It’s a very smart choice -.-? That’s why Guild Wars 2 is so succesful right? I’m not saying it failed, but it could have went alot better if they actually cared about the competetive players. Also what do you mean with ‘’the casual players would feel left out’‘? What the kitten is this? Hello Kitty online? Aslong as it doesn’t give them stat benefits it’s alright.

Afaik, GW2 sold millions of copies. That’d be the definition of “very successful” when it comes to a b2p game. They don’t need to keep the 50 ppl who play 10h/day, they actually need to keep the thousands of players who log once a week. A casual player will hang around the game over a longer period of time thus would be more likely to be around when an expansion comes and for events(which come with cash shop items). A hardcore player will burn through content in a matter of weeks(hey, first lvl 80 would force your competitive players to literally burn through the game in a matter of days) and move on to a next game where s/he can compete again resulting in that player not being around for the next cash-in patch. Furthermore, people who can put in the hours to be “competitive” in a game rarely spend money on the cash shop. For one, spending so much time online allows them to generate enough gold to not need real money to support their gaming. Second…if smb plays 10h/day, they aren’t likely to also have a job thus no money to spend on the game. I’m fairly certain the game is not run by uneducated idiots at least when it comes to the money department and they do know how to squeeze the most out of a game.

No, it’s not Hello Kitty. It’s called “customer service”. People feel left out → people feel unwanted → people leave. And since the people in question are their most likely source of money, they don’t want to lose them. Whether you and the other 50 hardcore players leave or not is far less important than the thousands of working adults who spent money on the game.

Why wouldn’t they both be possible? If you read my post i said ‘’only cosmetic’’ And even that lacks in this game. The legendary weapons lack in the story part, and doesn’t feel ’’legendary’’ at all. This game should be for everyone from casual to competetive. And i think you misssunderstood me. I don’t want to be superior to others and have better gear then other people. I simply want a better reward system. Everything from good looking cosmetic gear to ladders to achievments that tells people who are the best PvPers or PvE:ers.

It’s simple, really. Casual players feel left out when placed in competitive environment. And since games are all about satisfying players, they tend to choose their direction. GW2 devs opted for casual-friendly possibly because casual players tend to be the people more likely to spend money on the game after the initial purchase(obvious reasons). It’s a very smart choice xD

Worrying: Asceneded gear replacing Exotics.

I disagree that they werent rare enough. They were just fine and acquiring them was perfect because it let have options and choice.
You get them somewhat quickly but could have multiple sets for different builds. Now you have 1 build with ascend that is it. Poor and horrible design.

Weird, I have 3 different sets of ascended for my main, 2 to match my exotics sets and 1 because I am/was considering another build.

It also gave people who had alts the ability to gear up at a hard but decent rate. Now you pick 1 toon and that is it. poor and horrible design.

Dunno about you, but my ascended items, fotm tokens etc are all account bound. Oh, and in addition to the sets on my main, I have 1 set for my 2 alts. Got that by running fotm once a day.

With that plateau it let you chase after the more exotic of the exotic (named ones) or legendary. But now you need to use resources from that chase for ascend gear.
Again Poor and horrible design.

Oh, right, 3 gifts for legendary to match my ascended sets. I started playing in September and looked at legendary some time in November.

So for me ascend is nothing but poor and horrible design that has crippled this game for no reason and we lost 35% of the player population so that 1% of the population can have a +1. (who them promptly left and went back to wow)
Again Poor and horrible design implemented without thought or understanding of the consequences.

Your data comes from…where exactly? And in case you missed it, GW2 is b2p, not p2p.

Unattainable Goals 2

TWMagimay.9057

I’m not quite sure what "goal*s*"you have that require more gold than you can make while playing the game the way you want. Ascended gear is not tied to gold(unless you want to infuse it which shouldn’t be that hard having in mind fotm drops), exotics and general expenses are also pretty easy to cover(unless you want to just port around randomly for no apparent reason). That leaves legendary…which is obviously meant as a carrot on a stick for pve players. What it could’ve been or should’ve been(according to you), doesn’t really matter. It is the way it is and it’s a beeping cosmetic item. If you want to drive a Porsche, you gotta put the money on the table but a VW will get you to the same place just fine.

