being better than the horrible RNG the game already has

What? Are we playing the same game? Everything in gw2 is so easy to get compared to other games. You can be horrible at the game and still have endgame stuff, because it’s just so casual. And no one will even ask you to have 10 legendaries and everything ascended to run something in this game. Plus there’s no inspecting either.

Try playing some other game with incredible RNG, like Tera for example, and then complain.

I think he’s talking about the actual boss drops, in which case he’s right. Salvaging everything for gold to get your gear would be kind of unfitting for Raids.

Sure, cool, guy leeches the whole raid then drops an ascended weapon and links it in map chat.

Way to go!

Seriously, WoW has ruined mmo. GW2 is right on track: tokens and merit. You do stuff = you earn things. No luck involved (not much at least).

Cool guy leeches SW, WorldBosse, or Events (all which are easier to afk) and then buys mats for an ascended after a week.

Way to go!

Oh wait…..

How about we allow people to get ascended in Raids, and those who don’t like Raids can continue to farm gold and craft for their gear? Raids are practically confirmed at this point, I’m sure no one want them dropping more salvage junk. Exclusive Skins would also be nice.

I’m just saying though.

Killing a big boss and something awesome dropping isn’t rocket science. Most games do this now, but with account bound gear so it doesn’t ruin the economy. I think HoT will follow this trend. Not everyone wants to salvage trash for weeks or months on end to finally craft a great item. Mix some gauranteed shinies into the fold.

The Necro legitimately has sub par DPS.
The Reaper legitimately was severely undertuned and no one knows if the stated changes will be enough.

How can a class stay that bad for 3 years without anyone noticing to the point where they were equally as bad in the beta for the new game.

NO RAIDS NO FTP! I put too much time and money in this game and the prepurchase on the expansion to pay for someone else to play for free….not a fair shake and this is not WoW

Why no raids?

Some people enjoy them. You have crafting, wvw, pvp, poorly made dungeons, open world, and mindless zerg bosses. Why do you care if people get another activity?

There’s nothing wrong with raids. We already have considerably less challenging versions of them (open world zergs).

Hopfully these real raids offer great drops/rewards, rather than just salvage → gold → craft

Yeah the drops in this game really suck. You’re expected to salvage everything and slowly make gold. This isn’t as satisfying as the amazing item dropping by itself, which is practically never going to happen for most people. Most MMO’s do not use the GW2 “slow burn” style anymore. People want actual shiny stuff to drop off the hard monsters now and then, not once every 3 years.

Hopefully the new “Challenging Group Content” has a decent chance at ascended armor/weapons dropping, or tokens which can be converted to those items.

Everytime I visit this forum people complain about something some other profession got being way better than Necromancer.

Why does it matter if Necros are in the meta or not? I survive better on my necro than most of my other professions. I don’t think necros are useless, or maybe I just don’t care about that stuff :|

I see “No Necro/Ranger” in every single explorable or fotm level (Except 1-9) at least once a day in LFG. More if it’s very high fractals. But It’s sad, because apart from 50+ Fractals it barely matters unless you are doing world first youtube runs which I assure you people will not be using LFG for. This is one of the most casual/easy MMO’s in the market, making such a thing even more perplexing.

That being said, people do say that for a reason. Necro’s best DPS spec does half the damage (literally) than other top classes. But PVE is so kitten easy it DOESN’T MATTER unless you are doing YOUTUBE world firsts……which is why I question the sanity of those LFGs people. Only exception is for people who are just starting out 40/50 Fractals and want smoother runs.

Please make more 5 man dungeons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Substatic.6958

Substatic.6958

They aren’t bringing back dungeons. Those are toast. 5 man content is fractals. That’s what Anet is going to continue to support. And of course whatever the challenging group content is, but I highly doubt that’s going to be 5 man dungeons. More likely to be a raid of some type if anything.

I think the problem with Fractals, is that there is limited attraction to them, due to the whole AR thing.

As people who don’t craft (or don’t craft, yet) know they can only do low level ones, because they will hit an AR wall.

When you know there is something beyond a wall, that you can’t access without doing something you don’t wish to do (or do, yet), it tends to put you off the entire thing.

Whereas, dungeeons feel like they should be something anyone can do.

Even if, in reality, that is not necessarily the case (due to the whole meta/elitism/lack of queue system thing).

