F – uninstall the game and go play a more holy combat trinity focused one

Although I have to agree on your first point, Anet should remove the option to see the amount of achievement points someone has accumulated, since it has nothing to do with dungeons themselves.
But somehow most people still think it’s a relevant scale for someone’s skill….

Its pretty simple. You dont need to be told how to play suboptimally and safe. Thats easy. However people misinterpret the advice given on optimal play as the only method. Then again if people are stupid enough to misinterpret it like that then they deserve to stew in their own ignorance.

That kinda makes a up a very large part of the community doesn’kitten I mean alot of people run builds they read about without really knowing why. Or they throw alot of crazy stuff on their bar and think they are unique.

There is alot of ignorance going around in game. I always read up or pay attention to new Meta builds as they are introduced, yet I realize that each encounter won’t call for everything that a Meta build can do. Certain traits/skills can be swapped out to make a fight easier.

I think the real issue is that people don’t learn how to play their classes. This could be anets fault for not making people grasp them better, they just read a guild pick the traits mentioned the skills listed and call it a day, thinking just because they have on X armor or X traits they are OP even without doing the proper rotations or using the right skills.

Can’t count the number of staff guardians who have joined me when I pugged, wearing “Zerker” armor, no WoR, and making sure to empower just after we blast 25 stacks of might so that the duration gets cut in half.

Gonna be funny when they realize that they are digging their own graves.

I’ve done a few dungeon runs, some successful and some not. I’ve heard a fair number of complaints, mostly on the forums, and it would be easy to say that “everybody thinks the dungeons are too hard.”

I don’t think that’s accurate. I think there are hundreds of thousands of players who are quite happily playing the dungeons as they are. And because they’re happy, they don’t feel the need to come the forums and mention it. They’re too busy having fun. The reason the majority of the posts about dungeons are complaints, is because people who are unhappy are more likely to complain about it.

The dungeons are great the way they are. You should never be assured that you will clear a dungeon when you set foot inside it. It should always be a challenge. If there’s no risk of failure, then there’s no joy in success.

Don’t bow to the pressure, Anet. The dungeons are great.

But they are to hard. We need a full healer class. I hear rumors that this Rev class could be awesome at healing. And then they won’t be so hard anymore.

Seriously?
… like, seriously?

Granted, highly unlikely though it might be, Anet might actually do something.

But we are gonna tear into the Rev here anyway. My point was that White Knighting the class doesn’t help us out, the only way anet ever listens to us, is if we lay down on the floor. Kick. Scream. Stomp our feet. And yell at the top of our lungs loud and long enough.

Granted, most of us don’t care enough to do that anymore.

What makes a class do good damage? Its a combination of 3 specialisations and choice of decent weapons. But even the alternative weapons do competative dps to a certain degree.

Sorry but i dont really see how 1 specialisation and 1 choice of weapon set can save the class. Necromancer already suffers from a major lack of damage modifier traits. Revenant looks like its going to suffer from that issue along side terrible base weapon damage.

This was my thoughts exactly. One specialization alone won’t allow for enough. Anet does betas so that we might give feedback on how we feel on things before they are released. If we don’t talk about the issues with have with the Revenant class nothing will change. We can set around here all day saying “Oh you guys need to wait” or “Don’t knock” this or that, but the fact is from what we have seen the Rev is very gimmicky and very underwhelming in the dps department.

Now is our chance to give feed back when Anet might actually listen and improve, once HoT launches the chances of Anet making huge changes to the class are not very likely.

I for one don’t want to see people saying “oh just wait” then once we have waited we get one trait line that offers any kinda dps support and everyone suddenly is up in arms doing the “How could anet let this happen.” The ball is in our court now, if we are going to have any real say, now is the time.

They took like no time at all if you did them on every release. It was new content. It seemed like a waste not to do it.

I couldn’t bring myself to do it on each of them /shrug.

They are actually quite fun challenges. I’m impressed at how they manage to make it do-able in a noob way (camping range) and raging difficult in a leet’s way (do all achievements at once plus melee man-mode). I like them

Aside from that Jumping Achievement. KITTEN IT!

All nice and hidden behind 10 minutes of clicking through story text >.<, that was my problem not most of the achievements themselves. Plus having to do them on the second run through not being available on the first.

This was my problem with them as well. Made the updates seem padded because we had to play through it a second time to unlock the rewards.

So I was running CoE last night, it was near the end of our dungeon tour. Started with AC and working out way through.

