Resurrecting this thread as I am finding these buffs increasingly annoying, Applied Fortitude in particular.
I wvw a few days a week but since I prefer roaming my Rank is only about 80. Not enough to max one of these, let alone both.
I am finding it makes a huge difference when dueling or 1v1 though. Is everyone seriously ok with this? The two of these combined are worse than any bloodlust buff or ascended weapon.

Ya? Them trap crits really bring out the damage don’t they. Trap builds = engineer 1 utility (bombs or nades) = necro 1 weapon set (staff). Only redeemable thing is that you get swiftness with your trap build. Also you should be using RaO in small skirmishes so that gives you swiftness and fury, so that is even more reason to get that traits moved. Could even trait into boon duration with that extra 30 points so you can have those boons last longer…
There is very little downside to moving the traits. You lose precision for getting your sharpened edges and sigil of earth procs but the precision from your rabid gear alone is enough to get like 90% efficiency (<- assumption) out of those things because of their ICDs.
As for power builds. Power builds are fine, they just lack a bit of condi removal, vigor, swiftness, and most importantly a way to lockdown targets which is remedied with good pet control (could be better remedied by full pet control). Well fine-ish, things could be ironed out like longbow trait consolidations.
Unless you meant move trap traits into the power line… which kind of makes sense but not as much as moving them into the WS line.
As an aside. I believe 10/30/30 to be our worst VIABLE build.
I suppose they could swap the trap and spirit traits. And then swap boon duration and condition duration.
But bleed on crit synergises well with condition/trap builds so you lose out there.

Anyone can be mobile with traveller runes, which is stupid IMO. Should only be light/mediums who are fast. Give lights swiftness and mediums 25% signets. Heavies nothing.

I see a number of buffs and no nerf other than hs, seems like a good patch to me. Of course the changes to ranger, or lack there of, only matter in the context of changes to other classes. If every other class got a nerf then its a good patch for us. You need to see how it pans out for other classes before you start crying.

The quicker Anet realizes and accepts that sPvP will never become an esport the quicker they can move resources to WvW — the player-preferred method of PvP in GW2.
While I don’t actually care to participate in GvG it’s blatantly obvious that it is already the start of a eSports scene – and is a pretty entertaining one too.

I think I would actually play sPvP if I could use my PvE/WvW character, and it had food buffs. And glory obtained in sPvP was reflected everywhere else.

I have just arrived at a similar build myself when trying build around the short bow, but mine is knights gear + rabid trinkets.

Grumpy used an old formula (well, old thread), but he also calculated it wrongly. He added 100 power to the base damage … let me redo the formulas …
The currently assumed formula for most skills is:
- baseDmg = wpnAtk * statPower * skillCoeff / statDef
Ofc, weaponatk, statpower and skillcoefficient are from the attacker and statDef from the target.Critting equals (50% + crtDmg) bonus damage (on crit) as Grumpy explained. The formula for avg damage stays:
- targetDmg = baseDmg * (((50% + crtDmg) / 100% * (crtCha / 100%)) + 1)
Where critdamage and crtchance are taken from the attacker and are values in percent.Now I have to compare the power addition to the crtDmg addition to check which is higher. Assuming you use the same skill with the same weapon at the same target the formula can be shorted to:
- dmgCoeff = (statPower + addPower) * (((50% + crtDmg + addCrtDmg) / 100% * (crtCha / 100%)) + 1)
So you need the “old Power”, “old crtDmg”, “crtChance” and the adders to compare the values.
The formula looks is similar to grumpy’s, but you don’t use the attack value, but wpnAtk * statPower .I assume the statcombos were runes, not prefixes.
That doesn’t make a difference does it? Power is still worth more?

Your expected damage is: Expected damage = Base damage * (((0.50 + Critical Damage / 100) * (Critical Chance / 100)) + 1)
We know you have 50% chance. So…
Expected damage = Base damage * (((0.50 + Critical Damage / 100) * 0.5) + 1)
Now your question is +100 base damage or +10% crit damage. That separates the question to two formulas and which is greater?
Base damage * (((0.50 + (Critical Damage 10) / 100) * .5) + 1)
(Base damage100) * (((0.50 + Critical Damage / 100) * .5) + 1)If your base damage was 2500, and had 0 crit damage increase previously.
2500 * (((0.50 + 10 / 100) * .5) + 1) = 3250 (crit)
(2500+100) * (((0.50 + 0 / 100) * .5) + 1) = 3250 (power)It’s same! So, this is your root at 0 original crit.

Its seems to me that no matter what number your crit damage is, replacing 10% crit damage with 100 power will always be more effective. Is that correct or am I doing something wrong?

Hmm I think the only ranger weapons I auto-attack with are sword and shortbow which makes sense.

I think it might need more bleed applications to be effective, as you’ve only got 3 and they will get cleansed quite quickly. I think it needs bleed on crit but of course you then need to trait into skirmishing and have 50% crit chance. Also you are sacrificing two utility slots for the regen, including one you have to cast every 10 seconds which seems like a big ask.

What weapons are you using?
Are you getting dazed as well, and using a stunbreak?
I think the problem most people make is they forget to attack against thieves when they stealth. Almost all of them are absolute glass. One maul and a few auto attacks and they will be down.
I generally roam with my GS in hand and only switch if about to attack a camp or someone else. So if a thief catches me unawares I already have GS in hand. So then its just a simple matter of block – hilt bash – maul → and generally they’re down.

You can spike that high by using multiple utilities with long cooldowns. If your high-damage arrow misses then you’re SOL on that damage spike for at least a minute, IIRC.

Except when running a full berserker ranger you can down enemies in WvW with the Longbow before they even have a chance to get close to you. With a proper build the LB autoattack can hit up to 13k on upleveled people and easily 10k on lvl 80s. That followed up with Rapid Fire usually guarantees a kill, if not then use Hunters Shot and swap to GS to either Maul them to bits or Swoop away to safety.

The problem with tiered matchups is that it created an effect I am going to call teir locking.
When servers would switch teirs, they would always push points UP while taking points away from lower rank servers. In effect the point differential between the top server and the bottom server kept increasing. Eventually it became nearly impossible to move up teirs at all. Even if your server had the population and coverage to beat servers in the next teir because your server could not beat the other servers in your teir enough to push their rating past the massive rating gulf between the teirs.
Essentially you had to wait till a server above you imploded, which would make the rating gulf even bigger.
I don’t see why a simple promotion/relegation system would not be the best.

@ OP its is not an actuall problem whether to WvW or not .Thing is with GvG arenas WvW will simply be a ghost town with no reason whatsoever to ever enter unless you need to pvdoor or karmatrain and Anet knows it.
At least know you still have some zergbusting guilds,but if ever GvG arenas shall be developed with no big improvements to WvW, no one will stand in their way and zergs would countinously avoid eachother non stop karmatrainftw.Wich suits perfectly Anet’s vision imo,basicly a easier farming mode than Pve.

They’re not. Use dogs or spiders. Look at this graph:
Some pets (birds and cats for example) lose a TON of attack DPS from chasing moving targets.
This is intentional and something ANET gave us to build around. Think about that. Also, spider DPS is not strongly function of moving targets and looks pretty good against them (bottom right).
They lose a tonne but they still do the most according to those charts.

Yes the lag is bad and bloodlust implemtation has problems, but the map update is a huge improvement especially for roamers. The ruins are a haven for small fights and suggest you give it a proper go before you ask for the water back…

It is a issue because it makes it a PvP only weapon. Ever tried using it against golem mk2? You jump straight through the kitten thing and stop attacking it.