Gosh, I hope it’s not raids. I am not aware of any game where raiding hasn’t caused endless drama in its community. To be honest, the “challenging group content” announcement is scaring the hell out of me that GW2 might become just yet another endgame focused MMO after all. Dungeons – I am not opposed to getting more of then, but I can’t say I overly like the existing ones. Maybe if they are different enough from the old ones. Less gimmick fights, more fun.

Big, open-to-all, LFR-style raids don’t need to be elitist, though.

I’m envisaging a more challenging, PVE-only version of EOTM, here.

There are no lack of que its just not automated, you have to get off your butt and create/join the groups yourself. Reason why you see so many meta/elitism there is becouse they are very specific in what they want and take time to fill do a all welcome group and watch it get filled quickly. ( could however be hard getting people for story instances since most people only play those once to unlock spvp track and ability to open explore mode)

Yes, I’m aware that you currently have to “get off your butt”.

More than aware, in fact, as it’s all I ever hear on here.

However, I am suggesting that that is one of the reasons fewer people bother with instances, in this game, than in, say, WoW.

People can talk as though this game is a job and that everyone should suck up its inadequacies and whatever else is thrown at them, adapt to it and work hard, as much as they like.

The reality is that most people couldn’t give a flying fig about working in games.

Because, we understand that games are just games and not jobs.

If I have to try to negotiate people’s listings, that often turn out to be highly misleading, or make my own groups and then still have the wrong kinds of people joining and just general bad/intolerate behaviour, I’m simply not going to bother.

Judge me all you want, it makes no difference to me (or the millions like me).

I think the problem with Fractals, is that there is limited attraction to them, due to the whole AR thing.

As people who don’t craft (or don’t craft, yet) know they can only do low level ones, because they will hit an AR wall.

Whereas, dungeeons feel like they should be something anyone can do.

Even if, in reality, that is not necessarily the case (due to the whole meta/elitism/lack of queue system thing).

Actually the AR thing is quite easy to get around without crafting. If you’re doing the low level fractals you’ll get enough pristine relics to buy a ring and a simple versatile infusion so you can do that until you get 10 AR (two rings) which will let you progress up until level 19. If you do guild missions getting trinkets is dead easy and amulets are cheap in WvW so buying those will get you up to level 29.

Doing level 21 – 29 fractals will drop infused rings which allow you to put higher level infusions in (+8’s for example) so putting two high level infusions in should allow you to get the 40 AR needed to go up to 39. At this point you should have enough fractal relics to purchase a fractal capacitor, upgrade it to ascended and infuse it and add AR to it. Around this level you should also be getting ascended drops that you can change to your required stats in the mystic forge, equip and add some AR to. Continuing along this you’ll get the 55AR needed for up to level 49 and then the 70 needed for level 50.

Um, yeah, that daunting list is even more offputting to someone like me than having to craft would be…

I’m sure I could do all that, if my life depended on it, but fortunately it doesn’t.

Just accessing a few (probably mediocre, let’s face it) instances simply isn’t worth it, to me.

I appreciate you taking the time to post all the info, though.

Just for the record, BTW, I have done some lower level ones, but I didn’t find them fun enough to bother continuing, with all the AR gating.

Without the AR gating, I probably would have done a few more.

I agree. After not playing for a long time I finally came back and it seems the new and “end-game” PVE content is really annoying and cumbersome (not to be confused with difficult) to get into. I can see why people pay 10-20g to just get runs done. What a pain.

The expansion seems to somewhat alleviate this by refining Fractals, but I would love regular old 5man dungeons with no out-dated resist mechanic (among other problems) which has been scrapped in most other rpgs.

No thanks. I’d much rather have more large scale open world content.

There seems to be adding a lot of that. I’d rather they have the expansion/updates more fleshed out rather than the game just churning out afkzergFspam content.

OP doesn’t play other classes ? what a waste of character slots….

certain classes excel in one game mode , but not in another. dungeon is one mode that ranger do not excel in, but they kick kitten in pvp.

so, play other classes as well, they are all fun.

Is this confirmed by Arena Net? Link? Or are you just making excuses for the beyond terrible PVE balance? What other classes perform so badly in other content that they are at times told not to join?

Hopefully HoT Reaper and GS fixes this.
