Sophea Sladorian – Charr Ranger – [DECM] | Sea of Sorrows
Sophea Of Elements – Human Elementalist – [DECM] | Sea of Sorrows
WTB ele build that is easy to play and can do any position you want. :p
Then a team does it, and kitten s. now its GG NERF RANGERS LOLOL THEY OP FOR 7 DAYS SO FAR OMGGG ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY.
Thief try to kill all spirit by spam aoe. Thief dead by double prock storm spirit 5k*2.
Thief kill spirit ranger. Instant self res. In this sense, even the engineers nervously smoking in aside.Yes, they just monstrously OP.
Not a ranger’s fault your to stupid to kill the spirit’s at range in 2-3 hits with your SB then go into melee.
That’s just stupid they must be OP, learn to play.
I wish they died in 1-2 hits, but then I’m an ele so it takes half my cds :/ and I lose half my hp by the time its dead
This would be the thing that makes me uninstall.
Come to PvP we have 50% less healing from water dodge for you, just because it is pvp.
Giant Icons for every skill is not the right choice. And they singled out necromancers. No other downed skill got a GIANT ICON!
I like the reaper idea TOBBYGNOME
What?
Necromancer changes:
•Doom: Added an effect that plays on the necromancer when this skill is used.
Doom != Fear. Fear is your downed skill. It has always had the exact same icon on it, for as long as I can remember lolling at downed Neckros fearing the wrong foe or trying to fear blinded.
Frozen Soil.
My favourite GW1 spirit. A double edged sword that could turn the tide of the battle or kill your team.
Traps are garbage. You are pretty much investing 30 points into a crit damage and precision tree and 3 utilities for a build that focuses on conditions, except it can be done so much better by a necro or engineer.
That’s what I always thought was odd about rangers. I used to run a trap Zerker build for the laugh of it. Was the only build that I could actually beat my friend Staff ele with in 1v1
What Neko said, can be found by: 1404 / 4 = 351
351 × 2 (critical assuming no crit damage) = 702So your build is 0 0 10 30 30?
My build is 0 20 0 20 30
I was sorta close :p
Can´t talk wvw, but my elementalist (0 30 10 0 30) with zerker amulet, scholar runes and sigill of air on scepter can 1o1 very well, and it even gets easier on less squishy specs.
Just a few necromancers or warriors CAN cause problems. But mostly I will win.Really? No 10 in water ? Is it hard to deal with condi foes?
Think that is fun build?
Check one of mine:
20 15 10 15 10
Thinking of taking the 10 out of arcane and putting it somewhere else.
BTW the 15 in water is not for condition cleanse.
Well, they call me Slasher, so I would love a sword. Would be cool to have a “Shared Attack”
A “Shared Attack” would be a move that takes the same slot in each element. Each element does something different on the follow up but is generally the same on the opener.I really like this idea. It would provide a bit of variability between attunements, without having to make new skills for each. I also like how most of your suggestions are very single-target focused. I would really like if we were given swords for movement+single target. Even better is if swords were a mix of melee and range (in diff attunements) so we could actually have a mixed set.
Indeed, it would be good to also see some now play styles, other then; get in their face and press buttons then run away, or stay at ranged and press buttons.
Actively engaging the player in the fights would be pretty cool. The proposed system I had above (“Shared Attacks”) would put the players thinking cap on. Some of the finisher parts (part2s) could be close range and some ranged (e.g. Fire and Earth close range and Water and Air long) where the opposite could be for the embed itself (fire and earth ranged, water and air closer range). It opens even more doors then just that. I do my fire rotation and embed my sword on the way, then I think should I pull it now for a blast finisher or switch to air and get a teleport/stun?. The water one would be, do I use water now as a miss for my heal, or do I need to put more pressure on now and get the dwyana hand heal later.
I was also thinking of something like using the sword as a medium for magic (which it is). Sword offhand 4 (Shared ability):
Fire:
Throw your sword into the ground. Ground target 900 range, lasts 10 seconds. While the sword remains embedded, it draws the power of fire for the caster, Fire, earth and Air skills will hit with burning, water skills will hit weaker. Special characteristic: All of your sword offhand moves are reduced by 25% while the sword remains in the ground.
Air:
While your sword remains embedded it draws the power of earth for the caster. You move 33% faster for the duration and inflict vulnerability with Fire, Air and Water skills, earth skills will hit weaker.