Mostly a guild group, 4 of us. We picked up a PuG warrior, the cool kind that you like to keep with you from one dungeon to the next. We had ran path 1 and 2 with no problems . No downs, no deaths. Our ele and engi are doing a great job, stacking our might before we charge in, bursting down pretty much every boss, etc.

Nice casual sort of run where we were laughing and talking or what not.

Path 3 our Engi has to go, so we decide to open up the run for an extra pug. We were all running our zerker gear. So my guild mate decides to put in his post, “Zerker/Meta”

I ask why he felt the need to add Meta anyway. He said to keep us from getting something crazy like a staff guard.

We had just finished or started the 1st alpha fight, can’t really remember, when another Engi joins us. Though cool, nice to get a replacement. First and only words from this engi is “foods”

I look at my bar, and sure enough, my food buff had worn off. So being the troll I am I whip out my birthday blaster and have some cake. Our new Engi had taken off before the rest of us, and having ran ahead was the first one into the golem room past the stairs. No, biggie the rest of us came in a bit later and blasted them down, no deaths.

Jumping part wasn’t hard, but our warrior DCed leaving us with 3 on the far side and only 1 on the left. Our new engi made sure to send a sigh, as if this had been planned. We waited for our warrior to come back at the top of the stairs smashed the golem there, then ran into the next room for the turret defense.

Party chat says something like “I am gonna go.” then our new engi was gone.

We went ahead and four maned the rest of path 3. But none of us were quite sure if we imagined that engi or not..

Now I feel bad for not jumping in to help ya’ll last night lol

Don’t feel to bad about it, we all had a good laugh about it.

You had just touched the door of a tryhard unharmed. Welcome back!

Thanks, with any kind of luck I won’t be ringing that doorbell again anytime soon. Was his loss, the whole path really didn’t take that long.

So, how it is full burning damage for PvE?

in Guardian

Posted by: Talyn.3295

Talyn.3295

I have a screen somewhere one moment.

20 stacks of burning

- Without Superior Sigil of Smoldering.
- Without Superior Rune of Balthazar. I have Superior Runes of Melandru in this armour and they are too expensive to replace them for this test only.
- Beigarth’s Gear (Knight).
- I have less than 500 Condition Damage there (signet + 10% of Power was converted into Condition Damage).

I know that this dmg is nothing to “things” Ele can do with fire, but I wanted to show that it is possible to stack burning up to 20 ALONE.

Sure you can get high burn numbers. And it will kill. But its far from optional.

1. Ramp up time.

2. The loss of support utilities also hurts the group.

3. Burning Nerf might be incoming.

Until this whole miss with conditions gets sorted out. I would stick with power builds.

“3. Burning Nerf might be incoming.”

This pretty much is contradictory to your argument. If its not at least optimal, then why would it be considered for a nerf? Also, the ramp up time doesnt take long at all between scepter 2, torch 5, zealot’s flame proc, gs 2, and gs 4 and … well you get the point.

As described in my above post, you do enough damage on trash for it to not matter between zerk and condi/zerk. But, if run into a few elites, champ, or boss, your burn / other condi damage shine. Literally, take any hit you have (which is already massive, my torch 4 will hit for 6.5k without a group cohesively might stacking) and add a flat 3k to it.. Thats INSANE.

Additionally, i still run “Stand Your Ground” and “Retreat!” for utility, not counting my f1-3 boon procs.

Because we are not the only class that uses burning for condition damage.

The math has already show the difference between direct damage very condition damage for guardians. Fact is: Guardians deal more damage with direct damage.

Unless you front load your conditions, which we can’t do, there is still a ramp up time. If done right a boss will die faster to direct damage before you get enough stacks to matter.

The OP asked about exploration and dungeons. not just dungeons, so Zerker may be marginally better in dungeons because of the low hp pools, but condi is far superior in world content. This, to me, makes the decision kind of clear atm. Also, i would like to know what gear was used in regards to the math that was done. Im currently using Zerker gear + condi runes.

its really not a joke when i say that i hit HARD and it seems like the extra 3k ticks are just bonus damage that i otherwise wouldnt have had.

Sinister was the gear used for testing, as it is the most damaging condi gear. And it’s about 14% better without the use of Unscathed Contender. Higher damage if you can keep UC up for most of the fight.

