I really wish they would have changed the reward structure so that
1st 100 tickets
2nd 150 tickets
3rd 200 tickets
so as to discourage server stacking.
Maybe your guild should transfer to SF to even out the population.
Necro community tournament concerns
Just thought you’d like to know.
Tournament-of-Glory-Sign-ups-Delayed-until-Friday
Send your concerns to this thread, you might get a response.
If you can’t balance EotM and you can’t balance WvW, having another season is just more of the same…
Coverage/Population>>>>>>Skill
Unless you organize a 2v1, this hasn’t changed since release.
They didn’t take 6 months to fix Dhuumfire.
All this means is that for undefended keeps/towers, you’ll use rams and PvD like usual.
For lightly defended keeps/towers, you’ll just take a few minutes longer max with rams. If they have a map hopping blob you might lose to reinforcements.
You’ll have to change your tactics to choose between rams, catas, or golems.
I think it’s clear the community has spoken. I can’t remember the last time this many players came together to discuss a feature that was not well received.
How quickly you forgot about bloodlust.
Maybe the 300g is a reflection of the development time it took to implement.
I wouldn’t mind 300g for color tags if maybe spikes can be sold at the vendor for 10g each.
Isn’t this what EotM was supposed to be for? The testing of new feature for the rest of WvwW? Why aren’t these new WvW features being trialled in EotM?
Well, it’s not like there’s a lot of Golems running around in EotM is there?
Or defense either.
With enough player feedback on these features Anet still has a chance to make corrections. Needing gold to unlock a tag color is a joke.
Although, I might be interested in paying gold to change my “red” name to green….Oh what fun I could have.
If it works like the current traps, I imagine it’ll be more beneficial to defenders than to attackers. Even with 1200 range you’d have to trigger it somehow, I doubt it’s just something they can click on and activate on demand.
Just put the trap inside a gate being attacked. There’s always a mesmer clone glitching through the gate that could trigger it.
The new gate procedure is have a mesmer tag gate so clones trigger the trap a minute before the zerg arrives to drop rams.
It still doesn’t change the fact that more numbers gets more supply gets more points, it just slows it down a bit.
You might want to do some tests to see if the boon removal order is similar to what Necro skills are. You can do another set of tests to see which conditions are removed as well.
It’s sad that the two boons you want to remove, might and stability, are low on the priority list for Necros
If 2 target cleave for daggers is what is expected for Necro, is 3 target “cleave/splash” for axe asking too much? What could be done for sceptor?
Should all edged weapons cleave?
Should all projectile weapons either bounce or pierce?
Should sceptors be lumped in with hammer and mace as it’s own weapon type?
LF generation might scale with opponents but our attrition doesn’t. And if Deathshroud is a Necro’s core feature, it should do more to make us the attrition class we’re supposed to be.
If you want deathshroud to scale with the number of enemies then it should be an AoE life steal that scales with the amount of life force you have.
I don’t think Anet wants life stealing tanky attrition Necros though….
I’ve adjusted the position at low resolutions to always be below the targeting UI.
Hey Evan, I am sorry, but it is not fixed. This is a clear visualization of how serious this issue is. (this is a hot join game I joined to test,.)
Sorry, I meant I’ve fixed it for a future build. Things like this cannot be fixed without a build, and this isn’t hotfix material. You’ll have to wait a while.
It’s nice to see a response to a player’s concern. Something like this thread is NEVER seen in WvW.
Just the fact that you…
1. Recognized an issue.
2. Inquired about and found root cause
3. Replied that the issue was resolved but that it would be rolled out in a later fix.Even though I don’t play sPvP, I’ll go out of my way to say thanks for resolving this but more importantly, communicating back to the players about the issue. This is the type of community building that has been lacking in these (GW2) forums.
I consider this a special case because it was a trivial fix. Perhaps you should come try sPvP…
I main a Necro, we get little love in sPvP and PvE dungeons.
That’s OK for me, because I like doing the parts of GW2 where Necros are wanted and accepted.
It might have been a trivial fix for you but your response on the forums shook the pillars of heaven.

WvW forum process is instead.
1. Recognize an issue.
2. Say it will be fixed “soon” or say “we can’t discuss things in development”
3. Silence…….. sometimes for as long as a year
4. When players Necro original thread, post a sticky threatening players about not Necroing threads

Along with race specific finishers, you can have faction finishers, WvW/EotM color finishers, profession finishers…..
