Then i wish you never get bored of doing the same thing everyday.. like millions of past and gone GW2 players have experienced.

If that is SOOOOO much fun .. why are you here then ? Why don’t you play any of
the games out there with those feature instead of trying to destroy GW2 for all
player who love the game for what it actually is ?

I just can’t understand why people that seem to hate this game so much and love
other games sooo much more .. simply don’t play those other games.

i dont hate Gw2.
i love it, but i can feel the creeping feeling of Bordem knockin at my door as soon as i log on.

i would love to say theres something fun to look forward to on this game but REALISTICALLY there isnt.

im a hardcore gamer i played pretty much every MMO out there. and currently GW2 is my main one. but i know when something is dying out and what of.
WoW – 7 years
Runescape – 2 years
Gw1 – 3 years
Skyrim – 2 years ( if you count that)

and currently Gw2- 2 years

Experience has taught me when things need to change.

Wait..so because you got bored with the games after that time, means those games, instantly died? WoW is still going fairly strong. GW1 has been around for much longer than 3 years…
I’m not gonna google how the other games are doing, but simple, a game might “die off” for you, but that doesn’t mean it’s no longer being played. and has shut down.

Games don’t have to stay top of the market to do well, and no game can cater to every type of player, it’s best they find the player they want to cater to, and maybe add a few things for others, but the majority of stuff will always be with their main players in mind.

yeah its a very stale game at level 80.

there is no depth to this game. i play it everyday just to do the daily, so when the times comes that there is actual DEPTH to the game i got alot of laurels and gold to spend for it.

but until then its just a chore.

id like to see the following:
-City Raids
-racial Fights ( char vs Human )
-Combat mini ( pokemon type of mini game)
- more achieveable Factions ( Priory, Whisperers, Vigal are not enough)
- world pvp
-Unpredictable Dynamic events ( we can predict boss spawns make it boring)
- more Non racial citys. ( lions arch is the only one we have…again boring.)
-more level 80 content in low level areas.( we are stuck to a handful of 80 content)

You probably didn’t get the memo. This game was designed with cooperative PvE in mind and all the design decisions have been based around that. It’s not going to change. Anet would lose their core game population if they did the stuff you want them to do.

they would lose couple thousands of old gw2 players yhh your right..

but gain Sooo many new players.

lose couple thousand.. gain couple million,

all im stating is that if the game stays like it is, it will die.

changes do need to be made.

TBF, they could do your pvp ideas in a well seperate WvW. (so not pve)
for example.
Copies of
Quensdale – Human
Ascolonian -Charr
and I can’t remember the other starting zones =.=.

Anyway. You open your WvW section, click Human.
End up in a pvp eotm like map of queensdale. And you can then see how humans are fairing against the charr, asura, etc in that map. There would be some adjustments needed to make it more WvW like .. but have it a WvW with the 5 races, .. or they could rotated it. Queensdale Humans vs Charr, next Week Humans vs Asura etc.

But it would be a special map in the WvW tab ….
Or perhaps they could make a mini pve.
So starter areas or w/e, they could randlomly pick pve maps per week for it. Would need some adjustments ..but in this “mini pve world” it would be pvp, could be all against everyone or race against race. and because it would be a copy of a pve map, hearts/poi’s etc done there would count. But nobody would HAVE to be there.

I think this could be alot of fun, without affecting pve’ers. It also wouldn’t need a new map created, but a seperate server that would rotate through pve maps per week.

I don’t know how easy or difficult it would be to implement, but I think it’d make alot of pvp’ers happy.

Delete inactive character names, please.

they payed for the game, they have every right to keep their name.
sorry to burst your bubble but how would you feel if you return to give it another try and be forced to rename all your character, i bet you’ll be kittened.

Wrong. If I took a year+ break I would not feel entitled to keep my names.

You might not, others though might.

People stop playing for any number of reasons.
Army/illness/studies.
a year for these things might not be fair, and they might not be in a place to even think about gaming, but that doesn’t mean they’ve quit entirely.

Just come up with some new names, it’s not that hard.

Try having first and last names.

