Commander Tag - Not a vanity feature!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Taygus.4571

Taygus.4571

ANet don’t get it…

4-5 tags of different colors.

blue costs 100 gold
Yellow costs 5000 WvW badges
Green costs 1000 dungeon tokens or 1000 fractal relics
Red costs rank 30 PvP
Purple costs 800 gems

etc.

I like it,but then it wouldn’t be a gold sink :P

300 gold for a tag color is too much

it was ludicrous when they charged gold for the comm tag as is.

A needed feature turned into a gold sink.

didn’t stop people buying it though…. ….. why would the coloured tags be any different?

I’m confused..

so if you have one commander tag (blue), you won’t be able to access the other colors unless you purchase them? And you won’t get a refund unless you have purchased more than 4?

the other colours are extras

no one gets access to them unless they buy that specific colour.

The reason for refund at 4+ tags, is because the price is going up, if you’ve only spent 300g (3 tags).. you’re not “losing out”…..

Now the question is.
If I have 2 tags, after the patch, will I have 1 blue and one color of my choice?

nope, you lose out.

Taygus.4571

Wait… so will it convert to account bound in the feature patch or will it be an entirely new item?

Basically if I buy the tag now what happens on the 9th?

It is also important to point out that if you already bought a commander tag, it will become account bound so that when you’ve bought a blue commander tag you’ll never have to spend money on that again

“Yes, so each color is purchased individually, and it is important to note that there is no hierarchy for colors so that you have to purchase blue and then have to go to red or yellow or whatever. ..
so if you bought blue already you can go ahead and buy other colors if you want. "

Sounds like they’ll all be the same price.

tbh, I pug for dungeons/fracs ALOT, I rarely see bleeds above 12stacks..more ften it’s around 6 or so…. (thats bleeds, the condition that tends to get spammed.)

I dont think the cap is a huge issue in instances, definitely more so in open world, but anet knows that and are trying to think of ways to fix that.
The cap will stay, likely bosses will have different buffs etc, that takes down conditions quicker.

The WvW suggestion is also what I use. Also, I have an unbound weapon, 2 or 3 actually, of the type I use on a key run. I mail these individually to a guildie who returns them to me, also individually. This allows me to grab them from the mail to use during the first instance, so any kills I get open skills for the weapon I will be using in the rest of the run. I have an upgraded account bound weapon in my chest that I switch to when I go to WvW to get my armour.

if you go to WvW for the armour, why don’t you pick the weapons from the bank at the same time?
Instead of dealing with mailing them? o0

just go to your WvW borderland when you load into queensdale, crafting table > bank> leave mists.

;)

if you character select after getting stuff from your bank, you will appear where you were before you went to wvw.

There is also a leave WvW button (looks like one for leaving an instance) on the bottom right corner of the WvW panel that appears when you hit your key to access WvW (default key is b) or the WvW icon on the UI, so going to character select and through those loading screens is unnecessary.

yeah the leave WvW, through the button, was what I was talking about. No need for extra loading screens.

Player’s only attempt Teq when they’re making a very organized attempt and they’ll spend hours gathering their forces and getting organized because Teq is that hard. Claw is easy in comparision. Players beat Claw all the time with minimal coordination, so it’s more done. Just less of a hassel. If you want to do Teq, I suggest you track down a Teq slaying guild.

hours ? lol

hard??

30-50min early, to get into a good map for teq, failing that ask if any comms are on your map to tag up, then go to lfg and say “teq map, need comms”.

teq is quite easy, so long as people know what to do.

When I’m trying to taxi someone in,

I’ll often ask in map chat if anyone is mapping, and if they’d mind relogging, so I can taxi friends.

More often then not, I manage to get 2-3 people in, when I post this on map.

I think most people are ok with re-logging to a more empty map if they don’t want to do teq. Be kind, it only takes 1-2mins at most! to reload the map. And by doing so, you open up the spot for someone to do teq.

It’s not that teq needs a full map. (it really doesn’t.) but it people who want to taxi in guildies/friends, who would like to do teq, who tend to ask people who are mapping to re-log.
I mean….it’s just being kind and giving the map spot to someone else, when you don’t need to be in a full map.

