I like your idea OP, but I’m not against the above either.
If the boss isn’t killed the boss should win in some way. Probably best if they killed all players fighting it. As that would kind of make the most sense.

But I’m not against the boss sticking around and becoming invulnerable, but able to attack anyone who walks by til the next timer. That could be interesting. But could be an issue in servers where the boss never gets killed, make that area always unsafe.

Found a guild

How many are in the guild now? How often do you play?
I’m looking for a casual guild, team up, explore, maybe play some activities together..and eventually the odd dungeon.
I like chatting about stuff too. (anime is always fun :P ..). I’m not really bothered about guild bonus at the moment, just looking for others to hang, run around with, do events and explore, finishing the story. People who like to level alts, would also be fun, as I plan to do that in time.

I’m currently level 33 Asura Necromancer. I’m not half bad. (I think). :P And I love finding vistas and doing jumping puzzles.(or falling lots as the case may be XD.)

Possibly Role playing servers. idk
I’m on Aurora Glade, and although it’s a quiet server, chat wise. Most people seem friendly. And so far whenever I’ve asked for help, someone has gladly offered it.

There’s often people asking about event locations or where something is, and there’s always seems to be someone ready to answer.

I’d a like a bit more chatting, but people ready to help is nice enough.

First time playing an MMO here, and I picked necromancer as it seemed the most fun.

I’m still struggling a little with directional and weapon buttons. But after taking time to map them to the most comfortable, (left hand for weapons, right hand for direction. I have the weapon skills set 1-5, and magic sills on q-t.), I’ve found I’m using skills and moving for easier. So you might want to try and see, how she moves easiest, what she has trouble with, and work out a mapping that suits her.

I had never played anything with so much button pressing, but training with a friend, who would save me when I was getting trapped, or revive me when I died, really helped.

So I wouldn’t worry about “easiest” to play, but the one she likes best, as you’ll be there to “save her”.

I’d suggest and asura race as general consensus is they’re good for jumping puzzles. (and she might enjoy those, they’re one of my fav. things in the game)

Nope, put the clothes in the bank for next year, or sell them on the TP

check the level of the area you’re in, maybe join up with someone to help you train. Weapons will come in time, I wouldn’t worry too much about them right now, as you’ll get all you need in drops.

It’s not like it’s an obvious name, like Patrick. or lets go a step further PatMurphy. You don’t have your full name out there for the world to see.

There’s no real “support” roles in this game, most character can do a bit of everything. It’s group/long range attacks or powerful close ups, with the bit of healing on the side.

Why don’t you just pick a class and play it for awhile, if you like it good, if not, re roll and try a different class.

You can also ask on map “looking for someone to explore with”. I’ve joined up with peeps that way.

I recently asked a similar question for a friend in the US. (I’m in the UK).

The game has to be got in the country she’ll be playing in. (Once registered it can be played anywhere, but you’re going to have to gift her a UK version of the game. Unless she’s travelling to USA soon :P ..)
She can then choose NA servers, no bother.

But the actual game has to be got in the country she’s in. (This is because of trade laws.) A USA registration key, will only work in the US.

How about sending amazon uk voucher? or buy gamestop voucher online? You could also transfer the cost of the game to her paypal and tell her exactly where that is to go :P

Things aren’t working well the way it’s implemented atm, .. I really really hope Anet is looking at fixing this. But I doubt it, since they added a new boss in the same way as the old.
Overflow is something we’ll probably just have to deal with.

Do people in overflow get to communicate with others in overflow? I’m not sure, and I haven’t noticed anyone else being around, unless those left in each overflow are very very few in numbers?

It wouldn’t be so bad if there were multiple overflows and people could group up in them all the same. Maybe with an option "join map or stay in overflow for next 30/60min, when it will ask you again if you want to join main map)

Under clothes you can make the look fat, mess with the settings, pick a bigger body type, and set the slider to the shortest, and it’ll look fat in the game.

If fights scaled down to numbers that were reasonable on all servers, people from lower population servers wouldnt need to guest to higher population servers. With fights requiring 80-100 players, it makes sense that people want to be where the larger numbers are.

Bottom line, everyone playing the game is entitled to the same gaming experience. If ArenaNet scales fights based on the population of servers like Desolation (or Blackgate in NA) and doesn’t consider how it will look on lower population servers, then it is no surprise that people will be guesting to those larger servers (and have every right to do so).

It’s a bit ridiculous that it isn’t scaled.

They could have a minimum scale(so that it doens’t scale to one person, if they want to push it as a group event) .. Maybe scale down to it just needing 10 or 20 people.

