I think we can all agree that the Guardian needs a little help. Its not that we have gotten Nerfed lately. But the combination of those original nerfs when we were considered OP and the recent buffs to some other classes, (Yes I am looking at you Necros) has lead to us starting to get picked off much easier then we should be. I chose to play a guardian because I like being the Tank of my group. However I didn’t realize till after Ieveled my warrior that The guardian hp pool was so freaking low. In any other MMO this would be a bad joke. I would be ok with our lower damage IF we had the HP to stand tall as a tank.
However since Anet wanted to break the mold they tried to make it so that every job could do everything well enough to play. And look what happend. Elementalist lost their flare. I remember nuking the kitten out of stuff in Guild Wars 1. Now the Elementailist is my least favorite. It feels to much like glass and not enough like cannon. My guardian who should be the tanky one isn’t. I am all for equality in the classes.
But if everyone else is getting buffed its about Time the Guardian got a little love too.
This isn’t likely to happen. The main issue with balance in guild wars one was when a player had access to a secondary class. Two skills that seem unrelated but can be super powerful together.
For example. When night fall was released and the Dervish was added we had a class that could put on enchantments, and these enchantments did damaged when they wore off. So no big deal. However with a monk secondary we had a skill that removed all our enchantments and healed us for everyone that was removed.
As a side effect we saw groups of full Dervish/Monks Swarming the HoH stacking up on enchantments then dropping them all at once for huge damage spikes. It was so OP that only other teams of Dervish/monks had a chance. Another unforeseen problem with the secondary class was The IWAY build of the warrior/ranger.
As much as I would love to see it, It would be alot of work for Anet to pull off with little real benefit for us.
With the recent changes I find I have a full set of exotic armor I don’t know what to do with. This set was Fully a magic find set that I used for farming in Orr.
I already have my three primary sets: Knights, Soldiers and Clerics that I use for everything from Dungeons to FoTM. I am trying to determine what stats I should put on this fourth set. Or If I should just scrap it for the materials.
The only stat I really considered was Zerker, or perhaps a combination of Zerker and the new assassin. Any thoughts of a use for this set?
And I am very happy it does “Not” have the footfalls.
Honestly I would like to see guild wars make official use of the combat action mod.
I would like to see the system option to add a cross hair to the center of the screen. Map auto attack to the left mouse button. With a key to toggle in and out of combat mode. I have seen it used and think its really nice. However I am not going to risk my account simply to use it.
I run with Mace/Shield alot of the time. I would like to see Shield 4 tweaked. It is already a great way to add protection, but other wise feels lacking. Anet seems to keep a tight leash on the skills that inflict weakness now that it has been raised in power. Still I would like it to do something along the lines of protection for allies, and a condition on foes. Perhaps
1. vulnerability if weakness would make it to strong.
2. Blind we already have on the focus, but I would not object to getting it here either
3. Daze or Stun, (probably to op)
From what I have heard there is not any updates planned for the Flameseeker. Which I am pretty happy about for the most part. I do feel bad that your not getting that effect though. I would think that it should be treated like the other legendary weapons when thrown.

If you already leveled warrior you could try swapping your gear. just because everyone says Zerker, Zerker….. doesn’t mean you can’t use Knights or Soldiers for extra protection. It is something to consider before level another job.
No. There is nothing cool about quaggans. Let the Krait eat them and be done with it.
There is no use in trying to talk logically with people who feel they have been wronged. They will and do use any excuse to pass blame to others. They see ghost where there are none. I was certain that ascended would be implemented for a long time. I do not mind tossing a few bucks in for crystals. In man hours its gonna be easier then farming gold.
As for the treadmill until they start putting in a new layer of weapons every six months we are not on one.
Geeze people you would think you would be excited to see some new content. I have never seen people QQ as much as I do on these fourms.
And here is a tip. If your so kittened about this go play something else. When you play any other mmo you will know exactly what a gear treadmill is
I would agree. All of mine are 80. I am just gonna leave all 10 scrolls. From birthdaus and the chest set in storage on the off chance I buy another slot. Or anet adds some new jobs
I got my Flameseeker because it did NOT have the effects of he others. I was my choice as I knew in advance it did not. I do not need the effects changed on it now that I went to all the trouble to get it. If you want those effects get a different legendary
It is build dependent. If you are going for a condition build however then you would be better off with carrion or rabid. Which are power vitality condition and power condition toughness. As conditions are not able to crit Precision would not be much use.
