Porting from one Engine to another wouldn’t take as much time as many believe.
With proper development team – it’s possible in 1~2 years at most.

As someone has mentioned – some systems can be imported.
Some such as targeting system etc probably would have to be coded again.

Thing is, that graphic wise it won’t change.
UE4 may give better lightings, shadows etc, but models will stay the same pretty much.

But, question one could ask – if it’s worthy.

In my opinion – no.

Even if it would take 1 year to make Gw2 work on UE4 it’s still a cash and time sink.

Would rather spend those resources on developing further the current custom engine.
Make a whole dedicated team sit in one room, give them current engine and polish it.

Just because it won’t be named Unreal Engine 4 or CryEngine 3/4, doesn’t mean it has to be bad.

It’s also good to give a notice – most custom engine made games show much better performance at the same or very similar image quality as those UE/CE engines.

Difference here is advertising.

That’s the dumbest thing Ive ever read. You ever hear of the wisdom of the crowd and markets? No a small group of people do not generally know better then the consensus opinion of many people. Especially when the many play the actual product GW2 pvp way more then these developers do. I await your brain dead response. I don’t know who you think these developers are they are all like 25 year old kids outside of programming I don’t know why you would think they know more about what makes good game play then any other gamer. I know they are charged with making the game so that gives them final say but if they wanted a good game they should be listening to consensus opinions more. They seem arrogant to me.

This mindset is terrible.

How do you know they’re better than us? Where do I get that certainty? From my perspective all the recent changes were very panicky and reactionary.

Irrelevant, the game I brought up as an example is F2P as well. And F2P doesn’t neccesarily mean it has to be mediocre.

F2P is an indicator where Publisher(Anet/NCSoft) doesn’t have to treat customer opinion as something relevant. It’s true that F2P should be a Free Gameplay with available microtransactions which purpose is to maintain costs for employment, hardware and further development.

Doesn’t change the fact that F2P by overall 90% if not more cases, show that customer’s opinion is the last thing which is cared about.

Sure, Riot did succeed by having good communication with customers – and I don’t even count eSport in this matter but whole game and it’s issues.

We had Profession Balance forum which was answered frequently by developers.
I personally liked it very much – candy for an eye and results were shown in game as well.
Of course I won’t deny that it wasn’t perfect or on the level to please majority.
And obviously it had it’s own issues.
But overall PvP even as Ranked was much better – it was fun, and despite some upsides and downs, the diversity in builds was great and you could not only see but feel that there is more for example to Engineer than P/S rabid or ZerkRifle.
Same was with MediGuard, or even Ele, where Staff or S/F was a frequent sight.

Right now, not only PvP is shaved to 1 spec – lucky 2 – per class, but also toxicity is increasing more and more – and that was before F2P release.

By that, it’s somehow sad the state PvP is in.
After removal of Profession Balance and lack of dev communication with playerbase, the balances were really jumpy – and it started to be annoying after last year’s SoloQ and TeamQ merge patch.

Either certain specs receive a massive boost or massive nerf.
Explanations such as – Reducing Locust Swarm(Necro) skill cast time from 1 second to 1/2 second for mobility increase.

And so on and so on.

Despite Anet’s hype over eSport, they don’t want to accept the fact that without proper communication and build/skill testings along with community, without proper ingame and outside of the game advertising – eSport in Gw2 is like internal playground which won’t pretty much live long I suspect.

For example, just like there were rage threads with 4x ele + thief as meta.
I honestly don’t care if a team has 5 thieves, 5 eles, 3 necros, 4 guardians etc.
People should play what they like and how they like, and match outcomes should be decided by personal skill and knowledge of the game.

But here we had a problem not with personal skill but – I’ll use that word which isn’t totally correct – abusement of the game mechanics.

And I’m sure, that if community had a hand in balancing the classes and certain specs, such outcome would be nearly impossible.

Even such a game like D3, despite being PvE all the way, repetitive like hell with grind purpose, there are Test Realms where people nail gamebreaking bugs before it goes live. Of course there are those who come after and get fixed as well, but like now with HoT, instead of 10 patches with class fixes – we could have 3, which would rather be really unexpected and rare to come by?

It isn’t F2P, I’ve bought two boxes and I demand quality as customer.

NCSoft taught me that F2P means F2P.
If you play or not is your business.
If you paid for something then you get it, if not, then refund or whatever.
So far, you got the game, you got the content.

