all these posts, loving the challenge……does everybody want challenge?
I find that hard to believe.
I do wish anet would leave the challenge for outside the initial story… like a replay mode. Have a choose fight..and up the difficulty that way. They have the motes, we know they can do that!
I didn’t notice the things putting out my fire, shamed to say. though I got too frustrated with the dragon’s constant orange circles.
I did figure out the white was good and stability buff we get, but still there is too much going on in this fight to be enjoyable to me. Particularly when I’m in the mood to just “see a little more of the story”.
The basic story SHOULD be easy.
Achieves should be progressively difficult, with challenge modes..maybe even 2 levels of challenge modes, for increasing difficulty, for those who want it.
These armor skirts are actually the realistic version.
Basically: its hard to armor a crotch without being uncomfortable.
So they wear lightly or unarmored pants and wear this “skirt” to protect the crotch. There are gremlins that build flying pyramids, but making a chainmail crotch is too tall of an order.
lmao.
I love when people come with “but in reality”.
Tyria is a mixed world of magic, medieval times and amazing scientific discoveries.
And IF the realism was the factor… why is there even light or medium armour?
all professions get sent into fray of battle….they should all be wearing chainmail.
that’s the thing…I think the story it self, shouldn’t be that difficult, but replays and achieves, should get progressively harder.
but I find these overly challenging encounters spoiling the story for me. (because I get frustrated/they take too long.)
Although, I’ve managed eventually to get through all of them (not achieves, for the most part I ignore those.) ..This, the dragon in chapt 8. I can’t do. and I know I’m going to need to party up for it, which is what annoys me.
I’d like to be able to just ‘experience’ the story solo…
so what I’m wondering, is if others also dislike the current direction anet is going with these encounters.
It’s not help I want, I’ll set an lfg later or sometime for it…perhaps. It’s just. I’d prefer if I didn’t have to. (again, I’m ok with the achieve being challenging and people getting rewarded for that.)
I’m just not really ok with how the encounters are atm, and surely I;m not the only one who would prefer easier for story/first run…. harder after.
Hello, OP!
Every now and again, a thread like this pops up – and we find there’s a lot of us with different conditions, disabilities, and other difficult circumstances, all enjoying playing GW2. It’s always heartening to read the messages, and to hear people really do find comfort and meaning in a game, and the social interactions it brings, though I have personally cut my social behaviour because I “don’t play well with others”. Though, it’s just a game, and that seems silly to some, it really doesn’t matter. It also doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks about it, either.
For me, parts of the game are sometimes a little difficult owing to my photosensitive epilepsy, but there’s more than enough here to keep me happy. I can’t wait for hang gliding in HoT, however it turns out, considering that’s something I’d never be able to do in real life. Of course, none of us are going to be asura or sylvari, charr or norn, or even humans wielding magic – none of us, wherever we are on any scale, are going to kill a dragon today. A game such as this gives all of us common ground at the start, and no one should be picking at anyone for finding it a release.
Speaking about photosensitive epilepsy – or maybe just epilepsy in general – anyone else bugged by the lighting involved in the LS encounters with mordrem? I had a very near miss in the last Camp Resolve instance where I stupidly got stuck under a ramp, and the resulting graphic really wanted to kill me. Somehow managed to get out of it, but I’ve found the lighting to be rather disturbing, though it could be because I have to have the screen much darker than standard (same sort of issue in the Labyrinth as well).
I don’t have epilepsy but I’m hypersensitive, and I’ve found the lighting in some scenes to be very difficult to look at. In chapt8 the scene in sw where you’re fighting all the modrem and it’s smoky …HORRIBLE. Towards the end of it my eyes were actually hurting.
I also have similar trouble during the sandstorm in drytop. Would like if these could be turned off. I avoid drytop completely during the sandstorm.
Because I believe that one should always strive for more regardless of their current predicament,
firstly..some “predicaments” aren’t current..but lifelong
secondly what you consider “more” or worth striving for, does not mean everyone else must also consider it worth striving for.