I also don’t know what you like doing in the game, but…pve generates a good amount(dungeons, events, gathering or simply grinding mobs), spvp doesn’t generate income but it also requires no gold(which obviously makes sense), wvwvw…well, I don’t do that, but my fiancĂ© lives there and he’s doing just fine(paying repairs, buying upgrades and siege quite often and supplying me with ectos and t6 mats for which i sent him about half the tp price xD).

TWMagimay.9057

I’m worrying that once complete ascended sets appear on the world, people will completly ignore the exotics that we worked so hard to make and craft and go directly to them, and crafting diciplines will become meantingless.

Crafting disciplines were designed to be “meaningless”(at least in the sense you put in the word). It literally takes 30 min and under 5g to get any discipline to lvl 400 thus making crafting accessible to everybody and not some sort of endgame status you-are-awesome feature. In addition to that, most stat combinations can already be obtained through dungeons(and those have fancier skins) which also makes crafted gear less desired. Ascended gear won’t change the status of crafting since even know that feature is more of a way to level chars than to create gear.

As for working hard for exotics…puhlease. No matter your playstyle, you can get those as a by-product of doing w/e it is you enjoy(spare for spvp, obvious reasons) in a reasonable amount of time.

My god, my whole point about ADAPTING was experimenting. Do you think cave men froze to death in the winter? no they experimented with this thing called fire.

I have a problem with these ridiculous cookie cutter builds your suppose to use.

Stop being mentally challenged, take what anet gave you and work with it. E

Wait…

Get your self a cookie cutter build, learn to play it, adjust it and go.

You were saying? And, no, changing two skills or 1 trait in a cookie cutter build does not experimenting make.

either that or you fail at adapting. I like my answer better.

What do you like about it so much? That your suggestion is “don’t experiment, don’t explore classes, just go with the flow, do what everybody else does and you’ll be fine”? Is that the freedom of choice this game provides? A cookie cutter build that everybody uses? Why do classes have build options? And why isn’t it broken when there is a "best"choice? If anything, your answer supports OP by stating that the game balance is broken.

And there’s FotM, which is faster than that.

The faster you do it, the faster you get to go somewhere ELSE and get its gold and items.
Or, you know, the faster you finish farming and go do something more interesting.

Then why do people run dungeons? As I said, jogging a circle around FS is so much faster. Try doing that instead and tell me how speed is the most important thing when farming.

no skill is not part of any dps comparison formula, since we talking about the individual player, YOUR skill doesn’t change whether YOU run in beserkers or mf gear, YOUR dps does however decrease if you run the mf ones (apparently you survive fine so berserkers would make more sense as alternative to you), which means in turn that mobs dies slower if YOU run mf, maybe leading to that some of the OTHER plates that you live longer than might not have died in the long run, which then means you helped the TEAM do the run FASTER and will LESS casualties

So, basically, what you are saying is…s/he is not carrying others enough and should do even more. And that’s…selfish?!

did you miss the part about doing the run FASTER, wihc means everyone yourself AND the rest of your team can go on do others stuff (or maybe have time for another run) earlier, thus helping everyone, both himself and the others…

And here I thought people run dungeons for gold and items. If you want it “faster”, just go run a circle around Frostgorge Sound. That’s really fast as well.

You people seriously need to learn2play. A MF user isn’t any more “dead weight” than a number of other players. Why isn’t there a topic about all sub-optimal builds in the game? Why aren’t you complaining about the guy potentially running Arah in blue lvl 40 gear because he’s saving up for a legendary? Ain’t selfish enough for you? And what the heck is wrong with being selfish? It’s human. You spent $50 on this game. That money could’ve saved a child from starvation. You played 600h+. You could’ve spend that time volunteering to help the homeless. Why didn’t you if you are all so selfless and always looking out for others? Why do you live in a nice place, own shiney things and eat good food? How do you live with yourselves knowing how selfish you are? And, guess what, this stuff actually matters. As opposed to smb being a bit less useful in an online game. Yet, you seem to find mf users too “selfish” for your liking. Hypocrites.

