I like hotjoin. I can jump in and out at will and don’t have to play sleazy builds.
Hot join (mainly the browser) could use some love tough.
I’m talking about 5v5s of course. Making a button or default filter to find those games more intuitive to new players.
Because Staff Ele + Bunker guardian = mid point defender.
You start with leavers and folks that dont care, happened to me. Higher rating you get it does not happen anymore

The rank isn’t what the matchmaking is based off, its based off a hidden rating
So, this 17th patch … not gonna have balance changes … fair enough.
However, are there bug fixes planned, there are several bugs with skills still around since release and others still lingering from other patches released along the way.
Some examples from elementalist (other classes also have problems):
*Delayed skills (such as dragons tooth) can be interrupted or blinded AFTER the skill has been successfully cast.
*Lingering elements …. need I say more
*Air signet not working correctly with written in stone.
The list goes on.
Since there is no balance patch, can we expect a bug fix patch (something further then tooltip fixes) and get rid of these bugs?

Yes. The chill is applied with the burn .. then say Mr thief disappears into stealth for a while without the stealth removes conditions …. dead.
For scepter I’d go either 30/0/0/10/30 or 10/30/0/10/30.
That second build is 80 points of 70 maximum, you sir have bent the realm of possibilities, tell me how to do this.

To have spirits up almost all the time, even after someone kills them was over the top.
Elementalist do not have spirits.
And you are wrong. If a enemy kills spirits after they are up, they will be defenseless for 50 seconds. Pity that an elementalist did not know this weakness.
No Elementalists have elementals (with super fun AI built in, just like your pests), are generally not targeted like thieves pests or rangers pests because they don’t do as much (Wish my elementals gave me buffs, or even had activate able abilities.) And when they die … they then start their cooldown.
Yes I did know the rangers weakness is to take out its spirits and the time without said spirit, but good luck finding one who just summoned them. Now you can enjoy a 25 second cool down instead, and some counter play perhaps. I used to play spirits when it was not the “in” thing, then I played traps, again before they were super popular, still my current ranger build

This patch was good for 2 reasons:
1. It toned down 2 powerful builds.
2. It didn’t power up anyone else to tip the scales in the opposite direction.

Its funny when im on my necro going heads up with an ele. and all i have to do is sit in one spot and auto attack with my scepter to send them running away.
yea.. eles need a major buff.. seriously lol…ive literally fear chained an ele to death and she couldnt do jack about.. and thought i was hacking..lol. atm ele is at the bottom of the food chain. All ele builds atm.. are full glass cannons.. there is like no more build diversity with the constant nerfs they had. You haven’t tried all builds then. I have not met a necro that beat me in a 1 on 1 fight in pvp. Though, most people I come across have copy paste builds. My favourite type of foe. Copy Paste D/Ds … defeated. Copy Paste condition necros defeated. Spirit Rangers … I suck against spirit rangers though haven’t fought any since patch.

-All spirits can now be launched, knocked down, and knocked back.
This was a bug fix which now will allow more counter-play when fighting spirits.
-Storm Spirit, Frost Spirit, Sun Spirit, Stone Spirit, and Spirit of Nature will now begin their recharge when the spirit dies instead of when the spirit is summoned.
-Storm Spirit, Frost Spirit, Sun Spirit, and Stone Spirit: Recharge has been reduced from 60 seconds to 25 seconds.
-Spirit of Nature: Recharge has been reduced from 240 seconds to 180 seconds.
Previously you were able to pre-cast spirits before a fight so that when they would die you could instantly re-summon them. This made it feel like there was little to no counter play. Players could take the time to AOE them down simply to have to deal with another set of spirits. These changes were made so that there is a time window where the ranger will be without spirits once they die. Since the spirits now die after their duration, we had to reduce the recharge to compensate. In fights where they are dying often, the shorter recharge is a buff.
Solar Flare: Fixed a bug so this skill no longer applies a duplicate infinite duration blind.
This was a simple bug fix removing unintended functionality.
Just like Mesmer clones? They can keep up 3 clones constantly. You fight the entire time trying to single target the Mesmer down because it’s impossible to kill all the clones in time before they refresh some new ones. Not to mention they go in and out of stealth so you lose your target (tab target blows), so you have to try and click with your mouse. I’ll 1v1 people on my Mesmer literally only using the #1 and #2 on the staff and win 100% of the time.
Thief? Goes in and out of stealth and can leave a fight whenever he or she pleases. Trying to 1v1 a thief in spvp or wvw is useless because they literally CANNOT lose if they just run away.
Wtf does Ranger have? A kittened pet that will chase a person forever getting 1 or 2 hits in if you are lucky. Signets have stupid cooldowns and terrible passive effects. Spirits are dog kitten now. Traps are boring and horrible.
Its not that Signets have Stupid Cooldowns or Terrible Passive Effects, its that Signets only work on the Ranger if he invests 30 freakin points in the power line, they’re the only class in the game that has to invest that many points to be EQUAL to every other class in the game.

