Guardians of the Vault [GotV] and Guíld of Dívíne Soldíers [GoDS]
Gate of Madness server
Looks like a fix has been rolled out, I’m updating now.
In another thread, someone stated that the dev’s stated that the error would be fixed with the next patch.
I tried to do the name change, but it doesn’t work if you already deleted the program.
That was me. It was in a Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4fibav/patch_bug_thread_19th_of_april_2016/d298jv9
I’d advise not trying any of these other fixes until we see if this helps, whenever the new build goes live. Not to take away from the good intentions of those posting the advice, but uninstalling/reinstalling and renaming things might cause even more problems in the long run. Just my humble opinion.
DrStephenCW is responding to the reports of this in Reddit bug thread, and says that the next build should fix it. Thought I’d pass that along.
Also having the same issue. Already sent in a ticket and got a quick reply.
“Thank you so much for reaching out to us.
I would be more than happy to help out. We have found that the reason behind this issue is due to the population on our servers. So many people are trying to patch and download at once that it is causing these downloadable files to either not download at all or download incomplete. We are asking that players give it a few hours and then try to download/install again. If you continue to have issues just message me back and we will get you helped out. Take care.

Thank you for sharing and I hope that’s the case…
…but it’s causing a verification error? That’s a new one on me…
We should not have to uninstall or rename anything. It is GW2s problem and they should be fixing it. Just give them time. There is always something that happens when a new big patch is going on. Everybody is trying to update the game at the same time and the servers go nuts. Does it suck? Yes but I am not going to go playing around in my computer to fix GW2 problems. We shouldn’t have to.
That’s how I see it as well. The variety of affected systems and fixes (some of which don’t fix it for everybody) tells me it’s something on Anet’s end.
It’s a beautiful day. I’ll just open up the windows to let in some pollen—-erm, fresh air, and check back later.
A lot of us have it…no second PC to try the one fix with, and I’m reluctant to start renaming things until I’m sure that’s the only fix. So I’ll wait.
Glad I am not the only one…guess I will wait a while.
Me too. I have no second computer to experiment with.
This sucks. First time it has ever happened to me. Not looking forward to reinstalling.
Don’t reinstall yet. A lot of us are having this issue, maybe Anet can help from their end. It’s a first for me as well, and things were fine before the patch.
Also getting this, and have seen multiple reports of same.
Care to give us a hint or two, Mr. Shaman? Kryta, Ascalon, etc? Minds that need examining want to know!
I asked on his twitter if he was talking about the portal across from the divinity reach portal next to sab. It doesn’t have a purple circle icon on the map and the portal itself has a red o on it like it’s prohibited. Not sure if the portal was there before or not. Seems odd they would shut it down though if it led somewhere originally.
I thought that was supposed to have led to the Polymock arenas, originally.
Just a side note that I’m noticing here. That_shaman is a she.
Ooops. Was not aware of that, sorry. I edited my posts accordingly.
EDIT: Have now been told that_shaman is, in fact, male. Have edited once more to leave it ambiguous until I can find out the facts.
(edited by Tanith.5264)
Well, if you’ll check his tweets you’ll note there’s a careful omission of where these portals are. I guess unless we are teased with some more hints we’ll just have to wait and speculate…
(edited by Tanith.5264)
A couple of enigmatic tweets went out on Sunday:
Funny Anet, distracting me with SAB so I wouldn’t notice that GIGANTIC portal that wasn’t there before. But don’t worry, all in good time!
And, later:
So I did some double checking with an old DAT file and that portal -or dare I say portals- definitely weren’t there a month ago!
I did some quick checking this morning around the SAB area, but saw nothing that struck me as new. Of course, there’s so many bells and whistles around SAB that I could have missed something.

Wow. No april fools this year? Now we really know, in what a bad state GW2 and A-Net must be.
Well, the day is young. I was just on and I admit I was surprised not to find anything…at least, nothing immediately noticeable.
But maybe the others are right…maybe Anet got tired of the complainers (God knows the rest of us are) and decided the SAB festival is the best solution.
We shall see.

