spvp was amazing when we had solo q and team q separated
I bet any dev can prove you otherwise with their metrics.
I agree with OP.
10/10 want ~30k Backstab Thieves back.
So anet, any fix date?
For whole past year, all Anet does is nerf Power damage and buff Condition damage.
Condition Wars 2.
So much for balance and brains.
Anet logic:
- If something is good and works well, need to be changed.
In PvP gotta be utterly kittened to waste 3xCC to remove stability from someone.
Stability change was mostly thrown due to WvW and blob behavior.
Nothing changed in PvP and in small team roaming in WvW.
New Stability will either be kited off or simply removed by Boon removing abilities.
In fact, Elite skills which grant long stability, like Plague, Lich form or Rampage as One, simply got buffed.
Now you’re getting 3 stacks of stability every 3 seconds.
Which means, if you remove it, it’ll stack up 3 sec later, while before, you could remove it and Elite major ability went down the toilet.
So Stability changes in fact doesn’t impact pvp.
Why should eles even have stability?
Because Elementalist is an underpowered, weak, useless and squishy class with a small box of matches and it can’t defend itself otherwise. QQ
Need buff not nerfffff :c

Entangle has one of the most abrupt and obvious animations in the game.
When you see a Ranger jump in to the air, try dodge rolling. That assumes that the Ranger is standing still when he uses it. Entangle can be activated while moving, and the only animation you get is raising his arms up in the air.
That’s what I wrote and in fact it looks very similar to activation of Signet of the Wild while moving.
If you purchase Heart of Thorns Expansion, then all your in-game problems will be instantly solved.
+1
I want to test my new Turret Engineer build in 1v1.
Can’t wait.
Why not?
- Cast time raised to 1s (from 3/4)
- Makes no difference. You can cast it while running, and animation is the same as Signet of the Wild(or very similar to it). Sure, it increase the window for dodge, but what about it? Are we going to start new hype to glue eyes to screen and wait until someone will start casting it? Problem lies not in it’s cast time.
- Recharge raised to 90s
- Anet did reduce cd to 60 second so it’ll be on pair with Rampage. I personally am happy to see that people do not stick to only one elite(Rampage) as they did previously.
- Health of roots reduced by half
- They die after being hit twice, and if I remember correctly, you can crit them. No point really.
- Line of sight requirement
- As using LoS is also part of skill and allows to outplay others while using your knowledge about environment around you, Ranger has way too many LoS required skills, so lack of LoS on Entangle is a good change of pace.
- Blockable
- And what does it change? Few classes that have access to Block skills via weapons or Aegis Boon up the sleeve. What about the rest of the classes?
In my opinion and from my experience, the reason why Entangle is bit OP as too good CC is because you have to target it to destroy. That means you lose target on ranger.
After destroying roots, you have to retarget ranger again. With it’s pet nearby and that silly bug which swaps target to pet sometimes, retargeting ranger is time consuming.
In my opinion, let melees(I doubt ranged classes suffer from this in 1v1), without target lock hit root with auto attack.
Since those roots are around 2 shot, increase it’s hp/durability to be hit 3 times to not make this elite skill useless.
What does it change?
Entangle stays as CC skill which work well within all aspects – good cd, good duration, and possibility of not difficult removal, which gives a fair breather for melees.
With this, Rangers still have a very good Elite skill choices, one with long cd, 2nd with short one.
Would this still be considered OP if any one of these happened?:
- Cast time raised to 1s (from 3/4)
- I’m not afraid to admit I have trouble dodging this on purpose.
- Recharge raised to 90s
- This means it won’t be available every fight.
- Health of roots reduced by half
- Sometimes I find on classes that aren’t engi that it can be hard to kill the roots.
- Line of sight requirement
- Someone mentioned getting people from below kylho, but it’s equally annoying when you are hit from behind a wall.
- Blockable
- “B-b-but…I gear shielded that!” /cry
Again, only one of those. Not all.
None of the points are good.
Once again, people will refuse to understand this even though oRNG beat abjured with a Guard.
How about we reverse it?
Abjured lost to oRNG because they didn’t have a Guardian.
When did I ever say I didn’t know it was linked to a trait? It’s pretty implied that I meant the trait should be nerfed…not sure how you didn’t see that.
Secondly, when thumper turret makes all melee builds useless against an engi camping on it, that’s too OP, and it needs to be able to be destroyed in a reasonable time.