TG I seem to notice you posting about this in several threads. I also know you dislike your 200-300 ms ping. We are not talking about this. We are talking about compltely random 1-2 SECOND stops in game play which change order of skills/ make combo’s impossible. It isn’t on our side. It’s a-nets.

As to your 1 second interrupts, they were happening here before the patches, though seem a little more frequent now (a little, like I notice it now, not just ignore it like I used to).
Try what I said in the other post. Go somewhere in PvE (not PvP) wait for the world to load, then head back to pvp.
Why do I bring this up? 2 reasons, 1, other people reported that this helped them and 2, I play only PvP at the moment and my friend plays mainly PvE. When he plays PvP with me he doesn’t notice the unresponsiveness at all (other then the usual lag, 200 ms on his end) whereas I do notice it. In before you say he probably doesn’t notice it because of whatever reason, he complains about 5 frame rate drop, without looking at a FPS meter I think he would notice a 1 second delay.

A dev on the “learn how to use ele” live stream a few weeks ago, whilst telling everyone what the spells do (well durr….) also said that staff is great for kiting & that you could kite 15 with ease.
We all know there`s no way in hell you could kite fifteen of anything, but they remain clueless.
I would like to see a live stream of them playing the ele in pvp with their L2P tactics in play.
With the right build the staff can still be powerful (out classed by other professions but strong nonetheless)
Brought an entire zerg in sPvP to an end, pretty much instantly, with a lightning flash arcane wave + churning earth in the clocktower at Khylo.
Wouldnt: Arcane Power > Churning Earth > Lightening Flash been better?
What did Arcane Blast offer in that situation?

I run S/F build, more based around dealing with power builds then condition builds. I enjoy it. It is a very high skill build, 1 single mess up can cause your doom. Fighting conditions will cause your doom, unless played well, then you can take on necros like they were nothing. 20 15 10 15 10
I ran into a high damage Mesmer yesterday. He almost 1 shot me. The he went and fought my friend, eventually calling him unnatural because he couldn’t 1 shot him. Funniest thing is my friend runs staff ele for sPvP. When he had finally dropped my friend (3 minutes later) my friend auto ressed back up.
2 months? Balance patches every 2 weeks now that PAX is over … Bug fixes still on the back burner.
My top priorities I’d like to see fixed:
- Projectiles and Beams able to fight off stealth foes. Currently beams don’t work without a target and projectiles fire into the ground with no target.
- Asura
- Solo Q issues
- Animations
- Matchmaking
- Hotjoins adding a “Play 5v5” and “Play 8v8” buttons.
- Incentives to play hotjoin and not hotjoin hero (even present in solo q).
- Lag, even though this doesn’t affect me (I always have 300 ms, wtb GW2 server for Oceanic, the amount of players this game would draw … currently there are very few MMOs with oceanic based servers)
Actually they fire into the ground because you’re looking at the ground. Shots fire straight forward in line with your camera angle. You’ll notice this if you try firing straight up into the air.
I know, but it should always be forward regardless of camera angle. Rotating the camera to a stupid position to combat a thief is just ridiculous.
If not always forward (there are times you may want to fire up) then have a toggle / button to reset auto attack to be horizontal.
Ever played a S/F Elementalist?