Assuming you have full Ascended gear, it does give a considerable advantage in WvWvW, but not enough to consistently take on multiple foes.
Each player = about 100% increase

PS, i am against ascended and have never done FoTM.

You know what people say about “assume”, right? When that gear comes, the devs promised it won’t be locked in fotm.

@OP: If 5 people are hitting you, the 25% dmg more still isn’t any different from 5%. Because now you are taking 500% dmg due to the increase of attackers.

John Smith posted in the BLTP forum that the 200 people who were banned, between themselves, created over 275,000 Ecto. That’s something that had serious potential to gravely affect the GW2 economy, so ANet had to take action.

It had potential…in theory. And theory can only be thought of by smb who has no idea how a dynamic market works. If anything, that recipe had the potential to return the game to the cost-gain balance prior to ascended gear.

what I mean by the right gear is this, in gw2 you can go in with rare yellow gear and still come out on top because your skill makes up for the difference, in wowask trinity based game the fights are scripted to such an extend you will not succeed unless you have the right gear for that particular encounter it is the reason there is gear score and raiding tiers.

Oh, look, a healer in what would be less than Masterwork grade gear in that game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVN96I_HFCM&list=UUL-EckqxMmCN6GiAc-VOQ0w . So…if I buy 300 shoulderpads with dungeon tokens, salvage them and get 500 ectos, I should be banned? Interesting theory.

@TWMagimay, so not true,

the very definition of best build in any trinity mmorpg is this:

dps best = min/max for your given class
tank best = min/max for your given class
heal best = min/max for your given class

Anything subpar or catered to your individual desire is purely minor, maybe one or two skills or skill points at best.

Or maybe you just never went deep enough into classes. Or played poorly designed games. 2Moons nerfed segnales(the healer class) like 6-7 times in 2 years because we were doing so much dps and dd builds were still viable. In Aika my usual dungeon tank was a dual gunner(as far as squishy dps stereotypes go, that was it, the guy just took squishy and made it unkillable). It’s not just about skills or master/trai/w.e points. It’s about a complete build. Just because you are a healer doesn’t mean you have to max healing or that you will be somehow…worse because you didn’t. You will simply change the way the class plays.

there are those in which even race/class combinations are the best for a given role
and if you choose anything else you’re not doing the best in your given part of the trinity and as such will get you kicked off the party most of the time because of dps meters !

Actually…I never played a game with a dps meter…or was kicked form a party for wrong race/class combo….actually, I don’t think I’ve ever been kicked from a party….

Also I hate the fact that in a trinity mmo my toon is always locked in place if I go tank that is all I can do, not to mention the fact that most trinity mmo’s are all about playing the UI and not looking at what is going on, as long as you keep up with your skill rotation you can watch TV if you felt like it.

Again, bad games or bad players. I seriously don’t know what kind of trash yall played if that’s how you see games. The only times I did that stuff only was when I was being lazy and I was well aware that I was playing poorly and not even at half my potential. I never allowed myself to do that in pvp(which prior to GW2 was my main focus) because, well, I’d be letting my team down…

GW2 and trinity: healthy discussion

Posted by: TWMagimay.9057

TWMagimay.9057

To add fuel to this discussion, what about those that insist trinity exists in this game? Those people that would say in a world event, or dungeon “Let me pull”. I had an argument with someone in map chat a few days ago when, at the start of a world event, he said “let me pull”. I pointed out to him that theres no such thing as a true tank in this game, and no healer to keep you alive.

Pulling =/= tanking. And some people are better at judging aggro range and pulling the right (amount of) mobs. If there were 3 people and 50 mobs, the guy who’s confident that he can pull only 10 of those would naturally want to do it instead of watching smb ram themselves on the 50 mobs and get everybody killed…

Long story short, there are people that still insist that there is a trinity, that they can build their character via stats and trait lines to be as tanky as they want. You will not convince these people otherwise.

Tanky =/= tanking. Aggro control is the defining characteristic of a tank. It also doesn’t exist in GW2. Being tanky is a bonus cookie that helps you deal with said aggro.