Compare the open world content to high level Fractals.
Which gets more frequent updates and new content.
Now. Which gets played more often? Which one doesn’t because of the lack of updates and repetitiveness?

FOTM alone is makes less than 1% of the whole the available PvE content hence gets played far less.

And I’ve never heard of Lord Of The Rings online.
Provide the same info with Wildstar.

It’s been provided for Guild Wars 1 and WoW. Can’t give you info on Wildstar, but I’d bet that if the game doesn’t attract and hold casuals the game will end up with a very small player base.

Do you guys not listen to what devs have said from different games over the years?

You think GW2 has a massive player base? (not including china) I would be shocked if theres even close to 50k concurrent players at peak times in EU+NA

Regardless, the point I think is that there is MORE THAN ENOUGH casual content in this game already.
What on earth could possibly drive away more players than it already has to add just something remotely challenging content or revamp dungs to add a harder mode with better rewards? even if everyone can’t do it, its something to progress towards. compared to other terrible forms of progression this game has.

Right..
how often id lv50 fractals completed?
Do you play lv50 fracs? in zerk ascended gear?

How often does arah get completed? (can you solo arah? )
or TA aetherblade path?

The majority of the community don’t want to even aim to be able to complete them.

And most importantly, for the hardcore players, how long do these dungeons stay challenging?

Really? You are using Fractals lv50 as if it was EVEN close to a good dungeon! For you to even get to level 50 you have to play the same fracts over, and over, and over, and over, and over and over! With the same boring-kitten mechanics and same scenarios OVER AND OVER again. People don’t play lv50 fracs not because they are too hard to do, but because nobody feels like grinding the same scenarios over and over again just so that later they can do the same scenario but slightly harder.

How is that not Endgame??
Endgame is by definition repeating the same dungeon every week until you have the gear to progress to the next level.
Just because Fractals don’t match YOUR idea of endgame, does not mean it isn’t Anet’s idea of endgame.

If you don’t like it then their are a plethora of other games that offer conventional endgame.

Fractals are probably one of the worse dungeon instances out there (from every MMO).

well, now your just in the land of personal opinion. If you dont like fractals, what makes you think you would like any dungeons they ever make?

CoF, Ascalonian Catacombs are pretty good

LOL, picks the easiest dungeons in game. LOL,

(and I pointed out about Dark Souls, that there are more casual games, than hardcore games. Tell me, why is that? )

Are you actually implying that there is any hard dungeon in this game?
And that’s not true. And still I don’t know who keeps thinking that endgame = hardcore but sure.
The games making more success atm are the ones that are challenging and with high replay value.

You’re the one who keeps pointing out hardcore endgame. Not I. I pointed out how everything in this game IS endgame to me.

Secondly, there are challenging dungeons, if there weren’t pugging for them would be easy.
The first time some of dungeons were done, were quite difficult, as you get to know them, they become easier, which proves my point, made in comments above.

All the same, you picked the 2 dungeons, just about everyone does, because they are easy and quick..and yet you want challenging content?

Anyway, it’s clear from your posts, even you don’t really know what you want, so I’m leaving this discussion. Hope you find a game that has the endgame you want.

High lvl fracs is about the only thing I do with my group of guildies… its pretty kitten easy when you are with a group who knows what they are doing.done plenty of em, the only reason we continue to do them is because of fractal skins.. they aren’t hard at all, and yes, all of us run em in ascended zerk gear… why bother with any other type of gear in PvE?

Soloing a dung? why on earth do I want to waste time doing that? This is an MMO, if I want to solo, I play single player games lol. People play MMOs to do fun and challenging content with their group of friends…I would be bored to death if I’m soloing a freaking dung. Dungs also have pathetic rewards lol.

Then pug them, for the extra challenge. Those questions were for Godzella anyway.

If you solo arah, you can sell the spots for pretty decent “reward”.

However you’ve totally ignored the point of my questions.
How MANY people actually do it?
How many people actually want challenging content?
and How long does it stay challenging for the hardcore player?

No company can produce content quick enough for hardcore players, and tbh, it’s not worth it to them, to try. As you’re a minority.

This game as about 15~20% of its original playerbase. Yeah, I guess we are a minority :P

Numbers off the top of your head? links for proof please.

