A really tiny one you can use while being sarcastic during RPing?
Heck I would consider paying for a broad range of emotes that are missing from this game that most have. Such as an emote for playing the world’s tiniest violin (but that’s finger animation and we don’t have that). But we could have eyeroll, wink, slackjaw, grimace because of the eyes and teeth we have (you can see them if you zoom through your head by backing into a wall).
I mean, how can you not have clap?

Yes, quests. For dances. The staggering lack of emotes is minor nuisance, but I’d have hoped they’d correct it by now.

Heart of the Mists .. that’s where they can allow duelling .. there where you also can
fight those test golems .. that is the only correct place in my opinion.

but people want to use armour/food buffs, they also want to fight in various areas of the pve maps.
I can understand this.
Which is why I suggested a new “mist world” that is 1 random pve map(separate server from pve!) per week.
people can enter this map, and it’s the same as it’s pve copy but with the option of fighting eachother.
(If this is possible or not, idk…..but at least people who want to fight in pve will have the option, they could explore the (random) “cursed shore mists” and fight other players too.
One thing players really want is to be able to fight same server..or any server. So this would need to be either a dueling request map, or everyone who enters is an “enemy”..and not based on server rotation. but I suppose, have a low map cap, to prevent ganking? ..
because as much I don’t want to see pvp in my pve, I understand wanting to pvp in the various pve maps.
Honestly, at this point I’d be happy with dueling in the OS puzzle arena area between server members.
How would that work? If duel requests were enabled only in OS, you would still have to deal with people from other servers interrupting. It’s pretty close to why custom spvp fails as a duel substitute.
I still think open world is best, because it’s the open world. It’s the place for leisure activities.
If you could duel in sPvP you would interfere with your teammates who are trying to actually play sPvP, and if you could duel in WvW, people would go there to duel instead of fight for their server. I know queues for WvW aren’t an issue, but if you have a spot in WvW you should be WvWing, not dueling.
Ok, but open world is very unlikely to happen.
so it’s time to think of another option, that would be viable.

But if you or anyone interacts with it, you can do fight each other? (but you have to interact with the dueling box first.) ….

As a WvWvW player i dont give a kitten of FGS! My fear is about Tornado!
I hope they are not going to disable Tornado+Meteor Shower combo or eles are left without any good elite skill . This is mosly the only reason to use tornado for an ele ( except push down ppl from the rope ! XDD ) . Plus i use it only for the duration of the meteor shower , once meteor shower is finished i switch out of tornado, that’s all the tornado is good for.http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tornado

Base Power is tripled.

- Due to to the power multiplier while under the effects of the transform, Tornado can be used with damage over time skills like Meteor Shower as damage is calculated dynamically.
There’s little doubt they’re targetting Meteornado, and you’ve basically described the exact reason why, right down to the mentality of users.
I hope they do something like, give the tornado unstrippable stability, protection and swiftness (like some bosses have) and increase the knockback and target limit so Tornado becomes this skill that scatters stacked zergs. Maybe they could get creative and make Tornado launch foe high enough to incur some minor falling damage.

I play a necro in fractals….
I also see quite a few high level fractal groups with necro. Power necros, can hit hard. And for most people they’re not hated on that much.
the “elite” players don’t like necros….but for pve dungeons it’s not that big a deal.
Necro is a very fun class to play. (and that should be the main reason to play any game/class.)
If you enjoy it, play it. You will still get to do all the dungeons, and fractals, without too much bother. Yeah you won’t get accepted for zerk parties, but that doesn’t mean the dungeon run will take much longer.

Logically they’d probably put in a check to verify distance of the aoe (since the unintended side effect for anyone not in the know is if you target yourself against a wall and DONT target the mob you can make every single tick of the aoe trigger in one spot which is where the mob is) , prevent the triggers being triggered when on top of each other.
but it works like that with the dagger rush and the staff backward cantrip (if you aim it right XD..)
I’m not sure turning off the triggers will be as easy as say, I think adjusting the numbers is probably simplest. unless they found a way to “stop” it running when it hits a wall? instantly turning off the skill? idk, I suppose well soon see.
It is just as easy to write it down or do people eschew the manual check list?

not being permanent, encourage a “must buy now”, feeling. Meaning it actually sells more then, “ah, I’ll get that soon, when I don’t have something else to buy”.