This is the GW2 community I know and love. Class act.
This is what Colin said:
“An opportunity came up that allows me to see my family far more, support my wife on a project she is tackling after years of her supporting me, and a chance to cut my commute down to zero from an epic commute I have today. For now I’d rather let this discussion be about the future of Gw2 and leave my own future to that!”To me that sounds like he’s now able to work from home, or is taking a break from working. Zero commute doesn’t sound like working at Amazon…
Wow, where was he commuting from, I wonder…
Do we know where he’s going next? I’m impressed enough with his work on GW2 to want to be able to keep an eye on his career.
All he said is he’ll be back with his family who from the sounds of it are NOT currently in Seattle area.
Ah. makes sense. Well, I wish him the best…can’t help feeling a little sad, gonna miss that smile and his enthusiasm.

I’m still trying to figure out how Rytlock got Sohothin back. He barely explains the Revenant abilities and the sword not at all.
And let’s have no more of this “later, cub” nonsense, Rytlock.
i recall logan say he loot it from ascalon but rurik died at fire ring -
Well, Rytlock states during the LS that the sword “came into his care” some years ago. However, he refused to elaborate. In Edge of Destiny he tells Logan “the sword’s mine now” and this is in Ascalon.
So apparently someone brought Rurik’s sword back to his homeland at some point. I’d like to know…the rest of the story.
Kralk didn’t rise in Ascalon.
Somewhat to the north of Ascalon, you’re right, my mistake. He flew south over Ascalon towards the desert, which was my main point.
Yeah, for some reason I was looking at that big purple blot in the desert and thinking that was where he rose. I should have remembered you can see part of his sleeping form in EotN.
Still, however, I think a lot of the content involving him could be set in the parts of Ascalon we already have explored. And if they want to add mini-zones as they did during the previous LS installments…well, there is the Desert Gate…
Bear in mind, guys…Kralkatorrik rose in the desert, but it’s Ascalon that he menaces…and we’ve already got those maps. Don’t you want to do something about all those dang Branded?

In a word, Charrdian.
Slightly off-topic here, but those of you who play with the sound off are really missing out. In addition to these mysteries, there is some truly awesome music in game!
Maybe patch brought some more clues?
I hope so, especially given that “tease” from Anet. We need to start looking and listening more closely.
One nice new touch is how your character, when speaking to NPC’s he/she has interacted with previously in the storyline, stops to exchange a few pleasant words with them. I’m think of the first Nuhoch we meet but can’t recall his name at the moment. Also different Pact soldiers and so on. Makes the story much more immersive because it’s not a cutscene.
I wandered into this thread trying to get some ideas of my own. I’m currently marching my rev completely through the LS (she’s a Sylvari) and was looking for some ideas for optimizing her before I try for ascended gear. Right now I tend to stick to Jalis/Shiro though yesterday I experimented with Mallyx a bit.
This thread gets a thumbs-up from me because of the many ideas I’ve picked up, and also my new favorite word…“boonfarting”.
How about a “guild kite” glider skin?
I have no fear for Rytlock. He’s the Chuck Norris of GW2.
That said, I’m hoping he’ll explain how he got his sword back, and fill us in a bit on how Revenants came to be.
I’m almost willing to be money on Kralkatorrik being the next ED we face. Shatty is getting stronger, we have portals into the heart of the Brand all but ready, and there’s something else. I don’t remember which character it was, but early in LS1 someone mentions “We were going to go after Kralkatorrik next, then we heard Mordremoth’s alarm clock go off.”
I’m paraphrasing, of course.
Personally…Faolain deserved better. It’s made this story very painful to do. Trehearne will be remembered as a hero, but I doubt many will notice that the Court was fighting alongside them. I hope Chrysanthea keeps up her promise to do this more often and have the Court join against the next Dragon.
I actually did notice that, and liked the level of complexity it brought. Makes me wonder what will happen should Kralkatorrik prove to be the next ED we fight. Will we suddenly find ourselves aligned with the Flame Legion?
Questions that bother me. I’m sure these have already been asked, but gotta get it out of my system. Spoilers incoming.
Garm. What happened to him?
Caithe never explains what she was doing with the egg.
We left Taimi, without even her golem, in a dead city swarming with Mordrem and crazed insects. And we were completely all right with this.
Those questions aside, there were aspects of the story I liked very much, such as the redemption of Canach. Have the Sylvari themselves been redeemed? We shall see…
There is a dialog in the blood legion personal story that can sound a bit homosexual if you have a male charr.
Rancher Strodum Crushmaw:
Did you have to shoo the exploding cow right toward me?You: Yes.
RSC: Oh, you’re cute. Real cute.
You: You’re not bad yourself.
RSC: I wasn’t…uh…Jeez.
I’m pretty sure my male charr necro had that scene. I viewed it as him being a wiseguy and providing a little comedy relief, though.
Double posted. There seems to be an issue with the forum software today.

