Power – deathly perception
Condi – foot in the grave
why fitg? if you are a backliner with stability, you will survive long enough for your skills to take effect. along with a guardian, stacking stability has never been easier.
Flat out immunity is not good. Not for anything or anyone. Curing conditions, imo, should work like this:
Instead of 1 skill removing 15 stacks of bleed or 10 sec of burn
Said skill acts the same way as a condition, over time
Any condi affected gets a certain amount of stacks or duration removed
Said amounts tbd
Waddya think
Seems to me like all the autos need to be faster, besides guard. Hitting reliably without a target would be amazing too.
Bags.
I will never understand why people play for ppt. There are to many broken mechanics against it. To each their own I guess.
lol did zod and gh get tired of wiping to bp?
Does power necro have a place?
The visuals of gw2 are amazing. Open world is very well done, plenty of side quests and areas of interest to keep one sidetracked for a while. Instanced dungeons are fun as well, but most of the time there is a certain trait + gear build people expect you to use.
Every mmo is grindy. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar. That said, there are a couple of different ways to acquire gold in this game to make it seem like it isnt. With 3 completely different game modes, there certainly is enough content to keep one busy for quite a while.
Ranger is in a good place for pvp in heart of the mists, as well as solo roaming in wvw. Not so much in dungeons, although many groups wouldnt mind one if you know what you are doing. Rangers have very little group utility besides immobilize, so zerging will not be your strong point.
My advice to every new player is to do a little research on the forums. Look for different profession builds for the 3 game types and see them in action on youtube. Test pvp builds out yourself to get a feel for how each class is played. You might suprise yourself by trying out a class that was on the bottom of your list.
Play pvp to get a feel for what you want. Watch vids on youtube.
Legendaries are more of a long term goal for most. The stat difference is pretty small, and most people stick with exotics. You can buy them for gold from the tp but they cost a lot, so most people craft them over time. The one thing you have to buy is a precursor, which can be crafted, but most times its more efficient to just buy it.
I think the stave skills for each class are fine the way they are, except that necro mark of blood base power damage should be doubled.
Go for max zoo team comp
spirit ranger
spirit weapon guard
mm necro
pu/phantasm mesmer
win
Better for who?
pu mes and mm roflolotrolo
1. ascended items are a gold sink and do not offer enough of a stat difference for many players to be interested.
2. yep pvp is an entirely different zone from pve and wvw. everything you could want is sold at a vendor for glory. there never will be ascended in pvp, although certain pve skins might make it to pvp (legendaries).
3. dungeons give tokens for exotic equipment, some gold, 70% xp to next level, and some ascended crafting materials.
I would rather necro dies when life force runs out.
Only then can we become headcrab minions that can scale walls.
I agree. Anet is wading through incertain waters by abandoning the trinity, and I believe getting more feedback will only benefit everyone.
This game has a ton of updates compared to other games I’ve played. Its common to see hype about some game then the company will put it on shelves and start development on another. Although not this one I guess.
gw1
minionbombing.
res skills.
condition system.
skill chains that synergize.
crystalline sword.
A lot of people are saying the maps are too small? Wtf? They seem to be on par with some of the biggest maps in pve.
Its easy to blame wvw when it gets a new map. The first meaningful update since launch.

headcrab! give the pistol headcrab flinger button!
necro with pistol offhand…. mehbeh. juuuuust mehbeh.
Why are we helping him kill us? This is madness! Staahhp!
If you are in a team setting, dont use well of protection. Guards and eles stack prot 100x better.
Full zerk is pretty risky. Even if you switched out just your zerk armor for knights, you wouldnt lose much. Couple cavaliers here and there.
Oh, its you again. Hi.
Axe and dagger – solid
Focus – Want it but we have a lot of aoe chill potential already. Maybe chill every other second, or only if a boon is removed?
Scepter – Way to drastic. Stacking bleeds is the main source of condi necro damage, and scepter is the main source of bleeds. By eliminating that, idk man. The torment might compensate, but the way you have it now, we would be stacking vuln, which we can already do with axe. I dont get it. I like the idea of the other scepter skills, except that foul feasts additional damage per condition is way too high.
Staff – Reapers mark is cool. Again, those after cast delays are not good for the staff at all. The way you have it now, practically no one would get hit by a mark. If you think more obvious skill animations are needed, I would start with the staff and end with the staff. Putting more obvious indicators on both the staff and marks is overkill and would render the staff very underpowered.
Trait reworks – sure dont care
Blood magic spells – no comment

A duration debuff imo wouldnt work because a lot of people have the melandru runes. Add the two together and condis are at a huge disadvantage. Discounted the + and – 40% food.
I think a hard cap is needed. Possible examples:
Chill – 10sec
Cripple – 15sec
Poison – 15sec
Burn – 10sec
Everytime someone receives another stacking condi (kittening immob) it is null and void if it exceeds the hard cap limit. I think these values are still very high, but at least we would get some kind of mitigation help in this department.
I like “zerging” (I dont consider ~20 a zerg) because:
- Its a lot harder to sync 20 peoples skills, cooldowns, strengths and weaknesses then 5. Sure large scale combat is spammy, but its emphasis is on team synchronisity rather then personal potential.