I turned the voice off in my game. It is unusal for me as I tend to turn music and sound effects down and the voice up so I do not miss anything. Now however after being on gw I only turn the npc voice on for personal story or living story I have not seen. I hated standing at the bank listing to the two brats spam their “ghost” lines. I would rather they all talked less in town ad out. Until then I will just leave that slider at 0.
While it is not a build I have played much. You might look on youtube for a channel called Tapdatmouse. He has a build shown there that he called the commando. It is his build. but it worked well when I tried it.
if you want more surivablity it is easy enough to tweak the sigils for water or life.
I had to stop by and read this one. Sadly this one is much more fun then ours this week. Every time I see IoJ and DR in a match together the post are great.
See ya all on the battle field.
I honestly do not use this skill often for those reasons. All its really useful for is resetting virtues. The 3 seconds are nice. But since i can not take any other actions….
Hell endure pain is much better. We cant even use this as a finisher like the engi do with their elixer S
I would rather this never be added. I remember the days in guild wars one when I would turn off map chat because people kept spamming. wts this wtb that. And with the fees on the tp i know people will try to get around them by using a personal trading system to do just that. I am happy now with mail and the trading post as it is.
if it only worked on the salvage items and not anything else. even white blue or geen weapons i would be for it
I tend to run with the HOM mace. I think it looks kinda nice with my Flameseeker. However I would love to see more one handed hammers or other spiked bladed maces. I am not very impressed with most of the current ones. And can we get something better in the legendary slot. The moot is a joke
Some had footsteps others did not. You know in advance if they do or not. Presonally i do not like the footsteps. So I picked one that did not have them. I do not need them added now. Not after i went to all the trouble to get a legendary i like that doest have me leaving puddles with every step.
No. I got this legendary because it did not have footsteps like others. I like it just as it is. After all the work I put into it I do not need it changed now.
Yeah i mean i will just portal my friends to the key location. then portal them to the end. Look this does not need fixed. Give it a rest already. Why do you even care?
lol you are kidding right. When Anet put in portal and jps they knew what would happen. It seems like the only people surprised are you so called elites. Well I have done all the jps. I did not find them all fun. but I did them. when I am ask for help. I load up my mes and you know what… I portal them! So get over your elitism. I do not see this changing just to make you feel speical.
The main problem that we face in WvW or any other portion of the game/life in general is the sense of entitlement.
I play this, I own this. I want this. This is mine, not yours. It’s My Way.
It could also be a lack of patience.
I try to enjoy every aspect of Guild Wars. I don’t have alot of time to be spending playing a MMO. As an Active Service Member in the U.S. Military my time is limited, and what free time I do get is usually reserved for other things.
I enjoy Guild Wars 2 and Guild Wars 1, because they didn’t require that I have to play every day. Or Every hour or even every week to be good at them. There was no power-creep. There was a good story, and fun to be had with my Guild Mates.
However, I will be the first to say WvW is not without problems. I could make a long list of things I feel need to be fixed. This list would start with small issues like party bugs and not being able to right click to mail/whisper/invite from my guild/friends list. (giving me only a report option for my friends is silly) all the way up to game breaking bugs like Glitched towers and blatant use of hacks and cheat programs which have yet to be addressed.
However there is a extreme sense of entitlement in the WvW population. Just reading the forums the population comes off as elitist. Remarks such as PvE kittens and Sarcastic remarks about the Living World Content don’t do any favors to win over the rest of the Populations from sPvP or PvE.
If I was a new player reading the garbage that I see here I would be put off WvW in a second. Almost all of it is hate post and sarcasm, in addition to flat out attacks at the development team. I understand that the this is common amongst forums around various MMOs. Maybe it doesn’t help that GW allows for people to buy the game once and we are stuck with them forever, almost as bad as any free to play game which is out on the market.