AOE, 1 AOE skill that is reusable others are hard to hit or very long cooldowns… shatter stone is that 1 skill and it hits a second after it is cast.
Conditions, sort of doable… but this is the ele, condition spec is not very good at all.
CC. The kd is powerful vs a thief, if you have someone else nearby to beat him up for you.
Push pull knockback, not present on the weapon set.
Everyone needs an equal chance at fighting stealth. Increasing the height on projectile attacks (with no targets) and making beam type attacks usable with no targets would got along way.
I also signed up for this game with the promise from the devs that stealth would be short duration and not very accessible. Meanwhile at the 20+ second stealth and usable every 3 (wvw) to 4 (pvp) seconds is not short and low access.
Elementalists received a 40 second cd to RTL because people in WvW were using it to escape and reset fights. Where is the thieves 40 second cd on heart seeker when missing a foe?
Back to heart seeker, losing half your health then getting finished by 22222 is not fun. It sticks to you and does increased damage the more they use it. Forcing you to use an invulnerability or interrupt to get a heal out so they can go back to 22222 a second later.
Finally. Unskilful use of the thief’s abilities pushes my hatred for them over the edge. If you go invisible and then I use my invulnerability to counter, you should have to wait for it to run out before trying to backstab me. Instead you can happily spam 1111111 until my invulnerability runs out and remain in stealth. The same is for blinding the thief, aegis, interrupt etc etc. While blinding a theif would be a stupid counter, perhaps the thief could have another stealth tool (like F2) that will do a low damage skill to remove aegis and blind before using his big hit. Or using skill 1 whilst blinded or foes is blocking will use a the above mentioned low damage skill to clear the blind or aegis.
Unskilful gameplay is ruining this game, some of us enjoy the high skill curve of the higher skill level professions, but being gim/ped by an unskilful player is just wrong.
At least they announced this tournament. Unlike the one before, ESL was it? Don’t remember because it wasn’t announced.

You mean like Hotjoin 5v5 is but you keep your team at the end (I’m sure that’s how GW1 RA worked) or would it join you with another random team (so you don’t just pub stomp all day long).
Also, don’t remove hotjoin. Do add a button “5v5 Hotjoin” and “8v8 Hotjoin”. Finding 5v5s is currently unintuitive and many new players don’t know it exists.

