Before fixing this thing, I’d like them to fix the p2 Detha trap bug first so that she don’t just stand there staring at 5 of us doing nothing.

Just drag a mob to her, let it kill her, kill it then rez her and all is well with the world.

Is OP talking about bags or bag slots? Bags are fairly cheap and you can buy one with candy corn cobs for like 3-5g.

As for bag slots I agree that they should be account bound. Similar to what they did with the commander tag. Triple the gem price but make them account bound.

He’s talking about a bag, that is shared by all characters,, without the need to move stuff into bank -into next character.

I don’t buy them.

I do use the crafting boosters for leveling up crafts, they’re useful and some of the experience boosters can be handy while leveling, but not for gems.
I have all my boosters from key farming.

To be fair it is kind of dissatisfying to have you gear all set up for getting DPS and taking hits, and then realizing most of the fight doesn’t really involve your gear at all, it’s part of the reason i don’t run all zerk. Often your own DPS doesn’t matter as much as surviving to do some mechanic the boss has.

That said I understand their place. Perhaps a change to mechanics to let your gear have more say in the more gimmicky encounters would be nice. Like swiftness allowing actions to be done faster, or something.

the swiftness in gear does help, allows you to get out of those danger zones quicker.

healing means you’re less likely be downed (since it does take a couple hits tbf)

for once zerk isn’t “the” way to get passed bosses, and..despite my previous thread (I still stand by some of my comments there.)
they are doing these encounters to help move away from “zerk only”…obviously that still has it’s place. and I’m not against it, but it’s nice that there isn’t realy an advantage to being one gear type of another.

cept swiftness, I think in this case, that probably would help quite a bit.

and the need to beat the boss after you’ve lost the achieve, is more infuriating than restarting.

and I get it… complete the entire instant.

but answer me this, if you can do the previous rooms perfectly…what do you gain by repeating the them?

The same would occur in this game if players had the option to immediately restart the fight if they messed up. They could keep restarting the fight and attempting until they eventually got lucky. All of these fights are very simple so it would only be a matter of time before they succeeded. Like in the previous example, the sense of failure was removed.

That doesn’t make sense…you’re not restarting to just before you mess up, you’re restarting the actual fight, but skipping all the dialogue or fight scenes that reached that point.

You’re skipping stuff, you’ve figured out already.

take infiltration and staying invisible, they could’ve had a “save” between each section, and that would not make the next any easier, it just saves you repeating the steps you’ve already mastered.

for some reason, I had quite of bit of trouble with that one, mid way. with the big golem and 2 little golems. I had no trouble getting to the point, having to repeat the rooms, didn’t increase the challenge, didn’t make it more fun…didn’t increase feelings of accomplishment…no it made me groan out loud, and think about quitting and not bothering to pick it up again.

It’s not harder because they make you repeat the rooms, just boring.

And this I think is one of the biggest complaints with LS2.
hidden arcana, did it right, with an emote before each boss, but that’s because the achieves were different through out.

I do think for the next LS..a check point between scenes etc would make repeating less frustrating.

take the centaur episode.
if you die to togan, you can restart and just fight him, without fighting all the centaurs, this works for the challenge achieve, but it doesn’t let you restart the dodge achieve. It should, without fighting all the centaurs again,…they’re not hard to fight, they don’t get harder to fight.

As I said before, the entire point of the achievement was to complete the entire instance without being spotted. You have little ground to argue for a checkpoint for this particular instance. If you don’t want to do the achievement as intended then don’t do it.

all it does is save some time.

since new daily system came in, i haven’t done a single daily, i just don’t udnerstand how they work.

I got login reward then they show me 3 tabs of something to do, that tabs disapear and…i have no clue, i’m getting some chests in wvw and pvp Transcendededed with normal rewards for those game modes, but i don’t know if i ever made daily after new system came in.

it shows pve ..and a possible to do list
it shows pvp and a possible to do list
it shows wvw and a possible to do list

if you do 3 dailies, regardless of which tab
you get ten AP.

you also get rewarded per daily you do.
ie if you do pve, you get “writs of experience”
in pvp “reward track potion”
in wvw “wvw rank experience”
and extra.

These are the chests you open for doing the daily.
they aren’t important, no one has to them, anet made laurals and more a login reward, so no one would feel forced to do the dailies.

getting 3 dailies done and out of the way is quick and easy, if you’re an AP hunter, you no longer feel forced to “do everything”.
If you’re after laurals, you no longer have to do anything at all.

If you’re after rewards, each daily gives that….so you might feel like you have to do everything idk.