PvP and WvW content regardless of Expansion purchase is granted to both pre-f2p Core game owners, HoT owners or F2P account owners.

Like it or not – for me, Anet since 2015 is behaving more and more like NCSoft.

Actually it’s other amulets that need changing. There is basically only 3 real amulet choices: Marauder for DPS, Celestial for brawlers and Rabid(or whatever) for Condition damage, though celestial can work with that too with might stacking.

The problem is that there isn’t a single amulet that offers both vitality and toughness coupled with good offensive stats (either power/ferocity/precision or condition damage/duration). Eles and Guardians ALWAYS need +vitality. So, if they want a bit of toughness and a bit damage there is no choice but to take Celestial.

Because Soldier and Sentinel amulets don’t exist.

Those are bunker amulets. Not brawler ones.

you want Power/Precision/Ferocity/Vitality/Toughness amulet?

yeah right, it’s instant coffin nail for every other non condition amulet and spec.

There is a reason why Ele and Guard have such Health pools.

Maby take a look at the difference between DH and Ranger traps how long they are active.. DH traps are 2x longer active and half of the ranger traps can be dodged and they are instantly gone

Ranger has pulsing traps too, and those are the most important.

Secondary, Ranger’s traps have hilarious cooldowns when traited so even 1 minute of active trap makes no difference compared to DH.

Build for trapranger is also hilariously tanky.

DH is new from class perspective, but I’m telling you that it’s mechanics are older than Da Vinci’s Legend.

For DH traps to hit well enough, they have to give up on sustain – zerk/marauder amulet.

Heck, I’ll say that in 1v1, TrapRanger is harder to kill and more annoying because one trap with 12 sec cooldown will force you to use Condition Cleanse,Healing skill and dodge roll – if hard cc lands, you’ll have to stun break.

Yes, DH traps hit like a truck, but it’s exactly like many other game mechanics – noobproof mechanism.

Just like in the past, people chased Engineers in circles while eating all Bombs from Bomb kit and Turret attacks, just now people stand in traps and tryhard tanking them.

Because even if you dodge them they still go off.
And with go off i mean they still activate, creating a 3-4 big AOE dmg skill traps that you would NOT get into.. so you wait outside the node (getting shot by longbow during this ofc) and once you think yes they are gone you go back on node and BAM the DH just places them again before they where long time off cooldown even before you where there.

There is no conquest point which doesn’t have a structure to allow you to cover from ranged attacks.

Lot of traps and AoE skills have Pulsing ability within.

Fighting DH is like fighting TrapRanger.

Difference is damage type source, nothing else.

Yes it is, traps are nerfed already and 3 other classes have 5 mins traps too. deal with it. Or play OP revenant, chrono, scrapper or reaper.

Aah its the DH player Ragnarox that can only reply with L2p or your trash or whatever.. so much anger in this person to protect his class.. lol

Well yeah i mentioned DH as an example (and those traps are much stronger then the old traps builds we had), i dont get why Traps dont go on cooldown when they are triggered..

This is just having 2x the utilities.. its like warriors using all stances but the stances will activate once you go into combat, so once you go into combat they activate and you can activate them right after that again because the cooldown was already gone by then.

GW2 such balance

Traps are static.
Warrior is mobile.

And what makes you think that those traps are stronger than old ones(other classes)?

Because they deal spike damage?

Character Model Limit – this is a bottleneck of AMD CPUs for a long time.
Turn it to Lowest – it still shows quite a handful of character models, but when crowd is heavy it allows to keep stable fps(40+).

This game’s biggest problem is the lack of tester server(s). Anet do not test their ideas or new systems. As a result we see trillions of bugs and balance problems. And they do not listen players or their views. Still ranger has an idiotic pet system that can not be “disabled”. They panic, and nerf things to the center of the earth. Then invent a new idea/skill/system and ruin the balance to the worse. Solution?

Testing. Playing the game. Working with players and caring about their views. Many ranger players want to be archers. What do they have? Druid with healing ability. Many guardian players want to be tank/healer. What do they have? Dragon Hunter with traps.

See a problem here?

Well, obviously they didn’t delete Profession Balance forum because there is a better way to communicate with playerbase no?

the batwing brew isnt even the problem, its the kitten linseed oils! 5g a piece and you need 300!

