It dosen’t matter how much you QQ over the fact Ascended gear is in the game. Its here to stay and alot of us like it and use it. Just because you refuse to do the work to get it doesn’t mean those who do shouldn’t be able to use it. You have no one to blame for yourself, and before you throw that out again, I dont’ champ farm. I play the game.

It would be nice to have an option to pause buffs that are applied, particularly a birthday or gemstore buffs. There could be a penalty of x amount of minutes for each pause. The reason I make this request is with the Que’s for WvW right now if you are unlucky and get a disconnect shortly after popping a buff then you wasted your money cause odds are you won’t make it back into wvw before your buff wears off. If we could right click and pause them however we might lose a few minutes but the entire buff woudn’t be void cause we spent an hour in LA wait or farming in pve with a wxp booster that was giving us nothing.

Granted running a Ranger is a bit different this time around, I never had much use for this in PvE in guild wars, except for those rare exceptions where npc monks had access to res. However is PvP this still was great.

If We could get something similar Rangers might actually be a welcome addition to WvW, as it stand now, my guild almost never runs with them.

It could be a counter for Banners as well as allow us to pick off a lager zergs numbers a bit. The spirit of course would still be kill-able, so to counter you would just need to spike it down as always.

CC is really only good if we can determine when to use it. If I have to rely on a RNG to decide when I get to chill someone its not gonna fly with me. However, if they wanted to make this trait something useful, they could allow it to provide a chill bonus to our Virtue of Justice along with the fire, so that we could potentially use it every kittens, or pop virtue of justice for a chill. But even as I type this out I don’t even know if I would like that idea.

This isn’t a gear treadmill. I have played games with Gear Treadmills and despite the fact some people call it such, its not. But that is an argument for a different post.

How would this be any different from the current way if your just going to craft them anyway? The good thing about adding this tier is that we saw a way for all those unused crafting materials that were setting around on the Trading post selling for 2 coppers to actually be worth something.

And as for the fine Transmutation stones, that is how Anet makes some of its cash i would not expect a change to come about there.

Anet did this to keep people from using one person to open the explore path and then leaving to allow the group go on without them. This would allow a group of low level fractal runners to move from 20 to 40. Not that I would have a problem with it, but Anet I guess does.

The only solution I would see them agreeing to is to allow the party to stay as long as one person has completed story/current fractal level. Yet I don’t know how hard this would be fore them to program.

The only good thing about this trait is that when it was added the two shield traits got merged into one. I always thought it was funny that they were split into two different traits to start with. As for GH, I think everyone has already listed the problems with it, so there is no reason to beat a dead horse.

To Anet however if you read this. Could you please be so kind as to remove this waste of a trait and place something that might be useful in the slot. I doubt there are many if any Guardians who are taking this.

After More Than A Year - Spirit Weapons

Way back when these were great, before they were given health like everything else. A zerker guardian could spike the kitten out of just about anyone if played right in sPvP. I got bored of that though so I don’t know if they are any good in sPvP now or not. I would think one good AoE and they would be gone, but i could be wrong.

Problem with them in WvW or PvE is that we have so many other better skills that using these with the exception of those rare instances when the shield is useful to block ranged attacks in FoTM, I never bother to put any of them on my skill bar.

Anet needs to rethink these skills all together, the Traits for them are all over the place and they are not that great for anything now. I would be happy enough if they were removed and we got some more meditations/shouts/concentrations. At least then we wouldn’t have four wasted skills slots that almost no one uses.

It doesn’t matter how many times this comes up. The official word was a No. There are more then enough issues with balance, and bugs in this game. For all we know this could be hard coded. And we have a minority of people who constantly complain that they are not able to change their race. I personally hope Anet never implements it. But if they do do it, I hope its a good ways down the road once they have taken time to fix all the other issues that are going on with this game. It would add little to the majority of players, and isn’t worth the amount of time it would take them to re-program everything.

If that podcast doesn’t tell you what they think of the guardians right now, I don’t know what well. I mean if they couldn’t be bothered to even know what skill they were working on why bother thinking they put any effort into thinking of what this class needs to stay competitive.