The problem is that the Living Story is supposed to be telling a story. The point of the LS is not to provide a drop for precursors or loot, the point isn’t the extraneous, tacked-on titles and achievements, the point of the Living Story is to tell the kitten-ing story.
Nothing destroys the dramatic pacing of a decent story than an annoying slough through a tediously designed boss encounter. EVERY, single boss fight in the Living Story I have seen has been just that. I’ll grant the boss fights have provided variety, but you can figure out the different mechanics in a minute or so, then after that it’s a long, needlessly drawn out encounter that makes you sick of it long before it is over.
You can grit your teeth and grind through these encounters, but they are not anything close to what would be called entertainment. This content design makes getting to the end of the plot a wretched chore, and that destroys any enjoyment in seeing the story. Which is shame because the story does seem worthwhile, but by the time I finish these boss fights I just want to shut off my computer and walk away.
Now I understand that there are those who like sloughing through a long, drawn-out encounter because they consider it ‘challenging’. It’s a long tradition in MMOs and I don’t expect that to change. The baffling thing is that ArenaNet has shown they understood the importance not letting tedious ‘challenges’ get in the way of storytelling. They showed this with the excellent concept of Story and Explorer modes for the dungeons. People who wanted to see the story were allowed to experience that and those who have the time to spend on tedious grind can do that for rewards.
If anything needed this concept applied to it, the Living Story would be it. The writing of the story deserves better treatment than what the content designers are doing to it.
So much this,
the first run through should be easier, whatever about the achieves or challenge mode.
anyone else find that the LS is too hard? ..I don’t mind the achievements being hard, I can live without the ap, but it’s pretty frustrating to not be able to complete an episode or if it to take so long that it becomes boring.
the chapt 8, dragon boss, I can not beat. I don’t have a bunch of people I can team up with…..and even if I did..it shouldn;t “require” that.
anyway,,,what I am wondering, is not whether people like the encounter or didn’t find it challenging, I’m wondering if there others who felt it’s too hard…that anet has starting to push to offering “challenging” encounters for those asking for it, but isn’t thinking about those who haven’t.
Again, I’m ok with the achieves being challenging…but the first run through shouldn’t be.
Just don’t use them. Simple. There are people, like me, who use them to save time on days when game time is minimal. On days when I want to feel the immersion, I have the choice to not use them.
this, so much this.
__
And OP, by you wanting to take away wp’s, you ARE wanting to force your playstyle on others.
If it brings you enjoyment then its definately worthwhile… If it were to be getting in the way of other things like studying for a test, causing marital problems, etc then it would be bad but what you enjoy is up to you. Look at the net benefit.
The happiness and joy you feel are the only things that are real. Everyone derives these things differently, and thats ok too (well mostly ok… lol)
During therapy…. the counsellors emphasise one word.
“effective”
meaning is it effective way of coping or is it avoiding/making things worse.
I think it describes this well.
If you are in a position to improve your life, and you want to/not doing so is making you feel worse..and you’re using gaming to escape that, will only make you feel worse…therefore you try to escape somemore etc….that’s not effective.
but if it genuinely improves your life, to any extent, then it is effective and perfectly ok
I don’t get the, “I’m disabled and can’t work so I spend all my time playing a video game” mentality. Wouldn’t time be better spent learning something else computer related? It sounds like the OP and others have endless time to sit at the computer, but no time to learn a skill (like programming) which could be beneficial and profitable. There’s a lot you can do from a chair… why settle on leveling your characters when you could be leveling up your life? Be a web developer, a blog writer, a musician with a keyboard and a laptop, paint pictures and sell them on the internet, a graphic designer, a novelist, etc.
there aren’t actually that many opportunities to work from home, ..
there’s also the issue that…you may not be able to pump out whatever x amount of work is expected in a week… where as you can take a week off gaming you’re not up to it.
you can be exhausted and still able to chat in LA, …it isn’t so easy to learn if you’re tired though.
people shouldn’t live to work, people who have illness that prevent them from working, often cause fatigue etc…if they did manage to work from home, it would affect other aspects of their life, as they would be putting all their energy JUST to be able to work.
