Things that need nerfing to demote zerging.
1. Soldier runes.
2. Condition to boon conversion.
3. Lemongrass
4. Traiting healing rainJust wait and see guild teams fall flat in their face when they can’t abuse supercharged condition removal.
Besides being a bad idea. This would never happen in the condition meta of pvp.
I did not want season one. I did not want season two. I do not want season three.
My problem with seasons is this: Anet made an awesomely unbalanced game mode. And I love it. They let us pretty much do with it as we please. Then for some unknown reason they tried to make seasons which rely on rules and balance.
I regards to this it is a failure and will always be because WvW is not about balance.
Please For the love of all that is holy or unholy no season three.
I can not help but wonder every time i see one of these if the op did not do something to get kicked. It happens all the time for many reasons. Only a few are to sell. I have pugged 49 many times when my team was not on. Never a problem. Sometimes it is not a scam just dead weight the group decided to cut.

New races… YES. But with a gemstore added race change option (make it 800 gems or something like that). New Races I want to see
- Skritt
- Centaur
- Tengu
- Quaggan (everyone would race change into one btw… you want some money ANET?)
- Hylek
Race change rules:
You must have finished your personal story up to the point where you joined an order, then you can use the gemstore bought item to change the race of your character. Your previous home and personal story will remain the same (if you started as Charr and change to Human, your still have your home in the Black Citadel).New Faction options… yes.
Gain the ability to join an enemy faction such as:
- Inquest
- Nightmare court
- Bandits
- Blood Legion
- Aetherblades, Toxic Court (etc).
New Factions mean new WvW based on the open world maps. Could you imagine that whole centaur campaign in Harathi but with players on the human and centaur side?
New classes: maybe. Depends on how they pull em off. I’d take these:
- Ritualist: From GW1. Specializes in spirits and communing with similar play style to their GW1 counterpart. Soft armor class. Elite skill sample: Lively was naomi: While carried applies fury and might. When dropped revives nearby allies or NPCs. (basically if you down while carrying it you’ll get revived by it).
- Dervish: Like the GW1 counterpart specializes in melee AOE and boons. Can strip own boons to provide effects (strip might to do strong AOE damage, regen to do aoe healing, etc). Heavy armor class. Elite skill sample: Kormir’s balance- Remove All conditions and boons from nearby allies an enemies. For each condition or boon removed deal 300 damage to nearby targets (5 targets max).
- Bard: New for GW2; Play songs to create boons, cause conditions, and summon animals, demons to attack for you. Your guitar also serves as a battleaxe. Elite Skill example – Rodgort’s Invocation: rip an epic guitar solo to summon Rodgort to fight for you. While Rodgort is alive you can rip more solos to command him. You and Rodgort gain stability.
Not everyone likes quaggans. I hate them and would never play one. The more anet pushes them the more i hate them.
Edit: I would support the addition of any race profession or option that lets me kill them.

I can understand why this would be wanted on a Necro. Play a necro in sPvP and my guardian in WvW.
However as much as I understand why it is wanted. I don’t feel that it is a good change. The necro may not not have vigor, blocks or invulns but it has a lot of HP, and can be traited to be extremely tanky, (as mine is).
Look at its counter the guardian, who has alot of boons, blocks and arguably vigor. Guardians have one of the smallest hp pool while Necros have one of the largest. It is a question of balance.
However giving it a stunbreaker feature I don’t feel would be to out of balance.
I loaded up Guild Wars 1 last night and went back through my old Guild Hall again. I could still remember some of the figures my guild had there during the first game.
Another option for PvP that I miss greatly was the Hall of Heroes. This feature alone kept me playing Guild Wars for a long, long time. The amount of variety and fun we had during these matches were unbelievable.
sPvP and WvW are nice, and I would not want these features removed. But sometimes I miss what we had in the first game.
I think adding these two features will add a lot to the game.
Subjectivity aside.
It is not hard to know which legendarily weapons have which effects before the weapon is made. If someone makes one without doing research on it, that is on them.
I chose this one because I liked it the way it is. It took my time and my money to make it. We don’t need this changed now, so long after many of us made it, when the fact there were no flashy effects was a major factor.
The Flameseeker is perfect. Just as Anet said it was months ago when they put out the new legendary weapon effects. I expect it to stay this way.