Would something we didnt ask for satisfy? I don’t know how about you don’t ask stupid questions that you know the answer to then you wont get insulted. Dueling doesn’t affect you, you someone harasses you ignore/report them. That is why the feature is available to you incase you get harassed. If dueling frightens you that much then a simple fix would be ignoring them?
So you just want to change the game we have, the co-operative pve, that we enjoy, to suit you?

If you decline a duel and the player persists “cmon man are you scared?,” this is not dueling, this is harassment. If you have experienced this, or have a problem with this, your issue isn’t with dueling, you issue is with harassment.
The problem is, these 2 things are often connected, I know people who avoid games with open world dueling like the plague, simply because they’ve been harassed over it too many times.
It is easier for anet to just avoid this all together, and create a new duelling map/pvp arena, where people can have an armour/food buff advantage.
But anet should place in big letters on loading into this screen.“this mode of PVP is NOT balanced, calls to balance it will not be adhered to.”
because you just know, the minute anet adds something like this, people will complain about the OP class and “x” food buff.
Though perhaps a copy of a pve map, turned into pvp Would be nice.
For example a new mist section. (give it a max of idk 70players map fill…then new map opens up….but all players are “enemies”)
They could even randomise the pve map per week, and in the WvW section, where youchoose borderland/eotm etc, have a “PVE mists” …and that will be a random pve map, where people who enter can pvp.Whether this mode will allow for ganking or just people who accept duels, would be up to anet, but I this might just solve the pvp openworld issue? I mean, i guess if i was using duels properly, i would never bother you. I would duel my friends, respectfully accept duel declines from strangers, duel away from events or anywhere i could bother people. It’s like i didn’t even exist.
So maybe, in the context of duels, you seem to associate duels and trolls, because you are completely oblivious to the far greater percentage of people that use duels properly. It’s like you get the worst possible, most extreme examples of duel harassment, and treat those as the rule rather than the exception. All while ignoring tools (report/ignore/auto decline) that would be implemented to mitigate issues caused by the people your worried about.
I will try to remain reasonable, but please step back and look from a different perspective.

Look the world isnt carebare, why are you trying to keep a virtual world into one? I don’t know if you’ve had a traumatic event about someone harrassing you which makes you so one sided in people not being mean but i’ve dealt with trolls/rude people and it’s as simple as walking away or muting them. No one is trying to personally attack you, on the internet people will be rude and there is nothing you can do about it and i don’t know if you were badly bullied by someone you lost a duel to but its just a game. Don’t get so offended by someone you don’t know.

Its easier to create a carefree environment for casual and soft hearted people. But i enjoy gw2 not for its care bear environment but for it’s lore/combat. Not everyone is as soft hearted as your friends. Arenanet shouldn’t cater only for those care bear people, they should cater for everyone like in WoW. Example, In wow there are PvP servers or PvE servers. Why cant arenanet have atleast ONE server with dueling? If you get harrassed, mute then and report instead of crying about duels.

@ Vayne: Im sorry but if you READ what i said, i did specifically say duel and not “battle to the death”. If you’ve ever played WoW when you duel no one dies, they just get down to 1hp and the duel is over, there is no killing lol. Most of the guild wars 2 community is pretty nice. The chances of 2 people dueling that screws your event over and not helping but laughing at you is so small that its not even worth mentioning. Please if you don’t want dueling give a good reason why, hardly anyone is out to laugh at you because you asked for help.
I’ve been to PvP…I’ve seen some of the community there. Most of the PvE community is nice. I suspect it’ll lower that tone of dueling is introduced.
This mentality is why guild wars 2 PvP will never be a big e-sport like WoW or other MMORPGS. It makes no sense to remove a function from the game because people might be sour and be rude, if anyone is rude just mute them or report. Ive been to OS (dueling capital ) a lot and most people there arent rude, so how about you stop assuming the PvP community is toxic because of your bad experiences.
Not implementing something is completely different than removing it. They didn’t implement it. There are places for people to beat each other senseless. Let there be more place. But I don’t really want to be involved in it or deal with the consequences where I play.
And you know, I could be wrong. Maybe everyone who duels is lovely and wonderful and happy and smiling. But you know, I’d rather not take that chance.
You have to plan for the worse. Other games (cough wildstar) have solved these problems. Implement proper reporting/blocking tools, give players the power to block duel requests entirely, and, if it’s still THAT big an issue, create a cooldown on the amount of duel requests you can submit for a period of time.
Or the GW2 solution, bury your head in the sand and scream “No duels! They will ruin our pristine, non-toxic environment, where you get berated in map chat for not knowing events, booted from dungeons from being the wrong class, and called out in game for playing bad while using legendaries—-yes dueling would ruin this game!”

