Is a rebalance planned at all for the PvE Necro?
Are there any plans of making condition builds desirable in PvE? / nerfing the direct dmg focus?
If so, what are there estimated timeframes?
Nope, nope and nope.

Traited with path of corruption, I would go even as far as to say that it’s THE best single skill necromancer currently has. Condition burst potential is just insane from a single skill.

Playing as the suicidal berserker power necro, I can say that 6,5k is fairly low damage versus another glass with lich. If target has plenty of conditions, is full glass and under 50% hp lich is going to hit almost 8k+possible procs.

Hey all,
There will be a fix for this coming in the February 4th release next Tuesday. In the meantime, I would avoid using Signet of Vampirism in the manner outlined in this thread.
Thanks for the reports!
While you are at it, how about buffing the skill to actually make somebody use it outside of this exploit.

Commander: K drop water field please.
(eles drops water field.)
Commander: Blast guys. Let’s heal up.
(people blasts.)
Commander: WTF why aren’t I healing?
Some dude: Sir, some noob necro dropped a well of blood, and that light field covered the water field.
Commander: ***************** YOU noob necro!!!!!
(our zerg gets wiped.)
Commander: Noob necro! Give me back my legion!T_T
Field cannot cover another, the oldest has the priority for finishers.

If there’s a boss that absolutely forces ranged combat most of the time, the DS necro will probably out dps everything else (at 300-600 range, up to 1200 with lich)… Too bad there really aint bosses like that, and even if there is, then the DPS won’t probably be the party’s biggest worry.

~13s according to Reaper’s Touch CD.
Closer to 12s, at the end of the video theres 2s of cooldown left. Pretty good considering you don’t even have stacks built up.

Every skill counts.
if you use weapons instead 18 will be 30sec
False. Both Dagger and DS have capacity to get around 18-21 seconds.

One of often underlooked issues about necromancer’s defenses is the lack of stunbreak/condition remove in Deathshroud. Lack of stunbreak is kind of understandable due to foot in grave but against a necro you have freedom to freely pump him full of conditions while in DS. And when he comes out of DS it’s easy to just cc lock him and keep the conditions ticking.

Lich does less much less damage per hit than lifeblast when you approach higher power levels and it’s bugged at lower levels so it wont even give you power really. Don’t know about overall dps though. It’s comparable to lifeblast at nonfullbuffed mights.

The combo it stores is from field which was in place when you placed the mark. When enemy triggers it, it releases the stored combo and comboes with the current field in place. (In practice 3+4 marks on opponent results in double poison blast combo if there are no other fields)

It can actually absolutely destroy skirmishes if you gear Dire+Dire/rabid accessories because in wvw you have the old dhuumfire and insanely high defensive stats (25k+ hp, 2,6kish armor+strong shroud is a baseline) and devastating condition burst. From the few times i’ve used it in wvw, no groups under 3 players stood ANY chance whatsoever. Ofcourse that doesn’t prove anything but after seeing your enemies melt to your 2200+ condition damage without might there isn’t much left to see…

Alphard does. No really, she has insane condition duration reduction for some reason.

For DPS:
DS build based on crit damage and Dperception > Dagger crit build
Base power dagger (so low crit) > DS based power with Dperception
Also DPS…Please enlighten us. What do you think DPS means?
If you guys seriously think your doing good damage with lifeblast ill just leave you to stew in your ignorance. I generate a fair amount of might with sigil of strength and if i didnt id still be doing more damage than the DS build. I did another vet giant kill after getting scholar runes and a bloodlust sigil. Killed it in 19 seconds with a poor rotation, I believe thats 3 seconds faster than the DS build which was self generating might and vuln a lot better. Lifeblasts hit harder on my build aswell, they just crit slightly less often. So really 30/10/0/0/30 is just superior DS dps but it still doesnt beat dagger in any situation. Even if you have interrupt dagger dps or whatever. If your a bad player I can understand that using dagger might be a dps loss but thats not what were discussing.
My killtime without scholars was around that too (~19sec) and my rotation was far from complete (I even used one axe auto at start).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXdGjHVR8mwAnd I already stated the advantages of both builds groupwise earlier this thread.
Ill do some more tests tonight, because after seeing the calculated dps for the 2 builds it really doesnt make sense that life blasting keeps up so well.
Did it take into account that wells and locust will always crit due to deathly perception?

