I'd pay $50 for a race change...

$50 will net you 4000 gems, and at today’s rate of exchange, 400g. Just create a new char, level, and run waypoints n skill challenges. Don’t even have to do hearts because you already have map completion on another char.

Takes alot more time, then clicking race change, wich would hopefully like using a make over kit.

I expect with the story journal changes, race change is something they’ll look into.

I would like to switch off other players entirely, so not even a basic model, have them gone and their particle effects with them.

actually yeah, more living story seems to be what the majority of players want.

I also like that they’re still balancing current skills to remove any over powered ones, and trying to buff under powered ones.

The last thing we need is more over powered skills. or under powered skills.

I suppose I have to disagree. I see more people clamoring for skills, dungeons and dungeon fixes, pre cursor crafting, etc.

I don’t see people salivating for the next crumb of the story to be released.

That’s because people who are happy, are playing the game not complaining

I loved the large scale of ls1. I’m not much fan of this instant content, and I haven’t played it much either.

idk, partly becomes it’s permanent, I can play it any time, that I’m really not keen to play it.

The “this is only going to be here for 2 weeks :O” Was great, it felt lively, exciting. I loved that it was temporary, and I had missed alot of LS1 because of it.

Idk, I won’t quit the game or anything, but so far this LS, is not as fun for me.

fyi, shatterer pre-event was fixed to no longer up scale, you have to collect the same amount regardless of how many players are there.

There’s a post about that somewhere
__
btw, I find behe WAY too boring, it’s now too long, and you can still afk it.

The unique drop is good, and other bosses should all have their own unique drops.
However the schedule would need to rotate weekly or monthly so that players that can only get on, on the same time every day, aren’t stuck to the same boss daily.

I don’t want any of the skins from Dry Top — they aren’t bad at all, but there’s always something I prefer. I don’t want the vine/plant, for me they’re overpriced. I don’t want Nomad gear, I have no use for those stats. So I have geodes and keys and sand and nothing to do with them. I have no reason to go back to Dry Top after I’ve done LS, skill points and vistas.
[/quote]

’what if currencies were convertible similar to gold to gems? or gems to gold.?

If alor of people a converting a certain currency to another. It would encourage some of those people to actually go do the other content.

Though some will still stick to doing what they prefer most.

Less played areas would have the better deal in converting, than those in well-played areas. So it would work as bonus without implementing a bonus.

idk, I’m sure some would disagree but I think this would work better than a set currency rate.

The intent of the Renown Heart system was originally to help players find event content. They also provide a decent method for us to give the player some context and awareness of what’s going on in the area. There are probably a few issues in that design which we could discuss. We could also let it suffice to say that hearts do not make the best repeatable content the game has to offer.

On the topic of keeping players engaged with open world content, I think this goal may be for more approachable from a different angle. Consider Dry Top, which has no hearts. Players on that map are participating in events all the time, largely on the premise that each event contributes to both map-level and personal-level goals. This gives me the notion that with a little help at the system level, events can and should be the bulk of repeatable open world content in Tyria.

I’d be very interested in hearing your thoughts on that.

I’d love something like dry top on other maps.

That all events completed contribute to greater rewards, or even map specific skins. That’d be cool!

Though would you end up spreading player base too thin to reach “higher tiers”? Maybe if it had unlimited time to reach? (though that could be a problem too)

Wouldn’t having account wide hearts limit available experience for leveling alts?

yes.
but

I have leveled my mesmer, without completing a single heart. (yes, not one, )

Surely by the time all hearts are complete you know the best ways to level. You know how dynamic events work (the original way to level).
You’ll probably use crafting or EOTM, dungeon switching, and likely you’’ll explore the places you need asap.

But not everyone plays that way. (Lol I just had this argument with someone else that was berating me for using dungeon swapping for experience) Some people like doing hearts (stop cringing), so for them account wide hearts would be detrimental. I don’t feel we should negate their play style just because it doesn’t suit us.

I never said we should.
Just something I’d love.

Would be excellent, if anet could implement something that would suit both.
Like if the scout had an option.

“Would you like to combine your characters efforts in heart quests” yes/no
“Would like to remove current character from combined efforts”yes/no
(all newly created character would be out of the combined efforts until you go to a scout and “combine”.)

Win -win? :P

Wouldn’t it be better from a non-skipping, non-kicking standpoint to put a behind-the-scenes field on a character when you enter the dungeon and kill bosses – it would take a little bit of work, but shouldn’t be too terrible to code:

Field: “BossesKilled”
– on dungeon entrance and/or exit, field is set to 0
– Belka dies, code fires [BossesKilled +1] (total = 1)
– Abom dies, code fires [BossesKilled +1] (total =2)
– Lupi dies, code fires [BossesKilled +1] (total =3)
– etc.