Are you really begrudging people who are ill, having all their day to play games? ..it’s not wrong you know. Suffering is horrible…and working …something you don’t enjoy…while suffering from an illness…just make a bad life feel so much worse.
Live and let live, let people have whatever happiness they can get.
I have severe (cycling) depression, and although it isn’t impacting so much on my life these days.(learned coping strategies etc.)
When I look back over the past few years, I can see that starting an mmo, was one of the first steps in “becoming social again”.
I’m not very good at interacting with people.
I started his game because …it sounded interesting, I was planning to solo tet lot and ignore the mmo aspect lol.
But eventually became more confident in chatting to people, in looking for a guild, in joining random dungeon parties(omg..that was something I was like..nope not gonna do, never ever ever.)…in feeling ok with interacting with people I don’t ‘know’.
It seems silly spelling it out like that but playing a social game, has had a positive impact on my life. ( alongside other steps ….) has made it much easier to interact with people on a day to day basis and not be so nervous about it.
it’s also nice to escape into this world, when my own becomes overly stressful or the depression surfaces. I find that, I have to be “mindful” when playing this game, ie I have to pay attention to it, and not whats running in my head…making it easier to break negative self-talk or a depressive cycle.
Because they are explorable zones with PoIs, Vistas, and Skill Points. And “100%” and “World Completion” are all-encompassing terms.
A better question is why they don’t require players to explore new zones when they come out as well, but I’m torn on whether that’s a good idea or not.
Not..it would make 100% an insurmountable task to a new player, a few expansions down the line.
(I’m hoping this new magumma map isn’t needed with the new xpac for 100% too..)
…The other night we had low level, new players complaining in chat about all the level 80’s in the starter zone zerging all the events. I don’t blame them either. I remember disliking it when one or two would dominate an event, let alone a level 80 zerg where new players are lucky to get in a hit on a mob before it dies.
I agree.
This is Anets backwards, kittened thinking (or they’ve forgotten what it’s like to be a new player). They have these dailies in low level areas as they think it will look good to new players, seeing so many other people.
But to a lot of people it won’t make the game look good, in fact it will have the opposite affect, (when I was new to the game I also hated when some lvl 80’s would come to an event and 1 hit things, leaving it difficlut for me to get credit, or even enjoy the event because they were wiping things out so quickly). What new players will see is that there are too many people for each event, they’ll try to take part, but won’t be able to hit anything, and might not even get credit for events. This won’t look good to new players and it won’t be fun to a lot of them.
I do agree the event daily needs looking into…
Should probably be more generally..like do 4 events in maguuma, whther that’s in caledeon or metrica etc , should be up to you.
It would help, I think.
Total garbage for casual PvE players, which I’m tippin a LOT of us are.
For ref, I spent over an hour the other day in the Mists running around like a spazz with the zerg & didn’t get a single daily. And I don’t want to have to do WvW or PvP or world bosses every/any day if I don’t want to, ever, period. That is all ANet.
umm, nah, mists isn’t a great place for dailies, WvW borderlands is where you want to go.
but really there’s no need to do the dailies..they aren’t big deal, they don’t take long if you choose your 3 carefully.
but like I aim to do the 3 dailies every day., mostly pve ones because I’m after the experience…but if I don’t do them…then I don’t do them. If I only have 30minutes to play, and I want to do a dungeon stead of dailies, then that’s what I’ll do.
(this is why I like the log in rewards so much, you don’t HAVE to do anything.)
Meh.
There’s twelve dailies. You need to do 3. Most of the dailies happen so far you barely notice you had a daily for that (Ruins, PvP kills, point captures, gathering, etc).
I have yet to see a day where I even remotely thought the daily was in any way an effort to get. Also, even then it’s not like the new dailies offer anything which depends on doing the meta every day (specifically).