Just letting us salvage vendor items would be a plus. Its rather silly that things bought bought with Karma, WvW badges and gold from vendors refuse to be salvaged. I saw the reason behind this at the time, but I think we have moved passed the need for it. Karma isn’t as plentiful as it was, (although I still got 9 million and very little to spend it on)
There is no reason not to break down the old gear we don’t need now that we have ascended. Before we had to transmute the armor over it. Now just making it skins or something would at least give us something
I would support it. I liked the old trait system better then what we have now. Seems to take longer to click, select yes that I know I am spending points, then go and scroll for the traits I want. Saving builds for simple clicks would be a welcome addition to the game, much like it was in GW1
I made this legendary because it didn’t have all the stupid footprints. I have more then enough currently to make a second or even a third. However since all the other “legendarily weapons” look like toys from Toy R’ Us I haven’t. I will wait until Anet makes something desirable.

I don’t want to give up hope that there might be some kind of word on what is happening with this. I mean the reason we play or watch a sequel is to see what has changed over time.
I wouldn’t want to pick up a sequel of a book set in the same world and the author never mentions any of the places from the first. If this was the case why not just make a whole new world and be done with it?
There is lore and history here. And I would like to know what it is and to actually walk through the petrified forest again, or look at the jade sea.

WvW is not about loot. PvE is that way.
WvW is about fights. If they do something silly like only droping rares or more then average loot we would see an influx of loot farmers. I do not like the idea of losing a T3 structure because people would rather farm then play.
You must be new. WvW is always your server vs them. Even when map polotics put you on the same side. It nevet last and is still likely to get you hit hard by a 2v1. That said match up threads are not allowed. I expect this to be locked soon.

That RNG will get ya every time. Best thing to do is just not stress it. People will beat their heads on the screen. Farming for hours and hours for some shiny pixels. I made a couple, but that is only cause I have been around so long there isn’t much in this game I still care about.
I still like my Fractal skins better by far.
Do what you enjoy and let what happens happen. Like last week some nice Norn Warrior from TC dropped Dusk for me, during a farming session at their north camp. I want to thank him and the guy who bought it off the trading post. You are both Scholars and gentlemen. The later of which wasted waaaaayyy to much money.

I already had to overwrite two traveler runes because of the nerf to boon duration and the fact I can’t salvage WvW armor. Wonderful how these things get through through. 10 gold was only 93 gems as opposed to 250 for a single extractor.

Please don’t take this the wrong way. If you are in leadership, it might not be wise to have this type of sentiment published. Casuals and pve folks make up for a huge chunk (as much as 50% – 60%). I’ve witnessed 1st hand wvw emptying out because of these type of sentiments.

True enough, I only speak for myself.
I do respect those players that come into WvW who are not part of any WvW guild and fight with us every night. I respect them alot, because I know what it is like.
Those players are great and make up a large portion of our militia it would be near impossible to do anything most nights in my guild’s time zone without them. I want them on TS and I want more of them. As many as we can get, WvW guilds might be out every night but are smaller in number.
However for players who just bandwagon to get enough credit for their chest then we never see them again. Those players I can do without.

I was bsing with my guild last tight and we got to talking about how annoying light fields are. And I was like “You know, if I could get one new Grandmaster trait it would be to convert all our light fields to Fire field.”

This is a Warrior we are talking about… warriors need mobility. Otherwise they could just be kited into oblivion. That was part of the class design. Greatsword warriors have nothing but mobility, but mobility counts for exactly what in pvp? Sword + warhorn is the most mobile spec warriors have, except that they can kitten near immune to conditions. So at the cost of damage they have much better sustain.
But why should a Greatsword warrior be forced to use axe or hammer for damage. Greatsword has no sustain, horrible damage, at the cost of mobility thats part of the class design?
Greatsword received way to many nerfs, and no compensation before the condition meta.
Should thief or mesmer have their damaged nerfed to kitten as well?.. Mesmers have clones, stealth and mobility. How is a greatsword warrior supposed to compete?
I have to laugh at this. When guardians complain we can’t stay on a target we are told to suck it up. But warriors who have no trouble due to large amounts of charges and cripples, on most of their weapons, and stuns as well are still complaining about be kited?

Warriors already have great ways to stay on their target. They can cripple with many weapons and they have several charge attacks both on their weapons and through utility. So if you can’t stick to your target that is a L2P issue.
Right now Greatsword has great mobility. Its attack is decent. Your complaint is that you can’t just camp it, and that more attack power comes from other weapons like ax? That is the trade off. You can’t have everything on one weapon or no one would ever use another weapon.
If you want Greatsword to have more attack power it has to lose some mobility. That is the trade off.
Greatsword is fine. So is guardian.