The pve needs a bit more choice, but as it stands, the dailies are quick and easy.

for those who don’t like pvp, but want the quick capture or rank points, go into custom arenas, choose “rank farm” will either say blue cap or red cap., everyone then stands around waiting for red, for example, to reach the max points and the “match” to be over.

Some of them use skyhammer, which is a “tag and jump” to your death ones, to speed it up a bit.

It’s easy, it’s no pvp, have a chat while you do that, dance if you want.

For the events…just don’t do those dailies..the 4 events in one map is too strict, don’t do them, if not many people do them, anet will see it has to change.

Living Story - Poorly done.

I feel like the Season 1 issue is because Anet was still getting on stable footing on how to release new content. I remember during Southsun Cove nothing was instanced which made some parts of it almost impossible, but they’ve learned from that and come a long way I think.
I’m okay with not seeing the whole Scarlet thing, I can cope with that, my problem with being thrust into Season 2 is suddenly I’m the leader of a hodgepodge guild that’s previously saved Tyria? Who are these people? Why do they all seem to be in some sort of romantic relationship with each other? What is up with this limping asuran and why is she so tiny?

Failure. After playing 4 chapters of season 2, I just felt alienated and insulted at how the presentation of the continuity straight up assumed you had the chance to play every piece of removed content. I have much more fun ignoring Living Story and just playing the base game’s content.

if you didnt play it, you could always read about it, lots of blogs… and there’s always youtube.

they can’t just magically add season1, but last I heard they were working on it.

LS1 wasn’t “removed” it was never meant to permanent in the first place.

I think apart from of the encounters that I sorely disliked, ls2 was a success, being able to play at your own time, is excellent. I do miss the living aspect of the world, but I can understand that isnt feasible.

Do you guys think that there’s a middle ground between ultra hard and easy?

For example, I think we could clean up some of the issues with the Shatterer and just make it a more engaging experience. So rather than spending the entire fight hiding under his right paw he could, say, turn his head and attack that area? :] It doesn’t have to be hard, just a little more involved.

We tried to put in a few changes here and there when we added the new world boss timers. Reactions varied.

I would like a need for..the..there’s cannons, there isn’t there? I haven’t done shatterer in awhile…but those cannons are never used?

adding something like teq..that stacks unless those cannons are used, would be cool.

Like shatterer will stomp the ground..throwing everyone into the air, if he’s allowed to buff up ..idk..5 or 10 stacks of whatever.

That would add something extra..but not really more difficult.

One suggestion, Taygus. It might not be just your internet connection. Check also for programs running in the background, such as an antivirus program. You might have an antivirus program that takes up a lot of overhead…….try turning it off while you run the game…..also turn off any other programs that may be running in the background. Might also try changing your graphics to ‘performance’ setting.

These things might help with your lagging. Might not, too….but is worth a try.

nah, I have an fps of about 63.. …..about 20-30 in large groups.
(that was much lower, when I didn’t realise.. even on high power, my laptop was throttling the cpu rather than turning on the fans >.>…..)

my internet fluctuates between 2-5mbs., (it fluctuates quite randomly, but I think this fluctuation is what causes the lag.)
the area we’re in is pretty bad for online gaming,..old phone lines, that can’t carry a steady/high speed.

~steals your fiber-optic lines mwuhahaha~

thanks for the suggestion of course, and I may turn off programs anyway, maybe that will raise my fps in large groups,

Taygus, you mentioned lag in one of your posts. Could this be the major contributing factor in why parts of the game are frustratingly difficult….because your computer and/or internet connection can’t keep up? I know of a couple times when I have had lag in huge boss fights, and it causes me nothing but frustration, because my actions in game don’t happen when I do them on my computer…..that only happens in huge boss fights for me…….does your lag happen on a fairly regular basis in game?

And I am by no means telling you how to play the game or what you should like or how you should do something ……..just wondering if maybe your lag problems are at the center of your frustration with the game?

no doubt lag plays a part…I have a dodgy internet connection, so it affects all aspects of game play.

I see a at least 2 different devs in PvP a week. My friends see even more in WvW (mainly EoTM). Devs seem to like EoTM and most devs, like most players that don’t have tomes go there to lvl fastest to 80. Rangers have been spotted the most but I can’t say for sure that is what most of them main, because no one knows these numbers. Just 2 days ago my firend went into EoTM and said there were 5 devs running with the zerg, 1 war, 1 guard, 3 rangers. 1 ranger & guard not 80 yet.

As Grouch stated, he wants to help the team out and will play whatever he needs to. I have seen him on Engi mostly but I am sure that is mainly because, what team doesn’t need an engi? I have also seen him play other classes. If engi was to ever become basically useless in PvP (shouldn’t due to balance) I am sure Grouch would play another class more often.