What exactly do you, Wranglerist, find bad about the current elementalist state? All I ever see on the Elementalist forum is, Eles are suppar, qq and how OP necromancers are.
There are a few things wrong with the Elementalist that could be fixed or looked into.
Ride the Lightning: 40 second cd if it does not connect. The buggy nature of this skill, as well as it being dogged / blocked, even though we use it the way the devs designed it needs to be looked at. A single CD for the skill would be nice.
Focus: A very powerful weapon when used correctly though could use some tweaks. Many of the skills have a very high cooldown for mediocre abilities. The trade off for no movement (not even swiftness) needs to be higher here I believe. Look at fire shield, it has such a high cooldown for such a poor effect. Fire shield would be very good if you removed the 1 second cooldown from the burning side of the effect. If you look at retaliation, it punishes fast attacks whereas fire shield does not. If a foe has condition reduction fire shields damage is … 0 as the burn will not tick at less then 1 second and is not reapplied till after that second.
Focus also offers 1 skill to deal with stealth and that skill is magnetic wave, which I’m sure everyone wants to waist to hit a thief who will heal the damage back within 2 seconds. Some of the other skills can be channelled into the thief’s stealth but once there it is hard to do any significant damage. Dagger main hand is much better at this role then Sceptre main hand. In fact, getting stuck in air or fire with sceptre main hand makes for fending off a stealthed thief very difficult (DT misses, phoenix has a high cooldown air has nothing, not a single skill to attack a stealthed foe)
Awkward camera angels to get your ranged auto attacks to go forward not into the ground. This is an issues that affects all classes, not just eles. Your ranged (projectile) auto attacks don’t go forward by default, what does that mean? It means melee is 100x easier to fend of a stealthed foe and as an elementalist … we cant change weapons.
Finally, something that should have been fixed at release or even worked on more then it is now. Delayed skills can be interrupted AFTER you have paid its price, the skill goes on cool down and the cast is fully completed. That is complete and utter bull crap that needs to be addressed before any other changes. You give us Shatter Stone and Dragons Tooth on the sceptre that are incredibly hard to get to hit in the first place and when we finally get a good shot off (or build specifically to use the great Dragons Tooth skill) it does 0 damage because some stun spamming, blind spamming tool stunned or blinded you just before it hit them. GpuppyG.
WTB Bug fixes over balance changes please. Don’t buff or nerf other classes until you fix their bugs. What happens if you buff the elementalist and then, later down the track you fix the aforementioned bug? Elementalists become op again. (well, that’s over the top, but you get the point).
Have a nice day, fix my delayed skills or remove them. Being puppydogged out of a skill I skilfully used by someone spamming blind or cc is not fun. Seeing the 5k over there head (because even when it lands it does mediocre damage) is much more fun.
PS I hate cats, for the record.
Take you character out of PvP, into PvE (preferably not lions arch) run around for 10 or so minutes till the world loads fully, return to PvP and try again. Some other people reported that this helps, I really couldn’t tell you, 300ms all the time (hates Americans when they complain about 100ms, com’mon man).
I think the balancing of this game would be quite difficult, especially when they don’t want to separate the skills between PvE PvP and WvW.
Currently, a build will become good and every one (bar a few players) will play that build for that profession. To increase the build diversity you would have to increase power of other less played builds while not making them better then the top build. Add to this the viability of said build in PvE and WvW changes everything. If you suddenly boosted warrior builds so they would all be good as skull crack then you would boost the warriors already good PvE skills further and who would play anything other then warrior in PvE?. Contrasty if you reduce the power of skull crack builds you would have to be carful not to reduce it too far.
Not only do you have to balance the profession over 3 parts of the game, but you also have to balance the profession and its builds to other builds of the same profession and the other professions. Taking into consideration how those other builds then perform in PvE, PvP (against all other builds) and WvW.
Remember, if they were to power down Necros and Rangers and power up the lesser classes at the same time, then you could get into a reverse meta. One where everyone would play Mesmer / Elementalist and Rangers and Necros would go back into the black.
Zerkers is a lot harder to play, but packs more of a punch. You will also notice that you will be weaker as zerkers offers no toughness, and the lesser vitality in this condition meta could be a death sentence.
What I didn’t say is I haven’t play D/D since decemberish and proposed stat distribution is something I would try, but have not tried before.
I did enjoy my old D/D build, but the bugs and lag got to me in the end. No I run S/F and another build that I had designed to defeat other D/D FOTM builds

It’s enough to completely remove the spirit build from the game.
Nobody would be stupid enough to run the build knowing they have no stun breaks, little condition removal and 30 points traited to something that’s dead most of the time.
Spirit ranger should be an even easier kill now. Just kill the spirits at the onset of every fight, save your interrupts for the recast and you have almost a minute to kill a defenseless ranger with conditions.
1 minute, I guess you don’t get interrupted all that often do you?
25 seconds + 5 seconds = not 1 minute.
I too would want to enjoy pet classes but not in a way that I have little to no control over the AI. The ranger pet themselves need more micromanagement and skill usage that requires positioning awareness however due to certain limitations of AI (terrain, pathing, etc) it’s kinda difficult to give more control to the player over the AI (the attack/guard and F2 control over the pet is so lackluster I feel that letting the pet train down a target to god knows where is the best usage of your pet right now). Innate skills of pets should all be controlled by the player and not some RNG by the AI pet. But to do this, AI should be at least in a way less susceptible to the AOE spamfest that the current meta dictates. But giving AI more HP wont be necessary if such condi AOE and cleave spam are brought in line in the first place.

Not everyone. I run a build that no one else runs (or possibly has similar too). Ele 20 15 10 15 10 S/F zerker. Only seen 1 other S/F ele and only seen 1 Staff ele (my friend) in my pvp travels.