And they do have a weakness, range, and that’s ONLY if the point doesn’t have many LoS options. Ranger and Lich form are the most powerful range zerk classes, so that’s why I mentioned them. 1v1 that’s pretty much their only counter, again, only if there’s little LoS options, and anyone who says 1v1 doesn’t matter in SPvP hasn’t PvP’d much.
I am sincerely thankful to your contribution in this conversation and once again proving that your knowledge about Engineer class is second to none.
Also, I would like to point out that your attitude that thumper makes melee useless is in fact utterly hilarious.
Prime melees such as Warrior and Guardian have no actual problem dealing with turret engineer and that they just walk inside their Turret Zone and destroy everything along with engineer proves that this build is only noob-proof.
Just because Thief melee wise has a high chance to lose vs Turret engineer is equal to P/P Engi, PU Mesmer and P/D Thief lose vs Staff Necromancer.
I find it intriguing that no one want to point out equal behaviors and situations accross all classes, but pin-point one class to ground and put their demands because they’re mad due to constantly being owned.
And they do have a weakness, range,
I apologize, I really do, for offending you, but you’re honestly an over 15k AP Magpie, which cannot even realize that Turret Engineer has:
- 0 stun breaks,
- 0 stability,
- 0 blocks,
- 0 invulnerability,
- 0 mobility,
only 2 condition cleanse every 20 seconds(15 if HealingT stays alive, but that’s a sacrifice of ~3k healing so yolo) and their only chance to survive is to keep it’s turrets alive since they grant boons(traited), use nearest environment properly and Panic drop Supply Crate which in 1v1 is a sign that Engineer is in pinch and know that he’s gonna wipe soon enough. And finally, even so called “I win button” aka Supply Crate get down fast enough as long as even a melee, warrior, guardian just aoe twice in the middle of it.
Turret engineer is heavily vulnerable to all kind of hard and soft CCs. Cripples, Chills, immobilizes is a hell for them.
The only thing that your Opening Post which in fact has nothing to do with topic you’ve claimed, shows that:
- You are heavily annoyed by knockbacks caused by Turret’s destruction.
And you should realize that this build’s knockback ability which annoy you and many other is equal to Mesmer’s Clone spam or Thief’s Blind and Stealth spam. And alike Thief and Mesmer, it’s an ability to defend itself from enemy(yes, Clones can be offensive, Stealth can be used as offence as well etc).
Knockback trait has radius of 120 and that’s the range you have to keep distance from turret that is going to be destroyed.
What I sincerely ask for, is to stop this ridiculous hype which is already continuing for couple of months, and try hard to throw Turret Engineer to GodLike spot.
Instead of looking at it’s pros all the time, I advise to start looking at it’s cons and what’s more start using them, instead of opening yet another thread which in fact is useless and indicates that primary problem lies in learning how to play.
That is not pointed only toward No Walking.6349, but also toward all other players who feel alike or similar to him.
As in comparison, I thought for some time that Meditation Guardians are so OP due to spike that can down you in one go along with boon spam, blocks and invulnerability.
I finally have learned it’s weakness and started using them. In the end, roughly 90% of Ranked guardians cannot even drop my health down to half and are more hyped to run away and ask for teammate help instead of 1v1ing. There are only few I have met that really have shown what playing guardian properly in 1v1 means, and I bow to them.
So, once again, all I ask for is to start making constructive and objective threads regarding nerfs, and not based on frustration and annoyance created by simply being outplayed, by someone, because that alone will only start killing build diversity which isn’t that big to begin with, and it’s already proved that Anet unfortunately has a tendency to listen to overflow of tears.
In case someone will try to call me an elitist, pro, or something alike.
No, I’m not. I claim to be decent, and do PvP Arena to have fun, and not to boost my ego or increase my kitten. And therefore I gained experience and knowledge which allow me to judge matter as this one fairly.
Do you ever Guardian bro? New “Meta” sc-f/h is just too easy to kill. And new teleport nerf will kill us more. If you dont have Guardian with more than 2k hours then dont comment Guardians.
There are people who play one class for years and get outplayed by newbies like no tomorrow.
Because invested time = skill.
Why dont you tell me how I have 0 knowledge. Or do you always just jump into threads and spout random statements? Everything I said was correct and true.
Okay.
This is a player, with almost 16k AP(15 733AP at 10:23).
He believe that only, I repeat, Only, Power Ranger with longbow or Lich Form(Elite) Powermancer is able to defeat Turret Engineer.
Such experienced(based on amount of AP which takes time to achieve), doesn’t know that knockback on turrets is a trait, and implies that each turret is equipped with it all the time.
