Another thread derailed and killed. Oh the fun
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Adding-a-gear-check-to-the-game/page/4#post4685521
I had some fun in that thread, at least. I’m bored and I have to wait for the dough to be ready, like 30 mins…
You know what really, really bothers me about phiws?I’m not afraid of my gear, even if I know it’s not perfect. I don’t have 3 assassin/zerk pieces or whatever that bullkitten is. Only 3 of my 8 characters are full ascended and my engi still has flame legion runes because I’m a cheap kitten. I don’t have an ascended weapon for every single dungeon out there, I only got 1 set with sigil of force and the other night, or night/force – force/undead. Despite all this, I wouldn’t be afraid to ping. Why? Because I know it’s decent enough, there’s nothing out of place (at least on the chars I play the most!), if I do fractals I make sure I have the right AR, I play with people that want to play with me – with players that are aware of my filthy elitism (or should I say jerkism?).
We don’t invite pugs like today (posting some funny screens later, if I’m not banned) and expect them to be great. I watch them fail, laugh under my breath, maybe make a little comment in chat, but I leave them be. I don’t team up with people that don’t want my toxic elitism.PHIWs, well, they don’t give a kitten about all that. They don’t care if you don’t want them for whatever reason, petty or not, rational or not; they don’t read, they don’t tell, they don’t listen, they don’t care.
They don’t. They just happen to be… there. Uncaring. Unmoving, and no amount of pleas will ever persuade them to help you by being less of a liability – since they don’t listen to any direction and resist any attempt at varying their “playstyle”, even just slightly, even for just that one time.I could go on, but this is what bothers me so much. Carelesness.
If they’re THAT afraid of being kicked in their kittenty gear, how come they don’t change to have a better chance at succeeding in what they plan on doing (farm shinies)? That’s right, they don’t want to; they’re too lazy to bother posting their own lfgs, how am I supposed to expect that they change anything to help me? ME? Ha!
No, obviously, I just have to roll on my douchy, blonde, elitist guardian and carry them by force, kicking and screaming, right? Who cares if I want to play ranger or elly? why would they help me? I got reflects, I got aegis, I got cleanse, I got everything they need to leech off the run, they don’t have to do anything.
Bah.
And then they’re like “gg, that was easy”
Ugh, a tearless sob escaped me.
You need a hug. And I feel your pain.
I pretty much gave up. I thought both sides could support this. As both sides get trolled.
There were a few who saw the potential. Most just saw an end to their gravy train and want to stand there with the I hands over their ears screaming “La la la la”
It was a very sad experience.
I’ve come to the conclusion that most players in GW2 don’t care about how bad they are nor do they have any intention of improving. This applies across all game modes.
The fact that they are ‘dragging everyone else down’ doesn’t register in their minds.
Yeah. I posted this there:
“Anyone who says no to this on the grounds that it would breed “elitism” is a tool who feels entitled to be carried by his or her superiors. That’s all there really is to it.”
If nothing else it has put more names on my kick on sight list.

After Reading some of the replies I got on this thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Adding-a-gear-check-to-the-game/first
I am starting to lose my faith in humanity.
Gearcheck is already a dead horse, just like Cantha, capes, trinity, expansion, nerf zerkers etc.
The best you can do is use that dps meter, no one got banned so far.
Might have to. Thankfully I got my own group. It is just so crazy to see people freaking out like they will never be able to play again. And that we want to invade their groups and kick them. I for one just want to enjoy my game in peace
Why i have the weird feeling after reading the replies that those who don’t agree with the OP didn’t actually read the first post … ?
You and me both
Its always funny on Reddit if people post how nice the community in GW2 is, and the
only persons that cant understand that are dungeon runners. It isn’t just the dungeon runners. I think we can all remember all the threads about the “Fail” Event farming in Cursed Shores or Frostsound, then chest farming int the SW. All MMO’s have issues with their communities. Guild Wars 2 is in no way different. That however isn’t the topic of this thread.
But they stopped things like those special events in CS that lead to “toxic” behaviour.
However they cant just shut down all dungeons .. but they can say : no sorry, but we
don’t invest more time into that cause we never expected it to turn out that way.
Members of the community ask for those changes as well. Just as we do here. Because you do not consider dungeons to be worth the time does not mean there are those of us who do.
