If you intend on updating it, that is great. And I understand some people authors want to wait until after the HOT update. I don’t plan on nor did I specifically mention any stickies that haven’t been updated. There are however other guildes with current information that should be considered for Stickies

Just be happy they are account bound now, for the longest time they were soulbound to the character who ran the dungeon or bought/salvaged the gear.

I am well aware that Obal updated his guide. I frequently link it to new players or older ones with questions. It is a great guide. As it stands we have more stickies on this form then most others. They take up a good portion of the top of the page.

These “stickies” are the work of a fellow player and not ANET’s.

They will do it if or when they have time… I’m also eager to see the new infos but hey!

Ask some dev to give you the new informations about the builds, spell coefficients, bugs, meta builds for sPvP, Wvw zerg, Roaming and PvE playstyles… Good luck!

But show some patience for the PLAYERS. Nobody knows what is going to work and what wont. The “meta” is not settled yet.

There are other player post that have been done that could take the place of those that have not been updated. Why keep a sticky that is over a year out of dated? If the authors don’t want to update or might not even still play, then they don’t need to be stickies.

It gets obstructed ALL. THE. TIME. For no reason, even if it’s point blank on even ground. Ranger’s Throw Torch doesn’t have this issue. Why does Guardian?

They behave differently mechanically. Ranger’s torch throw is a traditional, arcing projectile, whereas the guardian torch follows the ground until it reaches its target. Theoretically you’d think that this would lead to the guardian torch throw being less at risk of obstruction, but lol programming.

Ran with GoF a few times. Those were some good runs. Although to confess I don’t remember any of their names anymore WvW has been slowly doing down hill since season one, which is why I spend so much of my free time running dungeons and stuff these days, unless I get pulled into a guild raid or such.

Hoping the New Maps, both in WvW and PvE will eventually break me out of my slump. Been thinking of hanging up my guard for a bit and playing something else. Thief or Ele maybe? For some reason I keep finding myself on the Engi forums maybe that is a sign.

I think we ended up removing stacks each time, but yeah did a bit of stealing as well, was pleasantly surprised about that when i first brought my necro into a fractal a week or so ago.

That’s where sword, dagger and GS come in. They all have extra evades giving you a lot more defensive tools. Active defense > Passive defense.

I’m TERRIBLE with sword, it’s why I didn’t play my ranger for the longest time. With the new traits I saw some fun potential with GS so I’ve been screwing around with it (i’m sure it’s less damage but ehh whatever).

As for one of the other comments about not understanding why people use bad builds. Well… sometimes it’s just fun to change things up. I swapped a whole set of ascended to clerics just to screw around with it on my guard. Sometimes it’s just fun to laugh at bad things as you try to make them work the best they can.

I get that it can be fun to see just how bad a build you can come up with. But I don’t think it’s a good idea to do it with pugs. I will keep my bad builds hidden. Way way down in that dark place in my soul that I call pvp

There is nothing wrong with not being able to play a zerker build. Or not being able to melee some bosses. It is something to work towards, but not not evening has that kind of dedication or desire. Some people have issues with being able to play it or what not, and that is fine. There are many other groups out there for people who wish to play differently. However if said person joins a zerker only group there is a chance that they will be kicked.

As GreyerSkies said, I don’t understand wanting to run a bad build just for the sake of running it, but that is up to the person who is running it. If its how they have fun so be it. Thankfully since the skill and trait clean up in the most recent patch, its harder to create a “useless” build, then it is to simply create a Non-Viable one.

To little benefit for the work that would have to be put into it. Not to mention the confusion that would come about as a result.

I don’t think you will find the Boon Duration worth it in comparison to the stats you could have had in that same place. Your Trinkets are going to be giving out a good portion of your status.

Which boons are you most worried about that you feel the extra boon duration is going to be helping with?

Additionally, I am not sure how High in Fractals you are planning on going but Armor alone won’t cut it after a while if you want to be running something like a 50.

I can’t really read those threads after a while, it just gets to painful when people start going all crazy. Some of the people on there are probably the people who cause the majority of the problems in game anyway.

Who cares what someone else is doing if they are not in your party? Why join just to troll? I honestly can’t understand them. Both sides have the right to play how they want to, why can’t they just do that and cut the crap?

I think they need the guard for stability, in case someone misses a dodge the grub won’t knock them down and Lupi steps on them. Ish a good plan, look at how big his feet is.

Pugging is hard. I think we all know that. Sometimes we meet some gems that get added to our friends list. Other times, its the block list we end up putting them on. Thankfully I have had very few people I have actually had to block outside of gold sellers.

Some of the best people on my friends list were ones who started off not having a clue what was going on, and were awesome enough to listen to advice without going all crazy and telling me to kitten off.

Telling other people how they wish to play together is bad doesn’t do anything productive. Let people play how they wish as long as they are not trolling or harassing.

I don’t think the Engi needs a weapon swap: I like kits as they are right now.

