Guardians of the Vault [GotV] and Guíld of Dívíne Soldíers [GoDS]
Gate of Madness server
We were given four seeds, yes?
Unless I’m counting wrong, we only used three in the episode…
…what about the fourth?
Beautifully done!
It’s funny in a way, seeing that it seems to be occurring only in the desert, but it does make me want to have to go to the little asuras’ room more frequently.
Hope it gets fixed, it’s hard to game with my legs crossed…
I thought my mesmer had forgotten to go to the little asuras’ room before heading out to the new area. Glad I’m not the only one.
Oh, hell.
Mordy’s gotten to the karka!
Shamelessly bumping this old thread, because we’ve all got turkey on the brain.
Or in the oven.
Also, stay away from the cooking fires. Some of those new recipes pack a wallop…
Zhed’s dead, baby. Zhed’s dead.
As i said, it’s a glimps into the past. Who knows when they met.
I know. I just couldn’t resist trotting that out.
And I expect you’re right, hence the sepia tones that become more and more pronounced as the trailer goes on. I don’t think that’s an accident.
Zhed’s dead, baby. Zhed’s dead.
I found the sepia tones of the trailer very intriguing. Does it portend an aspect of this storyline we haven’t anticipated yet, or is Anet just trying a different approach to their trailers?
And who will vanish next? Zojja, Eir or Logan?
We’ll need to come up with catchphrases for them. Rytlock’s journey has only just begun, and Caithe will bear somebody’s pain. What about the others?
I always thought the purpose of clones/phantasms was to distract an enemy while the mesmer escapes/moves into position to deal better damage. Like moving far enough away to let the GS deliver its maximum damage, for example.
Anyway, mine seemed to be holding their own well enough last night, and I’m using zerker gear on a dated build. I enjoyed the “first” teragriff fight—-the one where you’re rescuing the Zephyrites. I haven’t completed the episode yet so I can’t comment on what I assume is the “end” bossfight—-the “predator” Caithe and other NPC’s are talking about in the labyrinth.
Will finish it today, when I’m not so tired.
It may be like the flickering waypoints from the first part of the season…they’re gradually appearing. Anyway, I think they’re cool and add a nice Lovecraftian touch to the game.
Well, a new teaser image just appeared on my FB feed with the MoP saying “I have something I can no longer protect” while holding the egg. So whoever’s doing the talking, we should have a clearer idea Tuesday. And since our PC plus Marjory and Kas were deliberately shown the scene, it’s gonna be interesting to see who gets to protect it now.
My own post was meant half-jokingly, btw.
I did say it was an idea of mine.
But where do you get time travel? The egg’s been in stasis according to Ogden, and Rytlock did his disappearing act shortly after the MoP did his. From a chronological standpoint, it makes enough sense to me.
From a storytelling standpoint, it doesn’t. Rytlock has his own quest, retrieving his sword and ending the Ascalonian curse, which really doesn’t connect to the MoP and Glint’s egg directly. Unless it went like this:
Rytlock: “You! Human god of war and fire and yelling! That’s my sword! I need it back to end the curse on Ascalon!”
Balthazar: “Okay, fuzz-face, but first take this dragon egg and give it to that guy wandering the desert. You’ll know him, there’s a kitten-ton of plant monsters raised by Mordremoth chasing him. Tell him he must promise to protect it with his life.”
Rytlock: “(grumble) Agreed. Why are all those spirits screaming and running? Is there another dragon attacking?”
Balthazar: “No, it’s something leaking through from the other side of the world, something about a Kardashian donkey.”
Rytlock: “Really. I’ve never seen such a creature, I wonder what they look li—-AAAAIIIIGGGHHH!!!”
Balthazar: “(sigh) Kormir, we’re going to need one of your blindfolds…”
I don’ t think it could be one of the Edge of destiny. WP (wooden potatoes) speculated it could be Snaff, and somes of you guys speculated Logan, or others members of the destiny member. But to me, again, the voice clearly looked like “mess up”, “no emotion”. It was more like a really really “wise” and “old”(in the sense, who saw a lot of things during the years person.)
Or someone who traveled…to the Mists, say. Chasing after a mystical sword at the start, but once he got there he saw that things were far more complex than he knew. Saw so much, in fact, that he’s now sporting a blindfold.
