Guardians of the Vault [GotV] and Guíld of Dívíne Soldíers [GoDS]

I just wanna know if he says “Wahoo!” when he exits a room in real life.
Everything I’ve learned about the centaurs, I’ve learned from Modnir Ulgoth:
“You cannot defeat me! I am too strong!”
“You will die drowning in your own blood!”
“I will break ALL of your bones!”
“Hahahahahahahaha!!!”
Sorry, this isn’t really adding to the conversation. I just get such a kick out of MU and his cheesy villain dialogue. Whoever that voice actor is, he nails it.
Very much in favor of this, and told my guild leader to go for it!
Option 1. They watch the forums, they know what people are concerned about.
Well.
I have been wading through these forums, the reddit, and other sources trying to figure out just what the hell happened this week. Real life issues have kept me from devoting more than the barest attention to GW2, and it seems a lot’s gone down.
I’m not sure whether it’s good or bad, but this thread is definitely a step in the right direction. As soon as things calm down here on the home front, I’ll also try to provide some helpful feedback. It’s the least I can do for this game I’m so attached to.
And in the meantime…yeah, keep talking.
I guess it depends on what your favorite in-game activities are. I love experimenting with builds, seeing what this profession or that can do in different situations, and exploring. So I’m a confirmed alt-aholic.
Taimi is trembling, and Braham’s looking over his shoulder…I’m afraid she’s going to be in danger this time—Inquest trouble, from the looks of it.
Also, what appear to be Vigil soldiers glancing up as everything goes dark, so Mordy’s still got the magical munchies.
I have a sneaking suspicion we need Rurik himself to fix this, and the sword was fully aware of that, opening a portal to the underworld because it is trying to return to its rightful owner. So within the next few weeks we will travel there ourselves to get Rytlock back, only to meet Rurik, who will probably mention the PC’s similarities to the GW1 PC, and help us. Of course this also means we have to probably make a deal with Grenth to get this done, and there’s no telling what he’ll want in exchange.
All of my characters have been returning the dead (the “everyone, COME!!!”) variety found in Orr and elsewhere) to Grenth where they belong. What more could he possibly want?
I’m good with it, I know I’m really “the boss”. Although Rytlock doesn’t seem to understand what “wait a minute” means.
Rytlock and the other NPC’s took the statue down, my thief kept the menders away with much help from good ol’ Rox.
My concern is that this will be his address to the summit:
“This will not end well.”
At that point (after all the trouble I went through to convince the leaders to come), I’ll probably kill him myself.
Only if you leave your car windows down and a thunderstorm passes through…oh, wait, you’re talking about something different.
I used to have a real problem with the charr running animation, but then a guildmate pointed out that they look like “an excited cat running after a toy”.
Now I love it.
I did it (for the third time) on my thief last night…testing out a build I found elsewhere on this forum, and got a pleasant shock. She survived better than either my mesmer or my warrior. Thieves’ Guild when the boss’ shield was down (every little bit helps, as the old lady said when she peed in the sea), constant dodging, blind on those pesky wolves, and condition damage. She got downed a couple of times, but overall her performance was much better than the first two runs.
I discovered something else that others have mentioned; Marjory and Kasmeer will disappear whether you get downed or not. So whatever you do, don’t depend on them.
Interesting and informative, thanks for sharing. A guildmate and I are fond of P/P but I haven’t worked much with my thief until recently. Would it be feasible to adapt this build for PvE?
It might be best to have us rez on the wall by the arrow cart, if possible. Not sure why that’s not the case in the first place.
I just did it on my warrior, but did not have the PS selected, but the LS. My fault, I wasn’t paying attention. However, I got no warning that progress would not be saved.
Working as intended, or should I submit a bug report?
Didn’t have any problems on my mesmer, but i wore mixed zerker and pvt gear, that helped a lot
Greatsword 5 turned out to be a handy knockback to get the wolves away from the minions.
That was my mesmer’s biggest asset, along with Feedback on the boss when its shielding was down. My biggest problem to start with was that the minion’s weren’t spawning with Marjory out of the picture. Exiting the instance and starting again seemed to fix that. She and Kasmeer still meandered away to have a quiet moment, but I and the minions finished the job.
I will have to re-read “What Scarlet Saw”…but yeah, it’s troubling. And I strongly suspect somebody at Anet is an H. P. Lovecraft fan.
I’d say it’s intended. They know the curious are going to use the aspects to try and get past the boundaries, so they deliberately left a few things around for us to come here and speculate about.
Working as intended.
Having seen much worse writing in games (Diablo 3, anyone?), I am withholding judgement until we see further developments in Season 2. Retconning is a fact in this field, and I’ll need to see more of how the Anet team handles it before I can judge it fairly. It’s never going to be possible for them to please everybody, after all.
I screamed “CTHULHU FHTAGN” into guild chat while that was going on, just to get into the spirit of things.
No bubble to burst, Ronin. “I don’t like being right” means just that. I was hoping I was wrong.
That aside, I found it pretty affecting…especially when the “the boss” and Kasmeer break the news to the rest of DE Junior.
What’s eerie is that I made exactly this prediction to my guild last night.
I don’t like being right about this.
Wait until Maj and Kas bug out and you can’t finish it, that’s the BEST part -_-
I just /bugged this in game, very irritating.
I wish her well. CMing for a major MMO must be one challenging job.
As I type there is a small crowd gathered at Ulta Metamagicals WP. If popcorn existed in the game, we’d be munching it.
A Zephyrite NPC was explaining to some children (when the Sanctum was still around) that the dragons are very much like the tides. They’re disinterested in the people they displace and destroy as they search for magical sustenance. Given the terrifying level of their power, this gives them an almost Lovecraftian quality.
At the same time, we know from the PS that Zhaitan at least was aware of the Pact rising against him, and moved to destroy it. So at times they do take an interest in the races of Tyria, if self-preservation becomes a factor.
I’m not completely clear on Mordemoth, however. Didn’t That Shaman post a datamined pic of a corrupted wolf/hound of some sort?
Is it me, or is there a real element of horror being introduced this time out? These insidious vines slowly appearing, the way they’re being shown in the teaser to attack and strangle people…it has an almost Lovecraftian feel to it.
And for some reason I’m sharply reminded of the movie version of Stephen King’s The Mist.
As I said earlier, lovin’ it.
If the new map is right, Mordy has a very long reach indeed…
Every time my mesmer walks up to Ogden he makes some kind of grumpy remark about how she should be off slaying a dragon. So much for the wisdom of the elder heroes of Tyria.
I figure at least some of the waypoints will have to be taken offline, as the new book in the Priory says (why else would the book be there, if not to warn us?). What Anet may implement is a dynamic event of some sort…“stop the vine threatening X waypoint before it disables it”.
Expect waypoints near major world events and champs to be kept relatively free of vine activity.
Wondering about this, in light of the beginning of S2 and what I expect to be some kind of calamity overtaking the waypoint system. The probes are still in-game, but all the ones I’ve seen are “self-destructed”. The only “live” one I’ve seen was in a PS instance, and I’d assumed that to be a mistake.
As they seem to have served their purpose (and their creator is dead), you’d think there was no more reason for them to be in the game, self-destructed or otherwise. But there they are. Why?
Apparently they don’t even need to patch the game for this. At least I did not notice my launcher downloading anything.
I think they already did, and just called it “fixed a server crash”.
That’s not what I meant. Since yesterday some new vines appeared, but my launcher did not have to download any new files. That would mean that there is a trigger (servertime or whatever) in game and that they don’t need to patch in every change manually. That would be nice, because every patch means that people have to relog – which is bad in WvW for example. I could be wrong there, though.
Oh, I agree. And I think you’re right, I just figured all this was patched into the game during the S2 launch or shortly after, and now is gradually being activated as you say. And I love it.
EDIT: Take care if you travel to Fort Salma to investigate matters, friends. My engineer ported there and immediately was trapped by the vine “strangling” the waypoint. Fortunately Tippi Kaboom is an engineer who feels everything can be solved with explosions, and freed herself with Jump Shot.

