I’m surprised by OP.
It’s one of not many constructive OP posts that actually nailed important stuff here.
People may not really noticed it, but there aren’t many West MMORPGs.
Most of the Western players are kind of used to mechanics and values presented in Korean MMOs which are published on this side of the globe.
Unfortunately, those MMOs are kind of stressful. You have to grind, grind more. Level up. In 99% of Korean MMO cases, you’re directed with only one path to walk. You have no variety of weapons here. Leveling is bottlenecked as well. You change areas and zones and you still hit upon same quests – kill X [MobName] in [AreaName].
Gaining in game currency is also bottlenecked to only grinding it and selling to NPC.
GW2 actually has none of those aspects. Each Quest area(Hearts) provide multiple ways to complete them. Some are so unusual, that makes it actually fun, completing them.
Examples:
In Ebonhawke, you talk to NPCs and tell them that they’re stupid.
Or in Metrica Province, you fight against other players with little golems.
In some other map, you are stealthed and have to sneak past Charr Assassin’s and pop some stuff.
Another thing is weapon + skill system.
I feel not being forced to buy/use Razor Naga(+16 buttons) for exclusive binds, so I will be faster and maybe better thanks to that than others in pvp.
A normal office keyboard + mouse will do perfectly fine.
Another thing – no p2w shop.
I am surprised at many people raging at this title, but in most cases I find them actually never even touching it.
I don’t know if it’s the cause of pure hate or just a simple – I cannot afford to purchase GW2.
Like someone already has pointed it out – haters and flamers are a daily bread on every game’s forums.
Imma marry my Nintendo DS.
Just buff their damage so they don’t have to stealth that much and die in 3 hits.
Seriously try actually playing theif in wvw and see for yourself how hard it actually is.
I kind of find it amusing how everyone cry over thief which is the most squishy with decent damage class.
I didn’t bother to read, since 3 long posts are probably one of those “game isn’t developing the way I want”.
But it’s nice to see that there are people in GW2 who feel a need to announce their “I quit” thingie.
Runes: Perplexity or torment
Sigils – 1 superior sigil of tormenting
Gear/weapons/accs – rabid
Trait – 0/0/6/2/6

my idea about condition build for thief.
3) More Skills (easiest done by adding more Weapons, old as like new ones to Classes)
/ I would debate here. In most games, new skills mostly bring imbalance to classes. I would rather priority a rework on some skills and Runes(like perplexity)
4) More new explorable Maps, theres still so much left of Tyria, that is unexplorable currently and then there’s still Cantha, Elona and unknown Continents, like Utopia…
/ I agree on this point. I believe it would be around the time to introduce new maps and new content regarding another Elder Dragon.
6) 64BIT Client !!!
/ Debatable. 32bit client is very well optimized both for Intel and AMD CPUs. RAM Usage and Graphic Card usage are also optimized pretty well. I doubt that 64bit client would bring any visible performance improvement.
7) Direct X11 Support !!!
/ Not sure if bringing Tessellation into GW2 would change much except performance drop. If you want to force your GPU and increase the quality I recommend SweetFX.
8) Housing
/ useless. I have seen it already in other games which was rich as Sims and it’s totally useless.
9) Guild Halls/Fortresses/Towns and in general alot of Guild Improvements
/ I +1 this. Moreover I would also add a Vanarch system including GvG(Just like in TERA Online) and specific Rating + reward system.
14) Reward Tracks for PvE
[b]/ not sure what you have on your mind, but achievement system already is filled with PvE reward system. You also got a Reward Tracker to HotM matches.
16) New playable Races, like Tengus or redesigned Largos
/ that would soon enough bring an argument to add Skritt, Quaggans and other races to be playable. I would rather vote for adding a content and rich story regarding those races.
17) More Interactivity with the whole Game World, also to in regard of Character Movement and also in general with the Environment (destructable things for example)
/ nothing’s wrong with character movement, but making environment richer is a good idea. I would vote for adding specific events like in Human territories, where Centaurs would make raids and destroy towns and Cities. Later, players would have to rebuild them and get proper reward for it. Fort Salma in Kessax Hills has NPC houses which can be damaged/destroyed and you can rebuild them. Applying it to whole world + giving a little improvement + rewards would be awesome.
18) Constant adding of new dynamic Events in all maps
/ not so sure. I find the amount of dynamic Events to be sufficient. If you would focus on them, then there is a big chance that you would barely touch any Heart Quests in most of the areas.
