Personally I don’t mind tieves dmg or mobility. The only thing that kittening annoys me is perma stealth. Today we capped tower and the thief ran in in last secound. We saw him. Then it took us (15 organized ppl) like 10 min to kill him! kittening perma stealth conected with best mobility in game makes it just stupid. What should we do? Ask zerg to come coz we don’t have enough aoe to cover all place?
Over 1,5k h played on ranger, dungeon master done only with ranger, 33 fotm lvl on ranger. Noone ever said bad word about ranger in dungs to me, not to mention kicking or not inviting.
I feel bad for people who dare feed others the lie that anything is better than berserker. Obviously they don’t understand the scaling of power/prec/crit per stat point investment.
If conditions were as strong as some suggest in PvE, you’d see more groups asking for necromancers or engineers. As it stands, both of those are the least desired in groups.
Scaling is one thing, and 100b another
Personally, I prefer direct dmg. Idk what is better. I just think power based damage is more interesting – it can be affected with funny things (I use +10% when above 90%hp, +10% when full endu, +10% when flanking = +30% dmg). It just seems more interesting for me.
Closing distance got you worried?
Barrage on self. Pet swap to wolf for knock down when enemy is in range. Rapid fire. Thats a lot of damage. Alternatively you can use enrangle instead of a knock down.
Time LB 4 to interupt their heal.
Then you swap to GS to finish them with 3+5+2
Trick with LB. Dont rely on the 1 skill.
I’m not sure to who is this answer, but if to me:
I know. I run with LB for like 1,5k h now. It was with me in 30+ fotm runs, all story and explo modes, 19 ranks in spvp, whole lvling, and all the time in WvW. The problem is, it doesn’t work like that in organized zerg. You can’t stop even for 1 sec, not to mention 2,5 sec barrage cast. 1. and 2. take too long, so I can’t hit enemies when I’m running past them. I’m left only with 3. and 4. – great skills, but not enough. Generally, I can’t imagine ANY ranged weapon work in such charge, one can fire only 2-3 arrows before it becomes melee meatgrinder.
Still, I’m just starting to run in organized zergs/GvG, so I hope I’m wrong and I’ll just learn to use LB.
To make sth clear: I have piercing arrows, increased range and sigil of fire

Yeah, it’s not “terrible” (I even made 20+ min video – on 2nd page now). I run with it all the time, but it IS worse than SB. That’s fact. There are situations when it can be more useful (enemy who doesn’t bother to get closer for example), but generally SB is better 1v1 weapon, just like LB is better when defending tower.
I just wonder which one is better for organized zerg vs zerg… atm I’m running with LB, but we are clsoing distance too quick and we are too mobile to make use of 1. or 5. Also, 1. and 2. are too slow to hit enemies when I pass them. Usually I end up swinging my GS >.>

No, you misread it again. Killing dollies gives points to the server. Farming them is better than flipping camp if you go for points.
Yak standing in camp doesn’t give points. Only the ones on the way do.
Yeah, if you are going mainly for 1v1, SB will be better than LB.

Just to add something: most of GH guilds are the ones who “survived” fall from T2 to T8. Some of us play for points and victory, some just for fun from killing and good battles. We value fair play and mature attitude. We (or the vast majority of ppl on community forum) are NOT interested in guilds that will come and try to “teach” us how we should play and what WvW is in higher tiers.
Also, from what I know, we aren’t interested in guilds joining for few weeks. It’s ok if you don’t like it on GH and leave, but don’t expect to be welcomed if you move here to stomp lower tiers and leave as soon as server moves up.

What about this funny flying jellyfish (I don’t remember name lol)? It’d be ranged pet with skill to transfer boon (boons?) from enemy to ranger. Imo it should be F2 skill or it’d be useless (unless it had some very short CD – 10 sec maybe?).
IMO it’s useful for it to not combo because it drops on water fields when you want to use the healing combo effect. It would otherwise over lap and interfere, but it helps that it does not do that.
Finishers always use the oldest field, so if it drops on water, then you will still use water. The only exception is fire field – for some reason it always has priority.
Dmg on crits loss is noticeable (I lost like 40% crit dmg
), but I have more crit chance, esp when I use oil, and that gives me more sigil procs. In 1v1 I think I was better with berserker pieces, but toughness is a must for me now, as my guild started organized ZvZ, and I felt like free rally there.
I used serveral builds in this time. From what I remember:
Soldier armor/ weapon and berserker jewelery, scholar runes, sigil of fire.
30/25/10/0/5
After quickness nerf 30/30/10/0/0
Atm I changed rings and trinkets to prec/power/tough (like knight, but prec is main stat) and build to 30/25/15/0/0
I changed traits, but the “must have” for me are: LB range, piercing, 10% dmg on full endurance, 20% reduced CDs on bow.

