Wow an honest, well thought out and simple suggestion.
Dont see too many of those anymore.
+1
If you put down your aoe in the right spot at the right time it will get more procs.
Mindlessly spamming it at the beginning of the fight is an exampe of how to do it wrong.

This probably happened because you are very near the starting MMR. It happens, but we are working on improving things so it won’t happen nearly as often.
So many people in this community bash newbies…
With good reason. They aren’t very good.
One of several reasons I’m glad we’re going to keep ranks. (Thanks, community!
) Ranks should act as a decent proxy for game-knowledge, allowing us to place people better.
Newbies can learn with people that won’t dominate them, which is good because that isn’t very fun. Trolls, err… veterans won’t have to worry as much about picking up the slack. Win/Win.
After reading this, I have come to the conclusion…

Its about time you drew the short straw. Can’t stay lucky forever.
The other day I took on 2 glass thieves in their camp with all npcs up for a good minute on my zerker necro. Downed one of them. Jus sayin.
Warhorn is amazing in wvw, you should give it a try.
There are plenty of good wvw builds floating around here.
If you want more burst damage, I suggest dropping 10 in curses and picking up axe/warhorn with the axe trait.
Imo find a general template that suits you and dont stop tweaking until you find exactly what you want.
Make blind cause players to miss 90% of attacks like gw1.
Noooooooott.
Quick! To the Bugmobile!
Well I derived my comment from your imagination that completely removing the aoe cap is a good thing for the game.
5 skilled, well positioned eles would have no problem wiping groups much larger then them with the nado bomb. That isnt skilled play, its just stupid.
Last time, I think we would all benefit from raising the aoe cap, not completely removing it. Stop being so defensive and realize I’m not completely against your point of view.

I dont think there are many who can answer that question. Best you can do is to keep doing what you are doing.
Im pretty sure that there is no limitaion though.
No it would not, simply by the fact that projectile speed is way way waaay to slow for it.
If u realy want tho, u could always get a magic marker, draw a reticle on your screen and turn of auto targeting (which u should anyway).
U can even customize it by using different collors
That is a very good point, one that I cant really argue.
Reticles can be done, but it would make a ranged class a lot harder. I think if leaps behaved the same way, then things might balance out a bit.
I know its a pipe dream, I just want to see how many people are with me or how many I can convince.
The thing that bothers me the most is that we have to have a target selected. During zerg vs zerg, it kind of destroys a ranged class’s potential for damage in a lot of cases.
(edited by Stand The Wall.6987)
Cmon! It would be awesome!
Its a way to introduce pve only players to wvw.
Nothing wrong with that imo.
Except of course when the mobs snipe yaks.
Very excited to give this piece of art a taste of Borlis brutality!
/chest thumps
Listen. Removing the aoe cap only benefits small team. In no way should a team of 5 be able to consistently wipe a team of 40. Why do you think the aoe cap was added in the first place?
I do believe, however, that it should be raised.
Necros are natural counters to anything melee. Well of darkness+chilling darkness, well of corruption, corrosive poison cloud, and plague!! Your spam spam spam can and will outdo their cleanse cleanse cleanse.
Good luck!
roflol. simply perfect.
Awesome collection dude thanks!
Right? How awesome would it be to not have to rely on the selected target when you can just aim? How revolutionary that would be! Guild Wars 2 combat is already leaning in that direction, so why not add such a simple thing to drastically increase fluidity and ease of combat?
I see a functional GW2 reticle without abandoning its mmo values as a positive force for those that choose to activate it. I’m talking options menu settings enabling. The first option simply turns on the reticle. The second allows a player to use a ranged auto attack without a selected target, but still snaps-to the selected target when a skill is activated. The third and final option will not allow a player to look behind them without panning their camera 180 degrees, and any selected target will not get priority when a new skill is activated. Such customization is sure to reinforce many old players love of the game, as well as bring in plenty more new ones, while still allowing traditional mmo players the pace and style that drives their passion.
Is this marketable? Are you kidding me! Every mmo player knows that skins are the #1 seller. Gimme something pretty, gore themed, or what-have-you. Reticles. Yes. I invision an entire panel in the options menu dedicated to the reticle, with a “Buy more reticles on the gem store” link right there in bold beautiful letters. Cmon though, give us a few options to work with at first ya know, whet our appetite, give us a good taste of the many varieties of reticle you have available. Reticles that change from melee to ranged, aoe to cleave, 600 range to 1200 range, large to small, blue to pink. Then we can get into those tasty themed reticles that leaves a drool to my mouth. Thankfully this isnt person to person, cuz you would be like wtf.