Someone posted links above of various mmo’s that pointed out their hardcore players were a minority. A very tiny minority. You don’t have to like it, .. but if companies themselves are pointing out you’re a minority, it might be time you accept it.

btw, I noticed you compared an mmo to games like Dark Souls, a single player game.

If you want to look at things from that end. There are more casual games, with a total of FAR higher sold numbers, than your hardcore games

Also, if you could, please answer my questions. because you obviously think it’d be the best thing for anet and the gaming community to work on more hardcore instances. (that almost nobody plays, and those that do, complain they are easy..which duh, anything you learn/do enough times becomes easy. )

I quite enjoy fractals, tyvm. I love how they’re set up I love that you can experience them in easier, or grind to play, difficulties.
I love that bad players generally don’t play higher level fractals.

Because some of us want to play a multiplayer game with that kind of sensibility and that was lacking in MMO space. That’s why. That’s exactly why.

Are you saying someone who enjoys that KIND of experience can’t also be social and want to play with other people? I bet there are a lot more of us out here than you think their are.

I’m a social guy. I like being in my guild. I like playing with friends. And I like not having to sit there and plan a raid for an hour before I jump in and attempt to run it so I might or might not get gear I need to go to the next raid. I don’t want an instanced game. I want to play in the open world.

I’m happy to trade Skyrim’s solitude for a social MMO that centers around stuff I enjoy.

There are dozens of MMOs for people who like other stuff. Can’t we just have one?

Nope, that makes no sense. This game as no “Social Features”. You have chat and that’s it. You can Play with your friends and like your guild in a game that’s well made

You’ve got to be joking. You don’t need social features to play with people. Want to hear a social feature? Mumble. That’s a social feature.

We do our guild missions together, run dungeons together, clear zones together. I can’t do that in Skyrim.

I’m not sure why you don’t understand this.

So… when exactly does “Start Having End-Game Features” start overidding “Being Able to Play With Friends and/or Guild”?

It’s changing the game, that’s what it has to do with it. You asked the question, I answered. This is how the conversation went.

I play this game and like it, without a traditional end game. Traditional end games tend to make the community more competive rather than cooperative. I wanted a cooperative non-competitive PvE experience to enjoy with friends. This game offers that.

Traditional end games creates haves and have nots. That’s not what the devs are trying to do here. You suggest that many of the things I like would be better in single player games and you’re right about that. But you’re leaving out the social aspect.

People have come on these forums asking for things like dueling, dps meters, gear check, all the things that come with the end game you want. And every time someone posts for stuff like this, there’s a bunch of people who shout it down. Not one or two. A bunch of people. Why?

Because those things ruin the type of game we want to play. Adding the types of things you’re asking for will inevitably lead to the kind of game I don’t want to play.

And because there are dozens of games made for you and only one game (so far) made for us, it would be nice if it remained a game for us.

If by a bunch of people you mean something 5. And as far as Im noticing there are equally the amount of people supporting this idea. And by the way: At no point in time does having end-game features change at all the game, other than expand its longetivity and giving something to do when waiting for content.

In general, people who are happy with the game,..are playing the game, and not spending time checking forums.
You will get less replies from those who are happy with the game.

Thankfully anet has an idea of what most of their players like, and seem to balance things around the majority.
Alot of people who choose GW2 as a game, do so for the 2 week update. Because it’s fresh and new. You don’t have to play the same mmo every day, advantage of no sub fee.
I like GW2 just as it is. I do teq, rarely because of the crappy time it’s at now. and I almost never do wurm, because it requires more organisation than I bother with. I think, this is the case of the majority of GW2 players, who don’t want to sit around waiting to have fun.
This is where Dry Top, excels, it requires organisation for tier 5, but you can still have fun and take part in lower tiers. There’s pretty much always something going, even though it’s on a timer, means there’s no waiting to have fun.
Seeing how busy Dry Top has been, I think this is what most players are looking for.

(oh, this was a reply to the guy who made a comment about teq, more than you.)

Some progression features, btw, DO change endgame, gear progression that locks you out of certain content, changes endgame.
Skill progression that isn’t balance well, will change endgame for everyone.