Then there are people that think the trinity was replaced with something else: Control, Support, Damage. A little less tanky, more movement and damage control. A little less healy, and more support via boons and heals.

Wait…what?

Then there are those of us that think that people can build their character however they want, but do not expect to sit in the back and launch heals or condition removals…or sit in front of the boss and soak damage.

This what always bugs me about these topics. People who fail hard at tanking and healing trying to give an opinion on what those roles are about. Every game I ever played offered the chance to build your char the way you like. There were, ofc, certain limitations, but those were compensated by strong sides. Like, a dps class can tank, aggro can be generated through dmg and survival can be ensured through the right gear and skills. Tanks can provide some healing and dmg mitigation for the party thus sub for a healer. Healers can build for high dmg and/or cc. Sure, they won’t be the best in that unusual field, but they do make up for it with their own strengths. And pushing the limits of your class…well, that is fun. Doing stuff nobody thought were possible, coming up with builds nobody tried before, watching your little healer evolve into this pure force of nature… There is so much you can do in a well-designed game… And GW2, for all its praise and freedom….why is it that when I look on the ele forums, I see the “most viable build”? Why is there even such a thing? I miss playing a game where the answer to “what’s the best build?” was “w/e you like most” and not “30 in arcana, d/d”…

Crafters do have a different license then a non-crafter that must use the mystic toilet to make his stuff because we put in the time and resources to get it to max. Ascended should be a crafter only set of bought recipes with resources that drop evenly in the open world. End of story.

There are non-crafters in this game? o.O

and sPVP isn’t required for world completion so that argument is moot. As soon as they remove that requirement for WvW I’m going to throw an online party let me tell yeah. If it weren’t for WvW being a requirement to finish exploration or that there’s an unnatural drop rate there compared to the pve open world this pve’er wouldn’t worry about getting ascended and that’s where the mistake lies methinks.

You do realise that you can get WvWvW completion on a lvl 20 naked char, right? It’s not like you have to fight or w/e, just walk into places. And, lol at needing ascended gear to do WvWvW. I’m currently watching my fiancĂ© level his new char there. As in, he went to WvWvW as lvl 2 in the basic gear and didn’t seem particularly bothered by it…

In all the MMOs I’ve played, that’s all I had to do. Especially TERA, where I literally blew through every instance by standing back, watching health percentages, and pressing hotkeys when I had to.

No, I wasn’t a particularly excellent healer. But I also never caused a wipe, so.

You are wrong, in this case.

Just because people carried you through dungeons or w/e content in games doesn’t mean you were any good. And it most definitely doesn’t say anything about the role of a healer. Good healers have to be aware of everything that’s happening around them. Especially in Tera, where healing is the least of what a priest/mystic does….

The mystic has better lock on skills, the priests heals consist mostly out of ground targeting. The last time I played Tera his lock on (priest) skill was inadequate as you get closer to max level. I don’t play Tera because of fees and because questing was annoyingly boring, not because of the healer/trinity. But enuf discussion about the competition, don’t you think

Amm, no, not really. I played Tera since CBT3 on NA all the way to September(when the gear grind finally got to me and I moved to GW2). I had both mystic and priest at 60 in omnom gear. The basic lock-on skills are virtually the same for both classes(except mystic has a hot attached to it but that is a topper). The strongest heal in the game was the priest lvl 60 lock-on. And between those 2, ground targeted heals for priest were precisely hp/mp toppers and the occasional very situational moment for the short range burst heal. And Tera isn’t even remotely competition for GW2. Just like Civilizations w/e-number-they-got-to isn’t. The 2 games are so completely different….

Anyway…I miss being a pvp healer so darn much…if GW2 had trinity combat, it’d be my ultimate dream MMO. It’d at least be more challenging and less boring….

You don’t have to think about what’s going on beyond the confines of health bars and cooldowns.