Water:
While your sword remains embedded it draws the power of water for the caster. You gain health whenever you attack in Air, Water or Earth, fire skills hits are weaker.
Earth:
While your sword remains embedded it draws the power of Earth for the caster. Your Fire, Water and Earth skill inflict bleeding, you gain toughness and your Air skills are weaker.
I wish I could have played beta ele, sounded fun.
All that I know about is that:
-Staff air #2 = instant
-Staff air #5 = larger and 3 seconds stun
-Lower cooldowns(?)
-Some autoattacks were less underwhelming (?)
Staff air 5 also stunned people where it was summoned, but was bugged so it would daze instead :/
Scepter air auto attack could kill people without needing other skills
Swirling winds has 6 sec duration @ 30 sec cd
With cd reduction trait 24 Sec
3×6 = 18 seconds + 3 sec of reflect + 2 sec invulnerability = 23 seconds of projectile defence, but only 75% projectile defence for everyone else (not one of those eles) in the group. So 2x Ele with S/F
2×6 = 12 seconds, 24 sec cd (when traited)
50% uptime for group
12 + 3 + 2 = 17 seconds = 71% for those eles and possible group IF the ele can get in the road of all incoming projectiles to physically block them (almost impossible to do when lagging :/)Note: I don’t do fractals so I don’t know the specifics of the mobs in question or builds required. This is all theory based stuffs
You can’t get in the road of all incoming projectiles with 20+ grubs and adding obsidian flesh with 50s cd is not really a good metric here.
D/F, no sane person uses S/F in pve.
Yea, but I’m not sane and I do not do pve, as previously stated :p.
I use S/F in pvp and have for a long time. Why? D/D bugs out too much with lag, and almost no one else uses /F so they don’t expect it. Have managed to beat a few eles who would hold off on their attacks and prepare a defence against RTL updraft lol.
What Neko said, can be found by: 1404 / 4 = 351
351 × 2 (critical assuming no crit damage) = 702
So your build is 0 0 10 30 30?
Yes:
The only 1v1s I dislike are Rangers with spirits (usually lose), Mesmers (usually lose due to it being a stupid class in 1v1).
Everything else I fight and don’t mind the fights. I also don’t use a forum build, all my builds are of my own creation sometimes with a little input from others. Every build I run I enjoy, even if they aren’t optimised. Its one of the reasons I like duel servers or 5v5 hotjoin, I don’t have to run “THE” build to have fun or to win.
Some fotm reroller is most likely always weaker than he would be playing his own native profession ?!
Yea, they are a lot weaker. Used to destroy the D/D Ele builds that everyone called OP, using a D/D zerker ele or S/F signet aura ele. Simply because I had played my class since release and they had just copy-pasted their build, maybe watched a video.
If you think spirit rangers are OP then you are a bad player. I play a Mesmer.
Everyone know Mesmer is OP in 1v1 situations. Obviously you can beat a spirit ranger. Shame they don’t have the same group support as the spirit Ranger.

Those who do not PvP or WvW are most welcome to stick to that, but I strongly believe that there are alot of players who are staying clear of PvP alltogether simply because the amount of effort and time invested in PvP has incredibly little rewards compared to the ones you get in PvE.
My belief is that current gamers have taken to much from the COD effect (that’s what I like to call it). The COD effect is how the multiplayer of Call of Duty Modern Warfare and its successors works. You start with a small pre-sets and work you way up to max level “unlocking” things along the way (unlocking is the key word in this effect). CoD MWF3 had dedicated servers just like CoD4, did me and my friends play on them? No even though they offered a lot less latency, a lot more anti cheat and anti hack we still played crappy old (only works in America) P2P. Why? because the severs didn’t have progression, ranking up, the feeling you get when you hear a 1 minute continuation of the guitar solo, that feeling of being bad kitten .
In the MMO world this would be the WoW effect. Getting a currency from PvP to become stronger at PvP. That’s what makes it fun, that’s the allure, I can become stronger. What GW2 offers is a game where you start on an even play field. Everyone has everything except skins. There is no ranking up to “unlock” things other then skins, there is no currency to be spent on becoming stronger, only skins.
In theory this type of PvP should have taken off and as a PvP only game it probably would have. However, since the game has PvE and WvW players are more drawn to the other parts of the game because they have Unlocks and Currency to become stronger. At the moment, if you are a primarily PvE player, the only thing you can get out of PvP is fun, no gold, no better gear, no legendary and no gems. Its a said time when people find getting out the Cheese Grater and running over their COF grinding heads is more fun (ha, more like more profitable) then playing some good old pvp.
