of what makes em fun for me is the fact that they are subpar.

If you ever want anything bigger then 5 man, BP is not the place to be. I ran with my guild group of ~20 and the fights were too far in between. Recently transferred.
That said, I do know that there are some great small man teams on BP.

The issue with it being a daze is that Pistol Whip would no longer even have a single guaranteed hit. Honestly I don’t think anyone thinks about these suggestions before they type them out.

The fact that the skill can and is used over and over would guarantee hits. Do you have a better idea?

Something I wished they had worked on as well. Perhaps remove the cap but also buff condi removal? This could make such a player vital to the team success.

I think condition removal needs a serious rework. As of right now we have long cooldown, powerful purge, single proc condi removals. I think it would be better for both power and condi based if cleanses worked over time, removing a couple stacks or duration, based on what condition is on the player.
For example:

Joe has 10 stacks of bleed, 5 seconds of chill, 6 seconds of poison, and 4 stacks of torment.

Joe uses Hold the Line, with both Pure of Voice and a full soldier rune set.

Instead of the bleeds and chill being completely removed, each condition is affected by a set percentage which either removes stacks or lessens duration over time (depending on if the skill says to remove the condi or convert it, also the strength of the condition. confusion is not as easy to access as bleeds).

For each second over 5 seconds, Joe has all of his current (assuming Joe has no -40% food or -33% traits) bleeds reduced by 10%, chill by 5%, poison by 7%, torment by 5%.

So after 5 seconds Joe now has (assuming he has no other conditions come his way for the sake of the explanation) 5 stacks of bleed, 3 1/4 seconds chill, 3 3/4 seconds poison, and 3 stacks of torment.

Imo it would be best if the same skill didnt stack, but condi removal skills from a different profession could stack on one player. So Hold the Line, For Great Justice, and Cleansing Wave would stack, and any time one of these same skills are used then the duration is simply reset. I would guess that there would also need to be a cap on how many condition removals skills (and power of each, my Hold the Line just a poor example) could be active on any one player, so to prevent any condi immunity and at the same time give them enough power to be useful in small team or 1v1.

I think a system like this would be the best for both sides because it would level out the damage burst of conditions while still giving them play. Cleanses are at the same time too weak and too powerful, in that they can remove 25 stacks of bleed, only to have it come back again after a bit.

In theory this would hopefully be better, but it probably prove to be too much for the servers.

I would like to add a 3rd point:

Most Condition attacks are very poorly telegraphed and have indistinguishable animations.

They have poor cues because they have poor initial damage.

Lasts 4 sec, 5 if traited.
CD 90 sec, 72 if traited.
Very slightly larger.
Heals 1k at creation, heals 200 per pulse for the 5 sec.
Is not a combo field.
Makes people inside invuln to all aerial/ ground based channeled/pulsing. Effects siege.
Yes? No? Maybe so?

Proposal Overview
Shorter matchups, cross-server allies, vertical npc scaling, more objectives, more chokepoints/terrain changes.
Goal of Proposal
With shorter matchups we can eliminate the following: stale matchups, low server moral causing people to not play wvw.
" cross server allies ": same as above.
" vertical npc scaling ": some of the negative aspect of zerg mentality.
" more objectives ": same as above.
" more chokepoints/ terrain changes ": same as above.
Proposal Functionality
Shorter matchups: 3 days each, 2nd day cross server allies are possible, 1st and 3rd day its only your server.
Cross server allies: sell a 10 use item on the gemstore that allows a player to play in wvw on a different server. Once activated the use lasts for the duration of the 2nd day. Unheeded suggestion: 200 gems not 800 :).
Vertical npc scaling: the enemy npc could have increased stats depending on how many opposing players are inside the capture point.
More objectives: borderlands could have a camp in ruins that spawns npc groups that run to friendly camps and guard yaks to their destination. In EB the spawn rate of hylek/dredge/ogres could be greatly increased.
More chokepoints/terrain changes:
Borderlands
Los breakers – south of south camp bridges, paths leading to north camp.
Paths – spawn to vale, entry point to ruins to the nw of briar along the cliff face, route in faithleap nw of the capture point to the left of the ramp that leads to the east of the rock face that blocks the jp entry, entry point to ruins west of hills.
Eternal battlegrounds
Los breakers – north of anzalias leading to speldan, in golanta, ne of green spawn south of keep.
Paths – small area south of hylek to the camps to the east and west, entry to hylek via south of sm.
Associated Risks
Shorter matchups and cross server allies may get some qq from server pride, vertical npc scaling may get some qq from karma trainers, more objectives may get some qq from roamers, more chokepoints/ terrain changes may get some qq from pugs/ zergs.

Wells are good. I think your best bet is to have as many control conditions (cripple, weakness) as possible and to draw as much aggro as possible without going down. Wouldnt bother going into healing power, it just isnt worth it on necro. It is almost possible in pve, but in pvp your role is pressure and spike support. That role is not likely to change unless healing power gets a huge buff, which is unlikely because of the massive balance horror it would be.

It’s hard to calculate the difference damage with and without a cover condition.
But by itself, I doubt that the scepter auto attack and Grasping Dead can average 2k/10sec more with Lingering Curse, especially when you’re using other skills as well.

Stand alone no, but combined with hemophobia, 20 in spite, 2 krait 2 centaur 2 lyssa it destroys dhuumfire in damage. My scepter auto nearly doubles in bleeding damage. Sure its hard to tell with cleanses and whatnot, but thats the math.

Dhuumfire only does around 2k in my condition build in pvp, so imo its pretty weak compared to lingering curse.

Against some. Every game has counters. People that dont realize this, should.

Boon stripping is really weak and should be improved. Currently the counters are too few and underwhelming.

There are two counters to Retal… boon strip (smaller fights) or out heal (larger fights). Most guardians don’t even notice Retal in a zerg on zerg fight because they are in the stack healing over the damage. IMO players who complain about Retal are usually brittle, outside the stack or hitting a much larger force without thought.

I’m not talking about retal only, I’m talking about the perma boon balls of players that never have a counter. A well of corruption or null field will get 1 maybe 2 tics off of one player, only to have the boon replaced immediately. This is imo worse then the condi meta.

Will glory boosters be replaced with something else, both existing in inventory and as drops through chests?

How will we pay for rabbit/deer/dolyak etc. chests now that glory is going to be removed? If with gold, about how much per?

this was done in 3 sec, gl dodging all that aoe while being feared non stop

condis can burst as fast as direct dmg if not faster

worse, the amount of condi comming from some AA (hello scepter necros) is simply absurd; i rolled that build for funzies on my necro, i killed ppl with AA alone….skill yo

riiight 83 hits of bleed in 3 seconds. if youre going to argue against any meta you at least cant lie about obvious pieces of evidence.

I still stand by my statement that pulsing aoe condition skills would be a help to smaller groups. Conditions seem to be much easier on the lag, and kiting is the best deterrent against big melee groups.
