@Terra. Very well put. I haven’t raided yet in gw2 so I have no clue what I’m talking about. I would hope they will fine tune it so all classes can enjoy the new raid content. I’m going to start with my little venom thief and see if I can find my place stacking venoms on the condi group and doing flash stealth rezzes when needed. If I find myself with no place in a raid I’ll switch to my ele or necro if they at better off. What I will not do I roll a certain class that I don’t enjoy playing because anet has made them the only viable class to raid with.
Just hit 50 in Wildstar and all of their classes are viable in raids so I can always go there. I’d rather stick with gw2 though!

I see the same thing on the forums for each of my fav classes. Every sub forum for thief ele and necro all have threads of why they will be useless in raids. I think every class will be viable personally. Will some set ups clear faster? Sure.
I know that some classes can pump out higher condi dps then a thief but with the shared venoms traited I think we can really push the conditions over the top. Plus like I said the perma weekness from choking gas seems to be pretty awesome.
Anyway I am looking for a guild to raid with/pve and build a nice guild hall. Hit me up here via PM or in game.
I’m really enjoying the venom share build atm and the buff to poison. We can bring perma poison and weekness, venom share, stealth, dps, and good survivbility. I am not seeing any real need to spec daredevil though.
I believe Spoj had a nice solo/silverwaste build around here. It was a full on condition scepter/dagger build I believe. Hybrid isn’t great imo. Focus on conditions or power and things will die faster.
Thank you for the detailed response. I’m still figuring out what to main for HoT. Was going to go Druid but it looks like everyone else is as well. Maybe I’ll stick with my necro.
So the length of the spell is the only issue you had with the class? Like I said I haven’t played beta but going tempest means you can only use shouts? What are the other perks of switching to tempest? How is the warhorn? These are the things I was looking to get explained.
I haven’t played beta but I heard multiple times that the tempest is the worst of the new specs. As I’m trying to figure out which class I want to main in HoT I’m curious why is this? On a side note what kind of gear do you think would work well with tempest?
Ahh ok. Didn’t know we had to wait till the weekend. Thanks for responding.
So I have not played the beta but I plan on maining a Druid or Reaver. So I’m looking at getting the gear part out of the way now. My ranger is in full zerk but I assume that will not be optimal as a Druid. I was thinking celestial but not sure if another armor set would be better. Do you think a healing condi Druid would work with say staff and axe/torch?
Metabattle.com has all the builds you have asked for. Welcome back!
Cool thanks for the post. I wasn’t even looking for a condition build per say just seeing if there was anything new or fun besides the ole s/a and lb.
Yeah that basically what I’m looking for. I can go to metabattle if I want the meta build. Was more looking for a different or unusual build that someone is using that is having fun and good results with.
Hey all coming back to the game to main my ranger. Really looking forward to the Druid spec. Any new builds for pve since the update or is power still the best for dungeons and fractals? Thanks!
Hello, I’m back to the game after a break and looking for a new home. I have a few lvl 80s but mainly play ele or ranger. I enjoy pve and spvp. Haven’t done much wvw. I’m on the TC server and play around 10pm est. I do have ts3 vent mumble etc. Please send a pm if you think you have a guild for me. Thanks!
Hey all. I’m back to check out the new skill lines. Anyone have a good pve and pop build for S/F? That is my favorite weapon set up so please no use D/D or staff comments. Thanks for any responses.
Can we please get some cool Rifle skins in the gem store? I see all these other weapons that are bad kitten but never a rifle. Maybe like Scarlet’s Kiss? Purtty please!
Seems you answered your own question. I saw a video of a dude using it in spvp nicely but in no way do I think it compares to supply kit.
Looks or person choice? You could run a condition build in any game mode it just wouldn’t be optimal.
As Anchoku said you can play “support” in a sense. Transfusion is a great heal on a short CD when traited. Wells can be traited to give protection though you will sacrifice dps. You can deal with condition heavy fights like Mai Trin very well. You can pull off very dangerous rezzes with DS. I’ve saved a full whipe more times then I can remember in fractals. We definitely lack the support of some classes but spec’d the right way can do fairly well with saving your group of that’s what you’re into.
I was going to make a thread called I don’t care anymore but I’ll just post in yours
. I have every class to 80 except Warrior. I’m tired of playing classes I don’t enjoy so someone else can play the ones they do, or to shave 5 minutes off a dungeon. I’m going back to maining my necro and unless HoT changes the class not to my liking then I will continue there as well.
I love this class and I’m good at playing it. It’s been said before that a good player trumps an average or bad player on a “meta” class. I agree with that 100%. I’m playing to have fun at the end of the day and this class does it for me.
If any of you want to add me I run a lot of fractals and would love to start doing more paths so hit me up.
Run a non nade/bomb dungeon pve build what would be the best dps? I have full zerk gear and scholar runes but just don’t like nades
.
Will, i want to do condition and power at the same time. You think if i use condition food and utility it’ll be enough?