(edited by TGSlasher.1458)
I have a Rank 1 account. My normal account is Rank 23ish. Don’t have enough time to grind rank and spend to much doing duels that don’t count progression XD
Necros fear is single target. If it doesnt matter why did they add it?
Dramatic effect?
^This, also so that viewers could see that some scary demon thing came out of the necro and feared the other play, not that the other player just ran off on a tangent for no real reason.
Its what I always hated about taunt. pokes tongue at enemy boss Enemy boss is now focused on killing that foe… Why? If I were an enemy boss and I was/ hitting the tank and it got health back I would be like … well that healer over there heals this guy and then I would proceed to 1 shot the healer unless the tank could get physically in between my Sword and the healers head. Don’t matter how many times you poke your tongue at me, that healer is going down.
(edited by TGSlasher.1458)
100 people play pvp but over 1000 play Pve, don’t expect much is what Ive learned. Pvpers dont even spend money on gems like the Pve’ers so we get no love!
I wouldn’t assmune that PvPers don’t spend money on gems.
I myself have brought 8000 × 6 gems + pre-ordered 1x Collectors edition and pre-ordered 1x Deluxe edition. I primarily pvp, only just got my Ele to PvE lvl 80 last month (playing as main since 1 week into release).
That’s almost $1000 (800ish + however much I had to pay as Aus not NA currency) spent on GW2 and I really only play PvP.
If guildwars 2 had of been Kickstarted and not NCSoft rammed “you know what you know where”, I would have spent $1000 on just the Kick-Start.
I have 2 copies of GW1 and each expansion as well (all but prof purchased on release at their $100 value).
I have spent more money on the Guild Wars games then I have on alcohol (considering I funded drinks for several parties in my time). I have spent more money on GW2 then the people I know that play it COMBINED. I have 2 jobs and no life because I work all the time. They’re like, new armour, I’ll just buy that with my farmed gold. If I want it I have to gem it.
(edited by TGSlasher.1458)
Im talking about the downed fear in OP. Its a cast and even noobs are dodging it. Haven’t landed a single fear since.
Love how everyone is like but its instant yada yada yada.Oh and tons of instant cc why dont they have HUGE animation icons. So nice try with its instant lol
I’m sure that the downed fear always had that icon when used. Doesn’t affect me though, still have my 2 instant blinds to stop your fear anyway (or my invulnerability)
Is there a profession that has been hit by the nerf bat as hard or as much as the ele since launch? This might be a bug, but it seems like someone really doesn’t want the ele to be good for anything.
Note – It’s still good for anything for the most part.
Since beta, don’t forget we had our damage on the sceptre reduced by a metric lot. Though auto attacking people to death in air was brokenly fun
You should almost be immune to projectiles with that many focus eles lol
What about war/war/necro/ele/ele with 20+ 84 lvl grubs? “Just” 50% uptime of projectile defense.
12 + 3 + 2 = 17 seconds = 71% for those eles and possible group IF the ele can get in the road of all incoming projectiles to physically block them (almost impossible to do when lagging :/)
Note: I don’t do fractals so I don’t know the specifics of the mobs in question or builds required. This is all theory based stuffs
I agree with all of these points
+1
With the introduction of 5v5 servers a few months ago, I believe that hot join has become a lot more fun. However, there are still some players (new and even old) that don’t know they exist. The new filter feature and browser is much better I do believe, but there are still a few improvements needed to make it great.
I would like to see (and I’m sure there are others whom would like this) 2 new default filters in the Hot-join browser. The 2 new default filters would be: 8v8 Hotjoin and 5v5 Hotjoin (bet you worked that out from the title, have cookie you smart fellow).
The list would then look like the following:
All:
8v8 Matches:
5v5 Matches:
Favourites:
“Curtom Filter YX!@Z”
While I know that you can create your own custom filters, this is not about that issue. It is about showing everyone in the pvp community that 5v5s do exist. I believe that 5v5s would help keep new players around. After they exhausted their 8v8 zerg tactics they could go into a smaller more skill oriented match and work toward forming a pvp team or solo que.