Now once again please stay on the thread topic.

I think we can all agree that Meta and Non Meta. “Casual” and “Elitist” Cowboy and Redskin fans don’t get along.
If these two groups can’t/don’t/won’t/aren’t able to work together why can’t we have tools to fix it? LFGs would be less toxic, less kicking and less issues.
If you know you don’t have the right gear/set up you don’t join? You make your own group or look for one with no restrictions.
Is it any more cut and try then that?
After Reading some of the replies I got on this thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Adding-a-gear-check-to-the-game/first
I am starting to lose my faith in humanity.
So I am not an uberplayer, with some coordination and critical thinking issues, and I like to have a mix of valkyrie and knights with all zerk weapons and trinkets so that I have a little more survivability in my build.
This would automatically exclude me because I choose to run a build that helps deal with my personal, unfixable, flaws.
So basically the OP and others like him would exclude me from the game.
Cheers.
No, we would not exclude you from the game. There are many groups, other then the Meta groups. We simply ask that you grant us the same understanding. No one says you can’t find a group. We only ask that if you join ours you meet our requirements. There are plenty of other groups out there, or you could make your own.
Is it so hard for you to understand that we want to play our game a certain way? Just like you want to play your game a certain way?
Cheers
For myself I have four close friends who I run with, however sometimes one or the other can’t make it on. We still have 3 or 4 players and our guild is mostly WvW which means we have to pug the 5th due to shrinking friends list due to lack of content updates. Now we do control the kick power, and we can, even if we prefer not to.
I wish people would step outside their comfort zones. I see complaints that there are alot of Zerker only whatever AP points etc.
If this system was implemented these groups would be hidden. The meta builds are pretty cut and dry. Sites like http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki and others list them and explain them, for those who wish to learn.
If people are afraid of getting kicked from Play How You Want groups because of a gear check Its not the Meta Players “elitist” who are the problem.
Another example of trolling, If I make a “Arah path 4, no Walling Lupi group” And we get up to Lupi and I see the Guard is traited to throw a wall in Lupi’s face it is my right as the group maker to kick before the damage is done.
People on these forms claim to join the wrong groups, I have read people who state they don’t read, or don’t care. Even those who join knowing they don’t meet these requirements.
I don’t like being the bad guy. I simply want the tools to control my game and play the way I want, just like anyone else.
Trolling comes in many types, and happens to both Meta and Non meta players.
(edited by Talyn.3295)
No, because it is a tool for elitism and I personally do not advocate it.
It’s Not a tool of Elitism, it is a tool to prevent trolling of groups. And is in no way required or a player to take part in. I have never understood this argument.
If a player is not joining a group, that they know they don’t meet the requirements for then they should have nothing to fear.
Pretty cut and dry.
First:
1) I want to say that I haven’t liked gear checks in the past, due to how games had gear progression and extremely low drop rates on elite gear.
2) All gear/builds is viable in Guild Wars 2
3) I have no issues with Meta or non Meta players, as I play in both groups. Some of my friends simply have no wish or find it difficult to run meta builds. I feel everyone should be able to play the game how they want.
4) The only group I have issues with are those who do not read or feel LFG descriptions do not apply to them. I feel this group is the core of the problem and my suggestion is to deal with them specifically.
5) I have debated posting this, but due to the amount of Meta Vs Non-Meta threads I have seen lately I feel this will bring a breath of fresh air to the game and avoid further fights over something that really shouldn’t even been an issue.
The Idea:
1) Add a box to the Hero Equipment panel screen. When this box is checked Players can right click and see your gear/runes/traits/etc. There for no action is taken by players who do not want to have their gear inspected. This can be toggled on and off from this screen.
2) If a player doesn’t click this box they can not be inspected.
3) When a Looking For Group post is made box is added to require this gear check box to be clicked in order to see the LFG post. If the player has not opted in they can not see it.
As someone who plays both sides, and who has tested the LFG with many descriptions from Pink armor only to All Welcome to Zerker Only I know which groups take longer to fill and which fill quickly.
I feel this will be helpful to both sides of the Meta vs Non meta simply because it will cause a natural shift. People who only see Meta groups will realize there are many Non-Meta players and will have an easier time finding groups for them, or making their own.
I am however not a programmer and I do not know how difficult this would be to implement. I feel it is worth considering though.