Then, on the final boss of the dungeon, have a quick code check for BossesKilled > 0 for any party member. This way, if the soloer is kicked, the end boss cannot be triggered or killed, or have the instance start over at the beginning. I could foresee some crazy testing needing for this, but it could solve the problem of kicking a soloer, at least. There would be no incentive to steal an instance because it wouldn’t be possible any more.

thats a big waist of time when all we really need for a perfect solution is non kickable party leaders

yes that sounds great. because now I can be the leader go AFK call every player names AND keep trying to kill people with un needed pulls and they can’t stop me MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! or maybe this is not such a good idea hm?

This doesn’t happen as often as unfair kicks.

I’ve joined many dungeons, and open many. I’ve never seen the party leader purposely be an idiot, except in one fractal run on the final boss. The leader laughs at us and leaves the party.

I have seen party leaders end up afk, but if there was an idle timer in parties.
eg. idle for 5min, and the game logs you out and “leaves” the party thats fine.

If the opener leaves, the dungeon should stay open. I’m happy with the change for this.

But they need to look into the kick system before they implement this.

No further ideas beyond increasing votes to 3 and other stuff you mentioned, but I just wanted to approve this topic.

I’m personally super in favor of adding a ‘’party leader’’ function, where he is the one who can decide on these things a lot more. This gives people a lot more protection to being kicked for no reason.

No. Having a party leader is a terrible idea because it just makes it so the leader can have total freedom to kick anyone “for no reason”.

actually what it suggested is that the party leader would have the “deciding vote”, big difference from a one vote kick. But any kick will require the party leader agreeing to it.

Dungeon grouping - the real solution.

Dungeons used to give tokens at every boss, they changed it so people wouldn’t just run the first boss over and over.

They could make it so the later bosses give you more tokens than the earlier ones, of course that won’t stop people running the first boss over and over but it would make it less profitable. This wouldn’t completely fix the kicking right before the end boss dies, but at least you get something even if you go straight after the first boss.

They already have a system in place where you can only claim a “big” chest once a day per path. (kholar in ac, the burrows.) if you do p1 twice before reset, those chest won’t show up for you..

Even if you only do as far as kholar p1, and restart, it won’t be there.

I know. But I should only get tokens for actually completing the dungeon, not killing the spider 3 times for 3 different paths. You don’t get pristine fractal relics for doing swamp and ascalon and quitting. You shouldn’t get tokens for doing half a dungeon.

I’m not agreeing with his suggestion.. ….(or disagreeing, totally indifferent to it, tbh.)

but if you did choose to do spider 3 times, you’ll only get enough tokens as if one path run, rather than if you had done all 3 paths.

Anyway, I just wanted to point out, it’s not like they could do it over and over again. Only once per path, per day.

Simple (or not) Dungeon Owner fix

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Taygus.4571

Taygus.4571

NO NO NO… Nobody should ever be kicked from the dungeon just because the party leader (or anybody else) gets kicked.

I am not sure why a few people on the forums keep asking for this as a remaining “feature”…. Nobody should ever be kicked out of the dungeon if someone is kicked – end of story.

That gives dungeon leaders WAY too much power. If the leader is vote kicked, leader should transfer as normal.

So, even dungeon sellers? Those who legitely ran a dungeon solo and sell the places at the end. (something anet allows.) Should be allowed to be kicked?

This is the problem, if anet changes the dungeon ownership without fixing kick abuse.

rude players should not have all the power. This change is justified. Deal with it.

The problem is, this gives every rude player ALL the power.

You see the faults in this system right?..no?

The kick system needs to be changed before this change is implemented. Nobody should be afraid to pug because of being kicked on a whim.

It was already risky enough starting a run with 2 or more players of the same guild. (not your own.).
Now EVEN the opener isn’t safe to abuse, something people used to at least be able to count.

(and in most cases the dungeon opener is the party “leader”/group organiser. And should be,)
There needs to be someone who is the leader of a party. It’s just too open to trolls now.

(I do think if the leader LEAVES….the instance should always pass on, because that’s annoying too.)

DO NOT change the dungeon owner system

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Taygus.4571

Taygus.4571

And here we see the problems with changes.

Because I personally LOVE this change. I’ve had FAR more dungeon runs end because the dungeon “owner” DCed or rage quit (more than I can count) than end because I was kick scammed (never… and I main a ranger).

His fix would not affect your play.

The instance SHOULD change ownership is the opener goes offline for 5 min, or leaves the party.

however if kicked, the instance should dissolve.