My 0.02 would be mixing the new and the old system.

1 – Adept and master traits are unlocked by once the tier is unlocked.
2 – Tomes are needed to unlock trait tiers.
3 – All grandmaster traits are locked and can be unlocked by the current way

IMHO this would not hinder alts and promote some exploration when a character is fairly evolved.

I’m ok this.

Player hacks aren’t a solution to the problems gw2 has, “Oh, just rebind your keys to other things”. They made a crafting item that you can only get one at a time (just like chef things) but in this case you have to use a merchant instead of a plant and you have to abuse the hell out of your mouse to get the huge requirement necessary to unlock even one single skin. Your mouse button (on a gaming mouse) has a MTBF of 1 million clicks. Just maxing out your luck will exceed that. We need to start REMOVING the insane amount of mice this game is destroying by doing a lot of Quality of Life improvements to the interface and functionality of these types of things.

This is like the ascended Thermocatalytic Reagent that ALL recipes require 10 of and we can buy them in packs of 10, then they added a kitten recipe that requires 5 (the new backpack). WTF? Why does everything need 10 and we can buy it in 10? Take the zero off of it. There’s literally no purpose to bulk if it is just a number. It’s nothing but an absurd gold sink that makes no sense.

would like to buy that thermo. (and spools.) in the 100’s…. ..(I often buy 20 clicks at a time..) would prefer just 1 or 2 clicks..or 10..and have it done for a couple of weeks XD.

I personally like how accessible everything is in it’s current state. I’m fine as is, or perhaps improve upon it. Like Rebound mentioned, I’d be disappointed if it were the same old LA as before.

It also splits up traffic to three different locations instead of all in one area of the map. Feels like it’s utilizing more of LA.

It wouldn’t make sense to set up amenities the way they have, just to put it back to same old LA.

I think the amenities will stay as is, maybe improved upon a little.
and the place will be repaired so as not be in semi disarray

WvW for map completion is just pure griefing.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Taygus.4571

However, what they should do is add 2 more map completion achievements. A pure PvE one and a pure WvW one. The current one should be turned into an achievement like the achievements that track meta progression in LS updates. The current update would still hand out the title and the gifts. But those going purely for the 100% map completion don’t wind up with 98% map completion if they despise WvW. And those who solely WvW can have their own 100% achievement as well.

Yes, please! this is definitely what they should do.

Have gift of exploration still require both, ..but having 100pve and 100%WvW as separate achieves would be fantastic!
Tbh, if they change that, they probably should add “explore all poi’s in dungeons” too. (as an achieve only. could give that a title “Dungeon Explorer..” …maybe..)

It’s just a word, don’t focus on this. I just tried to make a difference between a casual and an avid gamer since years. I’d like to hear an answer from you about this topic.

casual and hardcore,
rather than “avid” to describe the different players?

casuals can spend MANY hours in game, it’s not necessarily a time thing. It used to be, yes, not it’s more..
like
The sims, that’s a casual game, seeing it in terms of games, makes it easier to understand the difference between casuals and hardcore gamers.
Time difference, is an old definition, and shouldn’t be held to.

[Suggestion] Account wide harvesting tools

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Taygus.4571

Taygus.4571

The one problem with this is money. Buying one permanent tool for each character gives more money to Anet. Having all characters only needing one of each between them is a considerable loss of profit. I too would love to have every toon share permanent gathering tools but it’s just not a logical move for the company to make.

The thing is, how many people buy 1 for each char?
over how many people WOULD buy it, if it was on all chars?

I have 2 Frost Wasps, I vow to never do that again. I have too many characters, and it’s far far too annoyed.
I’d be willing to pay 1500gems per unlimeted tool, or 500 gems to upgrade old tools into the achievement or something.

I’d also be ok if anet made it cheaper.
ie, bought one 1000gems, next one is 900gems (of the same type only), next 800gems and so on, until free…(I’d probably never reach the free option, but this is ok, still expensive, but ok.)
It would also play on what you’re saying, 1 perm tool per character, It would encourage that.

