Ranged-Only class

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Taygus.4571

Hey everyone, just a question here. No one has mention Necro. Is Necro not ranged?

It can be. Staff has it’s uses in WvW.

but alot of it’s power comes from d/d and a/w. The f1 skill, is stronger the closer you are to your enemy.
So although, like every other class, it has ranged, it’s generally best to be up close.

To solve the WvW problem and levitate the server identity problem, I propose this:

Along with map, say, team, party, whisper, squad, and guild chats…

have a server chat

there, calls for help can be requested and like-minded people can voice their needs.

its a good idea, but it needs to be very strict on the amount of posts one can make there/spam filter.. Dont want guilds spamming over and over again. Or repetitive emotes.

So next step: optimization please!

That has nothing to do with this thread, and is likely due to your pc build. Create your own thread in the Player helping players, if you need advice on that.

Possible, we are one of the biggest guilds in one of the highest populated servers (Gandara). Still, I see a lot of legendary dual wielding guys in the main hubs, there is always 2-5 folks in LA (atm Vigil Keep) with legendaries, doesn’t matter which time I am there.

I have to agree, they are not as rare as they might seem, and getting less so by the day.
(which is not a bad thing. Legendaries are useful. What the game needs is rare SKINS. for the people that want to be unique. )

a fix to this would be to guarantee precursor ‘scraps’ per event per account per day. And have it that you need, idk 5,000 scraps. (which would need to be possible to change scrap stack from 250 to 1 ticket, for bank space. So 20 tickets for a percursor. )

That might be a bit much or a bit low, ..but something like this would allow everyone to work towards their percursor. To see how they’re getting along, how far they are what they need to do etc.
(I’d suggest all WvW events arent limited to do once per day. Just pve to encourage exploration.)

RNG could still be there, but this would allow everyone a chance for it, without the gold farming. It would immediately events more worthwhile, as well. (which they arent atm…)

(I want to add, that I’d like legendary for the changeable stats, as I like to hop between pve and WvW, it would just be handier. Want an armour with that option too. )

From all the plan told until now, my only concern is that the boss schedule seems quite tight, and those playing always in the same hours of the day, will likely never see some content.

The only solution I can think right now is to do some rotations over time, like every month the whole schedule is moved 3 hours further.

actually this is a good idea.

rotate the schedule, so at least you’re not doing the same boss at the same time every single day.

Instant level 80 gem item?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Taygus.4571

thats ridiculous.
NOBODY would get it then…..(because of the cost, who’s gonna spend a world transfer cost on a lv80 boost. in that case, crafting is cheaper ..=.=’

Crafting should always be cheaper than a gem store item, which is also 1 point why they wont do it. If the gem store item was cheaper than crafting, people would just buy gems with gold until the exchange rate would be so high, that it levels out.

if the “price than levels out”….what difference does it make?
and what of the people who use actual cash for gems? Why would they buy the item if it were cheaper to convert to gold and then craft? Having it cost more than a high pop world transfer is ridiculous.
600-1000 gems, more fair.

At least 3-4 characters already at level 80
100% map completion on at least one character
maybe some WvW rank, like 20-30

and have it cost something like 2400-3200 gems minimum.

thats ridiculous.

Honestly I’m against it. Leveling up teaches you to play the class, even if it only teaches you one new trick for the class, it’s worth it.

What is wrong with learning at level 80, using youtube videos, watching other people play?

This.

I want to have all my skills and all my traits, so I can then really start playing that class. I want to be able to kit them out in armour asap..

Its simple, if you don’t like it, don;t buy the gem store item.

I’m sure anet could put a limit that a lv80 char has to buy the then account bound boost to lv80 scroll.

There’s only so many times you can repeat hearts/exploration/trait and skill lacking. It is extremely boring. Just let people who want the boost, get it. If you dont want it, dont get it.

People are still not learning to play the class til 80 anyway. (by doing crafting/ queens champs.).

{Qol} Mini pet tab on the character sheet

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Taygus.4571

Taygus.4571

The downside to that is that everywhere will become a mini-pet zoo. Everyone will have a pet and it will be a clusterball.

No and I have a tequatl mini-pet.

I want an alternative that doesn’t create a zoo but easier than we currently have. I want the ability to press a button on the keyboard that summons the mini-pet. This way it is easier, and we won’t have a zoo everywhere just because you can just forget about summoning it.

simple fix, allow an option in graphics to turn off mini pets.

That way, those of us who want to see all the pretty mini’s. can. and those who don’t wont be clustered with them.

have all boss achieves/bosses listed there(only listing AFTER you find the boss of course).
Then add on option “turn on notifications”.

If you choose yes. then it’ll mark the tab like for mail. and tell you what boss is up and whether its in pre or not.

Make Ascended stats unlockable like Wardrobe

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Taygus.4571

Taygus.4571

no, don’t unlock the stats.

What they need is an across the account slots (not bank).
Something in the hero panel. 1 free slot for everyone(more could be bought through gems).
And anything you place there will be in all of your hero panels. it would be perfect for say the airship tickets, a mini, tonics etc.

Making things account bound is a little annoying without an easier(quicker/cheaper -because of wp to bank) way.
Why is there not an account slot? I’d love to have my mini with me on all my characters without having to stop at the bank/crafting table to get it out, and remember to put it away when I switch character.

Same could be for sharing weapons. account bound, without the option of an “account slot” is just annoying. and many people won’t bother constantly switching them around.

You could work a week at a minimum wage job

I hate seeing this as a reply to these kind of threads.

