If you want loot/wxp, then yeah, it sucks.

If you want to help as much as you can in winning, then don’t pick piercing arrows, and don’t use barrage on melee train. With Eagle Eye and Read the Wind I never felt more useful in zerg – and I play ranger since headstart. You can pick squishies one by one, and even if you don’t kill them, the pressure you can constantly put on them (compared to thief who has hard time following if they run through AoE), makes them useless for their team. Thanks to huge range you can quickly and easily change targets to pressure multiple enemies at once – after all most of them will take some time before they notice you stopped focusing them for few seconds.

Plz no. Even PS was better than S1 LS. S2 has some nice story, dialogues and feeling to it, while S1’s story felt just like excuse for world events.

S/D is harder. Not that it matters, really. I play D/P (and I found this combo fun on my own, before reading forums >.> ) and every time I see someone crying it only makes me feel better – not only he is dead, but also I hit his brain so much he couldn’t help it but offend me. Report → block, problem solved, proceed to next kill.

Play what you like not what is “cool”.

I run up to a mob, start hitting it and it takes all of my hits. Is that stacking or glitching?

If it doesn’t move it’s glitching.
If someone else standing on you, it’s stacking.
If it’s not moving and people are standing on you it’s pretty much exploiting.

So if you have full melee party (totally legit), all go to dps boss (totally legit) and he doesn’t move because he uses melee too (totally legit), it’s exploiting?

Direct kill is one thing, but what about him just being left and forgotten? It’s also not good considering how important he was. I think I’d be happy if he just moved to his scholarish stuff and appeared few times in LS as a kind of advisor, but NOT all-knowing unkillable supreme leader. He has experience and knowledge? Nice. Then just put him into some room and we will visit him when we have some questions.

What are you guys even talking about? Did you play ANY game that had a decent story?

From more important: BG, BG2, ME1,2,3, DA1,2, Witcher1,2, all Fallouts, KOTOR1,2, NWN1,2. Also many MMOs, inlcuding SWTOR which is known from good story.

And you know what? This LS, for MMO standards, is epic. It could use better “presentation” (or how to say it in english) – more cutscenes, voiced dialogues etc.

Ok, it’s getting better and better. I was happy LS became actual story, and not just excuse to grind some stuff, during last few parts of LS1, but now it’s simply epic. NPCs nicely remind PC how important he is (guess ANet considered all the complains), characters use some new/better fitting animations, everything is less cheesy. Now it only misses some good twist (and maybe option to choose path :p )

No need to be rude, anyway , most of these questions are for Anet.
For the record, there has been cases of full servers, even my server was full at one point

Not sure where I was rude, but if I sounded like that, then sorry, didn’t mean to.

Servers sometimes are flagged as “full”, but it’s because of many players transfering to them. There is a lot of “medium” servers and transfers are easy, so they really have no reason to open new ones, unless there will be some sudden gigantic influx of players.

I don’t know how people get so high rank. I basically play only WvW. Been playing since launch. (Did some PvP stuff in the beginning but never very far).

And I only have rank 215 or so. Yeah play a lot of alts but that shouldn’t matter now that its account bound.

Anyone who is gold or above probably commands a lot of pug zergs and karma trains fairly often. And is probably on a T1 server.

I’m getting close to gold and I’m thief, never command, mostly solo roaming and raiding, in mid silver server. Next!

I know how you people at anet love npc’s but please. Do not add more npc related nonsense to wvw. Keep that baby business in pve.

smart pve like ogre , dredge or hylek camps are very good type of pve and they need to add more like this or something like wildstar will add as a boss fight after a successfully capture of enemies keep.

mindless pve like centauvs and skirts that are doing nothing excpet make us wasting time to see what is attacking a camp , they should total remove and do not add something like that again.

all npc near wp/towers are good for scouters to pass their time more constructive than just sit there and scout and to increase the weapons stacks

I really don’t consider that smart pve. Its just more things to kill if you are caping a camp. With enough people you will do it fast enough for their npc bs to not matter. Where as if you are alone or duo you mostly avoid these because its a huge waste of time. Edge of the mists is really bad for this case as the players just run around and karma train and farm kills while npc do repairs, auto cannons, really tanky npcs.

If you want more npcs there is always pve. In wvw these things arnt required and I would expect anet to make more player interactive things and less to none pve elements.

i could easy answer to this “If you want more npcs there is always pve.” with this “If you want pure pvp there is always the spvp” , but i will not do it , because most of the players think tha www is just pvp.

they refuse to understand that the pvp is just one tool to have a victory and there are are many other parts in www that satisfy players with more needs from a mmo than to just pvp .

i know people that they love to use sieges, to scout in passive or in an active way , to run dollies or return an easy cap of a camp to a victory alone against a 5 men group by the help of these extra veteran npc …..

You’re addressing the wrong issue. They almost certainly know how to fix the hacking. They just don’t want to spend the effort to do it. You should be telling them why they absolutely need to fix the hacking.

So you’re going to get infracted for nothing.