It’s come to this:
The most popular threads on the first page of the WvW Discussion forum have devolved into talking about talking instead of talking about issues.
Offensive play rewards you with decent loot drops, champ bags, dragonite, and a lot of WxP.
You lost me right here.
Decent WvW loot drops = spikes, a blue or a green. You get a yellow once a week and an exotic once a couple months. Ascended drops are like hitting the lottery, until you realize that the stats aren’t ones you want to use.
Champ bags…see above
Dragonite, ah yes, that mat that takes up inventory space that makes me have to venture to a temple just to get rid of it.
WxP is like skill points, karma and badges to someone who plays WvW, after a while you stop using it and just accumulate it.
But back to your topic. Offense is easy to track. Do “X” damage or be inside a circle.
Defense is always extra checks that needs to be done. Do “X” damage to someone that’s done “Y” damage to NPC, structure or player within structure defense zone. Should the defense reward scale with the attacking force? Attack rewards don’t. I’m not sure that the servers could handle the extra calculations needed for defense.
I want to try something new for once, and play EOTM just for the fun of it. No karma train or anything like that.
I want to build sieges and stuff like that.
Whats your suggestions on how to play EoTM in a non-karma train sort of way?
1. Play a fearomancer. BL has 4 fear spots. OG has 6, FR has 9. You can even fear inside and outside the gates of spire and perch. Needle has 2 outside.
2. Get on the supercannon and stop zergs on the bridge to spire and perch. You can also hit FR gate at bell and even two wall sections at BL and a wall section of OG
3. Get in one of the towers. Build up all the siege. Slow down the zergs by destroying their rams. Solo cap the closest reactor to keep supply up.
4. Play Thief, follow the enemy zerg and pick off the slowest.
5. Zergs tend to use the same path. Drop siege in a protected spot and see how they react, or not. Most zergs forget to clear oil or cannon before dropping siege. They’re in such a hurry for karma.
Of course, necroing threads with the purpose of actually adding something to the thread is one thing, but many of the necros here have simply been to bump the thread up, without adding anything.
And it is simply easier to forbid it altogether than having to deal with the people feeling the mods taking wrong action when locking some of the threads.
Actually they DID add something to the thread, even though it wasn’t communicated in the best way.
What the thread Necros did was basically tell Anet
“Remember that issue the community had that you agreed was something that should be fixed, but hasn’t been fixed for [insert time since last red post in thread time]? The issue still exists and with the lack of communication from devs to players we’re having doubts that you are working to fix this issue. What kind of reassurance can you give the players other than “soon” or “we can’t discuss what’s in development” that these issues will be fixed? We hope you can understand our (the players) concern that as the length of time of an issue increases, the lower the expectations are of a fix and also the lower the confidence that any other issue can be fixed."
@Mark Katzbach you appear to have clicked on the WvW discussion page by accident or is your pc “working as intended”?. Maybe you can get the WvW dev team to aslo click on this page by mistake aswell! But all jokes aside dead threads are dead threads if you wanna necro, just go roll the class :p
Necroing dead threads does two things, three if there’s a red post in them.
1. It brings up an issue that isn’t resolved to the players satisfaction
2. It shows that the issue hasn’t been resolved in a long time
3. If there’s a red post that recognizes the issue is being looked at then it begs the question why the issue hasn’t been resolvedI wonder if anyone at Anet is:
1) not allowed to talk about WvW development by upper management directive.
2) not working on WvW development so can’t talk about it.
3) all of the aboveI hope there’s some middle ground where players can be more involved in the development of WvW and that the players will feel that WvW is core to GW2
Well I don’t want to sound negative, but personally until they give us a tiny tiny tiny glimpse of what they’ve been working on for in the last 12 months I won’t be able to “believe”.
Being totally secretive it the worse thing you can do after promising regular updates every 2 weeks. A full year and not a single screenshot was shown!
WvW forum really needs somebody that posts as much as Gaile Gray does in the support forums.

Is deletion of the WvW forum next, like what happened to the WvW Matchup forum?
Would it make any difference?
Would the players notice any difference?
It is so cute when people seems to imply that they never listen to feedback.
nothing changed in the current wvw maps design …..