19) Redesign of the Borderlands to 3 seperate different maps, improving WvW with some of the EotM features, adding more rewards for Badges of Honor
/ I +1 this one. Having only 3 different maps – Eternal Battleground, Borderlands and Obsidian Sanctum is a bit not enough. If it comes to Badges of Honor – I recommend to add more items and NPCs which would put this currency in more use. At the moment it kinda has no value.
22) Add Mounts and new features that are based around them
[b]/ I’ll say that they’re useless. We do have waypoints, yes, but also all classes have Speed boosting skills, passives, or traits. It would make stuff prettier, but it’s time consuming and I’ll rather focus on content that would make playing more enjoyable than making afk time look better.
32) Fix of all the WvW Hacks
/ there are any?
I kinda have brought my poi regarding your ideas. The ones I didn’t list, either I had no opinion at all, or simply agreed totally.
inb4 someone will say that Black Lion Chest Keys can be acquired only via Gem Store.
I failed to kill tequatl only 3 times in past 2 months while doing it every single day.
And fails were based on noobs on turrets or during defense of Batteries and Megalaser.Even if Tequatl will bug and disappear, he’s even more easier to kill.
Now tell me, how Tequatl is hard to kill so I can laugh more.
Don’t think OP mentioned anything about Teq being hard to kill…?
I am trying to think back when Teq was new and I don’t remeber any parts where Teq had any bugs becouse they didn’t test to kill it. Most annoying thing is the Turret part though and that could be becouse they didn’t test to kill it… but I don’t think that would have made any difference… And is the Turret greifing fixed now?
“they do need to kill it to see whether it is killable” – in my opinion it is implying that he’s difficult to kill.
Turret afk part isn’t an issue, because you get kicked out from it after 15 sec or so while doing nothing and holding it.
Therefore I honestly see no point in discussing Tequatl, since it has one bug which happens sometimes and yet it’s not an issue at all.
I’ll even say it’s even more convenient that way to succeed to kill it

Mounts?
Another money sink which will please kids for next 5 mins.
I’ll rather vote for new achievements and Jumping Puzzle stuff.
Another thing – you don’t need anything else beyond swiftness.
Anet pls pls nerf it…….REALLY…not.
Tequatl today, 13:30, kthx.
Tp is maintained by players, why would A-Net try to alter something within it?
If you have only one character, buying them is probably a good option. Buying them on 20 or more characters…not necessarily as good an option.
Not if you want ascended armor or a legendary.
They gave the option to buy it for people who don’t like PvE. Not to make PvE players spend gold on it for no real reason.
point is simple. There is an alternative, which isn’t expensive.
I’m playing a thief with my own custom trait build which is nothing close to some meta wannabe most people use and think they’ll win.
Therefore I have no use for any single new trait for Grandmaster.
I understand that for some people and some classes 2 GM new traits are perfect for their build and playstyle – but is there really a need for all 4 per character?
Also, if someone does play smart in pve, he’ll farm that 3gold much faster than it takes to convince people to take the Temple.
Temple of Balthazar is the only one which is wanted by most players, due to Obsidian Shards in Karma NPC.
I see all maps to be pretty lively. The only train runs that have died is in Frostgorge Sound. Queensdale is the same, other maps as well. Orr is lively too.
And saying tha trains aren’t profitable….just lol. I earn a lot in QD.
Regarding new traits – you can buy them, no one forces you to do temple.
5 quests for daily out of 10 has to be done to finish daily
- Recycler
- Daily Events
- Leveler
- Daily Gatherer
- Condition Applier
tell me, why QQ about Orrian or WvW daily quest within?
btw regarding focus we always focus the server that is the strongest as they are the biggest threat to us
Yeah sure.
Now I know why after getting roflrolled by Deso why SFR blocked it from Baruch :v
More than enough.
I’m doing it only with one 1 HS.
bad thieves, bad thieves, lowest HP pool, most squishy class in game and you dare to kill?
That should be ban worthy.
I rather be a hated bad with D/P mostly winning than some respected prO mostly losing.
Did you miss the part where steal is an instant gap close, boon sharing/stripping machine that dazes and regenerates initiative? Not to mention the stolen skill extremely useful (bar engi). That’s enough utility for a single skill. It’s only a ‘fire-and-forget’ skill to the bad thieves, but in the hands of a good player it’s extremely devastating.
yeah, boons, dazes, regen etc etc
all of that available under only one trait build.
W/o it?
Fire and forget.
Don’t tell me you’re assuming that only good players are using one trait line just to buff up 1 skill and the rest are just bad?
so can any one please explain why SA is considered troll/cheesy because i don’t understand what the issue is with it.
because other classes believe that thief should be a free kill, and fast to add. And SA gives you some nice traits, like Stealth on Steal(range self pull +stealth) and 1 sec more stealth on every upkeep(SR instead of basic 10sec will give you 15sec)
one way or another, there is always something they complain about.