This
I LOVE the new dailies, there’s enough choice if you look through all of them, if you want..pick the quickest/easiest.
PVP for example, you can be terrible at pvp and still get your “gain 50rank points” or “capture a point”.
The wvw get a ruin is really easy…. otherwise just join the zerg, you’ll get a daily or 2 in there quickly enough".
That’s not to talk about world boss, just set a timer to remind you to log in and get that easily..the gathering dailies are super easy.
The events are the biggest nuisance in the pve dailies imo, but again, they aren’t that bad. I don’t often bother “chasing” events. I just walk/hang around the areas I know events pop up/need to be activated.
you only 3…it’s not hard or long to get 3 dailies. and IF they are a chore…then don’t do them…it’s not like you need them anymore.
I absolutely LOVE the log in rewards! They’ve got me logging in daily…and then I’m like mmmh think I’ll just do x or y…and then I do a bit more and then I’m like “ooops, I have to study….” XD

Hey folks,
Now that the HOT is out of the bag, we’re able to update this thread with more details. With the introduction of the new account based mastery system for end-game progression and growth in PvE, we’ll also be re-evaluating our other systems of character progression to ensure they match our over-all pillars and goals for Gw2.
In doing so: we’re going to be removing the current trait unlocking system currently on live and replacing it with a more simplified system that supports where skills-traits-specializations are going in the future. We’ll go into more details between now and the release of HOT on how skills, traits, and specializations will work in the new Gw2 world.
Thank you for all your passionate feedback on this topic – it not only helped our dev team lead to this decision, but has played a large role in helping us define how to build our exciting new account based mastery system for end-game progression in PvE as well.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You,
Finally a reply, finally saying that the traits will be changed in some way.
This makes me happy,…….I hope the change planned is good
What is with the spamming of “legendaries” for sale on the LFG the past couple of days? Come on folks, that’s no place for that.
they can’t afford the listing fee,(or don’t want to pay it)
so they use lfg and mapchat…
it’s wrong and foolish…I hope each one of them gets scammed.
you want to sell to strangers? be legit and pay your taxes/
I don’t really understand why all the vets feel the need to speak for new players…
I played this game a little when it first launched but was busy with college and had to give it up before really getting into it. Recently however I decided to come back now that things have calmed down for me here.
As such I came here basically as a new player who has never done living stories, fractals, dungeons, WvW, cosmetic stuff, crafting or any map higher level than Gendarran Fields… but I DO remember the old trait system.
I actually don’t mind the new system at all. It’s kind of fun being able to go out hunt down those elusive points for your build and it gives you an entire extra platform of content to spend time on. I also like the little pop ups after each level gain that show what has unlocked. It breaks up the old grindy feel and makes me feel like I’m actually getting somewhere with my character finally.
I can’t speak for others on the matter and I’m sure not all the new players agree but I can speak AS a new player… I think that’s important.
tell me, will it still be fun on the second, third, sixth character?
I have no problem with hunting for traits…………….once.
, is it account unlock for all professions for that specific roman numeral trait?
this is what it SHOULD be.
otherwise you still have to repeat “quests” for the traits.
and it discourages playing with alts of a different calss.
So once the trait number is unlocked…it’s unlocked on all.
Isn’t that what they said about the specialisations or is it only the specific trait you’ve unlocked??
if it’s only the extra trait itself..I can’t imagine the account wide unlock being very useful…
What’s disappointing to me is they haven’t said that they will change it. They haven’t said “we’re considering this or that idea, what do you think?”
They haven’t even agreed that the current trait system is a problem. So I’m not hopeful that they’ll fix it.
Part of their problem is they’re not actually allowed to do what you’re asking, discuss plans with players before final implementation. Supposedly, if they come in this thread and say “we’re considering options X, Y, and Z, what do you think?” then everybody on the forums will get unrealistic expectations and throw mass tantrums when every last detail of X, Y, and Z is not included in the eventual solution, so clearly the only solution is to forbid all substantial communication.