I’m total “noob” when it comes to those things. Firstly I made one with very good quality, but it was 60GB (.avi) so I converted it with some random program I found in google to .wmv with default settings. This way it took 1h to upload instead of estimated 120h xD
But yeah, quality sux. It took me whole weekend (had problems with crashin during rendering), so I decided to simply leave it as it is. Maybe I’ll play with it more some other time – now I don’t want to make any movies ever again :p
So, I finally found time (and it took more than I expected…) to put together some footage I gathered in WvW. Enjoy!
Imo rangers downed 2. is nearly the best one – only ele has better. Have you guys noticed it doesn’t require LoS and has unlimited range?
It helps a lot with rallying.
- and #2 do less DPS than SB auto attack even before bleeding. #3 is not worth the Vuln you gain for the damage you lose. #4 KB is useful if the other attacks did anything good so why KB (which is countered by stability and teleports) when you can swap to a melee weapon. #5 is the only good skill on LB but its such a high CD, you can move out of it and you are stuck with bad skills for the rest of the weapon swap CD.
1# on max range is awesome in any bigger fight, where your target don’t see you are hitting him to avoid arrows.
Before saying anything about 2# dmg, better calculate it.
3# is very worth it. You can use it between autoattacks without losing anything.
4# KD has great range if you use it in melee. It’s one of the easiest-to-use skills to knock enemies from cliffs/walls and can even be used to throw them down from walls when you are under them.
5# isn’t really good against players, but it’s range is great to clear siege from walls and cripple is very useful in ZvZ.
LB is NOT as good as SB and needs buff, but it has its uses and I have no problems to run with it as “main” weapon, even in duels (GS on swap).
But yeah, in this build it won’t work. For LB to be nice you need 30 points in MM (piercing + range) and imo 25 in skirm for +10% flanking dmg.
I think I need to finally make some movie with all the WvW footage I have, instead of repeating myself over and over again…

It seems we inadvertently outed (some of) our plans for WvW with the above linked page. While we are looking to extend World XP changes for WvW in a later content patch, it still needs some tweaking and therefore isn’t ready to be introduced in this one.
We can however officially let you know we are moving the jumping puzzle for EB into it’s own map, as this has been a much requested feature for our beloved siege fairing community.

Just the fact that you guys at Anet are even considering this sort of thing, shows how out of touch you really are with the WvW community. Instead of adding crap that no one asked for, or will improve the experience, hire someone that can listen to the community, and come up with stuff/fixes that will make WvW better.
I really can’t wait for TESO and Camelot Unleashed. Sadly, CU is a long, long way away. Hopefully, those at TESO will come up with something that’s fun, and has long term enjoyment.

When looking for zerg build remember one thing: as soon as you meet organized zerg and you are glass cannon or sth close to it, you are free rally. ZvZ (organized) prefers tanky/balanced builds.
So, if Viz loses 1st place are you just going to transfer again? I’d suggest to choose a server and make it win, I don’t think any server will be always winning (example of Blacktide: they were in T1, now they are in T9).
Canine for PvP. The knockdowns and cripple are invaluable.
I agree about KDs in PvP, but we can’t generalize. What about ZvZ? And not only the pug meatgrinder – what about organized big guild groups? Single KD there isn’t as powerful as in 1v1.
2 fixes for previous posts:
1. Drakes do NOT have the same stats as canines. In last patch they doubled drake hp
2. Drakes F2 is NOT the slowest one. In last patch it got lowered to 1,5 sec – same as dogs F2.
Currently I’m experimenting with pet combination for ZvZ. Atm I’m thinking about Marsh Drake + Wolf.
From what I noticed drakes auto attack speed and damage are very close or equal to canine ones. Drake seems to be interesting in ZvZ because of his great survi after last patch, blast finisher being nice for friendlies and F2 (in marsh’s case it’s aoe poison with 900 range and it’s tracking target!). AoE auto attacks are just bonus.
Speaking about dmg: with all the kitten flying around, 20 more or less dmg on hit doesn’t change much :P