Any build can hit hard, I find zerker works best on my guardian in all game modes from wvw roaming to spvp and both open world and dungeons. Others have different experiences, and that is fine. I however don’t like to pack around an entire armor chest all time, so I use the one gear that works well in all.

1. What were the meetings like when they decided F&F dungeon and Aetherblade Retreat would be temporary content? I’m 100% sure Hrouda was in favor, and probably argued it quite hard, of it being permanent content. I’m guessing things got heated and I would love to know the people who overruled him, what their idea was and what the envisioned the results would be.

Mmhmm:

Robert Hrouda

Today marks the release of the last bit of content I built for ArenaNet. I had always hoped my last hurrah would be an epic dungeon that would stand the test of time, and provide entertainment for players to the very end… but instead it’s an instance that will only persist for two weeks, and then go away.

(From his facebook. Can’t link it here, but google will turn it up pretty quick).

He seemed pretty on the ball as far as what we were looking for, and more importantly, he was willing to talk with us and find out for sure. When ArenaNet votekicked him was a significant turning point for this game, especially as they never bothered to replace him.

Those must have been interesting meetings for sure.

It sucked that the dungeon was removed. But the fact I enjoy playing though it so much during fractal runs shows that he had a pretty good idea of what it was that we wanted. Or I guess I should say, he had a pretty good idea about what “I” wanted.

Yep, I did it for test and I also can’t “approve” this build as a good one. It’s all a spike burning. It’s almost imposible to maintain it and the best option for Dungeons/Fractals are power builds with a little dose of burning (maybe torch; depends on variation).

But it is fun to see those numbers in PvE after all.

The numbers were very impressive.

I find that I am using burning more in my power builds, what with the changes to radiant fire torch feels so much better.

Do you even know if he was able to speak English? There are people from all over the world playing and maybe he didn’t understand. Also, you’ll find players that are older perhaps, and are used to VOIP don’t tend to pay any attention to chat period.
Final instance, they had you blocked and you didn’t notice!

Celestial armor really isn’t worth it if you are going for direct damage. Knights is a good learning set, or even soldiers until you feel more comfortable, with a full zerker set up. With your zerker trinkets these will still let you do a little damage while taking an extra hit or two.

Keep in mind a guardian is going to require a bit more active play. I run a full zerker guardian. A friend from my guild who I dungeon with now and then runs full soldiers on his guardian. In an average run he goes down more then I do, because he doesn’t avoid damage as well. Your armor will help you stay on your feet, but don’t rely entirely on it

2) find a way to learn people how to play your game because right now its super hard for most of them in PvE
3) remake sorrows embrace path 2
4) or just add me for every unpopular “superhard” pathes of unpopular dungs (which I really love) like sorrows embrace, HotW, TA, arah.

You could become the president with these problem solving skills /s

But seriously, I want heroes too. This game would become fully single player finally.

Heroes will never work in this game. Anet can’t even get the ranger pet AI fixed. We are either stuck with brain dead heroes who get smashed because they never dodge. Or we would end up with Overpowered Heroes like Mesmer Heroes in GW1 who were better then most human players due to better interrupt timing.

Anet won’t get us an inspect option to separate the player base between zerker and non-zerker. I don’t see them giving out heroes who will separate players out even more. Get used to playing with people, its what anet wants us doing.

I think the point is gonna be kinda moot when Chronomancer gets dropped in HoT. Seems anet wants us to have more access to quickness.

Because we’re also probbly going to be getting alot of slow casted at us.. People fail to realize that right now, you don’t fight mobs that put slow on the party.. but once they do… “PLZ Nerf this mob, slow too OP, Need more quickness” and the crying will start .

Exactly, that has been on my mind as well. They made it a boon, they let it stack and they took away most of the huge penalties that used to be associated with skills that granted quickness. I think Anet had to have known this skill would be powerful on a 30 second cool down. Just like they had to have known that Portal would be used for jumping puzzles etc. People don’t give anet enough credit. I don’t know what they have planned for the future, but if they are changing how quickness works, I am assuming they have a reason for it.

I think the point is gonna be kinda moot when Chronomancer gets dropped in HoT. Seems anet wants us to have more access to quickness.

Tome Replacements?

Its a good change.

Don’t say that as if it was objective. It was a good change for people too short-sighted to see the use and appeal of tomes; even then I think everyone can agree that Signet of Courage isn’t very good. Either way, with the tome elite trait becoming baseline, the new Force of Will, and the changes to burning, I’d imagine tomes would’ve been pretty good right about now.