To me, endgame, is pvp/wvw/fractals/ascended/ledgendary/collecting skins/collecting Mini’s/LS/achievements/RP … and just doing what I find fun.
e.g BLTC key farming, exploring, Living Story, Leveling, dungeons, changing character look, making gold by playing the tp or crafting, mining,

Basically EVERYTHING in this game, is end game.

yeah, it seems quite unfair that it’s more expensive to gear based on your class. They should all be equal.

People play games not because they like looking at stuff but because of the experience-reward balance. If you have a lot of great maps and no reward for that the game becomes boring and pointless. If you have a lot of rewards for a bad expirience you get a really frustrating game. So saying that this game is just seeking the Not Need To Work For Anything expirience, im sorry but that’s bs.

People?
I play because I like looking at stuff, thank you very much. I play to have fun, not grind. I won’t do something over and over if I feel it’s boring. (Dry Top atm, is boring for me, so I won’t play it…)
But that’s a GREAT thing. I don’t like it, and I don’t have to play it to keep up.

I have another question. In WvW and PvP how do you level up? Aren’t you automatically scaled to level 80?

you can earn exp as a level80
and yes that experience will count towards whatever your real level is.

Edge of the Mists, is the place to level at the moment, with experience boosters, you can get about 5levels per hour there.
And it doesn’t cost you. (aside from the boosters. or guild flag things.)

I mention this, as 30gold won’t take you far in crafting, if you are going that way, I’d suggest using a crafting booster. It makes a difference!

Taygus.4571

I would play the content of the game but if i use the normal way i probably never get to lvl 80 lol.
So is it posible to transfer 2500 gems to coins and the leveling up by crafting??

That’s not true, you get about 1 level per hour, ..up to about 5levels per hour, depending on boosters and content.
But even then 80hours to level your first class, that’s not bad.

You don’t need to be level80 for WvW or PvP. and both can help you level. WvW experience is same as pve.
PvP will give you leveling tombs.

Dungoens start at level 30 for story mode and level35 for explore mode. (ascalonian catacombs.) best to start up your own lfg stating your level in this case, though as most people want level 80’s to get through the dungeon easier and quicker.

If you like pve, why would you want to skip most of the content by jumping to level80? Explore the world and the various starter zones. You will learn alot about the game and your character that way. Rather than hitting level 80 and likely being one of those people who say “GW2, no end game!!”. Because you skipped everything that makes this game.

Just enjoy the world, and if you want to pvp, well you don’t need lv80 for that.

__
I don’t understand why people want to skip the leveling process of their first character… second or third, I understand, but first?

This is what I was afraid of. * I was hoping perhaps that they would change it so that you’d be able to get all the rewards at tier 1*and that each tier afterwards would reduce the cost of the items, but that doesn’t appear to be how they did it. It sucks, to be honest. I still need my ambrite weapons.

Thats what I thought it would be when I first saw the tiers.

A benefit/encouragement to getting higher tiers, but no one is limited to having to get those higher tiers.

This is how it should be. I hope anet changes the tier merchants, similar to how they changed the bronze pavilion.

People don’t want to be forced into guilds, just to complete content. Most people don’t want raids like what’s in other MMO’s.

Why support this game?

I love this game, I buy the odd gems when I can, because I love this game.

They’ve only recently re-vamped the hero panel. I’m sure saving specs is being worked on.

When you say “years”, the game is only reaching the 2 year mark. That’s still very early for the game. Not saving specs, though annoying, doesn’t ruin the game for me.

Some devs reply, most don’t, because it’s better they don’t. And that’s fine. I don’t need dev response to know that they are reading, and they do work on bugs. Just some are easier to fix than others.

Anyway all this has been said before.
I support when I can, because I really like this game. I like the LS, and how it’s progressing. I like the style. I have fun, and I’ve spent alot of time in this game. Idk how many console games I’d have to go through to spend the same amount of time.

Gem Store: Mining Picks/Axes/etc. worth it?

You never have to buy another of that tool again.

No need to carry spares.

It takes no inventory slot.