As MM has been mentioned here, I feel I need to answer. We are not focusing anyone and not trying to push to T9. The main reason why MM decided to attack blue BL is because it’s the one where hills are near our spawn. I think I don’t have to explain why we prefer to bunker in hills not in bay?
I understand the situation of WSR and AS and I’m not happy to be in my current position, but there is not much choice: GH -didn’t- drop on purpose. Yes, we had lower activity, because of players who didn’t like previous week, but we couldn’t do anything about it. What, force them to play?
“We are aware of this and can assure you we are working on it” But it will never get fixed.
Ppl said same about culling.
I don’t like it too, but:
1. Agree
2. ANet said they won’t do anything that punishes players for grouping (yes, someone already suggested the same thing).
3. No, bad idea. There was such thing in WoW and it didn’t work. Numbers still win and it forces enemy to blob even more coz you can’t win 1v1.
WvW is meant to be about players fighting players
And who the kitten are you to tell me what WvW is? For me it is about running dollies and making bunkers or ninja flipping camps. If you want pure GvG wait for ANet to add it or change game, instead of trying to change WvW into something you think it should be.

But yeah, yday I was on lvl 32 fotm with 3 rangers (2 of them LB and 1 spirits) and the only wipe we had was last boss in grawl fractal. Maybe we’d be faster with only warrs/guards, but who cares? That was very smooth run.

Personally, I like pets. They are nice addon to my character. In GW1 I used pet even in non-pet specs, just to have it around me. The thing that I don’t like about pets in GW2, is they are too good. Yes! Too good! I’d rather do all dmg myself and have pet as some small tool to KD or immobilize enemy, not as 30-40% of my dmg.
I think we really need stop to any server transfers. Recruiting in one thing, but being able to join our WvW, waste spot on map, see our /t and /m and occupy siege or waste supplies shouldn’t be possible (or at least not so easy).
If ppl take this game so serious or their moral fibre allows them to play dirty, then it’s not my problem. The thing I don’t like, is the system that makes it too easy.

But why would it be the only quiver? It’s still unique skin and if someone wants it, he has to make it. Rox’s one is just another back item, and the fact it is a bag with arrows doesn’t make my asc quiver any less pretty for me.
Quiver =/= quiver. I still like ascended more and I don’t see reason to don’t give ppl cheaper option.

One major issue that is failing with WvW is that it’s the same matchups every single week and the only reason certain servers are winning is simply due to coverage and numbers, rather than skill and gameplay. ArenaNet needs to reset and make server transfers free again, and reward players that go to lesser populated servers. Another issue is to make it so the points per tick goes down to like 1 pt per tower when one server greatly outnumbers the other servers.
WvWvW isn’t that, it’s PvDoor for 12 hours and WvW for the other 12.
What?! It’s totally oppsoite: NEVER again free transfers. And make paid ones 10x more expensive. It’s normal to have same opponents for few weeks, it’s how rankings work. And it’s good, I had nice month on GH, until some guilds moved and it’s boring again, until ranking stabilizes…

You’re trying to fight the game design and mechanics just to do something that nobody really cares about.
The siege you dro kitten upposed to be disposable and temporary…permanent upgrades to structures are meant to happen through the upgrade system. Allowing your siege to last hours without interaction allows you to override/bypass the normal upgrade system.
Also, the devs have no desire to promote keep camping. Nor do the vast majority of players….if they take the time to think it through. If sitting in keeps waiting becomes the best/effective/only way to defend…. everybody loses.
I do it because I like to do things I feel are helping with winning.
Idk where you play, but even in my T7 it’s normal to have some siege always ready. Even if server X had ppl already in keep (T3 one) and server Y attacked it with 3-4 superior rams, it’s not enough time to set up proper siege. Hell, it’s normal to cap towers/keeps with full siege, the ones without are just karma farm. Unless I have official Dev response, saying siege is not meant to be in keep before it gets attacked, I’ll never belive it.
Also, siege costs badges and you use supplies from camp for it. Upgrades cost money and it eats supplies from tower/keep. I don’t see “overriding/bypassing”, or any other conflict of interests here.