Funnily enough, I bunker with Berserkers. Mind you I do prefer 5v5 hot join over rated matches, and use my build as a roamer in soloq.
I also dislike how those PvE / WvWers try to make GvG sound awesome as a 20 v 20 when guildwars GvG was always 8v8, 20v20 coming closer to alliance battles.
We all know 20 v 20 GvG would just be a mess, even 8v8 would be (and is) a mess with this game’s design
Don’t worry, us elementalists are in the same boat. Also the elementalist forums seem almost dead, 10 posts a day, usually QQ or new players. Anything not QQ is answered with Ele is dead.

I gave up on my ranger main at level 60. Still played it a bit in pvp, but not so much. Why? Pet.
I was a huge GW1 fan (owned 2 copies of each expansion and main game) and played primarily ranger (only other character was a fifty five Monk and W/R).
I had 3 GW1 rangers. Not a single one had a pet, there was an actual option to not take it in GW1 and it wouldn’t kiten you.
I parked my ranger because the pet was so unresponsive and made me weaker. I retried it after the patches to pets, but still having a drake run at your foe, stand beside it and fire it’s payload the wrong direction is just so annoying that I gave it up.

Didn’t take me that long …. zerker ele …. for last 8 months. Necros go down. Spirit rangers I still had problems with, will have to try them again with the new patch though.
Personally I think the moment you leave your shadow refuge, or it runs out, that you should become visible.
As to your current predicament, I believe that this is possibly intentional to prevent 5 thieves from stacking stealth to permanent.
As to it revealing you and taking you current level of stealth, that could be a bug. But going from refuge to refuge should not stack stealth.
I literally cannot play D/D.
0 15 0 25 30 zerker with doom sigil was my favourite ele build when I put up with it. 300+ ms affects the D/D ele so much that I have given up even trying. When 30+% of my skills fail duel to lag I refuse to even try to bear it any more. S/F it will be.
Also I play sPvP not WvW, D/D is not as good in spvp as it is in wvw.
I have a macro mouse. I use it 1 key 1 binding.
However under the settings there is a randomise option. So I can set
E.G.
A -> B -> C -> D
A 0 – 300ms -> B 300ms – 600ms etc
So each time I used the macro the key press would be different.
If you really wanted to easily get a burst combo on ele you would just bind F2 2 and 7 8 to qwer

and that’s on a crappy keyboard.

In CoD … its TDM or Hardcore TDM, no secondary objectives, nothing else matters as there is so little population on those other servers and queing for those other game types … well lets just say that whoever came up with P2P for multiplayer games needs to be shot, or live in Australia for more then a week
Long story short, people want to kill each other. A game is a “Safe” system, free from prosecution found in killing people in real life. Therefore when it comes to games, we like to break the rules of civilised life.
With GW2’s lack of trinity and high TTK (time to kill), making TDM would be quite a difficult venture. Strategies like target 1 and drop him would immerge and everyone knows how unbalanced the game is when you are 1 man down.
When it comes to a game like Halo, the TTK is about 1 second. So focusing is less optimal and trying to take the enemy individually per team mate is usually a better option. If you are 1 or even 2 members down you can still fight back and win.
Yea, getting bleeds or burns off before you go down is very useful. However, getting a 3 second skill off before you go down can be hard at times. Lightning Flash helps a lot (you can use it during your churning earth, earth 5, to teleport away or into foes.).
Lightning flash is defiantly worth a slot on the bar, or at least to be unlocked.
I like to use the frost bow and melt the enemies with frost bow 4, then 3 to chill, drop into Dragons Tooth – Phoenix combo (sceptre main hand).
What you want to do is get 1 Mesmer and 4 elementalists.
The Mesmer puts down entrance portal where the eles are.
Then finds some foes within its range.
The eles start casting churning earth and the Mesmer opens the exit portal ontop of the foes
You can guess what happens next.
Conjure weapons will get you close, 1 forced attunenment.

Sure, then you wake up and realize you were dreaming.
Possibly he doesn’t play in super high level pvp. A reason when my friend still plays staff ele in PvP since release (only ever changing for a flame axe S/D condition build every now and then).
I have never seen him die to the condition meta, rarely see him kill anyone by himself either, but that’s what happens when you play support.
I also don’t run Fresh Air, D/D, more then 10 arcane or more then15 water (don’t even have cleansing wave in my water traits) and necros are almost no problem for me.