This would keep the protection we need, but also save a dungeon should the opener leave. Win-win for everyone.

Please add restrictions to kicking.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Taygus.4571

they should at least increase the number of people to kick. 3 or 4.

if 4 random people that don’t know each other want to kick you, and you are the party leader, you probably deserve it.

I made a post of ending up in a party with 4 of the one guild.
It was a terrible run. (no proper coordination between players.) If I wasn’t opener they would’ve kicked me.
because hey, can’t kick guildies and someone’s gotta be to blame.

Another time I had to afk for 5 minutes.(literally 5mins.). I come back to them talking about if they can kick me, but oh can’t because I was opener.

so god forbid you need break in the middle of a dungeon/get a call or whatever.

I’m not saying the majority of players are like this, but they’re not a minority either. There’s enough of them, that it’s a real problem.
Also by having kick immunity, if I felt someone in party was kicked unfairly or I could re-invite them to the party. This will no longer be the case.

Kick abuse is a real issue, and happens too often for anet to implement this without something in place.

Actually, as said earlier in the thread, is it possible to flag a difference between kick and leave?

So if the Dungeon Instance owner is kicked the dungeon ends, the kick flags the dungeon to end completely.

But if the instance owner leaves for some other reason then it passes to the next player as the flag was not triggered.

I really want to know if this is possible!

There’s one thing that really worries me about this. I normally open my own instances to “protect” me I guess. I’ve had one run once, with 4 others, all of the same guild. The run had some major failings and mistakes.
With this system they can just kick me (because we can’t blame other guildies of course >> ….) without any repercussions.

Another time half way through the dungeon I had to brb for 5 min, and the party members talked of kicking me, but realised not to because I was the instance owner.

I’m not sure this change is an improvement.

If the instant owner LEAVES, then it should pass on to another player. It should not pass on if the instance owner is kicked.
__
It also could be potentially troublesome for dungeon sellers. Who might kicked after their solo run.

I think putting this in place without setting up some safety measures to prevent kick abuse is a bad idea.

Please take the time to read this post ive thought an enormous amount about this, please don’t remove it either im not trying to be cynical, just realistic to the playerbase who commits to this game for specific reasons.

After all of gamescon and recent interviews, what we’ve pretty much obtained from the devs is “if you like wvw, spvp, fractals/dungeons, then too bad because we’re working too much on the living story to do any content/features for that.”

What we learned from gamescon interviews.
- No new dungeons planned for a while, too much effort, fractals easier. Fractals have only ever had 1 update which shows how little committment they had. They specifically said “there are so many parts of the game to commit to thats its hard to do this as well”.
- WvW updates comes extremely infrequently as well. And when they do, we get what happened with this feature pack. A handful of changes that take a week.
- sPvP has taken 2 years to develop to a state thats almost esport-ish. We still have like 3 new maps and 1 gamemode after 2 years. This is not even remotely close to enough development to support an esports type of scene.

All of these things were big things at launch, implemented in the game. Bigger than the LS that didn’t exist then. For some reason this has changed. Anet still has their eye set on the living story.

At least with the first living stoyr we saw a diveristy in content, which was yes a complaint which is why they separate living story from feature patch now. But there are so many things that are considered content that don’t fit in the living story or features patches. Let me give a list

Fractals
WvW maps
sPvP maps/modes
New dungeons or revamped dungeons
Guild missions(also completely abadoned)

At first I had some hope that “hey well the devs technically can find a place to fit this in during the living story, they just need to give a lore reason behidn it so it fits in the story.” Thats exactly what they did in the first season. Except this tiem around they show no interest in doing anything but open world content and living story instances. They sound like they actually can’t do more than that because its too much.

Anyway im giving up on this game because Anet really has pushed me and many other parts of the community away for only one part of the game. Interviews gave this away and if you all want to be honest with yourself, then you should do the same.

I don’t hate the living story by any means, but if its all Anet can do, then they’ve failed. If they have no other big projects in the background then they will dissappoint the community even more because what they are doing right now is not working at all.

I’m quite happy with the game. I spend 90% of my game time out side of WvW PvP and dungeons/fractles. I’ve played since beta, but I’ve probably played a quarter of your total play time. I’ve only totalled 1000 hours. And even though I’ve mapped the world on my main when I play my alts or go to an area that I’ve not been in for awhile I find things I missed hell I was in queens Dale doing dailies and I found a cave full of wolves. Never seen it before. And I’ve levelled 4 toons through there. In an MMO you make your own fun. And I’m quite good at doing that.

aye, the other day I was leveling an alt, and joined up in this “mini moa” event, where you have to catch them into the pen. I’ve mapped queensdale twice and not came across that. I actually followed the couple of events after, and bought me some dancing moas XD.
(shame the item is soulbound though…anet..why..why ……account bound would be fine! T_T..)