“Charr barricade in southeastern Maelstrom”?
EDIT: Found it! Cool, and it’s been here since S1, huh? I’ve done that map on several characters and never saw it.
That’s what I love about this game. There’s always something new to find.
(edited by Tanith.5264)
However, we have the matter of Glint’s egg, which we have been told will be a focal point for S3. And then we have the Desert Gate in FoR, which would be a natural entry point for a Kralkatorrik-themed expansion.
It seems to me that the pieces are already in place.
Thing is, there are plenty out there in the GW2 who would donate to the organizers of such an event without being asked to. That is the strength of our community after three years.
And that says something about us.
Just tried it on my druidanger, he seems to be working okay still…
Hmm, when I did the event last night it seemed to be working as usual.
Maybe he heard he’s getting a revamp and is now preening?
I have been having this problem with the one under the bridge west of Claw Island wp. I can hear it—very distinctly if I open my world map—but cannot see or target it. It’s my last karka and it’s been this way since the new LA was unveiled.
Nothing kills the mystique of a villain faster than too many lines, imho.
I understand Mordy is interacting with the Sylvari and to an extent he should be talking, but I hope Anet doesn’t go overboard and turn the next ED into Dr. Evil. I’ll give you guys an example of what I mean from another videogame series: Diablo.
Diablo the First said nothing at all. When you’d finally reached his inner sanctum, he growled and rushed you.
Diablo the Second had one line: “Not even death can save you from me!” Cheesy, but at least he only said it once.
Diablo the Third never shuts up. He threatens to bury you in your own ter-RAWR. He gives you a tour of the Realm of Ter-RAWR, complete with a running commentary. He taunts you his long-winded appraisal of your abilities. And he pitches a full-on hissy fit as your battle with him enters its final stage.
Thank goodness GW2 came along when it did, because this awful dialogue had rendered that game impossible for me to play without rolling my eyes.
Please, Anet, keep the ED’s silent and mysterious. Mostly silent.
Since we’re now being teased with gliding in Central Tyria, maybe a new track will be added?
But I’m like many of you, we need more ways to earn the mastery points themselves. And the in-game description that they can be earned at “places of power” is clearly wrong.
I’m conflicted.
On the one hand, saying you can work magic with your sword shouldnt be ignored.
But at the same time, if it requires two hands to lift you’ve got nothing to be ashamed of.
The thrust of this dilemma is powerful indeed
Personally I’m not conflicted at all – I love the extra physicality of asura animations.
Perhaps my meaning was not rigid enough. The vein of what I was saying might not have been noticed. Next time I’ll try to erect a stronger post.
I wonder how little a “Mini Pocket Raptor” will be? We we even be able to see it?
“Your face is funny!”
(P.S. Most epic thread I’ve seen in a while)
They made a really great game that I enjoy being immersed in on a nightly basis. Thank you again for all your hard work and look forward to what you are bringing to the game in the future.
;)
I’m wondering about this myself, my rev just got to 80 last night and now I’m going about getting the rest of the Mistward set unlocked for her.
I asked my guildmates what stats revs are running these days and the immediate “Zerk!” dissatisfied me. I remember experimenting with either soldier or knight stats during one of the beta weekends and being mighty impressed by the results, so that’s what I might end up going with. I got enough “zerkers” in my stable.
Nowadays people demand that there should be no nerf, before anybody even demands a nerf? xD
I know, right? Back in my day we had to walk to raids, uphill, both ways…
I must say, this thread has given me a wonderful idea on how to have some fun with my guild.

If I ever figure out which NPC “invented” gliding, I’m going to create a lawyer-type character and “sue” that NPC in a class-action Tyrian lawsuit, on behalf of all of us who forgot where we were and casually stepped off buildings, bridges…