We try to not have any one scout for more then at Tick or Two at the most. Even then there are members of my guild who would stay in there all night if we let them.
Problem rewards are not easily answered. WvW is balanced very thinly. PvE is were the money is. I can make more in a few hours in pve then a full night in WvW.
We don’t want to good of rewards because that would just lead to farmers in wvw.
Still something needs to be done.

I had toyed with the suggestion of a 4th virtue that would give us a small increase to our attack speed, but could be activated for a decent buff to the party.
Figured it could help out with our weapons like hammer or mace. Or even increase the DPS of a glass cannon Sword/focus.
However I gave up on this because I figured it might be to overpowered.

Only if we can remove all PvE requirements for those of us who only do WvW, then I’d gladly agree.
If you feel you dont have to spend time in WvW, then I feel I dont have to spend time in dungeons, doing mind-numbing PvE map complete or any of the other boring PvE stuff.
Honestly, in most cases, if people started WvW maps back when they started everything else for Legendary, I guarantee that WvW maps would have been done long before other stuff.

No, that isn’t the word at all. I am at least honest about my intentions, and if they are selfish or not. I won’t claim any moral high ground. You say you want want is good for wvw or a healthier one, however you want to make a choice for us. You don’t represent the whole community.
There are people who made choices, you want to un-make those. By telling us we have to play your way. And you are telling us its the best way. I will agree with Deli above me winning does come up a bit to much on your post. But I won’t say that is your only reason.
There are three groups of people on here. Those who move to big servers for bigger fights and those who move to smaller ones for smaller fights. And those who want there cake and eat it too. What you want is to tell them all they need to play your way. Which they don’t need to. Servers are fine. We don’t need any changes, and I am willing to be most of us don’t want them either.
You’re still not getting the idea at all. We implement a system that incorporates the communities we currently have and even give room for new communities to appear, all while balancing out the populations. This could incorporate new map rulesets, like a lower population roamer map, GvG match maps, etc. Things that try to cover all aspects of what people enjoy in WvW so that most people are covered.
As for winning coming up. I AM FROM BLACKGATE, I’ve won plenty. This isn’t some rant from a person on a lower server that doesn’t win matches. The point is that WvW is a competition and a lot of the fun in a competition is the fair chance at winning. The problem with the current system is that the population/coverage differences are so big that from match to match you either stomp the enemy or get your face pushed in. I love good close matchups win or lose, I don’t enjoy winning by a huge margin and no one enjoys losing by a large margin. I’m sure a lot of people would agree with me there. The game needs a system that brings close matchups back.
My vote is towards greater good of everyone by trying to find a new system that pleases the majority. Your vote is to stomp around saying “NO” and sticking your head in the sand while ignoring the problems. The mere fact that you cannot recognize there are major problems is baffling, have you not read the WvW forums for the past year? I guess if things are fine on Blackgate though then it’s fine for everyone…
I don’t care what sever you are from. You just don’t listen. Can’t you read all the people posting from almost every server, maybe not on this thread, because by this point most of the community is sick of people trying to change our game to something they want. But on threads like this. Overall they don’t want this kind of change.
I can tell people what I do for them is for the greater good all day. But it doesn’t make it any more true. They don’t want to have some random color. If in doubt look around a little bit here on he forms. Open your eyes, its not just the big servers who would oppose this. If you can’t understand this I just feel sorry for you. So… buy the GF the game and go to switch servers to play on Black Gate instead of Anil Rock. Can’t create characters there… only option is to transfer existing characters? At 2,400 gems? That’s $35 bucks. Did I miss something?
Sadly that is the case. You can only have one home sever at a time. You could delete all characters and move for free, but I wouldn’t suggest this option.
Last night was fun NOCvision, maybe a lil more fun for us ;-)

This from a player on an overpopulated – wait I mean high coverage and overpopulated – server fighting against 2 other overpopulated & high coverage servers most of the time…you are right, you don’t need any changes. It is the low populated servers fighting against imbalanced overpopulated servers that need a change.
I suppose league season is a bit refreshing for you when you can go round and roflstomp for a while too.
Funny how you only pick the that one part. There are plenty of people on low population severs who don’t want this.
I hate saying this, but sometimes i think the people who complain the most are just to cheap to buy the gems to move. Assumption?