Let me disagree. In most games the healer targets the person in need of healing and press his skill. In Tera the priest needs to ground target the person in need of healing just like ground target skills in GW2. People are running and jumping around and ground target based healing is much more difficult because of it. So very often people see a circle and jump out of it. Ofc a good player sees the difference between a healing circle and a damage circle quickly. But the healer will still take the blame, as always. Not enough players want to play this essential class as an consequence. Good healers get still so much cursing that they reroll etc. etc.

Never actually played a healer in Tera, have you… I played both mystic and priest. The primary heal skill is a lock-on, ground targeted skills are hp/mp toppers. A party’s survival doesn’t rely on those. And a thing about good healers. We tend to get good parties that appreciate us instead of blaming us. The last time I was blamed by smb…he was a pug who replaced our mia slayer. The very second he called me “noob mystic”, a kick pop-up appeared and as soon as I confirmed, he was out. Good parties don’t let anybody abuse their healer. If a healer is getting cursed at all the time and there is nobody willing to defend them…that healer ain’t good. In 9Dragons we griefed a guild into disbanding because their leader insulted one of our healers.

Tera? The tera healer doesn’t need to be just good, he needs to be epic. The ground targeting is just awful, the healer needs super human capabilities to anticipate because DDs jump out of the heal circles instinctively.

That made me lol. Ground targeting is awful? As opposed to…ground targeting in any other game? There is nothing particularly hard to being a healer in Tera compared to other games. If anything, it’s a whole lot easier, because the rest of the party can actively pitch in and take the load off the healer. As for anticipation….let me introduce you to the circle of good players where healing is the last thing you do(only if you are bored and don’t want to forget what keys you bound those skills to).

Instead of 1 person being responsible for the teams survival, everyone is now responsible. Not just for keeping themselves alive, but for coordinating with each other to use control and support skills at the right times. A dungeon run with a coordinated team is far more enjoyable and tactically entertaining, than a team who has no coordination at all.

Welcome to the 21st century where games are based on teamwork and the healer’s job is not more important than the dps.

To clarify, though, I’m not telling people “it’s cheap, so you should enjoy it” but rather “it has entertained you for X hours, at a cost slightly higher than nothing.”

Enjoyment is assumed. If you’ve played for even 10 hours and haven’t enjoyed it, you’re doing something wrong. Why would you put so much time into something you don’t enjoy?

Because you are hoping it might grow on you? I can honestly say I didn’t enjoy the first 10h in GW2, had to force myself through it. I’m a slow learner and GW2 throws you into serious combat from the start(I have never died at lvl 10 in a game until I started playing here). I was still trying to work out the controls(because in Tera you turn the screen by moving your mouse, for example, instead of holding down a mouse button) while mobs were 2hitting me….

Many of us have accumulated hundreds of hours of play time. That wouldn’t be the case if we didn’t want to keep logging in during our free time.

Even if you do hate the game and every second in it; if you’ve spent hundreds of hours playing it, then the other posters are correct – you are a masochist. BUT, even if that’s the case, in a roundabout way you’ve still gotten your money’s worth because the painful experience you’ve subjected yourself to by playing GW2 has provided you pleasure. Such is the nature of masochism.

I sincerely hope that isn’t your, or anyone else’s, motivation for playing the game, but in any case, you have gotten your money’s worth out of those hundreds of hours of gameplay.

There is a difference between hating smth and simply not enjoying it. It can just as well be a way to pass the time. Like watching a soap opera with your grandma because it’s that or knitting. The feeling that you got your money’s worth out of smth is very subjective. It’s not something you can influence when it comes to other people. You are happy with your purchase, I’m ok with it, somebody else regrets it. We are all right.

Really? Tell us of this magical time- because I’ve been playing games for a fair while and all achievement points have ever been is a way to engender system loyalty by awarding points for nothing more than game completion.

9Dragons. Achievements and titles were given for killing, bosses, completing dungeons, having the high score on certain quests, karma accumulation(aka, pvp kills) and, ofc, the small things. But the titles people really wanted to show-off(and I’m talking sacrificing stat points just to let others know you did smth), required some serious thinking. Hey, for as long as I played that game, I had the lowest lvl char with Conqueror of the North Sea on all servers(and I got it without a finisher which earned me a bonus cookie). In the topic about it even the people who hated my guts didn’t have the nerve to say “meh, it’s nothing”. Because it was something. Because I had achieved something really special. Something I could be proud of. In newer games achievements and titles are either a regular thing(jumping puzzles), a result of staying in your room for a few days without sleep(Tera’s Prime -insert class- for the first one to hit 60 of each class on the server) or a testament of your dedication(the kills with shield).