Full DA is baddie because BS hits like a truck – me no liek
Full Trickery is a baddie because condi eats so gut – me no liek
20/full SA is a baddie because me struggle moar – me no liek
etc etc etc.
I recommend to ignore those mad nabs and roll however you want.
Developers gave a possibility to every player to roll their own class however they want.
If you want, go strip yourself of traits or gear and run only with weapons.
100% there will be mad people soon enough.
Increase capacity of players on the same map(Sparkfly fen for example) + increase Tequatl’s HP/Toughness or w/e.
For me, world bosses like Tequatl are way too easy.
GW2 forum mentality regarding Thief builds:
D/D – u so cool, because you haz only 3 skills that can do something, but nab when u 10k crit bs on me.
D/P – noooooob, u use all 5 skills, y u perma kiss my back, u kill me w/o bs, 24/7 stealth, nab, l2p, /quit
that’s what I read in thief forum all the time.
I’m not surprised why people choose D/P over D/D.
D/D should be a full power build which is eating people alive if they don’t kite and BS should be an option for quick come in and get out with a kill from groups.
Unfortunately, D/D is broken and and therefore won’t be favored.
10k threads about the same thing….can’t stick to one thread?
leave daggers and pistols on the sides……finally a game with side sheathe option for small weapons
Coming soon a New Warrior Complain!
I’m a warrior and I can’t kill warriors because they’re too OP. Nerf pls.
x0x0×0×0x0
crit immunity – it’s funny if it’s against thief.
Question is, which trait has higher priority.
Thief 100% crit chance while in stealth, or elementalist’s u can’t crit me.
so, warrior is qqing about thieves but doesn’t even point out what is there to qq about.
start with stealth and you deserve a perma ignore.
And what happens to the valkyrie wvw backstab thieves? Nearly all dmg comes from backstab(with hiddenkiller) as a 100% crit and to some extend cnd and autohit.
The power stays the same, but your crit dmg will be lower, so in a 100% crit scenario you will deal less backstab dmg excatly as your crit dmg will sink. That means you do with 100% crit dmg 8000 dmg and after that you have maybe 70% and deal 5600 dmg with backstab. Is this accurate or am i wrong cause you will always crit with backstab and if everything is in that moment the same except the crit dmg you will lose a lot.
you can always spam stealth + HS.
It’s even ranged <3
The Elder Scrolls Online will have a multitude of public dungeons within Cyrodiil, which will feature quests, bosses, and loot. Unlike dungeons in the safe PvE areas of the game, however, anyone can enter these dungeons, including your enemies! Imagine working your way with a friend through the bowels of some ancient crypt, only to find a small group from an enemy alliance preparing to kill a boss at the end. There are few things more satisfying than teaming up with a PvE boss to take down a group of players
I saw it already in Aion.
You know how it looks like?
Dominating faction will hold weak faction out of the boss room, while they’re killing the boss.
In the end, statistically it’ll look like this
– your faction will manage to kill certain boss maybe 2-3 times for half a year, while the other faction will be full of loot from that boss.
Balanced factions? Haven’t seen a game where balance in factions was kept for a long time. It’s players mentality – I cba to go to zergfest and gain middle finger from that boss anyway, i.e. I skip it.^n players that think the same or very similar way.
You already lose a decent number on your side, or enemy does.
So factions for pve stuff may look nice, but in the end it’s broken.
whenever I end up in skyhammer I switch to my ranger and point blank shot everyone. out of the map.
I wonder how they feel after being thrown outside of the map for 5th time in the row.
o.o
and that’s what I mean.
Till I was thinking that condi and power builds were balanced. Maybe not on all classes, but still, they were.
Now it’s a matter of, who will melt down faster while under conditions.
Heck, I will see loads of downed players fighting each other….
stupid.
looks like it’s time to re-trait chars into full def. Run around and shout
- Lol, I’m immortal~nana nana~
so as summary,
Age of Condition ’hoes shall begin soon.
Enjoy being kited and DoT’ed to death.
I wonder if we have a base ferocity at all and if so how high it is.
Do you guys know anything about that?
it’s mentioned that all classes start with 0 points in ferocity.
Instead of adding any other weapon to Thief class, I would rather want some skills to be reworked.
D/D – Death Blossom + Dancing Dagger rework – making those skills being useful in combat, both pvp and pve.
