As they are releasing upgrade for their graphical engine, it means that it’s easier, cheaper and better to rework graphical engine, than make “WoW2”.
NCSoft did the same with Aion, tho it failed, because their High Quality engine doesn’t support AA and FXAA.

I have no problems with performance and quality.
My PC rig isn’t top and it’s not so powerful, yet I play on max settings with limit for Character model appearance, and yet I run on stable 40~50fps during World Boss raids and zergs in EotM.
Is it really necessary to implement dx11 support for Gw2 engine? Adding libraries and ensuring their support would be nice, question is rather how much of a hassle it is, and if it’s worthy.
Gw2 atm is one of the few games newly released which provides great graphic quality and performance.
SDL is a way to go.

Figure it out by using your brain, knowledge of other classes and by fighting your opponent.
It’ll make it possible to distinguish squishiest players in group by looking at them and aim for them, instead of learning their abilities during match.
PvP is supposed to be a challange, where you show your knowledge of the game, you class and your opponent’s class.
If your idea would succeed, it’ll become a stupid way of full group jumping on squishiest group member and killing them one by one.
The first class to complain about it will be Mesmer.
because others can easily distinguish real ones from clones.
Next it’ll be something like:
- oooh, this trait is on cd, so I can do this and that w/o worrying that he’ll counter it.
I’m sorry, but that kind of thing has no problem making it into full target system games like Aion and alike.
In semi-aim semi target system like gw2 has, it’s going to cripple pvp.

My idea is to leave it as it is now.
We dont’ need shiny fancy stuff that tell you your opponent’s current rune and trait setup or even utility and elite setup.
I just meant it like, if passive traits/runes worked this way with a visual tell, it would make combat a lot more enjoyable as the “randomness” factor is gone without hard shaving of the tools…
I don’t want people to know my rune setup and my trait setup.
How is Sword/shield Warrior crippled?
You use skill # 2…..oh…how is the BUILD crippled? Never mind……
Seriously, just because a Build / weapon combo is not as effective as you would like it to be does not make it “crippled”. I’ll be the first to agree that if you are looking to out DPS another Warrior, you shouldn’t be using a Shield build of any type, but do you actually EXPECT a shield to out damage another off-hand weapon or 2 handed weapon? Not really a reasonable expectation.
X/Shield allows you to play it safe. Going full burst mode even in pvp doesn’t really work anymore.
A skilled player with Sword/Shield can outplay high damage dealer or even a small group of other players.
What’s more, people say that Warrior’s sword is only good for conditions.
Well, bleed is good and work for condition stacking, but doesn’t mean it’s not suited for being used as pure power weapon.
Main Hand Sword(Warrior):
- good mobility with leap – allows to chase fleeing target
- cripple condition – allows to cripple target that would like to flee, or limit it’s mobility
- good single hit high damage skill – it’s slow and requires -50% of target
As many would say, Axe is far better blablabla, then I must say that it takes a considerable skill and experience how to handle sword in main hand, to be able to deal with opponents.
Notice that Warrior’s Sword leap is much bigger than Guardian’s leap on greatsword.

I had wondered about the PVP method, but, I wasnt sure how to go about opening the relevant reward track. I’ve been playing since betas/headstarts, and have literally spent about 10 mins doing PVP, so this probably wouldnt be a very effective method for me as I have zero experience in PVP and will just spend all my time dead on the floor frustrated. But, if it continues as it is, I may have to try it anyway, reluctantly.

Also does it matter if you lose or not? yes, winning matches speed up completion but still you can finish it within one full day or 2 evenings.

All classes are good and hard to kill.
Depends on the one who’s playing it and how he can operate it.
Ele is a good class, but it’s hardest to master.
It’s a specific class which is dependant on boons which acquire via self Combos.
To do that, each ele must know which combo gives which boon and how to get it.
matter of practice, but like I said, it’s the hardest class to learn with high profit after learning it.
After watching this warrior video I believe they need to be boosted.

Previously as I played Aion, there was a huge issue for people afking in team pvp arenas.
It is indeed irritating.
What he meant is that Anet has to implement proper security measures that will not limit developers for making proper apps which will be functional with Gw2, but also won’t create openings for people who would use such opportunity to steal accounts or gain access to user accounts.
If this will work out, I am truly awaiting new apps and overlays(Overwolf) for Gw2 that will work greatly.

What’s even more hilarious is that warriors have so many passives I can actually watch youtube while in a pvp match with my warrior.
He’s not talking about skill. I can evade a warriors hammer. I can’t evade 5 and a half seconds of fear from nightmare runes/reapers protection as soon as I attack.
IMO the rest of the necro fears are fine. It’s those two that are a problem.

To clarify this matter.
Such rng boxes are in any MMO game and majority of them are in shops and are able to obtained only via shop where not always you can exchange ingame currency for shop currency.
Why they’re not called gambling/hazzard?
Because they’re kind of Lottery thing where despite the fact that you’ll purchase it, you’ll always receive something with significant value.
If it comes to Gw2.
You cannot grade them as gambling/hazzard thing because
- you can obtain keys to open chest in game
- you can exchange in game currency for shop currency and therefore purchase them
- each opened box always give you 3 random items
Compared to other games with different kind of models, Gw2 is the most fair one which has so far like, the lowest amount of RNG involved.
As summary
This game cannot have gambling/hazzard stuff in it because if it would have, then it couldn’t be rated as PEGI 12 and wouldn’t be accessible from many countries.
That applies to all games with similar boxes.