For such experienced player(16k AP), while opening a thread and asking PvP community to “Lets talk about Turrets”, he only one-sidedly throw the pluses of such build which make him cripple in PvP Arena.
What’s more, this player demands a Thumper Turret which basic range is a Radius of 240, to have it’s HP nerfed to match HP of Rocket, Rifle or Flame turret.
This indicates that such experienced player(16k AP) is unable to realize that Thumper Turret’s high HP is directly connected to it’s job and it’s position which in fact takes a direct damage from melee enemies due to very short attack range.
Additionally, such experienced player, doesn’t mention even a single weakness of such build, which I believe, is caused by lack of knowledge about this build and even whole class, and therefore, he’s unable to take proper countermeasures toward such build.
I would like to ask this forum administrators to take measures to reduce that toxicity caused by constant creation of such threads which in fact, are a sole problem of those players who refuse to learn to play and what’s more demand changes that destroy build diversity for classes.
P.S – Hi, I play warrior, d/dmancer and p/p engi :v
Guardian needs an extra source of blast finisher and a way to lay a water field so that it can keep up in the role of party support/sustain with Engis/Eles/Shoutbows.
No it doesn’t.
Why people who have zero(0, null) knowledge and experience regarding Engineer’s skills, traits and design of the class, demand nerfs for it?
I vote for IQ test upon thread creation regarding what they want to complain about.
It’s absolutely ridiculous that people who have no knowledge on a matter are allowed to cast their vote and have an impact on such important matters such as nerfs.
After last WTS I think it’s agreeable and obvious that Necros should be nerfed.
-200 to Armor and -300 to Vitality with additional doubled cooldown on all utility skills would be a sufficient nerf to that heavily overpowered silly class.
Constantly being defeated by AI because i dont have the right build is bullkitten. Not to mention that the engi can drop its junk on a capture point and move on. If a roamer thief gets there he will uncap in downed state, while the engi moved to another cap and begins dropping its junk …
Human is supposed to be smarter than AI.
Strangely it doesn’t seem to apply to everyone.
even my retared dog can play turrets engi , the build take so much skills to play .
Challenge accepted.
Quit Client for 1 min, then launch it and queue for new match.
Why should people sit couple of minutes in a match that is already lost and developers refuse to add ability to vote for forfeiting matches?
The issue I have with Entangle is that it works out of LOS.
On Kyhlo, I’ve been under mid point and have gotten entangled when no ranger was in visible sight. So I either sit there & wait it out or waste a cooldown.
Clocktower in Kyhlo is the most bugged structure in whole game.
But it’s okay.
They’ll fix it just like they fixed matchmaking.
Entangle is underpowered.
In my opinion it should get it’s cd reduced to 45sec and duration increased to 8sec.
Then it’ll be a normal and good working Elite skill for rangers which in fact will be a good choice between Rampage and Entangle itself.
There are no “easy stomps” against team with experienced players.
L2p.
Maybe no ability to stomp while cloaked? Do it like you do fighting – one stealthed shot then fight revealed, or just leave the scene.
Cool idea.
A class that you can rekt with more than half of it’s hp w/o downed attack boost before it stomps you.
And the one that is the most useless in 1v1 downed state.
What’s more, all classes can make you recast stomp as well.
Maybe realize, that there are those who have stability, those who are invulnerable, those who have Aegis, and those who have stealth.
Each class has something to assure it’s stomp as long as they have enough hp.
Stealth is , most broken of all, as characters who can’t see stomper can’t target him with their skills.
Yeah. Make Stealthed people visible.
10/10 legit fix.
You have Mystic Forge in EB.
Problem imo is that the PVP player base is so small that you need to play in a 2 hour prime time window to get sort of decent solo matchmaking. At least in EU. Off hours sucks so bad if you’re put in the wrong team.
Yesterday took me over 4 hours of constant pvp matches to get a decent people in team to barely win and do daily on ranger alone.
Prime time my kitten .
I liked Gw2 due to one solid thing.
It was NA and EU only.
Now it became,
- China, then NA&EU.
Anet is focusing too much on improving experience for Chinese community and enforce it on NA and EU.
I did check it.
AI orders pet to rush to target if F2 skill is single target one.
AI doesn’t order pet to rush to enemy if F2 skill is AoE.
Works fine for me.
Leave current MMR as it is.
I hope PvP will die in a month or two at most.
You don’t get it, fan.
There is nothing to abuse.