Skritt would be great, but nothing would compare to the awesomeness of a Quaggan thief.
Boo-hoo backstab!
Quaggan’s are so dumb they would end up stabbing themselves.
I remember when I was hyped about GW2. I had been playing a lot of GW1 before the release thinking. Yeah, this is good stuff. If I had know the way lore would be treated before the game actually got released I don’t’ think I would have been willing to buy GW2.
Its Phishing

You won’t get an E-mail.
You will simply not be able to log into the game if your account is blocked or suspended.
Story wise we put a tree up in the house for the kids. I just wish that if anet was going to make special looking Christmas themed accessories that they would make them something we would want to hold on too. After two plus years of this game all 10 of my level 80s are wearing full ascended accessories and the ones play most full ascended armor.
Heh, yeah 80 rares, those won’t last long when the bank space gets short.
(edited by Talyn.3295)
Worst part of it is getting the Major and Minor runes etc. Mostly because I don’t think there are very many people out there who are gonna be like “WOW A MINOR RUNE OF …whatever” I don’t have anything but 80s left at this point.
Was wondering if anyone else noticed this? Or if mine just got to cold and broke
Kinda feel like it should be more like:
10,000 fractals – I spent my life in fractal and only got this crummy title
I agree, all watching those scenes over and over again has done is make me hate caithe more then I already did.
Sad to say to many people where more worried about losing progress if the leader left. In over two years of playing guild wars 2, It only happened to me twice.
I don’t think the change was really needed. But hey.. yeah.
Zerg: La La La Bags
Player A: Humm I remember that spot, necros can fear people off an edge there
Zerg: La La La Bags, La La La Bags
Player A: I better make sure I have a my stability ready.
Zerg: La La La Bags, La La La Bags, La La La Bags,
Player A: I see the wall, (Pops stability, walks through completely immune)
Zerg: La La La Bags, La La La Bags, La La Laaaaahhhhhhh
What killed the people in that zerg? A skill that smart players walked right through with no issues?
Or having no situation awareness of where they are or what they were doing other then “La La La Bags”
We don’t need this game being dumbed down any more.
Its a Learn to play, OP might not like to hear it, but that’s all it is.
Score one for the good guys
Blah, only sub-forum worth reading and we are losing it.
DA:I is $45 on amazon today. Hummmmm….
Totally worth it, been playing it since I piked it up on release at gamestop.
wonder if the Mesmer got kicked?
So yeah, today a guildie wanted to do TA. No one was really on so we plugged it. Luck of the draw we got three guardians. Of course one was the token never put your staff away guy. The other two where at least using sword and greatsword.
We got up to the spider, and I swear to you, not one, not two, but Three wall of Reflections were dropped at once. I died a alot in side, while I watched them try to attack it from behind their walls and not bothering to avoid the red circles.
All and all the run wasn’t as bad as it could have been. We didn’t all die during the spider and the rest of the dungeon was pretty smooth, but I wonder how long it will be before I can do that with a pug guardian and not see a WoR go down.
Rant done
Because its nice to have one legendary that doesn’t have all the silly footprints.
This game failed to beat the trinity, now we suffer the consequences
The people who failed to let go of the old trinity are suffering, the rest of us are having quite alot of fun with the new one.
I find the old trinity boring. GW2’s failed attempt at changing it just happens to be even more so.
When we resort to arguments like “people are stuck to the past”, then that is proof enough how the new failed to convince the playerbase. When something is good, it should be convincing by itself. If people are “failing to let go of the old trinity”, it’s because the new one isn’t convincing enough.
Anyways, there exist a lot of objective arguments that pretty much point out at GW2’s failed attempt of changing the trinity. Defiance, condition stacking, lack of party support mechanics and an archaic stat system fine-tuned for a trinity game in a non-trinity game. Yes, what a masterpiece.
Most of the player base has accepted it that there is no Trinity and like it. There are only a few diehards who think it should be like every over MMO clone from the past.
Defiance needs changed, but this isn’t linked to gear or the traditional trinity,
Conditions are an issue but its tied to shared stacks, if each person had their own stack it wouldn’t be an issue, but that is a whole other thread.
And as far as Lack of party support, you are simply wrong. A zerker meta group has to use support to do what it does correctly. If not able to see this. Well I just feel sorry for you.