Giving players the option is better then not having it at all. It will add a very huge competetive edge to pvp, but hey if youre pve only then nothing is forced onto you. I guarantee that this new reticle system will bring boatloads of new players. I know many gamers myself that want to try an mmo, but cant just outright abandon the reticle deity. Oh yes, deity. Its real, and I believe the GW2 combat system will firmly embrace this new deity with open arms given the chance. Please give us players the chance to prove it.
It will be useless to those who cannot figure out or refuse to adapt to different skill chains.
Dire is great in wvw zerging, but in smaller groups you want (or do you?) more precision.
Great stats Liquid. I’ve been messing around with my stats and I’m not quite sure which way to go. Atm I’m using orbs haha, but melandru does seem the way to go.
Keep on zerkin’.
Why do people think that removing the aoe cap promotes skillful play? What exactly is skillful about aoe?
So now 1 ele can wipe 20 people with a well placed nado bomb? Thats ridiculous.
Guards cant be stability bots without hallowed ground. If you cycle it and place it on top of each water field then you will live a lot longer then not bringing it at all.
BP has great primetime guilds. Could use 1 or 2 more 40+ guilds.
Our sea/ ocx coverage is non existant though.
I want to support this from a 3rd party pov, but dont know how. What should I do?
I recommend engi over ranger because ranger is in a very bad spot for large scale wvw atm. Ranger is great small team or solo, but overall I think engi is more enjoyable because of all the skills they have access to.
I like the idea of elite instances but not protecting npcs. Maybe prot them for just a small portion of the instance?
Anyways, yes, lets have some harder instanced content please.
Warrior – has a lot of weapons available already. check gw1 wiki for dervish.
>torch – #4 stab foe remove boon, 20% more damage if foe is chilled. #5 wide arc swing that burns foes and blinds them.
>staff – martial weapon similar to gw1’s dervish scythe skills.
Guardian – needs some soft cc.
>axe mainhand – #2 soft cc. #3 consecration that interacts with aoe damage in some way.
>mace offhand – #4 2sec symbol chills foes that are on fire. #5 aoe knockback.
>warhorn – #4 cripple if you have more boons then your foe.
Engineer – some condi management, only 1 hard cc on hammer.
>mace mainhand – #3 condi cure.
>torch – #5 1 condi transfer 1 boon steal.
>hammer – nufsed
Ranger – needs wvw zerg love.
>mace mainhand – #3 block cures condi on party.
>pistol offhand – #4 channeled pierce. #5 vuln and weakness aoe?
>staff – 300 range auto. #3 short cd water field. #4 cripple field. #5 40sec cd instant rally.
Thief – needs some defensive weapon skills. idk what to do about their #3 weapon combos. rifle cuz its the only class with 1 ranged weapon.
>axe mainhand – auto cleave. #3 ranged 1 condi transfer.
>mace offhand – #4 weakness and vuln. #5 1/2 daze or evade + steal boon.
>shield – #5 block next attack? aoe prot? next 3 attacks damage reduced?
>rifle – auto pierce 900 range. #2 blind. #3 pushback and burn. #4 aoe daze+weakness?
Elementalist – needs some sustained defense. so many attunements only gonna leave a couple ideas.
>shield – #4 fire aura. #5 air leap+blind. #4 earth block. #5 earth magnetic aura.
>hammer – #3 fire field. #5 leaping blast. #2 air channel. #4 stun. #5 lightning storm. #2 earth immob. #3 blast. #4 water vuln whirl. #5 water field.
Mesmer – more options to improve diversity. (idk bout this one obv)
>axe mainhand – 600 range aoe arc auto (like a boomerang). #3 phantasm exploder.
>dagger offhand – #4 cripple and poison. #5 melee attack teleport forward.
>pistol mainhand – auto summons clone. #3 channel.
Necromancer – needs cleave. needs group support with boons. gsword similar to mesmers.
>mace mainhand – auto cleave 3rd attack siphons. #3 whirl grant 1 sec aoe prot for each foe struck.
>greatsword – 900 range splash damage auto (3 ppl). #2 leap. #3 aoe fury. #4 evade and soft cc. #5 mark.