In every online game, you always focus the most dangerous opponent.
And it’s always a squishy spike holder.
It’s not about “you can’t kill that easily”.
Powermancer has the biggest spikes in team fights.
DS Life Blast crits for 3k+.
Lich form Deathly Claws crit for ~7k+.
Wells hit hard as well and remove precious boons.
So, since #1 it’s the most dangerous and #2 it’s the squishiest, is enough to focus and gain free 5 points per rekt.
oRNG just proved that you can kill a glass necro over and over again.
I wonder would it made any difference if NOS gone with toughness and lot of protection instead of going HP and glass cannon.
NOS was down in all team fights, he has was the only one with no escapes and no sustain, then all fights were 4 vs 5.
I like how it works.
If Nos would kill someone, then it would be 5v5.
When Nos get rekt, then it’s 4v5.
Because Glass Cannon.
BestFan2015.
Divide amulet to full accessory set.
Block – there are skills which are unblockable and can break block channeling(like warrior’s shield skill)
Leap – Leap distance is affected by movement impairing effects such as cripple, chill etc.
Why Teleports such as Mesmers or Thief’s are disabled?
Mesmer portal is 5 000 distance points.
Thief Trap portal is 10 000 distance points.
Necromancer – Spectral walk has 8 sec to recall, Wurm has 1 200 distance points.
Also, thief has a leap attack – Heartseeker.
Mesmer has couple of defensive attributes such as Distortion(can’t interrupt) or Aegis.
Why didn’t you mention this and did call few classes block skills to be powerful while they’re counterable?
I like how my enemy team is made out of two pre made TeamQs and mine has people who afk half of the match.
So, having Thief daily most of the time is fine, but engi not?
Did I stomp in another:
- But Turret Engineer…… >_<
thread?
Abjured is sexy and NOSe it~
I always liked that thing called:
- Biting the hand that feeds you
(Since good mesmers don’t run condition crap),
Good players play however they want and strive to success and have fun.
go tell that to noscoc….sure he had so much fun playing something not really suited to face orng comp…aside from terrible positioning and worthless +1s….
/salt
you can play whatever you want ofc, you can play condi mes, gs yolowar, condi thief or anything that comes to mind…
but if you are actually playing to win you can’t just play any kitten you want…you MUST play something that suits your team’s needs and the best you can possibly run on your class, otherwise you just gonna be a cripple for other 4 ppl….or do you really think that YOU having “fun” is worth making your team lose cause you’re playing bs specs?
So no…good players don’t play what they want, they play what their team NEEDS them to play in order to win, nothing more nothing less.
You’re too much fixated over noscoc and how Abjured got shrekt.
You’re merging TeamQ with SoloQ.
Who cares what I run in SoloQ?
It’s not like I have 15 templates saved in my character menu and I can just ask my random teammates what they run so I’ll swap my build to match their.
And manually swapping whole build takes more than 30 seconds.
Even if you have a pre team for pvp matches, then that doesn’t mean you have to stick to meta.
And I respect people the most, when they surprise me with their builds and sync with teammates. Because it takes more than 3 seconds during fight to figure out what their build is and how to counter it.
(Since good mesmers don’t run condition crap),
Good players play however they want and strive to success and have fun.
WTB ability to leave match when it’s 4v5.
I think that you make some incorrect assumptions. The score difference reflects more than just skill difference. One mistake in one situation may bring different result depending on the situation. Sometimes it may cost team 50 points, sometimes 100, etc. Look for example at last WTS finals. Abjured and oRNG fought 4 matches- 3 of them extremely close at score but last one had very big score difference. If you look only at that last match you might be under the impression that skill of those teams wasn’t close to each other but for sure that’s hardly the case here.
Don’t compare WTS Finals to current PvP arena and it’s matchmaking.
Current matchmaking system backfires heavily and makes people frustrated.
Most of the time, losing team end up with score below 200, and it’s not an issue of, oh you just got outplayed.
Nope.
You can’t outplay a team that doesn’t even know what it’s doing.
It’s a hard Rekt.
And it appears that that for quite some time, matchmaking simply likes to group newbies in one single team and group experienced players in another one.
It’s like fighting uplevels in WvW in full ascended gear.
As someone who doesn’t play the game anymore, I really couldn’t care less if Engineers were nerfed to the ground! But you are deluding yourself if you think this meta is worse than the others! 2-3 hambows + spirit Ranger on every single team!
Hambow was always balanced.