Cheers

Anet’s call. But if you want to look in on the discussion, you can find it here.
This thread, Full Zerkers ONLY isn’t even cold in the ground yet, do we really need to be starting another one of these so soon? Suffice to say we will agree to disagree, and let this topic die.
If you check out the Codans and their icebergs with the Asian type housing on them I would think Cantha is still there- Probably has changed very very much and is a desolate ice desert now. Possibly even without any humans left on that continent.
We should send an Asuran expeditionary team over there to get more info.
The asurans are probably already there. They conquered the empire and are having a non stop kegger. With smokes, Really good smokes.
So much wasted potential. Had I known how much of the lore would have been left out, I never would have bought Guild Wars 2. I mean, come on how can we have a game set in the same world and ignore so much of what came before.
Hello everyone.
As the title says, I came back to GW2 after about 13 months now and I really need some things explained.
My Warrior is currently lvl35, waiting outside the entrance to the Ascalonian Catacombs with another 50 or so other players, wondering how to do exploration runs without messing up everything. I didn’t join an exploration run yet, I’m making this topic before doing something that’ll get me hated.
Since I’m a low level how do I choose a fitting group in the group finder? Most groups are lvl80 and have details such as “zerker only”, “exp zerk”, “3k/5k/7k AP zerk” and so on. Could someone, please, explain to me what any of this means?
Thanks!
Zerker is the term for DPS meta that most of us are running.
Exp = Experienced, basking having ran it enough to know which bosses spawn and how to deal with them.
AP is for your total Achievement points. It is just some silly way that people think they can determine skill. Personally I don’t go so much off the AP thing, since I rarely bother to hunt them up myself and I consider myself pretty skilled.
That aside, what you should think about is:
If you want to try the Dungeon at 35: You can do it, but your gonna be in for a little harder time, as opposed if you did it at level 80 with better gear and traits. (I have heard players say that hey will never do a dungeon again, because is so hard. I can only assume most went in at the lower level, but I don’t know for sure)
While it is possible you might run AC at the level your warrior currently is. Its alot less likely if you try to join one of those groups. Because all the ones you are listing here are there for a fast run just to get the gold at the end. (Not a bad thing, but your not quite ready for a speed run yet)
Now you could make your own group listing it as “Un-experienced Player, first try, need some help/Want to have fun” You will find, there will be people who will be happy to join and help you through. And explain how the dungeon works.
If you just want some personal knowledge about the exploreabe paths in the dungeon you can look at the Wiki Site. Or better yet try some of the video and written guilds (gw2dungeons.net) that people have put out. Keep in mind that if your watching a Record speed clear video you might get confused and think that the boss is alot easier then it is, because of how good the team doing the video was.
Path 1 and 3 are the most common in AC, (but I usually try to knock out all three if I can), because the NPC in path two has a tendency to bug out on us now and then.
Hope this helps. And I see this is your first post. Welcome to the forums.
Was thinking back to some of the laughs I had with my guild while we were raiding.
1) I remember back when the “do not touch” LIving story stuff was added, our guild leader took an entire zerg over and did a “3-2-1 Touch!” Just to see us all fly back
2) I remember the first time I saw the zerg lemming off the cliff because we just wanted to see if they would do it…
3) We used to build flaming rams up by the veteran worm to kill it
4) Building a massive amount of Batista and catapults to try and kill the Holy Grub
5) Rush an entire zerg past the Legendary defenders in the boarder lands and having a dance party in the enemy Spawn point (steps only since we couldn’t go very far in)
6) First time I banished a stealthed thief off a cliff with my Guardian.
7) Watching a Guildie doe the Necro Fear wall trick to run an entire enemy zerg off the edge in Edge of the Mist
8) Being part of a Zerg of Plastic spiders during a event Halloween
9) Naked Raiding
10) Chasing a certain Enemy Commander across the map so I could have a screen shot of finishing him with the Bull finisher
11) When me and a buddy both rolled asuran thieves so we could dress alike and mess with people by chain stealthing
12) When we were retaking our Garrison, and the enemy zerg was coming to stop us. I volunteered to charge outside and put them all in combat before they could get to us.
13) It actually worked!