Also, he has a deep voice.
Now, why he’d be randomly handing off dragon eggs to people is more than I can figure out, but it’s just an idea of mine.
Dang, it never even occurred to me to check the chat log.
Well, I have my own ideas on whose voice that might be. I’ll keep ’em to myself…for now.
Hmm…interesting. I know of only one voice actor from Destiny’s Edge who has such a deep voice…
So can anyone figure out what it said? I heard it, but couldn’t make anything out.
My encounter:
I was at the very end of the boss fight, and had the big guy down to about 20% or so. I was all proud of myself for having figured out how to damage him…
…then I disconnected.
I believe Rytlock took a wrong turn in the Mists, and somehow ended up in Lothlorien. And you know how those Elves are about strangers casting eyes upon their woods…
He’s “Lord of the Everlasting Depths”, not “Lord of the Dance”.
It’s beautiful, and such a pleasant shock to us old-timers.
Advice from a casual, don’t eat food or use traits etc etc.
It’s soloable but a pain in the butt. I actually rage quit my first try (I was tired from spending all day blasting through all the living story to catch up for today’s release).
First, always go for the menders. Use stuns and knock back any chance you can get. When you kill him attack the statue. Rytlock always mentions when a new bender appears so listen for that.
The only really annoying part is the orb of utter terror and doom. Just outrun it as best as you can (It disappears after a while) while ranging the mender.
Good luck!!
I hate it when Bender shows up. Makes everything even more chaotic.
Seriously though, OP, the menders don’t even fight back, you just gotta kill ‘em before they get to the statue. In between ’em, range the statue and dodge the lightning ball thingies. You’ll make it. And Rox is pretty good about running over to rez you if you’re down, I noticed.
All the pieces fit. It looks like that soon we will know more of Bubles or Mr. S.
He’ll always be “Cthulhu” to me. Though with the “S” we could go with…Shamu???
I don’t recall learning exactly what sort of artifact we failed to recover in “Temple of the Forgotten God”…only that the Eye and Mouth escaped with it. If Abaddon’s history plays a part in the upcoming chapters, it might be interesting to know.
You’re all wrong.
His name is Cthulhu.
Halcyon…nope, not race specific, my human thief and asuran mesmer both got it. And thank you for the correction, Surbrus…I should have thought of that.
Was catching my mesmer up on the Living Story last night in preparation for the next installment and realized something.
After the Pale Tree is attacked the only racial leader who states that he and his retinue will remain to help the shocked Sylvari is Imperator Smodur. Everyone else is in a rush to leave…even Treehead…erm, excuse me, Trehearne. But when you talk to Smodur, he says “As soon as we’ve helped these Sylvari, we’ll be on our way…”
And if anyone should be in a hurry to get going, it’s the charr…after all, Smodur could only watch helplessly while his most renowned tribune dove headfirst into a Mists portal after his sword.
So the next time someone tells you that charr are evil, bloodthirsty beasts, you can throw that in their face. Take that, Gwen! :P
If you’re not enjoying yourself, at the very least take a break. The game won’t go anywhere.
However, I’m still managing to have fun. Missions with my guild, smacking Teq around most evenings and going “Preciousssssssss” over the many spoons he gives me, developing my characters, and generally having a blast.
Disregard the Negative Nancys. They are determined to suck the joy out of everything in life because they can find no joy themselves. The world’s full of ’em.
Guys, you are so mean! You should be locked along with Mad King’s son.
Let’s throw four complainers into the Mystic Toilet and see what happens.
Why didn’t that jerk defend LA?
Y’know I never thought about that before, Djinn have nigh-god like elemental powers, why the crap did he run away? Even if he didn’t want to defend the city (which he probably didn’t just because he’s kind of a jerk) the odds are the Aetherblades had nothing that could have killed him anyway. I mean, if he could be killed by normal means undoubtedly one of the millions of people who’ve had a sour deal with him would have done so already.
He didn’t have a choice. He’s stuck in the forge, and Evon knew that eventually things would settle down and people would be buying cheap exotic weapons from him to throw in the forge again…so he dragged it through the asura gate with him! :P
Maybe it’s to do with all these extra Carved Bone Spoons Tequatl has been giving me?