I have a question about the economy.
If we make items bought on the TP account bound(eg: t1-6 mats), and can be only unbounded when used for crafting or salvaging them.
How do you think it will affect the prices of items in the TP?

considering those mats aren’t actually worthwhile flipping,( for the most part. )
Probably no affect.

The real issue would not be prices but implantation. Everybody would need to stacks of such mats, 2 collection tabs.
1 for the acc.bound version and one for the sellable version.

It’s not really viable like that.

We knew that we needed to do more for communication. This has only been even more obvious this week. This has nothing to do with PR and everything to do with doing a better job with the connection with the community.

Not to continually jump on you, or anything, but, again; this isn’t the first time you’ve said such things.

So in order to do more than just jump up and down and proclaim “you already said that!” a million times, I’d like to ask a serious question of you, if I might, Chris;

You’ve now stated that you know that better communication is needed, and that it’s even more obvious as of this passing week. So my question is this:

What are you guys going to actually do about it? What is going to occur in order to foster this discourse?

Personally I am looking forward to building a better bridge.

Before one can build a bridge, they must build a solid foundation for said bridge.

We are going to streamline our methods of communication and put more manpower toward communication.

I know I have said that I have wanted a better bridge in the past but I am a developer and I just cannot absolutely commit to 100% CDI/Communication problem solving due to responsibilities elsewhere. Therefore we are as Mo has stated focusing on this from a company perspective now.

Thanks for your feedback.

Chris

This is good to hear.
We have all missed hearing from the dev’s. It’s very important for us to know/see we’ve been heard, even if you can’t discuss much or have little time, to say “we are looking into it”. Is really important for us, to know our feedback is appreciated and under consideration.
or it;s not under consideration. That’s important to know too. To know that “sorry that’s not something we’re looking into at this moment, or that’s not something that can be done.”

Just to hear from ye. And we (who love this game.) appreciate the communication and your efforts.

All new characters of mine come already with all traits EXCEPT the new grandmaster level ones already unlocked, I’ve no clue how or why… but in speaking with others it appears to be an anomalous case. That said, if somebody is going to come fix me then they need to have a look at my account loot tables which I swear are worse than they should be (based on fellow party member’s drops).

any alt created before the patched released had all traits unlocked except the new grandmaster traits.

Thanks everyone for giving us some feedback on this system we’ll meet internally and discuss this system some more as I think there are a lot of valid points being brought up here.

Belinda’s death was pretty tragic, and that your mentor died wen you play as vigil

Thanks for the spoiler

you click a thread stating “saddest thing you’ve witnessed”..and you’re surprised there are spoilers??? O_O

the person who managed to die and keep the quaggan transformation, that was a “sad” moment ..cause dead quaggan ):.. …funny too though XD.

Other than that..nothing really, the story telling hasn’t managed to make me feel excited/sad or even bemused…. I just trudge through it …and play more for the socialising aspect, than the story.

Either that or precursor forging has existed for the last year and we just aren’t smart enough to have unlocked it. That’s why they won’t tell us, they’re disappointed in us. :-(

LMFAO, ….imagining that XD.

Yeah,
I thought he was just being silly/joking. Not trying to create hype ..or make it seem like there’s a superty duperty recipe we haven’t discovered yet.

How can you show off with 300g ? 300g is nothing now, because of the inflation/devaluation.
It’s just the old 100g.

Stop PvEing and play WvW for an entire week, at the end if the week tell me how much gold you make compared to your regular play style.

There are many people who command and WvW exclusively who don’t have 300 gold. I’ve never had more than 360 gold myself and all I do is WvW, I’ve not even done any of the new living story content.

Charging players for a tool designed to make organization easier is a joke too.

I guess you don’t sell your crafting mats?

You mean the crappy tier materials you find in the Boderlands? And let me stop commanding/responding to an attack to mine every node on the way.

Commanders don’t have the luxury of stopping 20 people to mine every resource node on the map when moving to A to B.

You get plenty heavy loot bags, .. save up 250 or 500, then open, then sell all you get.

easy gold.

And yes, it is, you can get quite alot of good loot from those heavy bags. And depending on the skirmishes you can end up with alot of those bags in sitting.

So unless you’re not killing anything…I find it hard to believe that you are really making nothing.
Yes, you don’t make hard gold as easy as pve players, this is balanced in that you get crafting materials easier.