It’s not the moderators, it’s other players that reported you for having an offensive name. As far as I can tell the list of behaviors that you can be reported for and receive a ban is pretty broad, it just requires another player to find it offensive and report you. One time in an area one player said in map chat “anything up?” referring to events and another player responded with “my dick!”. Right after this three other players started flaming him in map chat for being offensive and said they reported him.

I’d have reported it also. Not because I think it’s offensive, but because it’s a very tired, very crude, very blant “joke”(I guess it was funny the first time smb said it…not any more though). Oh, and smb was actually asking a question about the map and not smb’s pixel-related panty-situation. And I have low tolerance when it comes to childish behaviour.

Aside from that…seriously…? Dumbarse? That reminds me of a Tera guild that made a huge fuss after their name -Japanese animated adult movie- -Western adult movie-stars got changed to Ice-cream Lovers. It’s sad that GW2 mods don’t have that sense of humour xD The Tera guys would’ve probably given you a much better new name… Dumbarse…like, for real?!

I know what you mean. To the letter. But GW2 was meant to cater to certain players. Dpsers(and based on forum posts, the bad ones). And when you want to create a game like that, you gotta dumb it down. Think about other games…what dungeons could you complete without healer/tank(assuming average players, not the cream of the cream)? That’s right, the lower lvl, easier ones. Then they created absolutely artificial difficulty that’s based entirely on luck(think Simin and the 6-ball forced fail, boss-stalkers, mob zergs, 1shot spammable skills). The good thing is, it’s a very casual game. Enjoy what you can and wait for -coughaacough-

I chose movies because I felt that would make a comparison that most of the readers could relate to. I think it’s safe to say that a pretty decent chunk of GW2 players don’t use, nor would enjoy using, a manicure set; so comparing the value of that to GW2 wouldn’t communicate the point I’m trying to make nearly as well as the comparison to the movies.

It’s not about “Movies suck because GW2 is so much better” its “Holy kitten I’m getting a lot for my buck with this game”

Similarly, if you find using a manicure set a particularly euphoric experience, then purchasing said kits would be a good investment for you. This doesn’t lessen the quality of the GW2 experience, or movies, or anything else – just means that if you’re ever faced with deciding to purchase either a movie ticket, a character slot, or a manicure set, you’ll have to make that decision according to your own personal preference. If the manicure kit tops your list – buy it!

Back to quality of entertainment. At $0/hr, that certainly does make them a better deal. Get your hour or two of entertainment out of them, then when you get bored, or sick of seeing “Don’t you wish you could do this/wear that/go there/etc? Just pay $10!” then it’ll probably be time to move on to something else. …possibly something with better quality of entertainment ^^.

My point was(and is) that there is no universal cost vs worth formula. You direct this topic at people who are not satisfied with the product. Telling them “it’s cheap, so you should enjoy it” is like me telling you to buy that red lipstick because it’s only $5 and you can effectively wear it for 100 hours. Would that in any way make purchasing the lipstick worth it for u(assuming you are not into wearing lipstick)? Doubtful. And if smb thinks they didn’t get their money’s worth, no calculations will change that. $0.11/hour is too much if you are not enjoying it.

Isnt that the reset that happens when you pull a mob out of is place?
It gets invunerable and heatlh resets, worse is when this happens and they continue to hit you while he is being reseted.

No. It’s an actual mechanic of that particular fight. The boss will just become invulnerable, spawn small spiders and fill its hp.

of course not.
I have seen this myself though as I’ve killed her quite a few times- we normally just /say kill the babies and people do as soon as they spawn- her health goes up but not by much and she is easy to take down.
It is just a tip- check it out yourself.