- I dont mind sacrificing personal “skill” for group effectiveness, if it means we are taking on 2 to 3 times our numbers. Or a skilled guild group.
- Bigger fights mean more action. Its more enjoyable then small scale. Its world vs world not team vs team.
I dont see how anyone can still care about ppt with:
off hours capping
treb monkeys
huge karma trains
occasional mesmer+thief zerg port or solo cap
Hacks, exploits, bugs
I rarely ever look at the top of the screen. Just take on big numbers with my guild group. Only way to stay sane up in this world gone mad.
Likes:
1. Taking on 2 to 3 times our numbers.
2. Waypoints. Wish towers had em.
3. Chokepoints, guild groups, and aoe.
Dislikes:
1. PvE and WvW shared balance.
2. Certain classes having little effectiveness in zerg fights.
3. Siege spam, sigil stacks, orb bonus, perma stealth, condi cheese moders.
(edited by Stand The Wall.6987)
I think with the lack of available skills compared to other mmos, this game is spammy.
That said, there are classes that you need to manage more then others, sure.
Yes, lets jump on the boat that says condi damage should be mitigated by toughness. HAH.
What a joke. Condi and zerk are natural rivals, and counter each other like they are designed to do.
Get over it, memorize skill anims, cycle cd’s wisely, and dont spam. You will win most of the time.
Dont worry fellow necros. We will still have the most qq-ps.
Crafting is the most expensive and fastest way to get to 80. You do not have to bring your crafting to 500 in any profession. I would definitely check out a crafting guide online, the good ones will tell you how much gold it will currently cost to get from 1-400 in any given profession. There are some ways to level without crafting though:
Fast dungeon runs
PvP now has (limited time) a glory merchant that sells level up scrolls
Karma training in Queensdale and WvW
Personal story has a good bit of xp
Good luck
Why should aoe be easier to see? Currently if youre paying enough attention you can just walk out of the aoe and take zero damage.
It isnt about whose math is best. Condi and zerk are at opposite sides of the spectrum, anet deemed crit damage values to be out of place, so they were corrected.
I’m no fan of condi bunkers, but I think they were right (for WvW). I know a lot of people have trouble with condi bunkers, but it isnt the damage. Its the condis that stack in duration such as cripple, poison, and burning. A dps melee is doing no damage while being kited with 20sec of cripple.
Why are mesmers the only ones ever complaining about being xyz bot…
Wars – Hard CC + banner bot
Guard – Healer bot
Necros – debuff bot
Elem – water + cc bot (and put those AoE’s on the walls!)
Mesmers : veils/portals/debuff bot
Thief – staggler killer and explosions bot (and rallybot)
Engies – water and bomb bot
Ranger – CC bot (and rallybot)All professions can do much more than what they are used for in WvW – when they are used…
So why complain that “mine doesn’t do enough”, when at least it is wanted in most settings?
I am not a bot! I am a real man!
(the prisoner references anyone)
Well I haven’t played condi necro in a while, so, bring it on.
Just don’t nerf vital persistence, near to death, or life blast damage and I will be happy.
Oh word, didnt see that part. No need to be a kitten.
Here here!
Yes. Remove immob stacking. It is not helping the growth of the game in any way.
From my long hours on necro, I believe there should be a condi duration cap on condis that behave this way such as cripple, poison, and burning in particular.
Even when I’m not on a condi spec, its kinda sad that I can build up to 20 seconds of cripple over a short span of time (without SoS).
What would you guys think about:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Symbol_of_Protection
- is now .5 sec cast time. Protection only stacks up to (6sec? on self, 9sec? on others) similar to what they did with
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Symbol_of_Swiftness
Would that work or is that too simple a fix?
Alright my previous statement was a little aggressive and uncalled for.
Yeah I twist numbers to suit myself, and while I went a little over the top, doesnt everyone with an opinion do this to an extent? I really love the trait, I don’t want to see it removed.
So what if I flash DS? My deaths have no impact on how you play, but nerfing or flat out removing near to death has an impact on mine.
If you want to completely remove a trait, remove fear of death and boot near to death to adept. Now you have a free master trait to do what you want with and everyone wins.
Give us a #2 that finishers ourselves so we don’t waste a lot of time
Everything is spot on. One of the best necro balance suggestion threads I’ve read.
Except for: Dark Armor. Sig of Vamp addition belongs with signet mastery more then anywhere else.
Passive healing in DS with Sig of Vamp would be high though, lets be honest here. We would get a lot of qq and be compared to heal sig op, blahblah. I think lowering the passive siphon to 350 would be a good thing. Sure we could get some burst heal with life transfer (which would have to be worked so siphon heals would only come from 1 person), but overall the cast and travel time of life blast wouldnt make Sig of Vamp to op.
Thanks for all your time and energy, and whatnot.
/salute
I know right?!?!
This update has really got me excited for logging into wvw every day. Its a game changer for sure!
You mean 5 “roamers” versus 1 “blobling”?
I never get annoyed if it really is a 1v1 when I’m running back to my guild group of ~25, but its usually 3-10 v me. Its really boring and pathetic. Now that I know you don’t like it, next time I’ll let you get back to taking my garrison unhindered. You should have said something earlier.
If CPC was changed only for pvp, sure.
