Guardians of the Vault [GotV] and Guíld of Dívíne Soldíers [GoDS]
Gate of Madness server
Apparently I’m still using an older driver (311.66 to be precise), so “buggy drivers” doesn’t appear to be the case here. I see I can update, is that advisable?
I am also suddenly having problems with the game crashing due to the same error. My card is an NVidia GeForce 8800 GTX. Up until this morning I’ve had no trouble whatsoever with GW2, now I can’t even get the game to run.
This was already asked to the devs during a livestream, actually, and Angel McCoy responded with that there is nothing – they’re just friends.
Thank God for that. I’m getting mighty tired of browsing these forums and seeing threads about “X and X should be in a relationship” and little if any attention being focused on the game’s lore and story.
Not a popular stance, I know, but I’m speaking from experience when I say that “shippers” can really derail a franchise if they’re allowed to run amok.
I agree. I was very disappointed with the Blade Shard vendor. I used some up just to free up some space in my bank.
How hard would it be for ArenaNet to “unbind” them so people could at least sell them if they don’t want them? I’ve got three characters I’m trying to equip with the backpiece, and farming the Aetherblades in the JP and in EotM gets tiresome after a while. :P
I’m glad you’re having fun replying.
So I’ve done a bit more digging and the wiki provided this interesting little nugget. Funny I never noticed this NPC, though I’ve run into Coriolis many times after updates to see if the gates-under-construction were doing anything interesting.
Also…where is she now?
Holy kitten dude. But what if they were designed for somwhere else and now they are “re-programmed” because the original ones are gg. Logic..
I’m not a “dude”, however…you know the OP is meant in fun, yes? A guildie and I were discussing this, and I thought it would be fun to post here.
Because, you know, fun.
(point an accusing if somewhat stubby Asuran finger in the general direction of Anet)
I see what you did there! The “mysterious Asura gates of Coriolis Plaza” are a mystery no longer, but are now fully functional! However, they’ve been a work in progress since the game launched, which means…
…someone KNEW! You knew LA was gonna be razed, and were preparing for it all along! But at least one guildie and myself see through your veil of secrecy! Ha, I say to you! HA!
Also, HA!
Carry on.
This is a terrible move. I use those for dailies and monthlies, usually just one circuit of boar>troll>oak before going on to better things. And it’s not just Queensdale, either; it’s ALL starting zones. If they really want people off the train, then just don’t give loot after the first time.
I’m sure they’re still “events”. We’ll just have to find champs elsewhere.
I’m hoping for that rumored blade shard vendor…anyone hear anything about that?
A woman can give her age if she wants to. 46 here, and not tired of it yet.
Maybe? But the real question is who decided on the default colours? I mean if this happened on St. Paddy’s – but otherwise … green for a skeletonwitch?
Green is the colour of death in Tyria (due to its association with Grenth).
My charr necro humbly begs to disagree. Blood Legion FTW!!!
One thing…something that we’re all apparently overlooking:
Scarlet’s drill is still sitting on the bay floor, and is still punched through the crust there. If you swim down there you can both see and hear the energy of the disrupted ley line. And somewhere on the other end of that ley line is an Elder Dragon—newly awakened, hungry, and grumpy.
Whoever ends up rebuilding LA…have they thought it through?
And here I thought I was being nerdy by pointing this out to everyone…LOL, I love this game and its community.
I thought it was just me until I mentioned it to my guildies…seems several folks have seen it!
Submitted for your approval: a screenshot of a UFO hovering over the ravaged waters off Malchor’s Leap…specifically, near the Cathedral of Eternal Radiance. This curious, unmoving object is visible just to the left of where you see the Pact airships battling Zhaitan or Zhaitan’s Squire or whatever dragon you see cruising around up there.
It’s hard to say exactly what this is, but to my bemused charrior it looked like the model for a raptor. My guildmates think it’s someone’s lost kite. Or is it something more sinister…a drone???
(Most likely just a graphical glitch, I know, but still funny.)
Evon is getting his revenge on all who did not vote for him.
I feel like a more heavy Sylvari emphasis could have been implemented.