That is hardly a problem. With time, the prices wil go down on linseed oils. People gather flax, GHs finish their needs for them.

The brew however will only rise in price once the supply dry up. Give us the recpie that we were supposed to get get in 2014, and it is no longer a problem.

As of now, the Nightfury is just unfriendly for most people. And if Anet wants it to be a goldsink, then increase the supply of brew. If ten times more make the shoulders, they will buy more on the TP. And the 15% goldsink will steal away far more money then if only 1/10 of the richest players were to do it.

And it would remove alot of heat from Anet.

Because it’s hard to add certain material item to the vendor and cash out 100% gold sink instead of 15% right?

I wouldn’t look forward to leagues – You will be disappointed.

It’s going to be a disaster with premades farming solo and duo players. It’s okay though guys, we have ‘Pro League’ – Let’s give 30 players some cash and ignore the 100s if not 1000s who wanted a Solo Arena.

According to their front page, PvP Arena population has increased by 130%+ compared to what was year ago.

I smell f2p here tho.

they used to sell armor skin pieces (and they are still on the market) but apparently it is a bust compared to outfits

i believe that they are not seperated out into pieces so that they don’t have to do the usual long and difficult clipping/quality test process on every combination of pieces

Because Outfit has a good quality and doesn’t clip.

Personally, since HoT launch it feels like the rewards shifted to “stuff” – mats, drops, etc. and strongly away from gold. Pre-HoT I always hated when a new player would ask “how do I get [item x]?” and the stock answer was always farm dungeons and buy on TP. Self-sufficiency (i.e. no or minimal TP) was so incredibly inefficient in comparison that it was practically non-viable. As someone who prefers at least the option of more self-sufficiency, the changes seem positive.

And thanks to that many expensive things become cheaper.

Some overhyped items did get more expensive, but hilariously expensive ones are cheaper.

Seems to me like a pve spec… actually most of these new specs looks like they where designed for pve….. (daredevil,bzerk etc)

daredevil in pvp is amazing. I can constantly dodge and keep spamming conditions, while rarely (if ever) being touched.

Channel vigor, get back endurance and heal
Signet of Agility, refill endurance bar instantly
Constant swiftness
Constant Vigor

And what you need to pwn such build is a Necro with Staff.

The real 4 main issues with the new WvW

There is only one issue with WvW.

Desert maps are completely deserted.

The irony of a huge map being named Desert Borderlands… full of tons of “stuff” most of the people I play WvW with don’t like.

That’s exactly what I realized a few mins ago while reading another thread. We’ve been pronouncing it wrong all along. It’s not desert as in a hot, dry, sandy place, it’s desert as in deserted… It’s the Desert-ed Borderlands… at least for now.

And that’s exactly what I meant.

Thus, I believe we should have another map – Alpine which is Single just like EB.

Desert map isn’t bad – in my opinion the only problem with it is that Keeps and towers are way too spacious.

Honestly, for me, the perfect option would be if:
- Blue had Alpine as Homeland
- Red had Desert as Homeland
- Green had Forest like map as Homeland

Plus, should rework EB a bit – make it bigger, add more objectives for Scouts etc. and make it more suited for blob exclusivity – since it already is and won’t change in fact.

The core of Reaper's Unbalance

All aoe shouts trigger on clones and pets, it’s clearly intentional. Also, reaper is good, but OP it is not. Big numbers do not translate to best dps, and there sustain is dependent on teammates pumping out boons to them. If anything that type of play should be encouraged and rewarded.

I suppose this poses a new question then. Is it healthy for this particular skill to function in such a manner? Ranger and Mesmer do not have an option in this particular encounter as they are FORCED into using their mechanics in a combative situation, instantly putting them at a disadvantage from the get go. What this means is that Rise is immediately inflated to a tier of reward =/= risk. That is a problem.

Poor mesmers.

I almost pity them.

no baseline fast hands means the trade offs when taking berserker have to be either: 5sec weapon swap, cleansing ire (& your whole sustain tree), or +20% damage. berserker just doesn’t give something that’s good enough to give one of those up.

sure gunflame is a cool suprise, but apart from WvW condi builds that’s all berserker has going for it.

i would rate it 4/10: nearly never worth using

berserker is good for rifle.

Pretty much you can use a bit weaker Kill shot every 4 sec.
And filling zerk mode bar takes around 2 sec.