The players asked for new maps, they didn’t specify that they wanted the existing maps replaced. You should always be specific when making a wish to a genie.
overpowered arrow-carts ( fixed when some wvw guilds left )
The players asked for better ways to defend. The ac buff made rams obsolete except against undefended towers/keeps. Everyone dropped catas and trebs to knock down a wall, then build their own counter ac, then took the tower/keep. Everyone that played adapted and changed thier tactics.
overpowered bloodlust buff ( fixed but after the usual delay )
Ahh yes, the response to roamers that wanted more to do AND get some rewards for roaming. This was vehemently opposed by the players because everyone could see how it already tipped the score in favor of the more populated servers.
overpowered condition builds
Builds aren’t and have never been balanced with WvW in mind.
immobilized bugs never fixed and added new immobilized bugs
There’s a list of bugs in WvW that haven’t been fixed. Apparently Necroing a thread that points this out is a violation of the rules.
they screwed every skill / combo for cleans of conditions just to attract more players to wvw from spvp . they failed so far , because wvw population is dropping not increasing.
If anything, Anet wants to promote sPvP/tPvP esports instead of WvW.
they changed the runes /sigils and now some classes can stack up of 25 stacks ( 33% more power + 33% more condition damage ) of might alone …..
Again, skill/balance changes are made with 5 man teams in mind.
nothing changed at wvw rewards , at least similar to eotm rewards .so, many wvw players now choose eotm and not wvw to play .
One of the many necroed threads. It is curious that Anet could bring about LS1 achievements, LS2 achievements, EotM achievements, CHANGE PvP achievements/rewards, WvW tournament 1 acheivements, WvW tournament 2 achievements all after acknowledging that the WvW achievements were in need of change, but don’t tell Anet about this, you might get banned.
I ran into a cross server GvG in EotM yesterday, not that there’s a really quiet place for GvG in EotM.
If they took out the sentries and columns under the center of the map you could have a nice area mostly undisturbed.
Instead of limiting GvG to current tier/matchup, you should try to find a way to make it more inclusive from any tier.
If PvE guilds can take over a Tequatl overflow, you should be able to do the same in EotM.
So from now on no more “Dear dev’s” topics.. but “Dear management” topics.
Unfortunately i’m not going to post anything of that kind for another month or so..
More like “Dear Moderator”. They are the only ones consistantly posting (read as deleting) forum threads.
I’ve been on both sides of this.
If you’re in a guild you run with a tag because…
You want to have more players to help with attack/defense or even coordinate with another guild (tagged or tagless) on map tactics.
You want to advertise your guild to others, hoping to get recruits
If you’re in a guild you run tagless because….
You want to see how your guild stacks up with the enemy, regardless of the size of either side.
You want to avoid having a “rallybot(s)” helping the other side more than they help your side.
On the other hand, I remember when I was looking to join a WvW guild, I tried to run with guilds both tagged and untagged. Tagged guilds were more inclusive. You end up finding out which tags/guilds/commanders were better.
Untagged guilds felt like they didn’t want you, or anyone around. If an untagged guild was using their own VOIP you were better off leaving them and going to another map. If, however, you were from a known and respected WvW guild, you could use the influence your guild had to join with an untagged guild.
Noone mains a necro anymore.
I’ve got all classes to 80, but my Necro has the best gear. My main has always been Necro, since beta. In beta I tried Mesmer (main from GW1), Guardian, Ele and Thief. Necro playstyle just felt right to me.
Probably the reason why I still main a Necro is that I don’t really spend much time in the areas that Necros are weaker.
I don’t do sPvP, tPvP.
I don’t do dungeons
I do solo PvE
I used to do WvW, before my guild disbanded. After I get enough to transfer I’ll be back into it again.
I do EotM…..Fearomancer is too much fun, especially on FR.
@manver, lets be honest though, Peters has on multiple ocassions shown he has no idea what he’s talking about when it comes to Necro.
Bhawb, Is there anyone YOU know of at Anet that DOES know about Necros?
The problem with Necros boon stripping in WvW is that Corrupt Boon is single target and the well only hits 5 max per second for 5 seconds and we all know everyone stands in the red circles. Also as has been shown in a previous thread, the priority of the boons that get converted aren’t the ones you really want to get at.
I’ve found that CB is great if the target is already under pressure, hit them at the right time and they’ll be down. Hit them at the wrong time and it’s cleanse and continue.
If you really want to boon strip in WvW you’ll need at least 3 players.
One to stun (war or ele)
Mesmer to hit with null field
Necro with a well for what’s left.
You have several options to transfer to another WvW server that has the population you’re looking for.