Several of my guildies are wishing for the “district” system that we have in GW1, but I’m not sure if it’s feasible. It would be great if it was, because that’s the only downside I see to the advent of megaservers.

There’s even a guard who complains about the looters, but they’re untargetable. I find that endlessly frustrating.
When do we get to work on our “Looter Booter” title track?
There are a pair of skritt guards at one of the havens in Metrica that I call Beavis and Butt-head due to their exchange:
“Bored.”
“BEEELLCCHHH!!!”
“HAHAHAHAHA!”
Silly? You bet. But cute in an adolescent sort of way.
This is also occurring with the mesmer #1 skill Spatial Surge and I think with an ele scepter attack as well. Your combat log will show the correct damage being dealt.
I admit when I first noticed this last night on my mesmer, my eyes nearly bugged out of my head!
Has this always been there, though? Because I was just discussing this with a guildie.
Earthquakes are a common act in the game, related to various events. In Bloodtide, for example, there is an event chain within the Flooded Castavall about an earthquake unearthing a powerful risen (and artifacts though we never see them), and said earthquake does shake nearby areas.
I’m pretty sure I a Southsun quake before too, near the hive. One at the Maw during the event too, I think (shaking caused by the “blizzard”). So I don’t think any of these are new.
This said though, I would be disappointed if there weren’t a massive world map changing event. Even if we don’t see it in explorable areas, we should see some changes to the world map, IMO.
Emphasis is mine. I experienced this a couple hours ago…was working on mapping the area on my warrior, and it’s been a very long time since I’ve worked Bloodtide so I couldn’t remember if this quaking had always been there, or was new.
Googled it, and landed on my own thread. LOL.
Or a Charr, but I doubt your Asura can get it that high.
My Asura is female, I’ll have you know! She’d simply build herself a water closet.
Not sure if it’s an intended thing or possibly something that’s been there all along, but my engineer was rather startled to discover yellow snow in Wayfarer yesterday.
Naughty Norn.
Coming soon to a Tyrian city near you…Walmart! Go for the savings, stay for the spectacle of a fat Norn in a tank top two sizes too small and pajama bottoms!
WHY ANET? My only source of income is gone. Life is not worth living anymore. But seriously, this was not even clear in the patch notes. This patch went ahead without the approval of the community. I’m sure this is devastating to everyone! How can anet change something so drastic and not ask the community how they would feel about the train being removed. This change is so drastic, it needs democracy and opinions of others.
We want the train back.
I’m going to assume the OP was meant as a joke.
If not, then I’m sad for you. You have a huge, beautifully crafted game to explore which got a little bigger last night, and all you’re worried about is farming gold in one zone? Open your eyes.
Anet doesn’t need anybody’s approval for anything, it’s their product.
Three of my characters…my mesmer, my warrior, and my baby guardian…all favor greatswords. Though only one of them shoots purple lightning out of it.
I thought a greatsword was much larger than other swords, hence the name. Weren’t you all listening to Lord Tywin last night? He said Ned Stark’s Ice easily had enough steel in it for two swords.
Anyhow, there are chainsaw greatswords in this game, so the point is probably moot.
Sorry for necro-ing an old thread…pun completely intended.
One of these dropped for my mesmer last night in WvW; I’ve banked it for now since I’m not sure which character would benefit most from it. I’ve got a necro who’s running an old but still viable condition build so he seems the most likely candidate. Am I right?
My hat is off to Anet, this took some work to pull off.
My guild was doing Melandru last night and when we missed a skill break the priest changed us into drakes. All those gigantic drake snouts waving like the foam rubber “We’re #1” fingers people bring to ball games…I totally lost it! I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a game in a long time. Well played, Anet.
Oh, and you people who were bellyaching because you have no sense of humor…go soak your oversized heads. :P
…and here my mesmer was blaming the Inquest and their experiments…
Dragons should randomly bounce all around the battlefield, and sometimes ‘karka-roll’ all over the puny characters…
Now, right there is the beginnings of a solution. Shatty rises into the air periodically to throw his minions at us, but he lands in the exact same spot every time following this.