There have also been a few people asking for the matches to not show spectators. I believe (if it is possible within the engine) that the browser should not show spectators as well. This would allow you to see how many people are playing in the match, and wether its worth the wait to try and join (can get up to 30-40 seconds on my pc, even before this patch lag) the game or wether a game actually has players and not just people talking to each other in spectator slots.
Thankyou for your time
-Slasher
there is no matchmaking in hotjoin. thats why it is called hotjoin. you’re welcome
Oh, so the “play now” button only joins you to the first server on the list with a free spot? It doesn’t do matching at all?
Only the solo arena/ team arena’s have match making. Hot joins are just rooms to mess around in. Play now just finds a server that has room.
Oh ok, thanks for that. Explains a lot.
It seems like a topsy turvey arrangement. As a new pvp player, tourney or team or whatever its called seems like its something you “graduate” to after playing hotjoin for a while, but it seems like you’d actually learn more from tourney games than getting constantly facerolled in hotjoin.
Unfortunately that is the case for Hotjoin.
Fear not there is a hidden feature called Hotjoin 5v5.
To find this, simply press filter, then choose 5 v 5 for team size and leave all maps turned on. Then on the left you will see the “Filter” which you can name in the filter window. Click that then click refresh and if the settings you input were correct then presto, 5v5 hotjoin. This Filter will be saved for the next time you want to play. The 5v5 match’s will show up as 10/10 slots, that’s due to 5 slots of spectators per team.
5v5 hotjoin is a little closer to solo que pvp as a stepping stone (no one will complain about you if you are new). 5v5 also have generally less zergy games.
No need to ban Asura.
Just make an option in the menu to: View enemy players in PvP as Human. That way you can be an ET and everyone who looks at you can tell what the hell is going on.
I have no complaints about the Asura race, I even like a lot of their animations (side steping and dodging for example) but the advantage they gain when hiding their skill animations in their small bodies or hiding their small bodies in their pets is annoying.
I was fighting an Asura with a hammer yesterday. When the fight ended I looked at him and it looked like a small mace. Not as threatening as the large human with a massive candy cane.
Loading screen was always 30 seconds for me, now you can deal with my 1 year of pain :p
Did you know: Pyromancer’s Puissance works when in fire, not just for fire skills but for skills; A) cast before entering fire but end when in fire, B) utilities & healing skills and C) through sigil activated effects.
I run a very un-optimal S/F build atm, its actually a joke, people were laughing at it last night.
20 15 10 15 10
Laughing till I killed most of them.
Only thing I couldn’t beat in 1v1 (lost to) was: Mesmer (never beat them anyways, OP 1v1 in my opinion) Ranger (waisted half the fight getting rid of his stupid spirits), a thief that ran the same build as the thief before him (one that I had beaten) and an Asura warrior with a hammer that I couldn’t see till it was too late (had him for a minute swing in thin air though unable to hurt me lol).
Only thing I couldn’t beat in 1v1 (stalemate) was a warrior with Soldiers, healing signet and banners grant regen. We were both at full health for a gold long time before we gave up)
Things that I did beat:
Warrior Sword Board / Longbow condition (hard fight)
Ele S/D GC (hard fight)
Thief P/D with stealth (similar build to the one I lost with) managed to kite his guild into a wall and DT them away
Neckros with condition and golem (hard fight, 40 something hp left at end)
Things I’m afraid of fighting:
Boon ripping thieves
Mesmers (condition or burst, I hate them both)
Things I enjoy fighting:
Warriors
Mesmer who don’t stealth (one of my favourite battles yet)
Other eles, always fun to watch them use all the heal mechanics and waist so much time healing when they could just finish me off lol (more time for my heals to come back lol).
While my build isn’t the most powerful in the game I enjoy it. Me and a friend run the same build through 5v5s and 8v8s (though more 5s) and troll the crap out of people. Never did you see an ele with 10-20 seconds of protection on it at any one time.
Edit:
As to underatted builds, I used to play wow (wraith and cataclysm). I run a demonology build on my lock, despite everyone saying go affliction. I could solo 2 man arenas vs certain builds, can tell you those guys would have been kitten ed. Then I ran Destruction on my lock and my friends told me to stop playing lock, after beating them in every dual and setup they tried.
When everyone ran daphoenix in gw2, I ran burst ele (though no where near as effective as no lagging eles lol) 0 15 0 25 30 with zerkers and divinity. I could beat your FOTM builds. Then I changed to focus (before the signet nerf … yes I say adding stun break is a nerf) and could still beat FOTM D/D builds. Now I run some random set of traits trying to find my way after the signet nerf.