Since you don’t want to grind for transfer money, your options are limited to…..
1. Use real money to buy gems to transfer.
2. Ask a guild on a server you wish to transfer to to help pay your transfer costs
3. Delete all your characters, transfer for free because you have no characters. Start all over.
Other options:
1. Play EotM
2. Play PvE or PvP
3. Play another game
After the end of free transfers, map completion was more difficult. Smarter players used to transfer to servers that were at 500+ PPT.
Map completion in WvW takes less time now, but like other legendary pre-reqs, it’s still a grind.
Quenta of the Black Talons [BT] was the only Necro commander I’ve ever seen. One of the better commanders period. I think [BT] disbanded. They started on FA, moved to BG and I think ended up on Mag.
BT used to post weekly WvW videos. You might still be able to find some of them.
At least in GW1 there was visual evidence that someone was watching.
Couple of things to consider.
First of all do your homework. By that I mean send somebody to scout the server you are thinking about moving too. They can see firsthand what the WvW population is when your guild typically plays. Make sure the server meets your guilds needs before you make the move.
The other issue you might run into is that since you are moving up several tiers, there is a good chance that the server you will move to already has established guilds and there are very few recruits to choose from. Your guild could become poached by the existing guilds.
We’re sorry to inform you that the WvW design team has been temporarily reassigned to the Living Story 2 design team.
Signed
The Management
I’m looking forward to the announcement of Season 3 tournament scoring change, where the server with the lowest point total gets 5 pts, second lowest 3 pts and highest total only 1 point.
What about TRICKS, doesn’t the NPC you buy these from have the title “Traps and Tricks”?
well anyway, some more to think about:
Fog/Snowstorm trick cause the visibility to decrease similar to the snowstorm that’s in FR in EotM
Illusionary Wall/Gate trick when placed on a destroyed wall/gate, it visually looks like a fully repaired wall/gate but takes no damage and can’t stop players moving through it.
Illusionary Dolyak trick Sends out a yak marker in the map that follows the yak path. No need to add any additional characters
We’re on page 3 of this discussion, any thoughts from the Dev Team???
You have to realize that the WvW Dev Team is “outmanned”, there’s only so much so few can do.
More likely they are waiting until the reward chest bug is 100% fixed.
I have a lvl 80 of each class
I main a necro. 100% map completion
Next was a Guardian. Helped a friend get their ranger to 80. 60-70% map completion
Ele jumped into WvW back when swirling winds could stop treb shots. Very little map done
Mesmer mainly levelled in WvW
Thief and Warrior was half WvW, half EoTM
Engineer and ranger were almost exclusively EoTM
If I was to create another toon on a new class I’d go to EoTM, get to 80, then switch to WvW.
As a new player to GW2, you’ll get the occasional PvP battle in EoTM, but it’s mostly PvD/PvE. Once you get to 80 you should have enough badges and gold to outfit your character in exotics.
Disease trap: 1 stack of poison. Duration 10s. Every 5s it spreads/stacks to 5 others in 300 radius.
Quaggan trap: Create a 1200 radius pool that removes all stacks.
oooOOOooo Quaggan relax.
Diversion trap: Puts orange sword icon on the map for 30 seconds.
Mark of Death trap: Puts Anet icon in player name, extra exp for killing the player.
I don’t think that the WvW dev team isn’t listening, I just think that they are “outmanned” by the stacked PvE team and the PvP team.
Just a question about map testing……
For EoTM, you had a list of players that wanted to test and they were allowed to enter the test server with the map.
Could you do something similar but with rewards chests so that players in a tier match, get the same matchup the next week but get a reward invitation for playing the past week to test a map?
And do it for every tier, not just T1, especially not just T1.
I’m not sure about the details, but the idea of removing Outnumbered and putting in “Outpointed” sounds decent to me.
Or how about—‘WARNING—-You are about to be crushed——Proceed with Caution’, and when your dead another pop up—-‘Told you so’.
The “Told you so.” would imply thinking during programming, and a huge sense of humor.
I remember one system at work where a co-worker asked me for help and when I looked at their screen the message “Do you know what you are doing?”
I laughed and had to quickly explain (after getting a laser death stare) that I wasn’t laughing at them, I was laughing at the fact someone took the time to write that code.
Life lesson for you all out there. When someone comes to you for help, it’s best not to laugh at them.
I’d like to see an automatic alliance kick in when one server is dominating the other two.