Firstly minimum wage is different in every country (IF there is a minimum wage).
Many people here are students.
Many others have families/bills/mortgage.

Not everyone can afford to buy gems to convert to gold. Not everyone sees it as a justified expenditure either.
(for example, I have no problem buying a skin on gemstore or a gathering tool, but I HATE the idea of converting gems to gold. )

Anet needs to come up with another way for these percursors. Yeah they shouldn’t be completely easy, but you shouldn’t have to pay or play an unknown number of hours.
(notice the main problem is unknown.) The RNG in this game is dreadful.

@ OP,
yes, all the time, as I don’t normally repair until something is broke, and sometimes til all of it is.

wonder why they bother with breaking armour now without the charge, now it’s just an extra annoyance. (yes, it seems less annoying to me, to have to pay. then to go to fix something for nothing, seems odd.)
Fixing armour wasn’t even expensive. It seemed reasonable.

Feedback: Event loot nerfed

what they should do.

Is create “map scraps”, where each map has it’s own scraps regardless of the events you do.

You can then trade in scraps for unique items on that map. (unique, not necessarily unobtainable through other means, it could have strawberries in one map, repair kits in another,.. a skin to the map…even a mini for the map-that could cost 1000 scraps or something etc.)

have a guaranteed scrap per event, but only once per character.(or account, but I think per characters is fine.). This would spread people out to chase a reward they want from a certain map. Or an item they would find useful. It would bring people into lower level maps as well.

Not everyone would find the same thing useful/want the same thing. So there’d be no reason to stay on the same map. It’d be something to do, and at least it wouldn’t be just ‘champs’ or ‘farming gold’.

Ok, it’s still some sort of grind, but..depending on the reward costs. I think this would be great. A map has alot of events one could hop through.

No you won’t need manuals, characters that are created before the patch will have all major traits unlocked.

As for the trait points, you are confused,* pre-level 30 characters* won’t have any trait points at all and any points you already used before the patch will be removed. Keep in mind that you will have 14 traits now instead of 70.

see that part is confusing.
What he wants to know is if he creates a character now, but leaves it unleveled. …will have all traits unlocked..or not.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I’m not a fan of duelling.

But, anet could have it as an option.(as in, in options. “allow dueling: tick for yes, empty for no.”

They could also make it so you can’t ask anyone to duel who is more than 5 levels below your level. (to prevent downscaled hassling others, )however those others could still ask a downscale to a duel, so if friends and whatnot want to duel despite the different level, they could.

But all in all, I don’t see the need of adding a duel option in PvE, there is a PvP option, go PvP. And leave the environment out of it.
In the end it’ll only end up as an instance anyway. heck buy the gemstore custom pvp arena, and off you go.

I don’t run a condition build as such. I do focus on keeping weakness on almost 100% of the time. I use the self-bleed for might. and then use DS skills, especially around mobs, clears them pretty quick.

I don’t think a necro would ever be for speed runs. (unless they change some major things/make conditions more viable). But we’re sturdy and can let out some hefty DPS when spec’d well.

They’re still looked down on, but I love this class and I’m not going to play another one just because warriors think they’re gods.

another thing, it would have made more sense to make the trait books be buyable with karma than gold. Karma is a better currency for representing playing the game in any mode, where as gold represents how well you can merchant or farm

but i suppose the problem would be karma is currently pretty unbalanced currency, some have millions sitting around, some have like 0, then again the same can be said of gold.

Make the traits buyable by skill points, thats not so bad I think. depends how much skill points they’d cost.

These trait changes sound really cool, but one thing kind of worried me a bit and I couldn’t find it asked/answered already in this thread:

“Refunding traits is now free across the game: refund your traits any time you’re not in combat or in a competitive PvP match!”

Is there going to be a new cooldown on this? Or is the new meta for fractals/dungeons going to be to swap traits for every boss?

I hope the limit trait swapping in instances. So choose carefully before entering a dungeon, but hoping from dungeon to dungeon, you can change your traits easily without having to go to a retrainer.

it’s bad enough with parties wanting to make sure you’re running a certain build(thankfully my guild doesnt do this), but now parties will want to make sure you’re changing your build per enemy in dungeons/fracs?.
It probably won’t affect speedclearers as changing traits would take them. But I think the best thing would be for anet to limit trait changing in instances.

Necro’s can be great for blinds/constant weakness.

So choose the class you like best and learn it well.

zerker is not the problem not having holy trinity in the game IS the problem Geting ONE shoot from boss IS problem

From my own experience, one shotting is only a problem if you’re using low armour. Its something I’ve noticed improving as I’ve started to better my armour.

Also certain classes ele/theif can be squishy and require dodging/blocks to survive. But not all class should be able to tank. (as far as ‘tanking’ goes in this game).

Not having trinity is a breath of fresh air. And yes it’s difficult to balance, but anet is working on that, ..though it is sort of a trial and error thing. Give time to see what works and what doesnt.

Again, the solution would have been: tokens.
Anet want people to play. The more you play, the more you get tokens and the less people get frustrated by crappy loots.

If you want to give the items some kind of rarity, just make it so people really have to be careful what they choose to exchange them for. make it so that nobody could humanely buy all of the items.

Easy for that, you can only exchange tokens for one of the unique items once. But allow tokens to have a second merchant for crafting items or something.
don’t have the tokens for the unique item, crazy high, expecting people to play 4 or 5 hours a day. The once chance choice would be fair and it would still be unique.