The main difference between 30/10/0/0/30 aka DS and 30/25/0/0/15 aka dagger is that DS has superior overall dps when your group doesnt supply you lots of might/precision/extra conditions and when meleeing is undesireable from dps point (arch diviner is a pain as melee). Basically its better for pugs. Dagger shines over it when you can fully count on party members to provide lots of precision and might and possibly conditions to feed on Target The Weak. For solo situations they handle stuff at around same speed.

As necromancer who frequently spams chill, I can say with 99% certainty that chill has absolutely no effect on npcs other than reduced movement speed.

Well of Suffering is worth a sustained 23 DPS over its entire cooldown. Well of Corruption is worth a whopping 5 DPS. Those aren’t worth it, at least not in theory if you can keep minions up.
Whatever you’ve been smoking I’d like some too. I have no idea where you pulled these numbers from but they’re absolutely wrong. Wells have 1/4 sec cast time with little to no aftercast and do alot of damage over their duration. They just got a bit high cooldown but the damage my wells provide over their duration is AT LEAST comparable to all non-elite minions combined.
I think I should remove this quote given the recent developement.
A necro can farm deadeye on total 35 second rotation with 5 gambits. It could be possible to make it even faster by getting full corruption stacks and minmaxing cond duration/cond damage and optimizing rotation better.
I think I should remove this quote given the recent developement.
Can someone tell me a good berserker build for a necromancer?
Other popular build is 30/10/0/0/30. But as far as I can tell the extra crit damage doesnt make up for the lack of precision and target the weak. And seeing as that build usually involves sitting in DS using life blast its no good for dps. Also strength of undeath doesnt give a 5% boost, its just 90 power.
If we as necros get an outside source for maxed might, you can drop blood is power for well of corruption for additional fairly decent damage boost.
I think I should remove this quote given the recent developement.
@Spoj: There are 2 sets with fully offensive stats, and over twenty that are partly or mostly defensive. What does that tell you about how offence and defence were supposed to be balanced?
And they all have power or condition damage on them. I stand by my point.
Magi has prec,vit,healing :p

Its also a joke that all our modifiers are 5% in minors whereas other classes get 10%.
And none of them give percentage boosts, only plain power.
Source?
Simply testing it in game. With strength of undeath, your power changes with your current LF and with Blood to Power you just said yourself it gives +90 power. (I rarely use over 20 in blood magic anyway, but it shouldn’t be hard to test) For close to death, I kind of excluded this one as it is not 5% boost, but a boost depending on opponent’s conditions and it seems to work as intented.

I am not often post in such Thread, but Desolation needs a compliment, for me they deliver very challenging fights, after weeks of blobing and some strange enemies. Desolation has some good guilds running on the track, keep up the work, good fights somtimes we win somtimes we get crushed, it is really a good week in my eyes.

While the selfstun is not acceptable, you can abuse it somewhat: You will trigger reaper’s protection upon using Dark Spear which you can follow up with fear wave for incredible aoe fear!

I could do deadeye with all 6 gambits in sub 40 seconds full rotation but unfortunately it only counts 5 of them so its not as profitable. Still good as hell and it will get nerfed quickly.

I succeeded with 8 orbs using condimancer and snaring/fearing the boss when she got too close. To guarantee i wont have cripple i used staff4,dagger4, healing, plague signet and remove cond on DS trait. I got the p2 pattern down and kited visions near pools till I an opening to throw a crystal. Spectral grasp helps alot.

Anyone done the ‘8 orbs’ achievement (aka Light Up the Darkness) on necro yet?
I got 2 confirmations on that. (Me and one of my guildies)

Did the additional achievement (throw 8 shards) with necro too.
I think I should remove this quote given the recent developement.
Did it on necro last night. Dodge food/signet of locust really help (I didn’t use energy). Took around 100 tries total, but that was before i figured out how to avoid that mushroom effect (put post processing to none) and learning the pattern of aoe.
Now the other achievement for her. One necro in my guild beat her before me and also said he got the other achievement after that. He was using condi build with wells+BiP. I used PVT shroud siphon/shroud with spectral grasp/locust.
This is definetly harder on necro than any other though, no contest about that.

100 tries behind, a marathon of running back to the arena and after an ocean of tears, I finally beat her with my necro. Now to beating her with 8 throws…