It’s depressing, because I look at the forums for other MMOs I play and see devs having reasonable conversations with players – discussing proposed changes, what the goals are, and how best to reach them – and those games really don’t have better forum communities than this one. They just have companies that understand the concept of managing player expectations.
Yeah…I’ve seen that
as if a “we’re considering this” = “will definitely be implemented” =.=
It’s sad really, because it leads to bad “fixes”.
But even a “we heard you and the traits will be looked at”
would make me happy, as it is, it seems they are perfectly ok with the traits as they are and the repetitiveness of it on alts.
):
To clarify it seems you need to firstly enter a specialisation before you get access to these weapons, for example the ranger must specialise in druidism to be able to use a staff
so I wonder..are there more specialisations per class?
I dont want a nreco greatsword =.=
__
well I suppose if not now, with time there will be… wonder the balancing changes this will bring about xd
I think living world gave the game everything it needed, of course some ppl want more than I do (maybe because they have played other mmos, I don’t know)
I feel the same!
china failure?
_
tbh I think the xpac is because so many people screamed for it.
everything they’re adding could be added by free downloads but that’s not bring in as much sales, I guess.
such a shame.
I sooooooooooooo want a trait templates. I don’t mind too much about the rest because that’s not as much hassle….but traits are annoying,
even in pvp..it’s great that pvp is seperate from my pve.
but sometimes I want to be a fearmancer, sometimes wells, sometimes power. These are all very different builts.
trait saver please!!!!!!!!!
give as 2 or 3 saves and then let us buy more at 300gems per template.
300gems is fair..any more than that is too expensive.
oh and we must be able to name the trait template!
that’s what I want! XD
I was wandering how to lvl up faster, it frustrates me how long it takes to lvl up. Thanks
Craft to lvl 68 (all disciplines to 400). Use 12 ToK (from daily rewards or from PvP). Isn’t cheap but is the faster way
Waste of money and time. In that time you are already lvl 80 at EOTM And you save nearly 50gold
craft to level 68 and then eotm…not pvp…and I guarantuee it’s quicker than just eotm. Not cheap though. and it’s annoying especially the cooking craft. I HATE that one.
really?
your whole post is to push a level increase and a gear threadmill??? really???
If I wanted a gear threadmill, I would play one of the many numerous games that has it >.>
_
btw,I love the cheaper prices! I took a break from this game and every thing was getting crazy high..now they’re a bit more manageable to afford.
what do you suggest they do?
How long do they save your spot for?
1 minute? 2? 10?dc’s happen…it’s not that big a deal.
I’m more bothered by the fact I have to keep clciking “join” to get onto a map..=.=..a queue system is a must!
5 minutes would be reasonable. If a PC crashes, that’s a good amount of time for it to be restarted, and logging into gw2. An internet connection is unpredictable though, but sometimes there’s a brief moment when people get dc’d and then they’re able to get back on again. 5 minutes isn’t too much to ask for.
I would argue that 5min is a bit long.
If a few numbers crash..it could affect whether say teq succeeds or fails.
____
there is some time limit if you’re in a party and dc. I’ve managed to log back in and start right on the same map..but that’s within 30seconds to a minute to restart.
Just party up when doing world bosses.
if they even did a half price sale on it, I’d buy it
key farm with them…. you’ll need about 500 for a key or two…
500?
you only need to be level 20 for a key.
500 tombs would be 25keys that’s not bad…if you have no other use for them.
If Anet would allow it, I’d take a huge chunk of those off your hands.
I wish <3
__
Do some keyfarming, help increase the supply of Black Lion skins on the gold market
OP, ^^^^ this is a good way to use them to generate gold.
what do you suggest they do?
How long do they save your spot for?
1 minute? 2? 10?
dc’s happen…it’s not that big a deal.
I’m more bothered by the fact I have to keep clciking “join” to get onto a map..=.=..a queue system is a must!
Go follow the train in Edge of the Mists.
If you do this, party up, or you’ll struggle to get loot due to not doing enough damage.