I have tried it. Never worked. Killing the spiders or not killing the spiders, the boss always remained invulnerable until it filled the hp. Thus why I asked for a video of that actually working/happening. Kill him…her…it today and fraps it, shouldn’t be all that hard….

I’m forced to disagree with this statement. First of all you can’t compare one type of entertainment with another as they are meant for different purposes. However, you can compare the payment options as a cost factor for the overall entertainment of one activity that is gaming!

Every game that exists, have a “Overall Profit = Entertainment time/Cost ratio”. WoW for example for a lot of players with the current expansions+subscription model has set a very high cost factor and it’s only worth if the game still delivers a lot of entertaining for the players stick to it. However Guild Wars 2, have a cost factor much smaller (as only have to pay expansions). Therefor the Overall profit becomes higher for this game! The longer the time you play this game, the higher the profit will be, and would scale much more than subscription based models (that increases the cost factor every month).

What are you disagreeing with exactly? OP introduced GW2 vs movies, I simply took further.

And f2p games have a $0/hour value. Does that somehow…make them a better deal than GW2?

You are comparing 2 different payment methods. 1 time purchase vs membership. Here you can buy a monthly movie ticket for 18 euro and watch…as many movies as you want in that period. Also, entertainment value is subjective. For you 500h of GW2 might be more fun that 10h of movies. But that doesn’t apply to everybody. I could also argue how GW2 is way to expensive compared to a manicure set(because a manicure set provides 24/7 entertainment for ~$10/month). Does that suddenly mean everybody should start complaining about how GW2 is not worth it? Just because I enjoy my nails more than the game and they are cheaper?

Actually I think this is one of the better bosses, most of the games bosses aren’t soloable at all, Gargantula can be even if it is very very difficult.

The most difficult part of that fight I ever encountered was having to fix my manicure(after 5 min of 1-2-3-4-5 pressing, my finger slipped and a nail broke Q.Q). I could never view endless hp as difficult. Now, if there was a fine mechanic to prevent the healing…as it is right now you basically put your glass cannon shoes on, mash buttons for 10 min and hope your dps is high enough to take it down before the timer ends.

yes, stuff dies faster include bad glass cannon players and the death of these players wipe the whole team.

Because bad survival built players are so awesome to have, right? Glass cannon is a more advanced build than any survival. Always has been and always will be. Bad players are a liability regardless of the build/gear. Always have been and always will be.

No tanks, no healers. Just DPS.

This couldn’t be more wrong, there is no true dps class, and anyone going glass cannon in dungeons is letting their team down, dungeons are as much about staying alive as they are about dps, on any class.

Yet…I often see “LF 3 more xxx, high dps”, but never saw “LF 3 more xxx, high survival”…

Maybe you forgot or missed some discussion about that problem in general. So i give you a certain link to reflect it: http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/11/28/arenanet-guild-wars-2-gear-debate/

Players with legendary items are really upset about devaluing their hard work by these superior stats of ascended items – you may ask them, if you don’t believe. Even if its not worth a tiny difference – so dont bother me with that trivialization. The same way I am disappointed being forced to do fractals when i want to get maxed item, a ring e.g. ArenaNet has introduced that upgrade in attributes and that is a fact. Crude people may ignore these details but I’m alerted for these little ‘political’ differences. It could be understood as affront vs. confident faithful players. My crafting is maxed. so I want to produce a maxed item – not a legendary one – or is that too much demanding?

How about a ring with 10 % magic find (Ascended) while you only can craft one with 7 % (craftable)? What item would you like to take first? Item progression could be accepted if there would be different ways to get it within an appropriate time. I would like to spend some time to advanced crafting level for ascended crafting. But I don’t see any reason for sharing this fractals exclusively – the game is much bigger than this new instance.

I recommend to be more sensitive for the details. Why do you want Legendary weapons (and Exotic Weapons) to be a little bit lower in stats than Ascended? Why do you want item-progression from now on, did you vote for that?

Boa

I asked players with Legendary items. They have no idea what you are talking about. For one, a new ring does not have any effect on how pretty a weapon skin is. For two…how can an outside source devalue your achievement in any way?!