The shattered remains of the thumpers, by the way, are still in the game. Kinda makes you wonder, doesn’kitten
…and mind you, I’m not sure how long it’s been the case. But I decided to visit the three refugee camps that were set up for LA citizens, and I realized that Ellen Kiel’s commandeered Aetherblade ship was no longer parked over the OoW headquarters in Bloodtide Coast.
I’ll have to double-check, but seems like she’s somewhere in LA now. But where’s her ship?
Do you mean all the “code talk” you hear around Prosperity? I thought that was actual bandits—such as the ones who make up a third of the Sinister Triad over in Brisban. Since the Inquest is already running amok in Dry Top, it makes sense for the bandits to have spilled over into the region too.
Like the lvl 80 champion bandits hiding a gateway in their fort just North of Tangle Root?
Yes, like them.
There was also Ventari and his followers in the Maguuma that planted and founded the Pale Tree.
Would be an interesting twist if this centaur turns out to be an ally offering help in protecting the Pale Tree… say, from an evil corrupted Nightmare Tree which is the source of the vines (because as we know from sylvari personal story, there’s more than one sylvari Tree in Tyria).
Personally I’m wondering if the Centaurs are the bandits whom the citizens of Prosperity pay dues for in exchange for supplies. However, it would also be understandable that a tribe catering to Ventari’s teachings could build up and thrive in the span of 250 years.
I just hope they’re not so connected with the plot and more of civilizations established in what is believed to be desserts. You know… nomads.

Since the centaur is marked as a non-aggressive “Mysterious Figure” who is only observing, I’m hoping that means he’s a friendly.
I say give ’em time. I and others have argued against the pandering to shippers and politically correct pressure groups, but DE Junior is still entertaining. Rox is my personal favorite, she seems to be the most levelheaded of them.
Is anybody besides me pausing to check every single WP in the gameworld, regardless of where it is?
No, you can still use ’em…for now.
Note how there is vines entangling around a vigil/pact outpost in a green, grassy area.
An area like that isn’t that close to drytop at all…
Maguuma is a mix of deserts and jungles very close to each other.
True, but pause the video and note the mountains in the background. That’s Timberline, without a doubt, and as soon as possible I’m gonna head out there and start looking around for clues. Lovin’ this!
I know we’re still processing the information, but I’m a mite surprised that no one’s remarked on the centaur at the beginning of the clip.
Last night I did notice that anytime I used an aspect crystal there was a “hitch” in the animation…nothing really major, but noticeable. Could that be part of this?
Since the area we’re now venturing into is close to the site of Glint’s death, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some or all of them turn up later into Season Two. It may not be a happy reunion, though.
We are across the world from Glints Death. She died in the crystal desert (in the middle of the branded area in the desert), we are in the Maguuma wastes.
I should have realized that, I’ve read Edge of Destiny twice. Not sure where I got the idea, maybe from listening to the displaced Zephyrites talk about her corpse.

Someone on reddit a day or so ago was talking about a hidden room near the base of the pale tree that had suddenly changed colours to black and red as if it was corrupted. I assume he meant the hidden sauna which you get to via the northern lake, but I haven’t been to check myself yet.
I think I found this sauna, but it doesn’t look corrupted. If we’re talking about the same place it has a small waterfall with what appear to be several young weirwood trees in it.
No faces carved in ’em, though.
Since Aerin gets sent to the compost heap staightaway, I doubt he’s the main villain this time out. More likely a patsy.