Nope. Just as a frame of reference I have 1500+ condition damage on my condi mes. You could go full sinister gear if you want to do a hybrid but you will be squishy and have to completely change your build.
So after you use signet of spite how are you going to fight another person while it’s on CD? Your condition power is so low that stacking a little bit of bleeds while SoS is down won’t matter much. If you want a hybrid build I’d look at rampagers gear and using dagger/horn and staff. Your build doesn’t have much synergy. But I’m glad it’s working for you and you’re having fun.
Not really sure why you have condition gear and runes then if youre going for a burst build. If you want scpeter/focus Id use the fresh air build and zerker amulet. You can find it if you google fresh air.
You have options. You can change your build, gear, utilities, learn the encounters better, and or just get better over all with practice. You’re a glass cannon so bring your blocks and survival skills to a boss fight if need be. You’ll do more then when you were dead.
Google staff PVP ele. You will find all you need.
Sitting at 1500 range doing massive attacks while your pet knocks people down and applies conditions is such a hard life isn’t?
I guess my need to be different is what draws me to mesmer. I don’t see many in my pug groups. And I always pug
I guess that’s enough of a reason to focus on him over my ele.
So I leveles my mesmer to 80 a while back and geared him up. I then moved to leveling my Ele and have been maining him since. I mainly just run fractals these days and there are soooo many eles. The other night my pug had 4 eles and one Guard. So my question is, is there any real need of bringing my mesmer over my ele besides just the fun factor? I know what our class can do with reflects and portal but portal is rarely needed. Just wondering as I’m trying to figure out which class im main once HoT comes out.
I like GS/LB personally.
Yes they are viable. If you get focused you’re screwed but I’ve seen some bad kitten necros in spvp.
Well while leveling up in the open world you really just run around and do mission ( heart quests, events, story quests ). If you’re looking for something to do to break that up you could try map completion, spvp, wvw, crafting, wardrobe, dungeons ….. There is plenty to do.
What huge damage nerf?
Less dmg then a Rangers pet? That seems a bit unlikely but I’ll take your word for it. I spec’d it up last night and ran a fractal. Dps seemed ok, easy might stacking and good support. It’s sooo much fun to play thought but I guess I’ll go back to staff
Is s/f fresh air build viable in pve? 0/6/0/4/4 build is decent in spvp but wondering if in full zerker if it would do enough dmg in dungeons.
If you’re doing dungeons your best dps will be spoj’s build. If you want you can do the 6/2/0/0/6 DS build. It isn’t the best dps but it’s good and it’s fun.
Yeah after playing an ele and engi I could never go back to a warrior. They’re an awesome and useful class but the game play is dreadfully boring.
Combat, art style, spvp, fractals.
What class do you think gives you the most rewarding game play? Is it your ele with a complex rotation and big dps crushing dungeon bosses? Is it your guardian carrying a group with massive support? Your thief wreaking havoc on the battlefield? Personally I enjoy my ele the most these days in pve and PVP. Curious to hear the community thoughts.
I am planning on using axe/focus or warhorn and scepter/focus or warhorn as my weapon swap hand, i just want some inside opinions on builds and what weapons go good with each other.
Yeah you need to figure out what role you want your necro to be. Those weapons don’t work well with each other. So if you’re going to be doing dungeon pve you will want a power build. Which could consist of the 6/6/0/0/2 or the DS one of 6/2/0/0/6. If you’re doing open world pve then it doesn’t matter. Wvw and spvp you can be very effect with a condition build but you will want scepter/dagger and staff only.
All of them have that balance ’
At lvl 26 you’re not going to be able to see how powerful any class can be when spec’d for full dps. I’d suggest going into spvp getting zerk trinket and scholars runes spewing 6/6/0/0/2 using a staff and see how hard you hit then. You will die and not be useful most likely but you will do a lot of dps.
Ele and thief when spec’d correctly but are also the squishiest and hardest to play. Most classes spec’d for full dps in zerk gear will do just fine though. Those two are just the hardest imo.
I finally got my Ele to level 80 last night. Now I have a lot of 80s most in zerk gear but my ele goes down before I can even react. I did a lvl 19 fract on him and I did ok but let’s say I got downed quite a few times. Grawl was the worst. So any advice for a noob ele? Or is it just a l2p issue. I’m running full zerk 6/6/0/0/2. And if anyone of you could point me to a good might stacking rotation that would be cool as well. Thanks!
Ps. Forgot to add I’m staff ele’

And on a side note I already have my outfit and fractal staff skin ready for my Asuran druid.
Mine will be an Asuran Druid. Everyone knows Asuras are the master race and can perfect any magic or martial skill.
In two years of playing I’ve had this happen once. The only dungeon paths that I’ve ever seen for sale is Arah. This doesn’t seem to be a problem at all so I wouldn’t worry about it as a new player.
Eh… I just checked a minute ago. Glad to show you that AC and CM are usually on sale too.
I never said no one ever sells other paths. I said as you put in bold that I’ve only seen Arah for sale. I do however think it’s sad people would pay to do AC or CM. At least Arah is a challenge.

Don’t let the leetists get you down on necro. My advice is try all the classes. See which one grabs you and go with it. If it happens to be necro enjoy. The only thing they’re not great at is speed running dungeons.
Welcome to gw2!