10% mfind vs 7% mfind… Let me see… I run on ~200% mfind when I’m going for that stat…somehow I don’t give a rat’s behind about 6% more or less. I run fotm for the 20 slot bags and the occasional OS(when Bathazar is contested for 2 weeks), the rings are a byproduct(and I have total 6 of them).

Who promised you that you’ll be able to craft every item in the game again? You can craft some items and they keep patching new recipes.

If you would read the dev posts, they do plan on more ways to obtain Ascended gear.

I don’t want that, I just couldn’t care less. They are making it easier to get Ascended by the patch. Soon it’ll be just like exotic. 1 week and you got full set…

Bad players will tell you how awesome it is because in every game they played till now, they just stood and pressed 1-2-3. They find it so awesome because now they press 1-2-3-dodge which is a huge challenge for some. If you are one of them, you’ll love GW2. If on the other hand you happen to be a good player who enjoys strategy and fine skill timing…well, GW2 is very casual with a lot of random things to do and the extremely shallow dungeon system barely gets in the way. Ofc, it could never be a long term game for a pve player with a shred of skill, but it is a nice filler nonetheless. The dungeons will either be very bad fails(because of an uncoordinated pug) or roflstomp mode(in a decent group) because they had to balance them around random group set-ups and account for the possibility of a party with glass cannon builds only. Which resulted in random mechanics, repetitive patterns, high hp/dmg bosses and the currently hardest(popular belief) boss in the game relies solely on luck to beat(how many bubble mobs will you need/have? 1 – you are golden, 5 – you can do it, 6 – stand there and wait for it to reset).

TWMagimay.9057

You start here: http://gw2lfg.com/ with lvl1 fotm. When you complete it, you do lvl 2, then 3 etc. There are daily chests for each tier(1-9, 10-19 etc), you can look up the exact rewards on wiki. Lvl 10 introduces agony which is basically a dot attached to certain boss skills(if you dodge the skill, you also dodge the agony) and you can stock up agony resist to reduce the dmg from it. Oh, the entrance is in south LA, you can go in solo to check out the NPCs in the lobby and their goods. What else…odd levels have 3 parts, even have 4… Oh, yes, you could also wait for the patch that removes the whole “you need to do lvl 1, 2 and 3 in order to do lvl 4”-thing, but if you enjoy progression…and having an idea of what the dungeon is actually about can’t hurt.

No other new gear progression and the only available is 2 rings and a back piece anyway(more to come in the future, hopefully). Oh, and then there are skins.

What anet should do is reduce the physical damage he does with his attacks, but have them cause agony to compensate. The result is the boss is easier than the Arah fight if you have high agony resist, and about the same/harder if you do not. Makes for a nice skill based fight, rather than a gear check like jaw maw.

I’m sorry, did you just say that agony resist = skill and not gear check?

But now, being excluded by this strange new fractal-equip-content, I would like to stop that game and wait for the patch / fixing. It will come somehow … (?) … later. I should wait for the date when all players get acess to these ascended maxed stuff by different ways – other than only fractals.

Yes, you are excluded from doing fotm 15+ by the gear that drops in fotm because you don’t want to run fotm to begin with. What a huge problem that must be for you….facepalm

Getting banned for being kind?

in Account & Technical Support

The price of keeping gold spam down is that occasionally someone that isn’t selling gold gets banned for a couple days until it’s sorted out. In my opinion that’s not too high a price to pay if one in a thousand is innocent and it gets fixed.

Actually, it is a big price. I got the RMT ban for sending 150g to my fiancĂ©. As in, the guy I live with and share an IP with. As a result, I missed out on 2 days of daily rewards(which is actually important to me). And that managed to happen after I’d contacted them about a security issue with my account and informed them that I’ll be sending the gold. Inconveniencing your players to battle bots and gold sellers is not an excuse. It might be the easy way out, but it’s definitely not the best way out. And, no, e-mail restriction, DR, /m limit etc are also in no way justified. The first step would be revamping the cash shop so that buying gold with gems is at least on par with gold sellers(both in terms of desirable items in said cash shop and conversion rates).