No chance of ruined materials due to the wrong tool.

but..if you play alot of alts, you have to switch it between them, which gets annoying fast.

tbh OP, only the watchwork one is worth it.
They’d be more worthwhile if I didn’t need to stop at a bank when I switch alts.

Sorry, I don’t think parking my characters at a bank when I log off an inconvenience. Also I play characters in bursts and not alternate them during the play session. The tool is just too useful not to take the 2 minutes to transfer them.

Would an “Account” bag be useful, sure, but that’s not the topic, the topic is “are they worth it” and now after having one for a month I have to say, enthusiastically, yes. It’s like cruise control and an automatic transmission. Once you have them, you can’t imagine living without them. It’s one less thing to worry about.

I switch my characters alot in a play session. I have crafts on different characters for one.
Sometimes I play an alt for 20min, sometimes an hour, sometimes 5min, to constantly stop at the bank before and after switching, it’s annoying, and takes too long.

And because of this, most of the time I just use ori tools on all the chars. I’d pay a premium for them to be unlocked on all characters. (but not 1000gems PER char, for me and alot of people, they are not very convenient this way. )

Home Portal Stone Question

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Taygus.4571

Taygus.4571

I don’t think it will work that way for key runners. If it transports them to the home instance it will be the one with the nodes, not the story instance. They would have to leave it then re-enter it from outside. No time savings at all.

I’m not certain if it is the same for everyone, but in the past for me, if I ever had a story step in my home instance then I was required to complete that step in it before I could enter into the basic instance to mine the nodes.

I do not think it is possible to enter into the non-story step racial home instance while a story step is currently active in the home instance.

Again, I’m not certain, but it is possible that the teleportation stone will automatically place you into the story instance of the home instance if the current story step takes place inside of the home instance (based on my own experience with being unable to enter into the non-story version while a story step is active in the instance).

I seem to recall seeing double options to enter Salma when partied up with another person. An option to join the other person when they enter the story instance and under that an option to enter the non story instance Salma. (I approached the door after he did so his option came up and then the second one appeared under it).

I admit I’m not positive, it was some time back and I didn’t have any reason to take special notice. If that person is available to check, I’ll try to do so in a day or two but this thread will probably old by then.

That’s exactly what happens, you can approach the door and shuffle about a bit to get “enter home instance”, instead of the story step.

i want the wings back

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Taygus.4571

Taygus.4571

Nope, the holo and teq wings were tied to achievement title tracks. If you completed them then you deserved to have those wings. If Anet made them available through crafting or some other such way, the player backlash would be quite serious. Allowing crafting of it would be basically the same as giving it away.

You might have a slim chance of seeing them again if Anet bring back Dragon Bash but otherwise you’ll just have to live with not ever getting them.

FYI I missed out on the Teq wings, which may have been nice for my necro. I had the shattered holo wings but they were applied over a fractal capacitor which I later put through the mystic forge to infuse thus losing the wing cover. I’m none too fussed as I got tired of the flappy nonsense.

So tough luck if you didn’t have the game at the time?

Also anet has brought back many rewards, this is just another one. And the likely will bring it back.

(Also, apparently the forums don’t think “naive” is a word, and it keeps wanting to auto-correct it. It keeps making the single dot on the letter I into two dots.)

It’s not the forums, but your own spell checker. (most internet browsers have an inbuilt spell checker.)
and naive with 2 dots is actually the “correct” spelling.

[SUGGESTION] Improve Party Kick System

Other day I joined an ac p2 party. That specified only wars and one ele. (I don’t mind, I was an ele, wasn’t many lfg’s so jumped in.)
They died on spider, and one left, I quickly put up the lfg again, but edited it to say p2, lv80.

A thief joined and one member in the party gave out to me for changing the ad. and tried to kick the thief. ~rolls eyes~

A reason should ALWAYS have to given. (this could help anet check people who abused the kick system or not.)
And the instance owner should have the ‘end’ choice vote. ..basically, if someone says yes to kick, but instance owner says no, it’s not a kick, simple.