Players should want to help the team. Not willing to switch when there is 3 thieves and it’s not the daily, to me blows my mind. Never the less, it happens.

I am sure there are some devs in EU, whether they live there or just play there; but Anet is in the USA, NA see’s them a lot more.

so….all that to say “They’re in NA, that’s where you’ll see them”

If we get a chance we’ll play there during work hours (EU primetime) but for the most part we play on NA during our free time. Most of us have guilds and friends that we play with, just like you guys! There’s a lot more of us playing than you’d think…we just blend in. (One of us, one of us!)

We do have a handful of EU community managers – like David, Ramon, and Stephanie. I’ve seen Stephanie playing on a FR EU server before in WvW (and then I hunted her down mercilessly).

Also, also, I think it’s important for all of us (on both sides of this discussion) to remember that this is an MMO and as such it’s designed with a very broad audience in mind; just because some types of content are too hard and/or not to your liking and/or whatever doesn’t mean you have to write off the whole game. There’s tons of stuff to do for all types of players, with even more content waiting for us just over the horizon!
I think this debate is not about wether content should be easy or difficult, but instead is questioning in which spaces challenging/intermediary content should appear.”

I’m hoping they tone down the SP’s in all areas of the game…. SP’s used to be actually worth something… these days I can barely get 1g/sp, I used to be able to get 2-3g/sp.

thats more to do, with more people using the baron spreadsheet than the number of sp in the game.

As for pvp rewards, the reward tracks are actually very rewarding. What’s more there is already very valuable shiny you can farm only in PvP – Tomes of Knowledge. Other players don’t get this treasure so easily. The other cool reward are transmutation charges.

Well, considering i have almost two stacks of tomes and scrolls + over 100 stones, it doesnt feel cool at all, i’d rather have an option to get other loot instead.

use your tombs for skills, and do mat promotion for gold …there you go, good rewards.

alternatively, have a char slot for key farming. use your tombs, to level to 10, get your key quickly and easily..and gamble for your chance of good rewards. (blt chests can actually be quite good…of course this means hoping into pvp.)

pvp, isn’t bad. I play it for the rewards, that’s all. I’m mostly a pve’er but the rewards, the dungeon tracks etc are enticing, so I don’t think it’s the rewards that a problem, you just want more.

sPvP will always be the minority till we either all find another MMO to get our PvP fix, or when A-net decides to properly reward us. I’m sticking with unranked PvP combined with another game to get my daily dosis of PvP.

Or until the PvP community learns that it turns off so much of the GW2 player base with the toxic attitude it is so well known for. If you want to see nice things come to PvP, it has to be used by a decent portion of the player base, but it’s not likely to see that happen when anyone who doesn’t appear to be totally pro 100% of the time is mocked endlessly.

And that’s not even considering Barrens Chat, err, I mean HotM chat.

I play pvp a bit. I’m not great at all.
I play unranked, though I have seen some people give out about players telling them to go to “hotjoin”, Ive also seen plenty of people argue against that.

I’ve never been attacked about playing bad…and as I’m still trying to find a class/build that works for me, I play badly alot.

lich isn’t great, too slow, love when a necro pops lich. Easiest kill ever.

I know it has it’s moments…but wow, if anyone thinks it’s the most important aspect of a build XD

I have every class that has ever been created in every game, with 100,000 hours played and all characters maxed for PvE with the best epic/legendary/ascended gear at max levels, and unfortunately I can also tell you that Necros are at the bottom by a large margin.

So take my word for it.

If you aren’t doing speed runs though, the class is fine. People just like to be exclusionary in MMOs because it creates a situation where they’re with the “in crowd” when they play the “right” spec/class/etc.

If you ARE doing speed runs and want to be best-in-world, you probably want a different class.

because the game has only been out 2 years and approx 6months
at that time frame..you’d have to be playing an extra 80 hours a day, than a day has………………………………………………

Skip the farming for now; let’s say we have a fair amount of gold, but at the same time, not have the idea of just throwing money at the Black Lion Trader because you have it.

Which is more gold-saving efficient: Buy Ectos or buy the rares to salvage them?

better off to buy the ectos, not the rares… ime.. I get approx 1 ecto every 2-3 rares.

yeah ..it just took me ages to light the fires, due to choosing the wrong time to start or too late to start. I think if lighting the fire was just a small bit quicker, it would’ve been easier for me.

Also getting the divine fire in time, or having to wait for it to show up was a p.i.t.a.
I lag too, so sometimes even if I crossed the blossom bombs directly in the middle of the connecting vines..I’d still get blown to the side, as if I touched the blossoms.

Like I said before, I’m mostly frustrated in the direction anet is going. I can, not enjoy these fights, just as you can enjoy them.