Here’s an idea…have him soar around a bit and land in a different spot each time. Near enough for the cannons to still hit him, but if nothing else players would be forced to take up different positions each time.
Some of you might not believe this but “Shatty” has already been buffed once, not long after launch. He used to be easier.
While I agree that a world boss (especially a dragon!) should be difficult, I think ramping it up to Teq and Tri-Wurm difficulty is going overboard. I think instead the dragon should be given a number of difficult (not impossible) buffs that can be removed by players working together—-but rotate them so only one or two would be active during a given fight, and make that rotation random so players never quite know what to expect. Same with his attacks. Tough, but not impossible.
I know such a redesign would take a lot of work on the part of devs, but it would also make any world boss exciting and fun to fight again.
Wandering slightly OT for this, but seeing the centaur discussion makes me wonder…
…has anyone ever encountered a risen/icebrood/branded centaur?
That’s okay, I like story mode.
Drax Tinderstrike was still lying on the ground and moving when I last visited the camp. I might be mistaken, but I’m going to take it as a sign that he defied the odds and survived.
He has to survive! He has to help us find Raisin Face!
I foresee many a futile attempt to get past that barrier and the level 80’s…this will not end well.
I took that screenie and another on the fly, the group was moving pretty fast.
But you’re right, this morning I found a YouTube video someone made of the event and saw the artwork in the background. Odd that I’ve never noticed it before.
I got all excited last night and thought I’d found a clue of some sort. Oh well.
During a raid on Foulbear Kraal this evening, my eye was caught by some fairly intricate artwork on the rocks surrounding the ogre camp. I took a couple of screenies since I hadn’t noticed these before; however it’s possible I’ve just not noticed them previously. Have they always been there? Also, if they are new…what do you all make of them?
“You’re a big stupid brute, Braham! I like you.”
“Uh-huh.”……Uh huh. Hehe.
Inter-racial love is splendid! I would love to see a Braham x Taimi story. Just like I’m hoping for Logan x Rytlock.
She’s so.. Small… o.o
I don’t like the images I just saw.
Penguin, you’re mean. cries
Oh. My. God.
Brain bleach, please, and also where’s the “minus one” button?
barfs
I think the 80’s serve the same purpose as the “SuperOrcs” that appeared in LOTRO just before the Mirkwood expansion went live. They were placed across the Anduin river east of Lothlorien and any player attempting to swim the river to explore the new land mass was in for a rude (and fatal) surprise.
Awesome. I was wandering the area last night, but was sticking to the chasm in the Gallowfields instead. I’d found so many new/unfamiliar tunnels and caves in LA I guess I was expecting to see them everywhere.
I vaguely remember the fort from my early Sylvari days, but not the champs. That’s got to be new.
Those champion archers on the wall of that fort have always been there.
Have they always been level 80? Seem like that would have raised eyebrows if it were the case before the LS was even introduced.
Of course I’ll have to go investigate myself, now.
It’s not that secure. There are looters running around, and you can’t do anything about them. I want to hit them with the floor (whatever floor is still intact).
Braham reminded me of myself in that instance, when I’m on break at work or at a family gathering having to listen to someone’s drawn-out story.
And yeah, my guildmates and I are already “uh-huh”-ing each other all over the place.
My mesmer is bald (I didn’t like any of the hairstyles at launch), and I regularly get comments on how cute she is. Y’all be the judge.
Norn also utter “Yak spit!” as Braham proves.
Though he may have been talking about his hairstyle.
…actually, I haven’t, not yet, but it seems quite a few people over on Reddit did.
Given the ending of Scarlet’s story, I would have thought this sort of activity would be confined to the Maguuma area. However, perhaps the Breachmaker made a much larger breach than expected.
Has anyone experienced this while mapping, exploring, or simply running through the jungle?
no real human beings can be such a bunch of annoying drama queens like the Destiny Edge.
Clearly, you have not been around tabletop gamers for very long in your lifetime. Trust me . . . there’s worse which inhabits your Friendly Local Gaming Store.
Fext also has not met Diablo the Third. Thank goodness GW2 came out not long after he was unleashed upon the gaming public, or I’d still be in the clutches of his ter-RAWWWR.