However, I would like to point out that if you want any one to take seriously “we,” meaning all of us have in WvW. We all need to start start acting a little more like adults and a little less like spoiled children who didn’t get the shiny new toy we wanted this year for Christmas. Lay down on the floor and kick and scream, cry and yell. But when your done throwing your little tantrum the wold will still be the exact way it was before and nothing will have changed for the better.
Lets try to be mature, and lets try to have fun. We don’t need to be any bigger kittens then we already are.
Cheers.
It might just be my preference or perhaps I see nothing wrong with a good defense when it works. But my feelings on this are that the defending team needs the edge more then the offensive does.
So cheers to the team work holding off the larger group. Banners/signets. Use them if you got them.
I would be happy if they would just allow us to have a different set of traits for underwater vs ground combat. I run a heavy symbol build, which is useless in underwater combat.
Get a friend to speed buff you, I was able to use Retreat before I talked to the npc and was keep haste up at the start of the run.
Sadly the majority of the community is going to keep making these post. I think stealth is incredibly powerful. These kinds of post however will not go away no matter how much we try to ignore them or no matter how much we discuss it.
However that said it is hardly unbeatable. I run into two types of thieves on my guardian. Those I kill and those who run away. I have never been ganked by a thief yet. I realize that some of the professions don’t have the armor or survivable of mine so I do feel for them.
The only things I would like to see other then a heartseeker/perma-stealth fix is
1. That numbers would appear if I manage to land an attack. I don’t need to know how much health he has left or his exact location, just something that tells you if your AOE or sword is even swinging in the right direction.
2. A block or missed attack reveals the thief. If my block gets used on my mace/focus because he attacked I feel he should also lose something. What is good for one side and all that….
Don’t blame anet for this one. Blame your fellow players. The Tokens started out as an account bound item. However players saw this an opportunity to exploit the game and create new characters put the 5 tokens we were given from the mail in their bank, then repeat. I am sure that there is a system in place that shows how often new characters are recycled so quickly.
The said truth of the matter is that everytime we are given something, there will be players who attempt to exploit it, and the rest of us simply get to deal with it after.
I am begging here. Please enough with all the knock downs. I don’t find them fun or very entertaining at all. This update with the Queens champs like the Blazing gun were just silly at times. Even with carrying two stability skills and a stun break and dodging as needed I spent the majority of the fight eating dirt. I was never in any danger of losing the or being killed.
I find this feature is more annoying then anything. Having played both Guild Wars 1 and now 2, it seems that the slid bar has fallen way short. I recall some fun and interesting boss fights in GW1 that did not have to rely on knocking my avatar about like a kitten with a ball of string. It doesn’t make me feel very heroic to see my avatar constantly and repeatedly knock around despite the fact I eventually beat the boss/content.
I realize that GW1 and GW2 are different games. Both in the engine and play style, however overall core or them remains the same. Please consider more fights that require us to think and react to objects rather then just giving new bosses the ability to spam knock down skills in one capacity or another. If needed I can list fights from GW1 that were very well done both in theme and quality. I miss these fights and would like to see more like them. I would not even object to more one hit kills,(despite feeling that anything that Kills me in one hit such as a trap should count as fall damage and not break armor). At least with these I feel I accomplished something.
I guess it boils down to risk and reward. Some fights are not worth the time or effort put into them for the rewards we are given. Please, just enough of the knock down spam. There are many creative ways to annoy us with out relying on this crutch.
Is it just me or has anyone else accidentally been sent to the city when they try to loot a chest as there is no confirmation that you want to get in the balloon. Just the Hit “F” to interact?
I have been saying we need a different set of traits for underwater for a while. If Anet would be so kind as to do it like we have different sets for sPvP that would be awesome.
Yeah, I mean I understand the leash aspect. I guess I just want it a little longer. Its just annoying to be actively in a battle with it. Shooting away when It decides. “Oh sorry don’t feel like killing you anymore” and walks away.
I am not sure if this has been brought up previously. I have mostly played Melee so I hadn’t notice this issue before, but while leveling my Engineer (using pistols) I have noticed that mobs tend to reset if I am not careful about how I move while fighting. If I kite back to far while shooting they start running back to their original position, betting that huge health regen. Usually when they reach that spot they then charge right back at me again.
It almost makes me feel like I am being penalized for playing smart and not just letting the mobs beat on me.