Actually the only other repeatable achievement I can think of is the Salvage one, and guess what? It is capped.
Also keep in mind that no one is even close to hitting the cap yet, so it is not really that much of an issue.
How close someone is to hitting the cap is immaterial. Eventually, the cap will be hit, and the point behind having dailies in the first place vanishes.
I do dailies for Laurels… not achievement points.
You also have a small chance to get free black lion store items.You get more than just achievement points, being a bit overdramatic there.

Everything that was a world boss was mindless. We have some now that are not. And sadly they require a good amount of teamwork and timing. I am in no way opposed to this kind of fight. However, I don’t like to have to depend on 30+ random pugs to get timing down. I don’t want the temples to turn into the next Teq. I wouldn’t mind however if this was instanced. But that isn’t likely to happen.

If other sets get a stat increase I would think that zerkers should get their stats back to where they belong. Its not the gear that is the problem. It is peoples attitudes and mob AI.

Same story, it’s a case of all zerkers kill it as quickly as possible, anything goes wrong and someone dies here comes the rage fest, others are to blame because they aren’t doing it fast enough, “the enemy was allowed time to kill us! How dare they?!”In a trinity MMO 92% of the players go for DPS, 7% tank, 1% heal.
In a game like GW2 DPS didn’t need to be over the top, players already love to play a damage class even if they’re heavily dependant, but thanks to way crit damage works in GW2 playing anything else just looks silly.This is my experience with MMOs as well. I have played games with heavy trinities and those without trinities, and its always a DPS game. The DPS players will also always be the vocal majority, always going on about how their class isn’t balanced, doesn’t do enough damage or gets killed too easy in PvP.
The reason people hate trinities so much is having to form balanced groups of DPS, tank and healers because finding enough of each (especially healers) is a huge pain and can have a waiting time of hours. Think about that.
It all boils down to DPS, DPS, DPS, in every single game. Thats why many games even have the DPS of the weapon listed right on it instead of damage.
Guild Wars 2 just takes it to the farthest extent: zerk meta is all there is.

I read it. But that doesn’t even begin to account for all the other ideas that “people who want WvW not [to] be server based” have produced. That’s a whole different ball game.
Let me add that in general I’m all in favor of using EotM as a guinea pig for new WvW mechanics, and I’ve encouraged a.net to do so in several other posts. Although to be fair, if EotM is to be “fixed” to become an accurate reflection of WvW under the right circumstances, it would require a lot of revamping – so much so that I doubt it would be a viable process. WvW is already much closer to what I want the final product to look like than EotM, and that’s what I signed up to play anyhow.
And many people in general do not want any part of EoTM in WvW, and frequently encourage Anet to leave it where it is.

Sever pride is one of the few things that keep people playing this game. Color Pride isn’t gonna do it.

Communities absorb members who fit into them. They do not absorb other communities. The idea that everyone gets forced to play an EoTM style of of game is communities forced together. I don’t think the people who move down to play on the lower servers would enjoy getting mushed in with us any more then we would want them here. People choose were they want to play. That is part of the freedom of choice. We do not need Anet or anyone else to come here and say. Ok, as of right now everyone on Darkhave you are part of Blackgate. Every one on Gate of Madness you are part of Jade Quary. All four servers involved would be upset.

Again, communities absorb members. You pick a community that has a similar outlook on things. SoR was a good example of two separate communities who were lumped together and wanted different things. One half wanted to just play for fights and when they were given EoTM they took it. Leaving the rest to sink or swim as they best they could. I do not want to see what happened to them happen to any other server.
Server based WvW works. It has worked and I don’t see anything changing it. WvW players as a whole are very picky about there game mode. If anyone puts plans in that will upset what has been built it will meet alot of resistance. If you can not accpet that people do not want EoTM game style in WvW I feel you are missing the point entirely.