I struggle in pvp, but I avoid hotjoin like the plague. It’s so unbalanced that, and puts me off practising pvp(which I sorely need to do.)
I know it was designed for practice…but it doesn’t work that way and isn’t any fun.

It’s not a PC issue, like half of my guild has this issue on EU in PvP

it’s still down to lag.

just because half your guild has the issue, doesn’t mean they have good computers and/or a good internet connection.

Also the further away you are from the main server the worse your ping.
ie an EU player playing on an NA server is likely to have slower responses than if they played on an eu server.

These Speedhax are called swiftness or frenzybuff and these porthacks are just lags from the servers or you/your enemy

So the necro that out ran my whole team had swiftness and frenzy? Ok got it. Thing is he was snared twice. But it must be lag yes?

Can happen, I’ve outrun teams on my necro before, admittedly not often, but use the right skills at the right time and you can get away.

The client may think otherwise. The player was running away from the hole as he was launched, and seemed to be 210 units away from it. When the launch animation plays, the player sees himself launched near the hole, but not inside it. A few seconds later, he dies from a heart attack.

Maybe the “hard” part is because you really dont want to play this way? I know myself it certainly doesnt help to feel like that, in RL as in games, nothing is easy when you start to hate.

That’s some of it, I suppose…I’m not keen to practice it, because I don’t enjoy it.
I was happy to try the grove boss over and over for achieves (which I have yet to be able to get. ) but really not interested in this boss.

I suppose it comes down to more physical issues than anything.

It’s also somewhat long. I can’t pause it to take a break.. or stop between changes.

Which in solo games, for example bosses like the teragriff, I would pause between it’s change in mechanics.
I can’t do that in an mmo, which is fine, but I would like it greatly if these bosses were a bit shorter..or if they “ran away”, so that you had to chase them (giving you the option to pause before the next ‘level’ of the boss. )

Again, I know that’s my issue.
idk, guess I have to accept to continue to be able to play he game, I can’t solo these things anymore. meh.

I consider myself an quite good player, for me the Story mode bosses/fights were a breeze. I would love if you could go for achievments on the first run, so I don’t have to repeat.

Anyway.

I actually think these bosses (in story) could even be a bit harder. Sorry if sounding harsh, but for “harder” open world events (like successful breach in SW) the average skill level for a player is just… awful. A lot of people do not dodge at lv80, have no idea about core boss mechanics, and refuse to change skills/traits (or listen to any advice).

If anything, these solo bosses should get you ready for more difficult encounters.

And as was said, you can just search for a party at any time, LFG tool is working quite well.

I don’t see how, having a simpler version..with then increasing difficulty in replays would affect you.

I want to be able to enjoy this, too.

Sorry, I’m not as good a player as you….my point with this thread, is if this is the direction anet is going. I know I can’t keep up and it’s disappointing to me.
I picked up this game because of it’s ease.

Also guys..do you really need to be telling me it “wasn’t hard enough” or you want “more of this”…That’s fine. My suggestion doesn’t prevent you having more of it ….what I am suggesting is have it easier than increase in difficulty with the challenge motes.

heck add armour specific to the challenge achieves, then you can have your “respect”.

Up until now, I was able to play and ‘keep up’, just fine, but if the encounters are going to increase in difficulty like this. It’s just. I don’t see me sticking around. And that might not bother you, but I quite like this game…and I would like to experience the story without it being a struggle.

That’s what I’m asking,..I’m not sorry if that bothers you. The LS has increased in difficulty. and not everyone wants that. And it’s not wrong to want the story to be easier.

I probably won’t reply again…..I don’t need to feel worse because I can’t do it…and seems most people had no bother with it. fantastic for them.

To me, there’s too much going on in the fight and it’s not enjoyable.
(I wanted to find others who agree, that it wasn’t enjoyable…..that’s all, even if it’s the minority. )

Usually, I’m the first who complains that content is too difficult. But especially the last 3 episodes are fine from my point of view. Not the achievements (the centaur boss achievements are nearly impossible without expert help), but the normal story is ok.

I spent far too much time in down state, that I gave up.

It’s far too much for me. And my problem with it, is that..to just experience the story…a little easier would’ve been nice.

I play games for the story and for an easy going experience. I generally avoid challenge. (I have enough in rl, I don’t need a game for that.)

and zax, you’re missing my point. I don’t like that anet is increasing the difficulty of the encounters.
Even if I know how to do something, doesn’t mean I can do it, and even if I can, it doesn’t mean it;s something I want to do more of.
(also, I’ve never participated in SAB)

I suppose I just hope anet… considers an easier option. with progressing difficulty for those who actually want it.