Shouldn’t we hurry up and finish rebuilding LA? King Thorn might not be pleased if he sees his favorite city in ruins and he didn’t even get to do it.
Whatever Anet has in mind, they might want to pick up the pace a bit…Halloween is not far off, and the Mad King might not be pleased to find his favorite city destroyed when he didn’t do the destroying.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an event to top the Mursaat Rally. That one was killer…
The Risen could try evolving into Daleks…compare “This one, kill!” with “EX-TER-MIN-ATE!!!”
Dang, when I clicked on this thread I thought Anet was gonna provide us with hats and scarves ala Tom Baker’s Fourth Doctor.
Lovecraft Thrall, my PvP necro from GW1, has been reincarnated as a Charr necromancer in GW2.
Grenth has a weird sense of humor.
I think the only official word so far was that it’s being looked into. I imagine it’s a complex thing to fix, but we are hoping to hear more soon.
How do they behave? Like this.
I’ve halted all PS progress on all my characters (my mesmer doesn’t have to worry, she’s done) until this is sorted out.
I hadn’t realized how drastic these changes really were until yesterday, when I started trying to play through the last stage of the PS on my ranger. What used to be the last stage, anyhow.
I’m not sure how a brand-new player would perceive the flip-flopping of chapters 7 and 8 but for me it was jarring. “Estate of Decay” is one of my favorite instances in the game, but before getting to it I gotta help Trehearne poke Zhaitan in the eye…and then Orr is cleansed? What’s the point of kicking him in the tummy, then? Anticlimactic, to say the least.
It seems to me that “The Source of Orr” worked much better in its original place, right before you took to fight to Zhaitan. Have we had a red post or other indication yet why they felt this change was necessary?
Actually, I haven’t heard him since the Feature Patch dropped last week…did he not waddle quickly enough during one of Teq’s attacks?
Welcome back Gaile, we missed you.
Now can we have CM events (konga!) at Lion’s Arch again, like the ones we had in the days of yore (GW1)? And please, do not forget EU servers
That would be wonderful…I miss those times with Froggy. Welcome back!
I bet all the profession forums have a “Vee Wee”. I confess I had no idea he existed until I came here last week, because I want to to WvW with my senior engineer. And yes, I’ve learned stuff.
So thanks from me as well, Vee Wee. Wahoo!!!
I always preferred Forgal and Sieran more. I never really understood the fascination with Tybalt. He was a funny character, maybe a bit too funny, especially during missions, and that made him feel out of place in the entire OoW motif for me, and that threw me off the OoW storyline a bit. It didn’t make it bad, just off.
Forgal’s and Sieran’s storylines were a bit more understandable, being a gruff soldier and excitable academic respectively. Tybalt’s, on the other hand, felt like a dollop of Whedonverse landed in Tyria. Again, not bad, but it feel like a game of “One of these things is not like the other…”
Well that’s totally objective. It’s being different that makes Tybalt interesting for me and Forgal fits the mold of mentor best. I think Sieran is the worst mentor as she is really bad at her job. Some one who teaches you shouldn’t behave like a 3 year old (spoken in human years of course) and she knows less about tyrian history than I do. Granted I witnessed it… but still.
With Forgal and especially Tybalt two of the better written characters in the personal storyline found their untimely demise. With Sieran I was glad she was gone, one horribly written Sylvari less too annoy me.
Tybalt is the first smiling Charr I’ve encountered. And despite his “little moments” he is pretty good at the OoW gig. Note how quickly he shushes the PC at their first meeting ("What part of “secret society” don’t you understand?" or something to that effect). I’m so fond of him one of my engineers is permanently stalled at “Claghwr Island” because I can’t bear to lose him again.
Coming this Halloween to the Living World: “Frands and Madness: The Search for Vee Wee.”
Vee Wee’s so enthusiastic and helpful. I’ve got two engineers and I managed to pick up a thing or two I didn’t know from that post.
If you already started the story then ‘Greatest Fear’ happens. If you haven’t then who knows? That’s why we are all waiting for a dev to say something.
There is a livestream tomorrow, I think. Perhaps they will explain?