Warrior has loads of KD skills with bigger animations and smaller ones.
Plus, Warrior has great access to stability, where Necromancer has near to 0.
Stun breaks won’t help much, because you can be KDed again and you won’t even run away or nearly dodge.
Need to chill out.
Ranger got boosted a little bit, and it’s discussed wholly about it’s pros and cons after patch.
It’s only that, you have to forget about how rangers were in past.
Learn to counter them now and voila.
Oh, and because someone doesn’t have gap closers equipped, doesn’t mean that class has to be overpowered because you’re kited or outplayed.

I haven’t have lag problem in a few weeks. Last time I have lag problem is right after September patch.
I never have DC problem with world boss before(fortunately). Might be a location or ISP issue. I’m not sure how many people are having this problem(DC at tequalt)
it’s Frequent issue which happens daily.
Maybe you’re lucky, maybe dunno, but like I have mentioned, I am checking my connection to map on which I am all the time. While issues with other world boss maps is rather something I didn’t really paid attention, maybe because I realized that my ISP was acting up – when I am getting packet drops somewhere in eu and I can see it, and I see in logs that it’s happening, then obviously am not going to blame anet.
but like I did say, I am paying attention to it, and whole route till map server – after 2nd ncsoft server there is 100% drop on ping, there are no packet losses, ping is stable on <60ms, and I can see in game that my char isn’t responding while pingplotter shows that there are no issues on the whole way, then I’m certain that Anet server dropped me, or doesn’t respond.
It’s 2nd issue which happens a lot also, as my packets are received by server, but server doesn’t send packets back.
As example, your char doesn’t respond when you’re killing a mob while pressing all skills, but when connection with server returns, mob is dead.
And I’m asking seriously, is it really that hard in PvE maps to add a rule that slot on the map which stays occupied by character for 30sec~1min when connection has been lost?
For me? It’s easy as hell.
Because thanks to that rule, may it be Anet server fault or routing problem, allow players to log back to the map they were on and participate in events they have started to participate.
Yep, that’s right, another stupid thread which was discussed thousands of times and yet I cannot see any kind of improvement from Anet side except you were dropped somewhere in the middle.
Unfortunately for Anet I have been using PingPlotter for a while and was pinging each map I was joining and each time I get disconnected, especially in Sparkfly Fen which occurs very often, and each time i disconnect it’s from their own infrastructure.
Such thing doesn’t occur to myself, since I see that tens of people are disconnected at the same time from different places in Europe and are routed differently as well, but unluckily they somehow are disconnected all together.
Anti-dc group is crap, because even if you’ll dc, you won’t join Tequatl’s map for next 2min or 3 anyway.
First time I make such topic, because I already am irritated while it happens to me since I started playing and it occurs every single day.
Like, seriously. Is it really hard to make exception for connections that even if there will be a dropout then you can join within next 30sec or 1min?
I only experience it on world boss maps, WvW/EotM/Arena maps have no such problems.

That build is for roaming.
Quickening thirst allows you to chase people you want to fight or run away from blob – as I know they stack swiftness, but still, you have a chance to flee.
Blood is Power gives you 10 stacks of Might and you don’t need target to use it, because the moment you use it you get 2 stacks of bleed + 10 stacks of might.
After this, if you’ll either go d/d or DS+ Life blast spam is a matter of choice, point is that it’ll hurt your opponent when you auto attack them with 2.8+ power.
Shrouded removal is a personal choice. Can always change it for Staff Mastery or Spiteful Vigor or even Dark armor. Yes, in this build we have 3 Channeling Skills, additional defense is nice while we don’t want to dodge because it’ll break Channeling.
Mark of evasion deals damage and put regen, and you always want to be as close to target as possible because our main attack comes from Dagger. As I know that Life Blast hit hard, but can be easily evaded, and if you’re fighting someone with Vigor boon spam, like S/D thieves which seem to spawn lately like no tomorrow, then LB is kind of useless. Not cause of only Vigor and evade spam but also because they have a nice evade in their skill set and they always aim for your back.
LB is very strong against people who are kept at range, but main purpose of this build is to hug our opponent.
Dagger can build Life force very fast.
Unholy Sanctuary – maybe you don’t know but that trait is actually great. Not only it does heal your main Health Pool but also put you in Death Shroud when your life is supposed to hit 0. At certain points it’s capable to put you in DS even if it’s on cd.
At first glance this build sure looks bad, but it’s extremely effective because it provides high Damage output along with high survival.
Vital Persistence in Soul Reaping work greatly with Unholy sanctuary because it allows us to stay in DS much longer, especially when we were supposed to be downed already.
While in DS we recover additional 3k HP, our Healing skill may come off the cooldown which makes us survive much longer to finish opponent.
Thanks to that, DS isn’t our last call for running away, or last card to kill someone or we’re dead.

Cavalier gear provides high Crit damage. Thanks to Rune of Pack set, we have almost perma Fury in combat which makes us to run on full 50% crit chance.
What’s more we also have almost perma Swiftness in combat which allow us to be faster and not allow others to run away.

SteamOS has unofficial and modified DirectX libraries, so games will run even w/o emulating them.
Problem is compatibility which Valve is working on.
If SteamOS will get more and more popular as a Free Operating System which can run Games, including newly released ones – Windows will get a headshot.
That only now depends on Valve and how they’ll update it.
In couple of years we should see other distros using DirectX libraries so people who will want to play “Windows” games, will be able to play on any distro they’ll want.
Honestly, I was waiting for that day till Windows will get shot in it’s knee.

it’s total damage after 1min.
Bleeding conditions and some other show total damage dealt during it’s full duration.
Easy to achieve with 2 000 Condition Damage.
If target doesn’t cleanse himself from conditions, then I even rarely can stack 12~15 stacks of Bleed, since any target melt down before I reach such stack amount.

I like how Bleed condition is lightly looked at if it comes to necromancer.

It makes condimancer to simply spam scepter auto attack on target. Will melt quite fast.