If you don’t like the instance owner, leave the party yourself.

meh, I’m sure anet knows the kick system needs an overhaul, I’d be happy with people having to give a reason. and for you to get a message like “kicked by [name] & [name], for xyz”.
And for the party of have a similar message.
“player [name] was kicked by [name ] & [name] for xyz”.

Taygus.4571

Why should we not log in though :S we enjoy the game, it’s the reason we’re on the forums now posting our opinion. What you’re offering isn’t a solution but a pseudo feeling of receiving what we’re asking for

Ok log in, but don’t play LS

This is basically how it works in games that do expansions. No new content for months on end.
It’s what you’re asking for, so don’t play LS for 1 year. There’s your expansion.

LOL even if I just let the LS accumulate being that I go into it at already lvl 80 I could easily solo the story side alone within a week or two. Waiting a year for a few weeks of story is a waste of time. The person you are replying to would be better to just do the LS as they come out and then log out untill the next update. :P

except, that is exactly what would happen with an expansion.

You just think there’s more content because it comes in a box.

Not strictly true starting a character from scratch and going through the personal story took a great deal more time, even if you only also factor leveling on the way ontop of the fact that personal story is very long from the start and didn’t need to build up over time like the LS/LW.

Living world may well be as long overall as the PS but when I go into living world and I’m already level 80, already have a build set up and can just plough through it solo unlike the getting stuck of the Personal story I did before, climbing levels, with incomplete builds that required you to team up with other people from time to time because not starting at level 80 with decent kit makes the process more difficult.

I don’t think there is more content just because it comes in a box, (gosh how insulting are you?) but what content there is certainly seems to last longer that way when you remember GW2’s predecessor.
In gw1 when we got the Cantha expansion we could start a new character in that expansion or if our Prophecies chars were high enough level transport them over. But if you started with a character from scratch again it did last longer because you had to level as you did it.
Some may call that a grind. But sadly the less grindy it is the shorter it lasts because the developers can’t meet our demand for new content fast enough. Ideally whether new content comes in the form of an expansion or the LS (I don’t actually care which as long as it comes) they may eventually get that balance between flow of story and making it last long enough to keep players satisfied. But that’s a matter of perspective.

This may be semantics to some, but Factions and Nightfall were stand alone campaigns. Eye of the North was an expansion in the more traditional sense. So I think comparing EotN to the additional GW2 content is a bit more fair than comparing GW2s additional content to stand alone campaign releases.

Thanks.

And to the poster you quoted.
You’ll still be level 80 in a GW2 expansion……………………………………..

And my point of the box,
was that it seems like more content when you get it all at once instead of a little every 2 weeks. Seems like more, but actually isnt.

You do realize you just asked to double the number of available armor models in the game, right. The directions some of these threads take with no regard to the effort involved is just baffling at times.

Well the could start by not creating outfits that are different based on gender.

For example the ninja outfit, they could’ve created the male version for all, and then created the female version for all.
Not be like "you chose a female, here show some skin.
Especially for charr/asura. With these races, you never know if the next armour anet makes will be a male version shared b/n both or you’ll actually be forced into the female version. (note the chinese outfit. Something I had wanted to buy, but thought it looked terrible on charr and wasn’t too keen on asura. I play only female characters.)

I’ve gotten multiple Precursors, and each one I didn’t buy. Everything is working as intended. The only thing that’s broken is your assumption that you’re “Entitled” to a Precursor for a low cost. This argument is similar to a Middle Class single dad wanting to buy a Lamborghini, but that car price is “broken”.

Why do you always take things to such extremes and purposefully mischaracterise people and/or their desires?

Because this debate is over the desire of the OP to have a luxury item, my real life example fits perfectly. If you want a Louis Vuitton purse, you have to pay the price. If you want that Lamborghini, you pay the price. If you can’t afford it, either work hard so you can afford it, or seek something else.

There’s an old saying: Live within your means. If you work for $10/hour, don’t expect to be walking around in a Prada suit. But in this game, as with real life, you can if you work hard towards that goal.

Cept Lamborghini’s don’t fall from the sky.

One of the biggest things that bothers people about the pre, is WHY should they pay 1000g to someone who just got lucky.

A better example would be comparing to scratchcards or gambling.