Since you need Fast hands and Cleansing Ire, that means you would give up on berserker’s power trait line.

And having +20% more damage thanks to that and Kill shot every 4 sec would be kind of ridiculous no?

Especially taking into account that Berserker activation does break a stun, remove 1 condition, grant 1 stack of stability, grant additional 15% attack speed and give 3 sec of Quickness every 15 seconds.

When traited of course.

It may not suit every build or melee builds, but if it comes to rifle, you sure can play a Sniping game.

Afterall, Rifle’s Burst skill has 1500 range.

I doubt there will be any Necros now.

Death Shroud is poor dps wise compared to Reaper Shroud.

And condimancer has no place in PvP Arena.

Warrior on the other hand – Berserker seems to be a must and there is no traitline that could be on pair with Berserker.

Strength would be, but since Anet removed 100% crit chance on Burst trait from it’s GM line – not a chance.

Mesmers needed a nerf even before chrono, I play a mesmer in pvp myself and they are just wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to overpowered for 1 class, the dmg, cc, stealth and just overall traits and skills are way too unbalanced. I hope ANET already knows this and is working on it because for awhile now mesmers have been able to burst people down in matter of a few seconds.

PU Dire Mesmer is kitten on WvW since always.

Many people hoped Anet to balance it.

So far there were buffs.

I would think twice before hoping anything from Anet in case of balancing.

Cause for me it’s really like DH is actually what Ranger should be.

It does look cool and I was really surprised about one of the abilities that chunked down someone in ESL. (apologies for not know the exact name) True shot?

I guess that’s what something akin to Aimed Shot on WoW’s hunter would be like here. At 100% of your characters power (not divided between you and your pet like Ranger) makes for an impressive ability.

What I also mean is that skills on Ranger’s Longbow are somehow good – Stealth, Knockback.

But the whole damage sits on Rapid fire.

Despite DH LB being new, I kinda find it more Ranger like and with better utilization than what Ranger has.

Perhaps it’s about time Anet consider flipping skills on weapons to increase diversity and suit playstyles of people.

At this moment, if I want to play Archer – I’ll roll DH instead of Ranger – pet is meh for me, utilities aren’t that great either.

Wasnt that a bug…that got fixed?

Bug was making it hit for 20~27k.

In WvW properly buffed up, even up to ~35k.

Should start calling them NCfail.

Guess what was F2P for?

They did lack incoming players – there were literally 0 ads regarding Gw2.
Crappy F2P games spam everywhere like mad – Gw2 had none.

Anet doesn’t exist anymore – at least that Anet that cared for customers and it’s players.

Now you can taste what NCSoft does – because Anet’s behavior now, is equal to what NCSoft always does.

AMD is poor in MMOs.
And that’s only because of Player Crowd which is AMD’s bottleneck.

In single player games, like Witcher, AMD and Intel perform on pair – there were even tests where AMD was superior during Streaming.

But in MMOs? – only Intel.

Good news, bad news.

Good news: with the sampling of people of all races and genders who’re experiencing this problem, we’ve ruled out the dialog not working for one or two of these combinations.

Bad news: It seems there’s something more sinister at work here. I’ll throw up a flare and see if I can get some coding support to look deeper into this.

Couldn’t talk to Acan after doing path with Defending the Itzel Village.
Could talk to Acan after doing path with Following Tizlak and pwning Mordrem outside of the Village.

First, you can unlock hero points at wvw, it is already known, check the patch notes.

Second most of the Champions at hero points are soloable just learn to play and use the mechanics the game provides you(consumables).
I have ran through plenty of group hero points and I have easily soloed them on my tempest.

Good luck grinding 200 HP per character.

It may be good for WvW rank, but that’s overall bad – 100 WvW level per char.

Sounds niche no?

Map completion only matters to people who wants a legendary, which I would assume is a relative minority.

You’ll end up with two possibilities with introducing a vendor:
1. You provide a few cosmetics or very situationally useful items: it ends up being basically karma 2.0.
2. You have very useful items and resources for sale: it either makes it into a requirement to farm it, invalidates some other content in the game, or distorts the market. If it doesn’t do the above 3 in some form or the other, then it means it isn’t worth you time farming for them.

For example Mistforged Hero Weapons.

With current WvW Tournaments it’ll take around 20 years to have all of them unlocked.