14) Talking to my guild leader on Our Ts, while he was responding on the Server ts, had everyone thinking he was talking to himself
15) Playing Monthy Python songs during a raid on our Cub DJ channel
16) discovering my guild leader doesn’t know his Right from Left <3
17) Playing Peak-a-boo with a Norn guardian from TC while I was scouting one night
18) Watching someone try to ram a wall down
19) Thief tag in the OS
20) The old massive garrison fights before the Bannering the Lord Change
Any moments any one wants to share?
This will fall on deaf ears just like the 100 other posts for guardian shield suggestions…
^
Yup, our classes symbol and all, and ours is the worst shield skills out of the game. Finally just handed my Flameseeker over to my warrior and said to “kitten with it”
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Lost-Coin-Uplands-Oasis-bug/first#post4553110
We have been waiting on that fix for a while now
Back during season 2, My guild lead a push into one of opponents servers. We ended up in a huge lock up fight right outside of the left gate to north camp. They kept trying to push out, and we kept nuking them. Lots and lots of bags. Right before my guild leader finally made the call to pull us back, I was spamming my area loot key… one of the drops was Dusk.
I love my hammer. The only complaint I have with it is skill 5 not the auto attack. It might be as fast as our other weapons, but to me it hits a lot harder. Its all I run in WvW and fractals (well 99% of the time anyway)
We do have a pretty good OCX/SEA presence on T1. I am sure that any of the T1 servers would make a pretty good home for you if you want to have people to fight with or against. Hope to see you on the battlefield.
I like to think I am a pretty well rounded player. I run WvW and sPvP, but have also done enough speed clears and such that I know my way around all the dungeons. Depends on what I feel like at the moment.
End game is different for everyone. Sadly its kinda stale for all of us at the moment. If it wasn’t I don’t think we would have filled up 10 pages going at it here, we would be actually playing the game or doing something else that we enjoy.
The most obvious solution would be to turn base WvW into a RvBvG system like EotM does, although that would definitely upset players for whom server pride is a big issue.
This would be the worst thing Anet could do. There are several reasons why. None of which have to do with Server pride. The biggest ones would be where to fit all the players. You can’t expect to fit all the players from every server into four maps.
So do we add overflows like EoTM? Where no one cares about anything because you never know when your overflow will simply disappear?
And there is no organization because you never know who your allies will be from week too week, so you don’t want to share you TS information to get everyone in the same group.
There are alot of good ideas on how to save WvW. Following the EoTM style isn’t one of them.
The only time I wouldn’t want a skill to go on full cool down is when I interrupt it myself. (IE I start to drop my warbanner and the allies rally) Otherwise I think it would add alot more dept to the game. And we would see more use of interrupt skills.
On a side note. I got to thinking about how the game was before defiance. I remember way back, when I ran AC story with a full guild group. We were all new and inexperienced. But one of us discovered if we threw a rock we could knock down the End boss. We ended up making a circle around him and throwing rocks non stop so he couldn’t stand up. Sure it took forever to beat him, but we were really laughing on TS.
Oh ok, most of my friends are on Fissure of Woe so that means I can’t play with them unless I choose a EU server? (Thanks for correction btw)
Not at this time. Megasevers are either EU or NA. I don’t think Anet has any plans to merge EU and NA. But that is probably for the best right now.
Servers only effect WvW. So if you don’t intend on doing that. (It’s a huge massive PvP base capture defense thing) It doesn’t matter which server you pick, you can still play every other part of the game with people from every server in NA. There are no Oceanic servers. my guild is Oceanic. Most of my guild is from Aussie and NZ.
(edited by Talyn.3295)
Honestly at this point I don’t care. But from previous post from Anet they said they had no intention of adding one. If they will change their mind or not is anyone’s guess.
Easy way to fix this whole problem,
1) Add an inspect option
2) Allow players an option to opt out, if they don’t want it.
3) All for LFG options to insist those who join(or even see) have opted in to ensure they meet description or requirements.
4) “Play how I want” Players will realize that there are more of them out there when they are not just seeing “zerker only” and just joining because they didn’t read or just don’t care.
5) Profits because both sides will naturally split from each other and we won’t have these kinds of threads because both sides will find “like minded” players
Actually I just realized, this dye is already in the game. But its so expensive that only the royalty can afford it. I mean we all know that a certain Queen isn’t really barefoot. She just uses this dye.