(edited by TGSlasher.1458)
I do 70+ fractals, I use D/F 0/30/10/20/10 (Fresh air, elemental attunement), full berzerker.
It works really nicely because we have a rather optimized group with tons of reflect (3 D/F elems, some guardians or mesmers).
I find that vigor is not necessary, fire traits are really lacking unless you use staff (even conjurer is weak), and that Fresh air is compulsory.I think that you should consider switching to more zerker gear and getting rid of fire traits (10 points with + 5% damage to burning foes is ok though), you can put those points in more optimal defensive traits (water and earth).
In the end a large part of how successful you will be in fractals depends on how efficient your group is.
You should almost be immune to projectiles with that many focus eles lol
Frost Bow: needs range increase to 1500 and 50% dmg increase on first and last skill.
Magnetic shield: needs a 200% dmg increase
Fiery sword: need to be a real weapon, no time limit.
Hammer: needs a 100% dmg increase
I don’t know about a 100% hammer increase, the auto attacks can hit for 3-5k.
The magnetic shield need to be instant cast and stun break.
Most of the conjures would be good if they were instant cast. Getting interrupted while casting the conjure then finally getting it out and then getting interrupted again with it out is annoying.
I don’t use mist form, and I haven’t noticed this with Obsidian Flesh.
I’d think that at the very least being able to use one handed swords as an Elementalist would make sense.
Well, they call me Slasher, so I would love a sword. Would be cool to have a “Shared Attack”
A “Shared Attack” would be a move that takes the same slot in each element. Each element does something different on the follow up but is generally the same on the opener.
For example: If I start in fire and use 3, it will throw my sword and embed on a successful hit. If I then switch to water, water 3 will be the part 2, the retrieve. Thus share attack.
In the next example the “Shared Attack” will be on skill 3.
Fire:
3:
Part1: Flaming Sword Throw: Throw your sword at your foe, the sword is embedded in the foe for 15 seconds, doing damage and burning your foe.
Part2: Molten Sword: (Condition: Sword is embedded in a foe) Spew Molten Lava at your embedded weapon, if it hits the sword explodes (blast finisher) and does high damage to the foe and surrounding enemies. The weapon is melted in the process, you summon forth a molten version of that weapon that inflicts 1 second of burning when you attack for the next 3 seconds before returning to a normal weapon
Air:
3:
Part1: Aerial Sword Throw: Throw your sword at your foe inflicting vulnerability if it hits. The sword is embedded on hit for 15 seconds.
Part2: Flash of the Swordless: Teleport to your embedded weapon, stunning the foe it is embedded in. Retrieve your sword
Water:
3:
Part1: Sword of Dywana: Throw your sword at an ally or foe. The sword will embed into a foe, or will return if it hits an ally or misses (not from blind, from no target). This ability will work similar to phoenix when targeting an ally, the ally will be healed and you will be healed when it returns. If hitting a foe the foe will be chilled and chilled for 1 second every 3 seconds the sword is embedded.
Part2: Hand of Dywana: Send forth a watery hand to retrieve your sword, the sword will heal you when it returns, heal allies in its path and apply regen to nearby allies (around the caster).
Earth:
3:
Part1: Flight of Excalibur: Encase your sword in stone and throw it at your foe. The stone explodes on contact (blast finisher) and deals damage, as well as bleeding over time for as long as the sword remains imbedded.
Part2: Path of the Quake: Shake the earth between you and your foe, removing the embedded sword, immobilising your foe and retrieving your sword.
If at any point the Sword Part 1 misses, then part 1 will remain the active skill. If part 2 misses then the sword will remain embedded.

I used to play D/D in spvp as cannon.
0 15 0 25 30 Build with Zerkers Amulet and Divinities gear.
If I were ever to run that again (which I wont due to the D/D being one of the most buggiest weapons the Ele has when lagging) It would be 0 20 0 20 30 or 0 15 10 15 30.
Now I’m enjoying playing around with the S/F (still, been playing around with this since before the RTL nerfs lol).
Are any of these new runes and sigils available in pvp?
Technically the Hammer stuns require some skill to land, as the tell is pretty high. However, Asura characters with hammer have a huge advantage as you can’t even tell they have a hammer. Going from a Human Male with a huge candy cane to an Asura with a small mace … wait no that’s a hammer.