“Could I buy them? Certainly. But it is not something a new player could do. Even if the cash isn’t a barrier at that level, the skill point cost certainly is.”
And this is why you can buy gems with RL cash and convert them to gold. THAT’S what ANet wants you to do. They don’t have a sub fee, they have an ingame shop- they WANT you to spend RL cash on things they’ve gated.
I’ll spend cash on miniatures and armour and convenience items..but not gold. I will not spend cash on gold.
Tbh the real thing that bothers me with this, is how awkward some of the unlocks are. And I think if it unlocks on one character it should be unlock on all and all future characters, it only puts me off buying character slots in the future. (I currently have 1 spare..and all my chars created after this trait change are low level. )
but repeating the same “quests” to unlock traits..no thanks..and paying cash for them…definitely not..you already have to pay cash for an extra slot.
At this point, with this many pages, there’s not much left to be said except to wait for Anet’s response. Even rolling back to the old system would not be a bad idea when you have something like the current trait system to compare with. I would just like to stress to Anet that simplicity is not to be taken for granted. The 1st trait system offered it to us, simple and reasonable.
Whoever came up with the new trait system should either be fired or demoted. I would like to know how the new trait system is supposed to be better than the old one (with the exception of the new re-traiting function).
All the posts in this thread has provided a rough blueprint for a better trait system. Suggestions and ideas that came from players that care. I’m sure most of us here aren’t professional game programmers/designers, but here we are banding together to salvage a part of the game that is severely damaged.
“wait for their response”?????????/
what response?
No please, we don’t need another WoW clone.
If leveling is the only thing keeping you playing…then..I have to argue that you don’t really enjoy the game itself.
That’s not actually true OP. I love my necro..I’ve levelled an ele for dungeons..but you know..I still like my necro best and feck what everyone else wants.. I’m going to play with my necro…infact I want to level up an extra necro for wvw..due to the lack of templates T_T
So point is, play what you want and have fun. start your own lfg if you’re having difficulty finding a group to accept you.
What’s disappointing to me is they haven’t said that they will change it. They haven’t said “we’re considering this or that idea, what do you think?”
They haven’t even agreed that the current trait system is a problem.
So I’m not hopeful that they’ll fix it.
I remember being frustrated by it when I first logged in. And you know, it didn’t put me off, it annoyed me and that was it. But because it annoyed me, I don’t see why it should be there specifically. I mean why is being there better than being elsewhere?
because it;s already there?
In fact just prevent anyone below level 20 being able to use it. That would do the trick.
have a message like “sorry this under repair, please come back later”.
I think the point was some people did find it confusing, but confusing things can be frustrating, particularly when you’re just starting a game.
I think they should put it back elsewhere in the game, away from new players. Maybe in your home instance in Rata Sum or something.
They could leave the rc golems at the start but remove it as part of the heart.
That way, players that found confusing wouldn’t feel they had to do it and therefore wouldn’t get frustrated. They may just be a bit baffled.
I was, I remember trying it and thinking “kitten?” I left it and did other things, at the time I didn’t even take much notice of the hearts tbh.
I do think they should be put back, exactly where they were, but not connected to any hearts.
Odd, bug since feature patch.
If I open bank, I can double click an item out, and it will go to first empty slot in bag.
However I have to drag all items from bag into bank. Double clicking does nothing at all. This is really annoying when you have alot of items to put into the bank. ): I’m really missing the double click and it depostiting to first empty bank slot
anyone else having this issue?
edit:
Only happens on the bank tab on crafting tables. (which is the one I use the most.)
To get to my home instance for free from anywhere, I go to WvW > Portal to Lions Arch > Waypoint to Lions Arch Portals (Free) > Take Portal To any Home City > Waypoint to Closest Waypoint to Home Instance > Go Into Home Instance…
Takes me less than 30 seconds…
There is no way 5 loading screens, takes just 30 seconds, including the little bit of running to portals.
no way at all.
999 shots, is alot of shots.