P/X/P – Increase PvE damage(it’s single target ffs)
Shortbow – Increase speed of aoe skills(even mobs dodge them), Increase PvE damage of Auto Attack.
GW2 Magic Find system is very similar to Diablo 3 Magic Find system.
I’m sure that formulas for base drop rates differ from both titles, but the increase work pretty much the same.
If someone has played D3 with Magic Find set i.e. ~300% then he can tell the difference between 0 and 300% chance on Magic Find.
It also applies to GW2.
Such system is designed to farming – the more you farm the richer you get in less time.
You can make tests yourselves.
Get someone with less than 50% magic find farm a certain spot for an hour or two and then do it yourself with 100% or more magic find.
Then compare the loots.
I myself have 60% atm, and I see the difference when I had around 10% and how it is now.
I’m used very much to Magic Find, RNG systems, and I do feel sometimes even that silly 10% difference.
thieves in spvp :v
let’s skip how unbalanced match making in spvp is…
There is more to the game than just pvp, there are actually players who enjoy simple pve, and some that even enjoy stacking 25 bleed on a pve crowd with a quick blossom spam and stealth for initiative, then goin stealth and watching them drop like flies… nerfing all the thiefs skills for pvp spikes would not impress the pve types
Granted for pve 25 stacks of bleed is usually overkill, and most large crowds are dead by 15, but its still fun to try… and the numbers fly like crazy, even not running full conditions..
so you did put 25 stacks of bleed on a normal mob and it’s still alive, while on the other hand you would kill it faster with auto attack….just great. :|
D/D – Backstab combo
D/P – Blind combo
both weapon sets are effective if used properly.
Stopped reading after mentioning ESO.
i.e. another “Everyone are better than me, so this game is utterly bad”
(edited by Tao.5096)
True. Sadly there is no Thief you can trust. In WWW they’re quite a big trouble for my Ranger…
Y’know what? Thief Initiative should be Ranger’s!
And then, Thieves should get back GW1’s Assassin chain-skill methood, as well as Warriors should get back the adrenaline-building skill useages instead of stupid CDs.Sorry if I were rude, but … just try to play Ranger versus anyone who isn’t braindead.
I’ve heard that GC Ranger is not OP.
trolololol
Like NinjaEd said actually.
I went a full GC Thief.
2k crits from auto attack is nice.
12~15k crit from Backstab is nice.
But being roflrolled in less than 2 seconds isn’t nice.
Some people simply don’t understand that in Thief class, the more someone focus on damage, the more squishier he becomes.
And if you can’t hit a GC thief even once….then sorry, you have to work harder on your own tactics.
I’ve heard that condition builds are not OP now.
Boost Perplex pls.
/sarcasm off
Tell me how good healing and stealth is vs warrior who knock you down for almost 10 seconds?
In the mean time he does stack various debuffs on you and pop boons on himself.Come on, I want a clear solution vs such situation which isn’t rare, it is quite frequent.
Shortbow 3, Infiltrator’s Signet, Shadowstep, Black Powder, dodge rolls.
You’ll only ever get “knocked down for 10 seconds” if you’re standing still because your dog just chewed through your keyboard cable and someone punched a hole in your monitor so you can’t actually see what’s going on ingame.
what makes you think everyone run the same build?
It’s not like we can swap certain utility setups with flick of a finger.
And on the other hand for warrior is to switch weapons i.e. 1sec.
and if he manages to knock you down once, he can lock you down.
I’m confused is this thread about boobs or assassins ?
Boobysins
If these people who claim thief to be OP ever played a thief, they would realize that trying to enter the fight in sPvP while capping a point that has a 2v2 or 3v3 going on can be deadly. We have stealth and evades so we can get away from dying so easily!!! If we did not have these skills we would surely be KO’d in seconds from any class that has some sort of zerker cc or conditions even! Most of our condition removal is in stealth!
I have a tendency to tell each Warrior which says that Thief is OP to reroll something else, because he’s beyond saving.
I have an 80 Thief, an 80 Warrior, and close to getting my Elementalist to 80.
Thief is BY FAR the easiest class of these three to play in PvP. The QQ is sound. I suggest YOU try playing a class that doesn’t have two reliable escapes on hand at nearly all times, and then tell me thieves aren’t an uphill fight from the get go.
The biggest culprit is the asinine amount of healing Thieves get while in stealth. This wouldn’t be too much a problem if they didn’t also have an abundant access to blinds as well. There have been many times I dropped a thief (and have been dropped) to 10% health just to regen most of it back in little time, and continue fighting while his opponent is still heavily hurt.
really?