Lets see:
1. some love for spirit weapons
2. Some soft CC
3. A better ranged option, (honestly less hp then a warrior, and we are stuck with one ranged and they get two nice options depending on play style)
4. Some more passive regen
5. The Zeal Traits
….

This list could go, but I won’t bother as it won’t even be considered. Every time I load up my guardian I feel like my Warrior is laughing at me and singing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3xwDDLuLcY

I would say that odds are most developers are playing this class and I would be surprised if their guardians were just there for show.

I am not opposed to seeing the Shield being more useful in PvE I got the Flameseeker because it was the only legendary I liked the look of. Right now its primary my WvW weapon, which is fine. I love using the shield there. My only problem is that the focus seems a much better option for PvE, but I will not be getting the legendary focus, I do not like how it looks.

I like the system as it is. We don’t need to be using our stamina for blocking. Right now when running a Zerker guardian sword/focus and gs I have a number of blinds and blocks to keep me on my feet as well as dodges. If I have to start using my stamina to block, I am going to be losing out on some of I my defense.

I realize that your wanting to have a complete re-work of the skill. But I don’t see that we need this.

And if the problem is simply that me and My allies are not capable of killing the Warriors defending, I would say the problem is on us. Sure a warrior can move around, but honestly if your not able to keep the Keep Lord Dead in a small area that negates the ability to run you either
1) didn’t have the numbers you thought you had to take the keep
2) Simply got out played by a better group.

I didn’t say it was “ok.” Honestly some variety would be good. I mean come on we got enough flashy glowy kiddy weapons. For myself I would like a nice looking Great Sword like this, with some runes along the blade the glow as a legendary weapon.

My advice would be to not waste your money on a commander tag at all. At this point most servers have more commander tags then you can shake a skritt at, so unless you got a large guild that will follow you, or a good rep on your server odds will be you will play with it for a few days to a week, and get tired of no on following you (if you don’t know how to command already) and you will be setting there in LA with your tag up and nothing to do.

Why play anything besides guardian?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Talyn.3295

Talyn.3295

It is rather interesting to see how man people who actively play the game totally misjudge it. Myself, I am a casual player and I don’t do much PvE, but I have been closely following the discussions around the game since BWE1. One big problem with the game is that most people just focus on one single class (that they play) and are ignorant of the subtleties of the other classes + blindly repeat the myths they hear elsewhere.

The fact is, colesy and others are absolutely right. Guardian sustain DPS > Warrior sustain DPS (in a bully buffed group). Its also easily to explain why most people find it hard to believe. First of all, Guardian is strongly associated with support roles. Secondly, Warrior perceivably hit higher numbers – what people forget is that 42K 100b has a cast time of 3.5s, which results in effective DPS of 12k for 100b only, but you also have to factor in the cooldown. Thirdly, Warriors clearly have higher DPS when played solo or in not min-maxed groups, because Warriors have easy access to offence buffs.

Colesy is also spot-on when talking about zerker gear. However, you must remember that this is about min-maxing! Glass cannon groups are the most efficient in PvE, but this requires very skilled players. Players of average skill (or noobs like me) are better off running defensive builds, which allow more margin for error. Under these circumstances, Warrior DPS will be higher again – simply because Guardian must sacrifice more DPS to get defence.

Tl;DR: indeed, in a properly min-maxed group, with highly skilled player Guardian DPS > Warrior DPS. Most players won’t get there though. Personally, I never cared about min-maxing. I just want to enjoy the game. I play guardian because of cool blue effects. I also play Warrior, because stuns and mobility is fun

This guy says it best I think.

Every body has their own taste and performances. I love my guardian. And depending on how I spec it, I can do alot of different things with it. I can dps or I can survive.

For PvE, I have learned Zerker is probably the best option, if you can play it. Blinds/blocks and dodges will keep you on your feet. If not knights is a good second option. Unless its a world boss, luckly I have several sets from my time in WvW so I can swap out as needed if required.

Guardians can do massive damage, and if you crunch numbers is been proven enough they are higher. But honestly a theoretical number should not make all the die hard warriors cringe. For anyone who hasn’t done the math, which is 90% of the population the Warrior will still be the King of DPS, which is a title it can keep for all I care.

We all need to step back and enjoy the game. When Guild Wars 2 becomes more a job then my real one, its time for me to quit.