Look at the Rev and the energy cost of its skills. I would hate to see something like that added to Engi (or Ele) for balance sake just to have a weapon swap I probably wouldn’t use anyway.

We have made enough complaints about people joining zerker only groups who don’t fit the description, that the meta players should know how this feels and not do it to others.

So basically you need to go insane (I already am but I can’t stand more than ONE pug in my team? hmmm), buy a sandbag, no, buy two sandbags, and have amazing friends.

Conclusions: full pugging for long periods of times is like exposing oneself to the elephant foot.

Even I am raging due to the two staff guardians (my biggest pet peeve) who we picked up as pugs. My friend still manages to get me laughing on TS or Skype or what not. It’s good to have friends.

It’s probably the only reason I still log in to this game.

P.S. It’s not fair that friends can make me happy when I just want to sulk.

When symbolic Avenger was down, due to the bug, I played around with them a bit, here and there. Since it was the only useful PvE trait during that time as a Zeal Grandmaster, I noticed oddly that my sword lasted though most of the subject alpha fights in CoE, despite the constant AoE.

However, after they fixed the bug I went right back to using Symbolic Avenger. I can’t see much use in taking spirit weapons, that’s just my two cents though.

I got an Amazing friend who loves to do dungeons. Sadly we don’t have a full five man team for doing them anymore. Oddly i find it easier to low man arah then I do most of the lower level dungeons. When this friend is on, I try to bite my tongue and do them because she enjoys them, pugs or no. Otherwise, I don’t think I could keep going anymore with it anymore.

I only remember that there was a sticky that said. Don’t necro post. Along with a warning that to many in the wvw subform had been necro posting threads with developer comments. The sticky said if you necro a post you could get infractions etc.

This has been brought up before. No developer response so we can assume it is working as intended. Beware of karma armor as well.

The WvW form got its hand slapped pretty badly here while back for Necro posting. Seemed like the only post on the front page with Red in them, had been necro posted there from months earlier. There was even a sticky about not necro posting there. Its since been removed though.

For me the game gets boring for two reasons:

1. PVE is extremely repetitive and uninteresting, with extremely boring rewards.

- Levels 1-80, the goal is the get XP and level up. Which involves doing boring, repetitive hearts, map completion, or world events. While doing these things I often find myself in a Zombie state, or autodrive mode. Just absentmindedly pressing buttions and moving on to the next thing that will get me XP.

- After level 80 is reached, the goal then become to gear up and get cool stuff. This is where the game fails miserably for me. The drop rate on all the coolest things that I want are so impossibly low, that there is almost no hope to get them through random drops. That leaves only one option. Mindless, monotonous grinding for gold, and buying it on the TP. < not my idea of fun in anyway.

2. Elitism is getting pretty bad in this game.

- While GW2 community is certainly not the worst I’ve ever experienced… (cough SWTOR) … it’s definitely not the best gaming community out there.

- Dungeon Runners (not all) are the worst. I love running dungeons in MMOs. I find them fun and exciting and rewarding. But here, Elitism rules the dungeons: You must be full zerker! You must be level 80! You must have run this path 1000 times before! You must skip everything and speedrun! And the worst one, You must have 8000+ AP! < lol what the heck does AP have to do with anything?

- This kind of thing is far too common in this game and completely kills my joy for Dungeons. Rather than feed the Leets, I just avoid Dungeons as much as I can.

The game is ok in small doses, but it quickly loses its appeal for me because of those two reasons.

Doesn’t matter what the thread is. They still find a way to bash the dungeon community.

You used to get them as skill points. Or scrolls before update.

Now you get them from doing all three dalies.

Ramdom drops.

You can also get them from champ bags or chest.

Got a Dolyak Signet, PVT, with Sigil of Momentum (stacks toughness per kill) die at CoF P1 first boss (slaver dude) and at the flame acolyte event -.-

We started this run 15 min before reset which I thought it was acceptable time for a COF pug run even if things went bad…

Then I realised I’m really kittening dumb and already had done it that day so I was like meh, don’t think these guys will even finish it before reset so let’s just roll with it.

7 minutes before reset. Acolytes event done, I slack on the boulder to watch pugs fail: surprinsingly they dont fail this part. Gate event I go stay at one spot and one of the guys gets downed to the trash mobs that spawn there, I go help him rally while the dude at Gate gets trolleds momentarily. I go back to my spot, he kills gate.

6 minutes before reset. I remove my trinkets figuring I would be doing just as much damage as these tanky pugs and so that we finish it after reset, seeing as no one seems rushed about it.

Before final boss. Sigil of Momentum pug closes with this gem: “guys this was intense, lets rest a bit, we can do after reset”

Everyone else in the group agrees to it. I’m baffled: WHO creates a CoF run 15 minutes before reset and doesnt want to finish it before? I mean, if they had the daily already, they just lost all those boss chests. What’s the logic?