Why would you not play meta builds? Have fun being mediocre forever I guess.
Implying that Meta makes everyone good? :v
But the reverse isn’t good anyways. People with less experience shouldn’t kitten themselves when their skill level isn’t there. Running something that they made up on their own or some odd build isn’t going to help them. Might as well play something that is proven to work and build up skill.
OP didn’t point out to whom this question is specifically forwarded, so I assumed it’s about experienced players.
Therefore my answer to Elitist’s post was like that.
You on the other hand think, inexperienced players should run meta.
In my opinion, inexperienced players shouldn’t land in the same queue as experienced players – they’re ruining experience for those who did their homework.
Not that I have something against them, but I’m against current matchmaking which in fact made quite a number of PvP community being disgusted with it and I understand them.
Therefore, META build, which in fact in this game, in PvP mode is nothing, but nothing more than just a silly build that is used by some overfanboyed streamers and ESL players.
For newbies, META build may be something which is more like a starting point for them, instead of something that does succeed.
Calling nonMeta builds mediocre is also silly.
Uncountable amount of times where a nonMeta which should make people mediocre, has rekt Meta users is a fact.
The only reason why I am so against using that Meta term in every possible situation, and call it the best thing possible, is only because it does kill brain cells and make people believe that build diversity is non-existent – many people already behave like that and talk like that, which for me is quite funny, because after all that time they spent playing, their knowledge is comparable with newbie who just started Gw2.
Hence, I’ll repeat – Those popular builds aren’t bad, but sticking to it like a glue isn’t a way to go. And amount of players that use them forever and never improve, or are plainly in stagnation is very high.
Game in this case definitely favours players with better builds than skill, it was always like that, you can not judge people for running the best kitten game offers to them, it is simple like that, if you wanna win you can tryhard as much as you can with something what is currenty not overpowered and broken but you will not be able to achieve something like that even with absolute 100% concentration, you will be punished for one mistake.
It’s impossible to make 10/10 balance in a game with build diversity. You want a game where skill only matters? Go play FPS games. No builds, only skill and knowledge about game matters.
In Gw2 if someone does choose a build that is harder to operate but effective on it’s own and finally know how to play it, then it means he has raised a difficult level for himself. There is always a build that treat other one like a rag bag, but itself turns into a rag bag for another build. There is no hermetic scaling level for builds. It’s circular.
I think that the competition and number of teams that are “top” proves what people think about the meta and everything that is happening currently, there are not many left who are trying to have “fun” or to compete in one pvp game mode game offers, simply because people do not have the diversity and real focus to do something like that, balance patch comes once in a 6 months, no new good maps since Temple of the Silent Storm, no good rating system, leaderboard is far from anything that can be used as a proof of skill..
Because people aren’t interested in it?
Anet believe that WTS will promote it and people will get hyped and join for it.
No.
There is Justin who comes with metrics, numbers etc. and say current Matchmaking is okay.
Sorry, I made a new Gw2 account today. Won 1 match, after that I got into queue with Rank 80s and premade teams.
Because metrics and numbers….no?
People are fed up with matchmaking system and not balance issues.
In old system it took less than 1 min to join SoloQ – bit longer for TeamQ.
Now you’re waiting roughly for ~5mins.
I just wish that maybe, we can start over with the new expansion and Stronghold, that looks imo interesting but, after all what happened in the past, my hopes are low. And i really used to love this game and everything, but since Devs are just laughing in the videos i dont think there is being taken anything seriously from the competitive perspective of the game, it is forgotten how popular the game, as for the PvP, was at the start and how it looks now, all new good teams are just veteran players grouping with other veteran players..
Game is in stagnation for a long time.
Expansion will change it.
Question is for how long – half a year max?
I’m actually disappointed, because they’re introducing some new skills and new skill system while they refuse to fix old skills.
This case is closed boys, I do feel about as good as winning it feels.
Sorry you couldnt taste it nos, but ORNG deserved it :P.
I’m not a good sportsman and I feel bad for it, but karma is a kitten. You gloated over me for months, right?
kick nos add oe = win.
I personally wouldn’t want to go back to such team and play with such people. It’s toxic on it’s way and butstabers are butstabers.
It would be more productive to create new team from scratch.
This case is closed boys, I do feel about as good as winning it feels.
Sorry you couldnt taste it nos, but ORNG deserved it :P.
I’m not a good sportsman and I feel bad for it, but karma is a kitten. You gloated over me for months, right?
I bet you had a big smiley when you saw the score of 2nd match :v