#shrugs#
Personally I’d prefer acc.wide.

No, I dislike that,

because then I feel I’m losing out if I buy 1000gems every couple months rather than more every few months.

In the end, I’d still be paying the same, but this kind of thing increases how much people feel they “need” to spend.
I love that anet is one of the few games that whether you buy alot of gems, or a few, that prices are exactly the same.

You could have let’s say an entire zone that required people to do events in order to evolve this zone
(build a city and stuff, like we have now) except it’s permanent, as people go and help the zone to evolve it will grow with more npcs, stores, etc…

How permanent?
I can see this being possible spread over a month, example, long term reward tiers as they increase the place changes..and then at the end of the month it resets.
This would be ALOT of programming and map design, however.

in this place however there will be a sleeping dragon that requires that at the end of each set period of time (let’s say, a month for example) people have to donate him a set amount of money / goods, if they don’t the dragon would come and attack the city destroying a lot of the progress made by the players.

So if people donate and it doesn’t get destroyed…then what? it cant keep growing, there’s a limit, this isn’t sims city.

So people either have the choice of making donations for the dragon or defend the city from that attack.

ok

There you go. An event that IMO would be pretty good, and that would actually have something that they promised in the pre-release: Your decisions will make the diffrence.

Not really, being a majority thing.

And since it’s events that slowly progress the map, well, there’s no choices there..it will progress, ..

I think you also mentioned something about the guild that donated the most gets to “own” map?
How does that work?
that also increases competition, not working together, and means you must be in a large guild.

Gear treadmills are not progression. They create the illusion of progression in order to keep you paying a subscription fee. There is a reason they are called “carrot on a stick” and that reason is not complimentary.

In GW2, progression is what you make of it. You set your own goals and then try to achieve them. If you don’t feel like you are progressing it is because you’ve not set progressive goals for yourself. If you are incapable of setting progressive goals, then by all means, return to a game that tricks you into handing them money for no reason.

how come visiting 100% vistas is a more “progressive” goal than earning a new gloves?

now, don’t get me wrong, i don’t want new item tiers. but the magic about them is that they bring new content along.

but why are you trying to say, how this game should be played to people with diffrent expectations?

Gear grind doesn’t bring “new” content. All it does is give the developers an easy way out. They recycle old encounters, old mechanics, slap on a new paint scheme and up the numbers involved. More hp and more defense does not make for a “new” more interesting encounter.

I’m not against having more skins added to the game, just the addition of more stat tiers. I know some people enjoy the hunt for rare, elusive looks and I’m perfectly ok with that. As long as that rare exclusive look is limited to the cosmetic aspect.

They don’t have gear grind but still they are doing everything you say they usually do:
Recyle Old Encounters: CHECK;
Recycle Old Mechanics: CHECK;

The only thing they are missing right now is slapping new paint scheme, but I honestly think that they shouldn’t be far away from that

As I’ve pointed out there is NEW content. You’re saying it’s recycled and I’ve pointed out to you differences. You choose to ignore those differences, saying they’re not different enough. Which is fine. but that’s not what you’re saying.

Anyone saying Dry Top is recycled is being disingenuous. It shows a distinct lack of respect for the amount of thought and energy that went into putting it together.

Dry Top it IS being recycled tho…
You have no new mechanics what so ever in any of the events, the events are diffrent but nevertheless the same. “Dodge this or you fall / die!” / “Clear this zone!” / “Hit this champion!”

What is so diffrent about every other event-based maps?

Oh and by the way, while I was here notice what just happen (attachment), nobody cares, they just farm whatever they want because the kittenty reward system rewards you for that…

So how is the clearing the mine recycled? How is rescuing the 12 people from south mine recycled? How is the light bridge event recycled?

And the whole theme of the zone is new, including the sand storm.

If anything the new Theme is probably the only real New thing

And, there is TONS of events in GW2 that consist of clearing zone X, and there is TONs of events in GW2 that consist of saving people

Please describe, to us, an example of a new and exciting event for you.
thanks.