Sure, so they preferred to delete existing mechanic (orbs) overhaul BL maps to add new mechanic, just because it’s so easy.

Good idea, but 2 “buts”:
1. Too big penalty for false reports. Mistakes happen (on both sides!).
2. Most problematic cheater are ones hitting from below map, and they can’t be targeted by player. Even in combat log they are marked as “unkown”.

On cheating topic I’m still waiting for answer for my report. We will see how it goes, coz at least they respond to tickets (for example grief report), even if it’s negative answer :/

What makes a server good at WvW?

Coverage is mostly important, but there are other factors that help. After all, in theory, there can be 2 servers with perfect 24/7 coverage (all maps queued). Things that help then are ability to keep bloodlust, snipe dollies/sentries (they give raw points), cap for tick, prioritize what to defend/attack. And well, skill for times you actually have to get into that lords room when enemy defend it.

And btw blobbing isn’t the most optimal way to get points. It’s just most used because it doesn’t require any organization, so in pug-ish environment like WvW it works the best. In perfect world, where every person is a dedicated player, using voice comms and with chain of command, splitting would yeld much more points simply because time of capping objectives doesn’t “scale” with numbers that well after some point – you usually don’t use more than 3 sup rams so it’s enough to have ppl with supplies for them and rest building another 3 rams somewhere else.

Exactly what above said. You have lots of PvE JPs. Hands off of one of few we have in WvW where we can gank or jump with some adrenaline when expecting enemy behind every corner.

If anything, they should add more PvE content where players can fight (easiest way is adding it in WvW). Some good old stress and fear from ambush always makes MMO more exciting.

And might I ask what’s so different about your keep that enemy shouldn’t have it? It’s just another structure on map and its position makes it harder for them to defend. That’s it. Keeps are meant to be capped and defended.

What next, they can’t cap it at all or maybe even shouldn’t touch close towers in EB?

People defending stealth thieves just don’t get it. People play a game for fun. Despite the fact that other classes have strong builds, the reason people harp on thieves is:

Fights with warriors are enjoyable.
Fights with guardians are enjoyable.
Fights with eles are enjoyable.
Fights with rangers are enjoyable.
Fights with necros are enjoyable.
Fights with engineers are enjoyable.
Yes, even fights with mesmers are enjoyable.
Stealthed thief, not.

Speak for yourself. I enjoyed fighting thieves on my ranger.

Stealth is OP only against weak opponents. When it’s fight on equal (equaly high, not low) skill level, it’s balanced. By nerfing stealth in one area they will break balance in other one.
Btw I hated stealth too until I made thief myself and learned it – it’s much less spammable that I thought and ALL things depends on it – condi cleanse, self heal, burst, avoidance. So thief has to choose unlike CD based classes.

Regen in stealth too big? Don’t be funny. Warr regens more all the time while thief has to use his resources to get this regen and also doesn’t fight at this time but only waits for hp.

Because it’s natural it’s not fun to be outnumbered and not natural to be OP and one kill enemy with few hits without worrying about them hitting you.

And I guess I should add that it’s been discussed already and they said they don’t want outmanned to give direct boost to players power.

Stat boost is veeeery bad idea. WoW did it in Wintergrasp. It ended in outnumbered side being stupidly OP in open fight, but still always losing because of numbers.

On the other hand, it could boost NPCs stats and maybe numbers? Even if they couldn’t wipe enemy zerg, they could slow them down or even help to balance fights in less extreme causes.

Firstly, I know forum rules so it’s not topic about specific cause (tho it could be after this day…) or person/guild/server (if you are interested, you can find what server I’m on and what servers I fight and then start guessing).

Simple question: most hackers are invisible. How to report them?

At the moment I’m just sending tickets with time, place and description. It helped in past when there was invisible engi in our garri. But not sure now, as last time (before 15th, so no excuse with them being busy) I didn’t get any response, and I’m pretty sure I saw that cheater some time later (can’t confirm it was same one ofc).

Dev answer much appreciated. Yea, I know every topic would want one >.>

Sorry for how fast this post is written. I’m kinda angry and disheartened after meeting 2 different cheaters in single day that destroy this really important WvW week for us :/

But who said the GW2 gold is same gold we use IRL? Real gold became valuable (before it had any technical uses) only because it was rare and shiny. In GW2 there are rarer and shinier metals. Gold is just another metal and has no reason to be expensive.
Gold coins have their value based on marked and the fact it’s accepted currency in whole Tyria. It’s all about system, not real value of materials – this one was true only during “item for item” trade.

Well, if you read about Zweihanders, you can see they weren’t used to swing like we do in GW2. That’s what I meant in my comment about them in first post. Animations and their speed look ridiculous with anything bigger than Ebonblade imho.

And I see some ppl mixing historical weapons here: sure, I like them too, but in this case I have problems only with size. Perfect GS for me would be 2h version of Infinite Light, or something like Ebonblade, but with more effects (runes on blade or sth) and simply more expensive for some showoff :p

Weapons scale so perspective doesn’t matter in this case. Ofc, they scale better to some races than to others – for example asuras have weapons smaller compared to their bodies than other races.
And they can make weapons with good size and shape but still shiny, best example can be Infinite Light (wtb 2h version! :x ).