Mesmers are just stupid in 1v1 fights. Stealth trolol deal with my pests. And condition mesmers are very though to fight, if you hit their clones they actually die, covering you in death. Unlike the other mesmers who’s pests have more hp and deal more damage then they do, while they play hop-scotch in the corner. The most fun fights I’ve ever had was D/D cannon v D/D bunker (me being the cannon and the victor after a good 5 minute fight) and a S/F signet build vs a Mesmer without stealth.
I hate stealth so much that I hardly use it on my thief. I’m able to dodge 5-6 times in a row adding stealth would just be stupidly OP for my build. I use Cloack and Dagger into steal to setup my pistol stealth move, that is the entirety of the stealth on that build. Me and my friend (he created the build) use it to troll people in 5v5s. Fighting another thief with it, the lols when you win most of the time and they spend half the fight stealthed. Nothing more fun the whipping around the field (dodging) as an Asura.
Remember when we could go into tornado, go out and keep the stability? Then they “fixed” that. IMO it shows exactly how terrible our elites are. I’d still pick mist form over any of them(except maybe tornado for staff and that’s a BIG maybe).
That was great
I also remember being able to stack up to 28 seconds of stability somehow (not using tornado).
Pretty sure the op said this somewhere, I mean I could be quoting someone else but I don’t think so:
3. It would allow other traits in Water/Arcane to be buffed or reworked to make them more interesting.
It would allow other traits in Water/Arcane to be buffed or reworked to make them more interesting.
Things could be reworked or buffed such as (just some ideas):
Switching the heal from Evasive Arcana with a chill won’t kill the elementalist, as long as suitable buffs are handed out.
Obviously if all of the above changes were issued then the ele would be brokenly op. But if you could get the Stop Drop and Roll heal for 20 points and free 30 points from Arcane then that would make a few more builds viable.
So, rebuilding my S/F last night, I was running a pretty funny build:
20 15 10 15 10
I could take down Bow / Sword Shield Warriors, Most of your other warriors (condition and burst based). The only 2 I had troubles with were the Asura Sword Shield / Hammer because I couldn’t see the hammer till it was too late. And a regen with banners regen based warrior, that was an infinite fight and we bother gave up after 3 mins.
The only classes I have problems with are:
Rangers with spirits and Mesmers. Thieves to an extent.
Rangers because they don’t die and you waist half the fight taking out their kitten spirits.
Mesmers because they stealth to much and if you play S/F a lot you will notice the lack of vs stealth tools it has (compared to d/d anyways). The stealthing combined with their pets that do more damage then they do
Thieves aren’t to much of a problem just a stupid an boring fight as I see the Invulnerable above my character 6 times while the spam away in stealth and I wait for phoenix to come of cd. Usually I just stand still and spam auto attack till I can imob them for a nice DT to the face.
Haven’t had a chance to vs guardian yet, seems to be a lack of them in the 1v1 scene. Neckros aren’t much of a problem, neither are engies. They are fun fights though. Warriors are a fun fight as well, though the ones with double regen (banners and signet) are over the top at defence (esp with soldiers rune lol). But it means they can’t dint my armour and I can’t hurt them too much.
If you run full glass cannon, expect to do less damage then other classes while still being relatively as weak as they are. If you come up against a tank warrior, just leave it alone and move along.
Remember when we could heal in Obsidian Flesh … oh wait, still can
9/10, Shadowrend kinda seems a tad too poetic for a ruthless ash killer though, but you never know with these charr females
The generic warband charr names are too mainstream for me xD mine’s Valyrian Fang<—Targaryen approved yo
6.5/10,
Doesn’t feels ’’charry’’ enough to me, sure Fang is charr-related but in my opinion it’s not creative enough to get a higher rating. I’m sorry.Mine >-Galvar Ironheart, Engineer of the Iron Legion.
Yep,you need to be a fan of the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series for the deeper meaning behind the name to click
It is exceptionally sharp, tremendously strong, and extravagantly expensive.
I have a female Charr Ranger
Wearing pirate gear atm (I think that’s the set, haven’t played her in a while).
I wanted a human ranger as a descendent from my GW1 character, but went for Charr instead.
Hey everyone I stopped playing guild wars 2 due to a lack of a computer strong enough to run this game in pvp. I am returning, and wondering how the current state of the game has become. Has it improved or is it still relatively the same?
P.S. are warriors finally strong enough to fit in the meta?