This might actually be an answer. I particularly like the guild/private overflow, I suspect large guild who organise fights will make good use of that. Which should free up space on the maps.

I really hope Anet sorts out the server/overflow issues, tis frustrating.

But just being given the option to ~hop~ to another server while in map, where you know how busy each server is on the map, would be excellent.

transmuting anything makes it soul bound. From what I’ve noticed

why don’t you ask your party and go guest to a lower end server? I’ve done that with 1-2 people in party with me, ..if things are very busy, we just agree to go guest rather than staying in our home server.

I do think this guesting really needs to be looked at though.

This is 100% true. Those three categories are what is wrong with the game in my opinion. I find myself becoming less tolerant of other players who are new to the game (and have to remind myself to remember I was new once too) because I need to run x amount of dungeons in x amount of time in order to make enough gold to buy x grindy item Anet has introduced. I rarely give myself time to have fun anymore doing things like wvw and pvp because they really aren’t equal in terms of money. So instead I find myself mindlessly running the same 8 dungeon paths everynight just to make gold. And I hate it so much that I want the best possible group that can finish it as fast as possible.

Would be nice to actually do fun parts of this game again :-/

How much is it bothering you really? I mean, you’re still playing the game.

I play necro and ranger, and have had no problem keeping the buttons mapped the same.
I don’t really see how it’s such a big deal for you.

It’s a different game…you wouldn’t expect emotes from WoW to work here.

Though I’d love an emote expansion. Would be sad if they charged for it, maybe make it world map challenges. The “emote challenge”. This would add more to do in the world, as people would have to ‘gain’ their emote :P

Aurora Glade gets busy around 7-11pm GMT. Peaking around 8/9ish.

But there’s still only certain areas that will be very busy. The main open world, you’ll normally only pass 1 or 2 people or so.

If you want someone to hang out with, ask if anyone will explore with you. I often get one or two people who will join up You can ask in your server or here. If here, let us know what server you’re playing in.
There’s alot of helpful, fun, nice players here.

Yeah I’ve noticed that, and having a female character isn’t enough. (since so many males play female characters >.<)

I do think there are more male players than females, when it comes to gaming. However I don’t think the difference is so extreme to make it feel like female gamers don’t exist.

If you want to compare, why don’t you search reviews of the two? The chance of finding someone here, who has that build, wjo comes across the thread is slim, better off going to a general comp hardware forum.
They should also be able to compare with various games.

If you want green, pick necromancer. I like that each profession has it’s own specific colours, with people being able to change those too, It’d be harder to know what profession their playing.

Guesting should be from higher population to lower population server.

I hate guests in Desolation Sparkfly. Don’t come to Desolation. Take all guests with you and go kill your beloved dragon in Vabbi or some other less populated servers. If you really wanna kill your dragon in Desolation, pay your money/gold for a transfer. Then, curse guests with us ^^

Actually, I think this is a very a good idea.

Being unable to guest to “very high” server populations. Anything below is fine, but you cannot guest to very high. Or maybe even high, just medium & low.
I think that would solve alot of the issues, while also helping increase server populations of those in the lower servers.

I love this game, the no sub. fee is the reason I bought this game in the first place. I like that it’s a casual game. (though there are options for the more hard core players, but first & foremost, it is a casual game)

I’ve managed to convince a friend to pick up the game as well.

Now if only they increased the number european serves, as most are on very high, than few on high, and 2 on medium. There’s not any low server S:

depends, for some it is, for example map zoom & player zoom, can be the same key. Others, like attacks will override anywhere else you have that key.

(I’ve been messing with the keys for awhile to get the best configuration for me, and I’ve noticed the above)

Human wasn’t even in the cards, and I’ll probably not make a human character in the future, and I’m not sure I’ll make a Charr, as they’re seen as a violent race. The Nords have no interest to me basically being human.

I love having the miniature follow me, but having to keep activating it after dying is annoying, and having it take up space in the bag.

It makes having a miniature entirely pointless and/or annoying.

I chat, but not many seem to.
It seems alot of players are farmers, trying to get the best item and what not. (at least on aurora glade. ) It’s why I don’t really play the game unless me and some friends are playing at the same time.
I like to chat. and I die alot because of it XD. I just play to relax. Find vistas etc.

Yes, he can play on NA servers. As to lag, many people say they have little to no lag playing in regions other than their own. YMMV.

Can I ask, were they able to pick europe server from a game bought in NA. Because from what I was reading, the game code has to match the region it was bought in, and the server set of that region.