Hello.

Firstly, I know it’s game and if someone wanted realistic look then there are many much more “problematic” things.

But… is it only me who has problems with size of greatswords? Atm I’m using Foefire’s Essence but it’s still too big and looks stupid when my norn swings it or even during running animation. I’d love to make legendary GS, but they are even longer and much broader, making it a no-no for me :/
Size of most greatswords makes them all look like Zweihänders
The only good looking and sized GS I found are Ebonblade and Cobalt. But you know, I’m average MMO player and using skin worth 3g doesn’t satisfy me xD

What’s your opinion? Does anyone else hope that they add more expensive greatsword with more “realistic” size? Or maybe even new legendary GS (when/if they come – different topic) will be smaller?

My suggestion: leave wbosses as pug events and don’t worry about megaserver and timer, because it will always be just a poor mans raid. Instead give us real, instanced PvE fights where players can play with guild or pug groups (much) bigger than normal 5 man party.

I support GvG system… but not in WvW. Many players, me included, love WvW for what it is – a dirty game with no rules, where power is power and no one asks if it’s skill or numbers or coverage.
Also, making WvW more depending on guild groups wouldn’t reduce bobbing – opposite, it’d increase it. How do you want PUG players (including players who don’t raid with guild at this time) to fight organized groups if not with numbers?

Personally I think ANet hoped custom arenas will become GW2 GvG, and tbh I also think it should, as they use, just like GW1 GvG, PvP characters and balance. It’s players who decided 10v10 is not enough, maps aren’t good enough and skill balance is better for them in PvE/WvW. Hopefully devs do something about it, coz I’m bored of guild meta in WvW – but for a different reason than you

Proposal Overview
Rebalance of vitality and toughness of bosses.

Goal of Proposal
- Increasing viablity of condition based builds.
- Increasing build/gear diversity.

Proposal Functionality
Lowering health pool and increasing armor of bosses would encourage players to use condition based builds up to stacking limit before going into full berserker team. Rebalance should be done in a way that’d keep kill times same as they are now for full power oriented team.

Associated Risks
- Going from one extreme into another – too high toughness to vitality ratio could make condition builds too good. It’d be mostly fixed by conditions stacking limit.

I wanted to pivot to something that Luna mentioned early in the thread, the idea of a more complex fight for Stonemist.

Would it make Stonemist feel too difficult to capture if the assaulting team had to capture and hold 3 capture points? Here are some of the problems I see with it.

1) It would encourage everyone defending to just blob up on one point and hold out as a group.
2) It could be so difficult to actually accomplish that it becomes nearly impossible to flip Stonemist.

However, I think it would be an improvement to the current rush the middle of the room scenario.

Do any of you think this version of Stonemist would be an improvement or does it not really make any positive changes in your mind?

And what about taking it different way: old (middle) circle and lord remains, but lord has 3 stacks of buff (varying in power, but at 3 he is invulnerable) and there are 3 towers or w/e in SM. Capping them removes stacks from lord. It’d be possible to kill him with 2 stacks, but hard, so sometimes players would need to capture (and then hold) more points before assaulting main circle.

Stealth is pretty short, especially d/p one, as it isn’t affected by trait. Blocking backstab DOES punish thief – it buys you time, often resulting* in thief running out of stealth.

*…but yeah, sadly there is a little “l2p” problem. To “punish” thief this way you need to notice that you blocked him and simply turn 180 degrees, so he either wastes BS on facestab and gets revealed, or runs out of stealth trying to flank you again.

What about making it scale with dmg you deal? Whole problem is about AoE’s that tick (so deal low dmg per tick per target…). Raw dmg nerf will hit retal too much when used against slow attackers.

As many stated before: pointless. But to don’t make offtop, I’ll give answer on numbers I actually have SOME idea about, not just pull from my… you know where.

I’m playing on Gunnar’s Hold. Rank 11. Before EotM we had queues on all maps in prime time. 1 WvW map = something above 100 players (120?). 4 maps + ppl in OS = ~500 players. Not counting servers lower in ranking (and yes, they have queues too), it’s 11 servers with 500 players ONLY in WvW, NOT counting ones in queues (and I heard T1 queues are few hours long, meaning that’s even more than already on maps playing).
That means 5,5k players in WvW maps, only on 11 of 27 EU servers. Not counting ones in queues, on rest of servers or on NA servers. I belive, counting only players ON MAPS, in EU at prime time would give around 10k. Queues should double it.

Now add s/tPvP, wBosses, players doing map exploraton, afkers in LA, queens terrace and in all other cities, farmers, players doing LS, hunting achis, doing activities, dungeons (including guild/friend groups that don’t use LFG), fractals…

Impossible to count. If I really had to guess I’d bet money on it being 50k+ online at the same time in EU prime time at any day of week.