You’re welcome to your opinion. But I say let those books burn. If Anet had given us the Shout and Sig at the start then changed them to the books later every one would be in agreement of just how bad they were. Feel petty cut and dry to me.

What Obal said…

Obal

Hammer + Mace/Torch
Best for an easy time. Use if you feel the need.
Good for CC for some events
Use Focus at start for Shield of Wrath then swap to Torch
Use Focus for fights only if you need to do block rotations
Builds:
Damage Build
Use when you don’t need much/any utility

  • Zeal – Fiery Wrath, Kindled Zeal, Symbolic Avenger
  • Radiance – Right-hand strength, Radiant Fire, Amplified Wrath
  • Honor – Invigorated Bulwark, Empowering Might, Writ of Persistence

Utility Build
Use if you need utility

  • Zeal – Fiery Wrath, Kindled Zeal, Symbolic Avenger
  • Honor – Invigorated Bulwark, Empowering Might, Writ of Persistence
  • Virtues – Unscathed Contender or Master of Consecrations (When Needed), Supreme Justice or Absolute Resolution (When needed), Permeating Wrath (Solo) or Battle Presence (Group) or Indomitable Courage (When Needed)

So not as cut and dry as the old setup, you’ll be swapping between Virt/Radiance most likely between encounters. Need Projectile defense or support and Virtue is your thing, just wanna blow things up while providing support from a lot of protection and or healing, Radiance is your man. Radiance allows for the double Zealots Flame, which hits hard, plus other uses.

I’m loving the setup, finally made my ascended torch, now if they’d just give me a reason to use shield I might make it to actually full ascended everything.

Yeah, my poor little flameseaker, sure it looked cool. But it just sets in my bag, yearning for a chance to prove its not useless. To bad that day never comes.

Tomes were kinda useless, at least Feel My Wrath gives me a reason to slot something other then Renewed Focus. Its a good change.

Anybody else remember the Imperial Sanctum mission from the original Guild Wars?

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Imperial_Sanctum

I was helping a friend through it and had forgotten some of the mechanics that Shiro had, such as the banish and summon abilities. Would be kinda cool to see something like this added to gw2, but I am not gonna hold my breath.

They go down 1 stack per second so 2 ppl can easily carry it.

I am well aware of how fast they go down. However unless you have a perfect run and don’t get hit at all you are gonna have to take an extra couple of seconds to heal or what not between pulls. I don’t think its asking to much for the others in the group to help out as well, it is a team effort after all.

No one asked him to run the hammer to hit the seal. Even running it from seals to seals, up the stair, or just picking up to smash the chest seal is next to impossible with this guy.

Also, in my group, I always make sure to pull the aggro constantly so the the hammer carrier never gets hit by any mobs. There is only one (targeted) mob at the far seal (left or right, I don’t remember), so it is pretty reasonable for anyone to run the hammer.

It is, and when one person isn’t touching the hammer it can slow you down. Pugged a fractal 50 the other day, and only two of us, were touching the hammer, the other 3 didn’t want to pick it up at all. Those stacks only go down so fast .

This thread is going places, PHYWs sharing stories of how effective their PHYW build are!

As long as they stay in their own groups I am ok with them talking about how great their healing powers are

I avoided that thread because literally every post about PvE is saying “theres no teamwork in dungeons because all you do is stack.”

People claiming to know about dungeons. When they literally know nothing.

Isn’t that pretty much the case with every anti zerker thread ever?

In all seriousness, I usually just duo arah and give the extra slots away at the end. Its alot more fun. I just find it sad when I offer a free path 2, path 4 etc in Guild chat and no one takes it

Suggestion - Crafting Interface

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I don’t think that all categories should be collapsed by default every time I open the crafting panel, but I do think that the crafting panel should remember which ones I had open the last time.

The search field at the top is currently storing your last search, but it foes it across all the different crafting disciplines which makes no sense. So I open my artificaer crafting panel and it says “damask” in the search panel instrad of the last thing I have searched for in an artificing context.

The wallet should remember that I have set the filter at the top to “dungeon currencies” until I deselect it.

And about a dozen other places in the gw2 UI.

You can leave it to where its the last thing you had open, and I would still be happy, as it stands it just feels so much more awkward then it has to be.

Never been a fan of the crafting interface in this game.

Granted its gotten better if you have the recipe unlocked.

Could you please Close all the taps at the start? So when I first open the crafting interface it just looks like this?