How often do you look through them all? o0
On the chronological order, you can click a tab “date” in the folder, that will show the images by date, most recent or most oldest first. No need to worry about what number they’re listed as.
please make them tradeable, I don’t have enough :P
If you really are in a rush.
Map in the middle of the night. (outside of tournament times of course.)
Just stay up late, I guarantee, it’ll be fairly empty and fairly easy..or you could you know, actually play WvW for a bit. Follow the comm and get loot!
I have decided based upon my impression of this thread and recent comments from Chris that changes are closer to their actual design. I do not know everything in relation to the NPE as I have veteran goggles on. However I am in a unique position to have a wife that recently picked up the game.
Due to this I will revise my feedback I posted in in the following thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Learning-Curve/first#post4389552
Revamped Hints
These are extremely useful. However I am unsure about their effectiveness. Your testing should have proved if it is true or not.
Gating of Weapon skills
I understand why this was done to reward the player. I think that gated systems are not vary rewarding they always feel restrictive. Nor do I find it educational. I do not feel that it teaches me the profession. I was leveling up a sentimentalist from level 1 in the new system I understand the mechanics of fire well. The reason behind this was that I was required to go a entire level focusing on that single skill.
However for the remaining elements of the elements I don’t understand them well at all and find myself going back to fire frequently. I have not had the focus with the other elements like I have on fire.
I think the old weapon unlock system excelled in this area. On my thief I learned what the skills did as I unlocked them. However they unlocked a bit too fast if I was not paying attention. Perhaps return the old unlock system and slow down the progress of unlocking them.
I do think this may annoy some veteran players I am not sure how to satisfy them. Perhaps once you have unlocked a weapon for a profession on the account it is unlocked for the entire account for that profession.
Frequency of events
I think the events in the begening areas need to be increased a tad. This is to keep refine the pacing in the starting areas.Bundles and changes to starter areas
I understand why it was done. You don’t want to front-load a player who is just learning their skills. However now some of them are quite silly or feel toyish. Entertaining a cow, fumbling with a toolbox. Also some interesting ones were outright removed. Protogy and Golem chess in Metrica province. I feel that the cows and repairing golems should actually be collector heart events. And the events that were removed should be re-added elsewhere. Please add the flavor back to the beginning areas.
I totally agree about the weapons.
The old system was good, as it was a per weapon basis, but it was a little too quick.
On the hints…I would’ve liked to see hints when I started the the game. And I think they will be quite effective, at least for the players that read them.
And it’s ashame about the hearts that were removed.
I do hope, like for golem chess, they will be re-added somewhere.
I do not like entertaining the cows T_T…but whatever, if players need simplicity in the early levels, then so be it.
It’s needed,
but for now, if you preview the mini, you can tell if you have it.
If you don’t , it will preview without replacing your chosen mini, If you do have it, it will go into that slot.
I know, not great, but it’s a work around.
yup, skill challenges shouldnt be gated, maybe aney should just add a suggestion/tooltip, for the first time a user comes to one saying something like.
“this is a challenge, it may be easier with a friend”.
so the whole, cant beat it, doesnt scare people off or whatever.
It’s because having monsters poison you when the monster info says that they poison is too confusing for new players.
To be fair,
Most players. New and veterans, don’t look up monster info. ……………
because retaining new users at early levels wasn’t just a china problem we needed to solve, it’s a problem in the west too.
I can actually understand this.
I was one of those players, who played a few levels. Can’t remember how many. But I felt lost, confused and logged off…..for months.
I only came back to the game because of a friend. And playing it with him, I started to understand the game better.
I can’t say now, if these changes would’ve made more likely to stick around or not. But I can see how alot of players like me, played a bit, felt like they were getting no where, or didn’t know where to go/what to do..and just left.
My main concern is for veteran players. I really do hope you’re making changes so that we can level up much much quicker or skip some of it all together, to be more alt friendly. I have 3 lv80’s atm. I want more, but the leveling is tedious, when I could just do what I want with my already lv80’s.