Warriors are very strong in 1v1 when built for it. I still find them lacking in a team environment however.
My load times have always been high. My friends were higher. He got a solid state and now he loads almost instantly. Might be time for me to upgrade
I’ve had an SSD for months, and this change is very obviously and very definitely the patch. I went from .5s loading screens to 5-10s loading screens.
There’s also random server latency. My ping runs between 50-90, with some 100ms spikes – it averages around 65ms. In multiple games today, I’ve watched a .2-.4 second lapse between the button I pressed, and my character performing said skill. It basically makes the game unplayable – I can’t interrupt heals, I can’t dodge big swings, etc etc etc. It’s annoying to screw up and get hit by an eviscerate or a shatter, but that’s ultimately my fault – it’s absolutely infuriating to eat that same ability because I’m using an ability I pressed nearly half a second ago instead of the dodge I’ve timed correctly.
I’ll trade you ping, I would be over the moon to have 100ms. I haven’t had a chance to try the game since the patch (it happening at 5pm Australia time, the time I finish work).
Give this a try, take your pvp character to a pve area, wait for it to fully load then head back to the mists. See if that improves your latency.
Not too sure on the 5 points in water. This will add about 100 hp/s and it is one of the only traits that work with Lingering Elements. However, even if you stayed in water for 5 seconds then switched this would only grant around 1k hp (100 x (5 sec in water + 5 sec lingering)).
I personally think you would be better to spend the 5 from water in air. That will boost your crit damage to 62% boost your crit chance by 2% and allow you to get something like tempest defence. More fury, damage and more shocking aura.
I think a chill could be interesting.
After all, that good old pvp and its EA water dodge healing for 50% what it does everywhere else.

Here’d be my modifications:

Its a shame so many people try to shut this down without even giving it a chance.
As to bloodlust, personally I like to take doom (poison). Just personally. With 94% condition duration theoretically the poison should have a long, almost 100%, uptime(if not cleansed). This is coming from a sPvP point though (where the poison only really lasts 6-7 sec). I like to hit them where it hurts and remove their heal potential where possible.
How am i suppose to bring down any warrior who heals 400 hp per second, takes minimum damage from my burst, basically uneffected by my conditions and CC and can stun me for 6 seconds almost every 8 seconds of being free?
Tips? Or do i just roll over and die? Because for whatever reason this type of warriors burst is also 4 times greater than mine and 50 times more reliable as i only have a 2 second knockdown with a 50 sec cd to hold some1 down to get some good damage off.
Build?
I generally use Gale into dragons tooth (hope for no lag) then follow with phoenix. Interrupt their heal with comet or poison and then use the blinds as survival (3 in total). As soon as I can get back into fire I go with a signet of earth into dragons tooth (so long as the warrior has waisted his berserker stance). Keep on the move, don’t ever stop. Finally Lightning Flash, this will get you out of trouble when the doodoo hits the fan
My burst build is:
10 30 10 20 0 (10 in fire for 10% condition duration, enough to land a DT off earth sig)
-or-
0 30 10 20 10 (2x lyssa runes for above reason)
So i was excited about solo Q today. I patched and queued for it… i played 5games in a row all are losts due to afkers T_T ( we even had a 3v4) . So is it possible to get my MMR reseted? because i’m pretty sure im already kittened and will be queued with that kind of people forever which will make me quit gw2. Asking this because i should not lose rating/have worse MMR because of an even match.
Devs consider. Players lets try to be constructive
I agree, the game should detect an uneven match and remove rating gain / loss for that match.
All they need is /resign from GW1. That would solve your problem.
+1

A message the shows up when you are 1 down:
“Your team has lost a member, the fight moves in the enemies favour. Would you like to continue the battle or resign?”
My load times have always been high. My friends were higher. He got a solid state and now he loads almost instantly. Might be time for me to upgrade
Ya Cope I miss the hell out of GW1 Ranger. The monstrosity that is GW2 Ranger kitten es on its glorious heritage
Me too. I miss playing The Lord Richard I, The Lord Richard Il and The Lord Richard Ill all rangers. And Lord of Obligation Warrior/Ranger. This pet required thing, where is my robin hood? Master of the Wilds, my Strider? I indulge in hunting ever once and a while, don’t take no pet with me, just my trusty bow and a few broadhead arrows and the old pig sticker and my sword for when I drop the pig sticker in the mud :/.
