I would like to see a picture of the “colorful thinking caps”, please. I’ve always wanted one of my own, and want to see what the Anet folks are wearing. 
In all seriousness…sassy character who becomes my personal nemesis, eh? That sounds quite intriguing! “Sassy” is not how I would have described either the Flame Legion or the dredge, so now I’m wondering. 
Well, my asura is short even for an asura. She took the best picture she could.
Oh, it’s definitely dredge and Flame Legion…you can see them quite clearly during these portal fights.
But if that new structure isn’t norn-constructed, I’m a quaggan.
So while everybody is busy hammering away at the dredge and Flame Legion degenerates popping out of those Diablo-esque portals near the Dolyak Pass waypoint, some of us are noticing the large new (inaccessible) structure on the north side of the pass.
It appears to me to be of norn construction, though others in the area think not. What say you?
This happened last time there was a big patch too. It’s rather like that scene at the end of Airplane! where the reporters all run into a bank of phone booths at once and the phone booths fall over.
It’ll sort itself out eventually.

Dodge and speed buffs are your friends, especially when you’re dealing with a lot of charr who play with fire and probably wet the bed a lot.
I’ll have to chase down the link…someone posted it elsewhere on the forum, but there’s a website that tracks the changing things the NPC’s are saying…
Apparently the Hoelbrak coordinator’s been saying that since Feb. 18. Lesson learned: check those NPC’s more regularly!

I assumed so. Fought the giant two or three times last night on my thief, and she did everything but kick him in his risen kitten. She can deliver damage respectably enough, but the veteran counter never advances.
Maybe a better question is if others are getting daily veteran credit for these events. If they are, then I know I’m doing something terribly wrong.
I’m with you, OP. We waited a while for GW2 to make it to us, but it’s been well worth the wait.

…but it seems to me that tomorrow morning’s maintenance is the first time GW2 has actually had scheduled maintenance. Usually we simply get a patch when they’re ready to deploy it. But I may have missed something.
And no, I’m not complaining by any means (I’ll be at work anyway). The fact that this game does not seem to have a lot of maintenance downtime is one selling point I use when recommending it to friends, in fact. I’m just genuinely curious.
I don’t see any reason why they can’t add mounts, as long as they can’t be used during combat.
If they ever did add it, I would bet they would save that for an expansion pack.
I can think of a couple, the first being the cost of paying someone to code several creatures of burden into the game for our variously-sized characters to ride. I don’t think horses are going to work for the norn or the charr.
Also this. While I’m not sure how it works in other games, I do know that in LOTRO when you’re riding your horse or pony (depending on your race) in an area full of hostiles, the mount will eventually take so much damage that you’ll be dismounted.
Now…envision that scenario in Orr:
“Mount up, we’re heading for Arah!” “Whinny!” “DEATH, GOOD!” BLAM! “KITTEN!”
Yeah, you’d be better off with a supply dolyak.

On a serious note, I’m trying to determine if this is in fact the first time we’ve seen maintenance requiring a period of some hours. Seems like it is but I can’t recall.
And on an interesting note, another game I play will be going down at the exact same time for a maintenance period of 12+ hours. However, they need it badly. As my Asuran mesmer has been wont to say, I thought that was interesting.
The way I see it…
…it’s a game, not a job.
My smallish guild is mostly made up of friends from other games…Diablo, LOTRO, and the original GW game. We’ve all known each other for years; if they want to go run with another guild because that much larger guild is doing dungeons and requires members to represent at least part of the time, I’m okay with that. As guild leader I think it would be mighty bad form for me not to represent at all times. It’s simply not worth getting one’s bloomers in a bunch over.
That said, I would like to see an alliance system implemented similar to the one we had in GW1. I think that would help everyone with regards to getting a lot of endgame stuff done.
So now we have a Secret Kitten Level along with our Secret Turkey Level.

I welcome these adjustments. I think it will cause many to stop and consider what they post, before they post it. Some fine ideas may result!
My mesmer already has a flying mount, his name is Tequatl the Sunless. He smells funny and has a bit of a bad temper, but that’s mostly because every time he shows up people poke him with things.

In Flame and Frost: The Gathering Storm, the second installment in this four-part series, the stakes are raised, and battles rage, in the foothills of the Shiverpeaks.
The focus is definitely on the mountains, I’d say, and now “storm” is becoming a big factor. I need to go explore that region of the mountains between Diessa and the Wayfarer Foothills more closely.
And not just the Claw…Tequatl’s event makes for plenty of rezzing opportunities, when players wander too close to him.
Last night my Asuran mesmer managed it simply by defending some Sylvari outpost or other in Caledon Forest from the Nightmare Court. Nearly every zone I’ve been in has some similar event with plenty of Leeroy-Jenkins-leaning NPC’s, if you’re having trouble locating unlucky fellow players.
Take heed, I haven’t taken leave of my senses…

Why does everyone instantly jump to dragons as if they’re the only major villains in this universe. How do you know Menzies’ Shadow Army isn’t possessing Steam Creatures, or a team of crazed Margonites is performing a ritual to reincarnate Shiro Tagachi.
Or…it’s Titans. Are we sure we beat them back?
Yes, I would. Loot is only one of the game’s many, many enjoyable aspects, but one I could easily live without.
I’m going to chime in with the others to say this is definitely a change for the better. Orr is still tough (as it should be), but no longer impossible. My thief was stalled on her personal story because traveling around the region was such a nuisance; now she’s moving forward at last.
Also, it’s an awesomely designed zone. Somebody put a lot of work and talent into creating it and it’s cool to be able to admire that handiwork without being mobbed.
Pun intended.
For Heralds, there is a surprising lack of voice acting going on.
Well, the one in LA simply shouts “Hey, over here!” to get your attention.

I wonder if this will be my personal herald. I’ve never met the guy, but he’s always sending me these gossipy mails about what people like Rytlock Brimstone and LogansRun Thackery are doing.
So while we are patching (and goodness, it looks to be a whopper), let’s speculate about just what’s driving these Charr and Norn away from their respective areas. I note with interest that while the content is set in the starter area for the Norn, the Charr content is in Diessa Plateau, which is actually the following zone.
Are the Sons of Svanir and the Flame Legion getting particularly aggressive, or have we got another Elder Dragon or two astir? Maybe Jormag is getting tired of people calling his lieutenant by his name, so he wants to properly introduce himself.
Let the speculation begin!

So what’s everyone the most excited for? I’m looking forward to the achievement changes as well as whatever’s supposed to transpire in Diessa Plateau and Wayfarer Foothills.
Actually Tim, that jingling sound effect has been part of some armor pieces. The rare quality conjurer pants have this for instance. As for if it was newly added to some sets, I have no clue.
It’s a good thing I checked this thread before posting one of my own…I just now have discovered this phenomenon. I told a guildmate it sounded like my Asuran mesmer has a pocket full of skritt shinies.