Okay…so why not have it guild and player based (for those without guilds)? Positions could be determined by guild count/activity, and current point status of each color. Voice communication would primarily be guild based, but many guilds already tend to use their own channels for WvW rather than public ones, so it wouldn’t be much of a change.
I’m merely providing ideas to balance out gameplay. Sometimes “terrible ideas” can evolve into good ideas with enough feedback and ingenuity.
Sorry, but some ideas will always be bad. I get it that the lower tiers are asking for something more. But you can’t expect to destroy communities like we have built of players and guilds and not run in to very stiff opposition. If Anet were to decide to go with your idea that would happen. And once you start messing with something like that players will leave. If you have any doubt look at the Discussion fourms with the Roleplayers and the WvW community is even harder to please.
You know, this thing about destroying communties and such coming from established, decently populated servers is hypocritical. What is happening here is that the lower tiered, lower population server communities are being destroyed. Think about that. Or does it even matter to you – the needs and wants of the many outweigh those of the few? Democracy at it’s best?
To be fair, it isn’t the well-balanced servers’ fault, it is ANet’s. They have done very little to rectify server imbalances in WvWvW. Some sort of server merger between the lower tiered servers has to happen otherwise ANet could lose more servers and players, with players not bothering to play anymore than from a server merge.
Call me selfish if you want. But I honestly don’t care.
Everyone in the lower tiers knows exactly how this game is played. If they want to be part of a bigger community they only need to move up. There were many people that did this during the free transfers. HoD got a lot of them. And for those players I am happy.
WvW is dog eat dog. There is nothing balanced about it, and that is why I love it. I fought like crazy the other night when I score dipped. And yesterday my server re-rallied to lift the score back up.
If your community can’t survive its not only the top servers fault. Some of time time its because there is no effort to make a community. Ask yourself why they left the server? Was the community even there? Everyone has to be accountable for there own actions.
Not everyone started at the top of T1 some of us had to work our way up, fight by fight.
The suggestion to break apart what as be built simply because others are not able to build up the same is selfish in and of itself. I don’t know when it happened but these days working hard and being successful seems to be something to be ashamed up not celebrated.
I will never support anything other then letting players move where they want to move by there own choice.
Once again. This game does not need to reward bad offense. If you can not kill the player you did not deserve the cap. It is as simple as that. Anet has already said as much. Complaining will not help.
Actually they’ve said just the opposite – that they definitely intend to look at bannering.
A recent development, last I had heard there was no plan to change it. But sure lets nerf this defense right along with the Door treb so that WvW becomes one great big karma train. Then when every one quits at least you can get your karma from capping the keeps no one bothers to upgrade or defend.

If other sets get a stat increase I would think that zerkers should get their stats back to where they belong. Its not the gear that is the problem. It is peoples attitudes and mob AI.
As neither one of these will change. I do not see the zerker meta changing. I also don’t see efficient game play as a problem.
I can’t see anything changing it from a never ending Karma train. I only mess around there if we have a que. Thankfully for my timezone that isn’t really an issue.
WvW wasn’t built to be about single players. I realize alot of people like to roam or to duel there. And due to many factors it is gonna be imbalanced. Doesn’t matter if its Bloodlust, or guardstacks or weapon stacks, and food, etc.
When you run across that other player you don’t know what kind of gear they are running. It could be an uplevel. It might be someone in ascended a new 80 wearing all greens and blues. It happens.
The imbalance goes both ways. I learned a while ago not to take it personally. On my thief I enjoy it.
But on my guardian since we can’t respec on the fly yet and I am ask to cap blood lust I end up running into the Ruins with a support build.
Granted I am extremely hard to kill, but I do next to no damage. I have to rely on my hammer or shield to control people who try to cap my node.
WvW will never be fair and balanced. But that is exactly why I enjoy it so much.
Guild wars one had a lot of lore. It had a lot of unique and interesting areas. Given how much time has passed since we got to explore Cantha or Elona I would there there would be alot of changes in those areas. For those who say that the problem would exisit with creating new characters in that area as there were no char in Elona or Cantha we don’t really need to be making new toons in the expansion. I for one already have 10 at eighty. Plus two at 20 that use to do jumping puzzles.
We don’t have to follow the old format. Which at the time Anet did because the people getting factions were not guaranteed to have owned Prophecies.

Guardians are fantastic for everything.
- For sPvP, they’ve been the classic midpoint bunker since launch, IIRC
- For WvW, they provide vital walls and blast finishers
- For PvE, they’re not shabby on the DPS, and they have great group support optionsMesmers are good for PvE and vital for WvW, but not so good for sPvP as I understand
Necromancers are nothing special in most gamemodes, probably one of the more middle-of-the-road classes. If you enjoy how they play, though, don’t let that stop you.I’ll probably stick with the guard for now then. I have a weird need for being wanted in these games, lol. You could do alot worse then picking Guardian as your main. There are small problems with the class but you won’t have to worry about parties in pve and you an fill some petty key rolls in a PvP (or WvW group once you get yourself to 80.)
If you chose to run a zker guardian for PvE you can kill almost as fast as a warrior but you still got to be on your toes the whole time to avoid getting nailed.
If you agree or not you agree with where HP Pools are right now, I doubt very much Anet is going to be making changes to any of them. This is something we as players are just gonna have to adapt to and roll with like we have for the past year and half.