ok, so there ‘needs; to be a new “mists”, where there’s a few arenas, (similar to pavillion.)
Where players can queue and dual , you can only fight when you enter an arena, allow for choice, of one v one, 2v2 etec.
Keep it out of pve, but allow a lv1(upleveled) to fight a lv80, if he so chooses with all or without the food buffs he wants.
would something like this satisfy?
It would still be out of pve which is what bothers people who against dueling, so it will work for them,.

if yes, the next question is,
is there enough players who would participate that would make implementing this, worth anets time?
I’m not sure it would be, it may also lead to players calling for 1vs1 balance, which was never meant to be in game…
I wouldn’t want SAB “permanent”, as in always here, but it should be like the pavillion, ….once a year, we should be able to know it’s going to be around, even as a complete rehash/not changed in anyway.

2 things you could do,
look for a guild specific for the LS or small “family” type guilds, particularly new ones.
use the lfg when playing your instances, to find others to join you. You could also try asking in map.

Old exploit. You join a friend in a PvP match while in the tutorial, then you exit to the Mists (do not exit PvP) and walk to Lion’s Arch. It no longer works, and it stops you from completing your personal story unless you send in a support ticket.
Then again, it’s a guardian named “Legendary Beginner” so I think it’s fitting.

lv80’s get access to combined skill points, chars below that level do not.That doesn’t stop you from making throwaway characters to keyfarm/skill point farm.
Also, thanks for the clarification about the home instance skill point, above- I didn’t realize you had to be above level 10 to use it.
But if the skill points were character bound until level 80, and then added to the account pool once you reached level 80, then you would retain the convenience of having all your skill points in one place while also preventing people farming lower levels to gain a few.

necromancer, my first and the class I absolutely love playing and have great fun with.
I mostly pvp with it now, though I do fracs with my necro as well,
I also have an ele, created just for dungeon running, but it’s also a class I’ve had good fun playing. Lots of damage, lots of support, multiple ways to play…just all around interesting class.
These 2 would be my main, and although I’m leveling/have leveled others…I’m not too bothered about them.
If you like pvp you can get tons of level up scrolls there.
I pvp like every day so getting atleast one level up scroll a day there.
I had characters lv80 who have never been further than their starter zone.
Now i keep getting more level up scrolls while i have no use for them anymore…
another option would be for pvp players to be able to sell these, on the TP XD….
and let players set the price on how much a level is worth.
You got to play an mmorpg for only one box sell price for 2 years that seems reward in its self. I do not get it at what point did playing video games where no longer the reward for spending money from work? Its like saying ice cream is part of your dinner and you should be given something for eating it after you eaten the main meal.
Except every time you get the ice cream it comes served to you melted. The game won’t improve if Anet doesn’t hear feedback and right now, as it has always been, rewards are utterly pointless and unrewarding entirely.
Right now you say or what? If you give ppl too many rewarded the reason to play is removed you need something to work to and if you have every thing then you stop working.
You comply missed my point the ice cream is something on the lines of rewarding you at the end of your meal it was a sweet to make a kid eat things they would not like i am talking about the ice cream for ppl has become part of the meal and not the rewarded it self. The same could be said with video games we play games because they are fun not because we are going to be rewarded in a game for playing it.
That’s all fine and good, but I have gotten literally 0 exotic drops since launch. 0. Not a single exotic has dropped for me off of a mob or from a chest. Since launch. There’s a point where it gets out of control.
I’m not sure I believe, you haven’t got 1 exotic drop since launch……..they’re not THAT rare.