Some ideas off the top of my head.
plus one
but only if summoned ai is invuln so we can farm like zombies.
forces players to farm queensdale which many players have said over and over again creates a toxic environment for new players. or buy gems. its certainly not helping things.
More boon stripping. Sigils of stamina. Defensive portals (mes drops near beginning of fight and drops again only when all other options are exhausted). Smoke field stealth (viel is lazy and utterly inefficient compared to what blasting/leaping smoke can do). Retal at the right time. Consecrated ground cd cycling. Dedicated CnD thief for finishing downed. Poison field sync with blast finishers (weakness is the best thing to shutdown melee you cant outrun).
Hope some of this helps.
(edited by Stand The Wall.6987)
If there were more water fields and blast finishers with a very low cd, then that would be the best thing for gw2.
Conditions are fine in gw2, but condi removal is not. Instead of long cd bulk cleanses, smaller over time cleanses are more fitting to counter the easily re-appliable nature of condis.
Stats, ai, thief, and vigor are all fine. AI is easy to deal with, thief should have an improved steal and more revealed, vigor should be harder to get.
condi war would be at the top of my list, but i always avoid them now.
right now: hambow. my build is pretty much centered around any cc heavy, dps burst builds.
i think shatter mesmer is fun to play against but i havent seen many skilled ones lately. the top of my list is a pro d/d ele but they are pretty much extinct.
lol sure. anything for the pass.
only if we are all bearbows tho.
Check some youtube vids, and try out some builds in pvp.
I think it looks good except for the wierd bumps in the middle of the legs. Also the tassles on the shoulders are pretty crudely shaped, I wanted to use them but decided against it.
Capes would be awesome. I would expect several types of cape shape, size, trim, color, and all that jazz. A physics control option would be nice too, the option to set your cap to blow like a bag in the wind or be like a heavy carpet. Have most available with guild commendations as well as some cool prestige ones for gems.
It could be profitable……
(edited by Stand The Wall.6987)
The conditions are fine. The condition cleanse skills are not. Currently a 2 condi cleanse will do just that – 2 of the most recent condis regardless of how many stacks. It is unfair to both; 1 skill shouldnt be able to remove 25 stacks, and most of the time the cleanser will remove a condi only to get it right back.
I believe an overhaul is necessary. Every trait and skill that removes a condi now removes a couple of stacks or duration over time. This way the spammable part of condi application is under control and the playing field is more even for both sides.
What about the people that invested a lot in gear before celestial?
baaaaannnzaaaaiiiiiiiiii
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! !! !
bahahahaaa….
awnuuulldd!
For the record we arent “throwing matches”, but more like “taking a break”. DB will never make it up a tier because… yeah. Unless they get some guild transfers. If db sea crew transferred to bp as well as ebay roamers however… we would have the coverage plus great primetime guilds. It would be quite the force. You transfer! No you!
Honestly I’m on the fence here.
On one side, I like running with 20-30 and facing greater numbers, as well as an equal force.
On the other, it does bother me that numbers will win pretty much everytime. I think removing the aoe cap will incentivize small groups to the point where it would be unwise to run with anything greater then ~15.
I want to have huge clashes of carnage.
I dont want to be forced to pvp like scale and pace.
The best possible solution, one that should have been included with the launch of the game, is gvg. It was such a huge thing in gw1 that it practically made the game. I think many of the people that wvw are looking for the gvg answer somewhere but just dont find it. Of course there is the unofficial gvg tourney thing, but a lot of people either arent that competetive or are looking for something more casual in gaming.
Btw not all drivers shout and repeat like idiots.
Raising the condition cap to 50 or 100 is a very bad idea. Fine for pve, but thats pve.
(edited by Stand The Wall.6987)
I think having 600 more toughness and 3k more hp does make a difference. Not hard to avoid the hammer train, but with your toughness if you get focused by anything else youre most likely dead.
The only thing I can think of is to make revealed last longer. I doubt anet will ever put a cooldown on any thief weapon skill. Some sort of stealth debuff doesnt make sense.
body blocking would be amazing in practice but would kill latency.
Here is your solution!
Get out of wvw and go play pvp!
All the small team you can handle!
Not everyone wants to have small scale battles all the time.
In fact, most people that play wvw want zerg vs zerg.
Get over it.
who is bp going to fight now. all we get is the db karma train nowadays.
Pretty sure mesmer and guard are above engi in aoe heals.
Engi as best tank is arguable.
Discounting cleave necros have great single target damage.