That is accurate.I think we are just growing up and are less interested in games.When i was a kid i played lots of games (not just MMO’s).I dont play much any kind of game now.I still like to play them but its not same feeling as before.Eventually we will get to some age where we wont feel like playing games at all and we will quit.Its natural thing to happen.

Like pay up “x” amount, and ..lets say get a “training” option in the story journal? and when you complete the training instances you boost to 80?. I’m not sure what could be considered a speedy training, ..various battles I suppose, maybe keeping some npc’s alive or something. idk ..I’m not creative enough XD.
But I think this would solve the argument of “need to learn your class”. They’d have to make something like it only unlocks for one use, or maybe charge IN the instance to “participate” in the training.

Does anyone else find it ironic that to unlock the Trait that halves falling damage, you have to do Obsidian Sanctum , the JP where it seems easier to fall than any other (especially where it goes pitch black) ?
If you’re on AG, I do obby sanctum often enough with my mesmer and will port guildies and such to the end.
(that goes for anyone, if you’re Aurora Glade, add me in game..and I can message you when I plan to do obby sanctum next. )

There are no roleplaying servers anymore, as such, thanks to the melting pot megafailservers.
Not that there’s much RP about anyway. 8/10 nights I go to the known open RP spots in DR and they are empty because I’m not in the right shard. RP is pretty much dead for me now.
That;s incorrect. There are still RP servers: TC and Piken. The way that the megaserver works is that it puts you with other like-minded players/guilds. Starting out on either of these servers would most likely guarantee that you would have other RP players to interact with, especially if you are in an RP guild.
But the OP can guest to TC, which should work the same as being “on” TC, in terms of megaserver queueing. So still doesn’t have try squeezing into to TC as a “home” server.
OP, the server doesn’t matter much anymore.
It’s more about roleplaying guilds. You’ll have to find a guild to RP with, as all server are combined and you could land on anyone..and often a map is shared between quite a few servers.
In my experience the mega server hasn’t been bad for grouping me up with people I usually play with or my guild.
So join a guild, and add anyone you liked playing with to friends list to increase the chance of landing on the same map/server.

I haven’t even done LS2 yet – I was hoping for more zones to be opened, but when all w got was Dry Top, I was disappointed.

would be nice if we had a weapon “scaling” in hero panel, where we could adjust the weapon scale a little.

I was looking at the chaos staff for me sylvari ele, and the thing looks huge! ….. the other weapons weren’t much better.

You need to unlock weapon skills if you want any type of speed boost….no Utility Skills or Traits at that low level. Speed boost is a MUST for quicker runs.

I use guard- staff….for everything..and unlock skill 3 on the first scene in the home instance.

How can you show off with 300g ? 300g is nothing now, because of the inflation/devaluation.
It’s just the old 100g.Stop PvEing and play WvW for an entire week, at the end if the week tell me how much gold you make compared to your regular play style.
There are many people who command and WvW exclusively who don’t have 300 gold. I’ve never had more than 360 gold myself and all I do is WvW, I’ve not even done any of the new living story content.
Charging players for a tool designed to make organization easier is a joke too.

After seeing what we can expect from feature packs, and 1/2 a season of LS2, Its just not enough to make people come back, or keep people playing at the level where they feel invested enough to to spend money on gems.
LS2 is better than before and more interesting, but its not enough to keep many people invested.
The feature packs, so far as i have seen, do not have the type of features that would engage many people.From my personal perspective, LS2 almost makes me want to play again, but then i just read the spoilers and figure ehh, good enough. After all, i did the first one, and while somewhat interesting after i completed it, there was nothing else in game i wanted to do. A day later or so i did the acheivs, which were kind of bleh in terms of challenge, and super ehhh in terms of rewards. Essentially LS2 is the best aspect of the current system, and its not enough to keep many players engaged.
If this is essentially the blueprint of the future of GW2, ehhhhh
please tell us what you actually want.. and no saying “expansion” isn’t enough.

Why is it Celestial dye comes out dark grey in game? I wanted white. This is the story with almost all colors but black. They all become dark grey in game.

At OP, I quite like the “snow dusting affect”, but seems like anet needed to throw in an extra dyable section, for those who don’t want it green.
Maybe go black with it to kind of match your colour scheme? I know that’ dark and not what you wanted but might look ok?
