Hi. This topic is a kind of my answer to all cry on forums (ppl always cry, but now they are united :P ).
As we know, legendary weapons will scale to best possible stats. We also know there will be legendary armor some day. What does it mean? It means, no matter how much new tiers they add, when we get legendary armor it will be always the top one.

In every MMO I play archer style character. In GW1 it was ranger, so here I started as ranger too (400+ h played now). The problem is… warrior and his rifle
I’m starting this topic, because I can’t really decide if I should reroll warrior or not.
Ranger has nice range on longbow, and his (1) skill is dedicated for long range fighting, but on the other hand, big part of his dmg comes from pet, so he isn’t focused on weapon as much, as I’d want.
Warrior has totally great F1 skill with rifle – I love it! He also has rifles, which I like more than bows (not much, but still). As disadvantage: only 1200 range.
What do you think? Which one fits archer/marksman/sniper archetype more?
Balance issues doesn’t matter. I’m looking for class for years, everything will change a lot in this matter.

As I said in one before: ranger in GW2 is what ANet want him to be, not some realistic thing. Stop comparing them to RL, because it is fanatsy game and everything can happen.
Doesn’t fit? Then how do you explain necros with axe?
And don’t tell people what they should think. I made ranger coz I like hunter/archer characters and this one is closest one. My ranger isn’t some nature magic, tree hugging guy, but bowman – game gives me chance to build my character in that way.
And no, I don’t really want rifles, but it also wouldn’t hurt. More options = more variety = more players interested.
I also wouldn’t have anything against rager with staff and full-druidic skills
I think all that “ranger is not archer/hunter/anything” isn’t right. In GW1 I was ranger because of bow! Ranger was most bow-oriented class. In GW2 longbow ranger has longest (1500 traited) range, so he also feels good for ppl looking for archer-type character.
Let’s not keep to ranger definition that closely, coz it’s only name. It’s like saing theif should be focused on stealing than knifing, assasinating, being ninja, because he is thief, not assassin :P
And I have to agree that rifles make more noise than bows, but in GW2 there are models with silencers!
And btw. I prefer bows, but it wouldn’t hurt to have another option, eh?

As much as I don’t like legendary bows, I can’t agree here. Kudzu > all GS. Ofc greatswords are shinny, but they look just like crap, like something from asian cartoon (no offence to those who like them).
Btw. is there any video where I can see shooting animation of Kudzu and Dreamer?
Right… bow is “pro-nature” weapon. But you seem to forget bow has been invented to hunt animals and rifle first targer were humans! So how does bow fit for nature defender?
And get out with definitions based on traditional thingies. This is game, not classic RPG. I made ranger because I wanted marksman kind of character (and ranger has longes range in game), just as in every game I play – even GW1.
Why should I be put into some druidic theme if I don’t even use such skills or traits? My ranger is purely bow-oriented. If you imagine this class other way it’s YOUR opinion, not fact.
To sum it up… I don’t see reason to don’t have another OPTION (yep, option, if someone doesn’t want to use it he doesn’t have to) in weapon selection.
Btw. isn’t GS strange for ranger? I understand axe or hammer, but GS is most anti druidic/survivalist 2-handed weapon I could imagine
That ANet made ranger a bit druidy doesn’t mean he isn’t also a hunter type. Since GW1 ranger was always for me a guy with bow and traps. I play ranger coz I like archers, NOT druids, so I don’t see a reason to don’t give us another option… especially now, when both legendary bows are ‘meh’ and rifle looks great :P
If elementalists can use daggerand necros axes, then saying something “doesn’t fit” isn’t in place

Yes it is, your husband is either a girly man, or a brony, which is kinda the same thing, or he wants his ranger to look like a joke. W/e the reason, he is entitled so tell him to enjoy it, Ill pick a more manly and intimidating weapon, because Id rather strike fear in my enemies than make them giggle.
Strike fear? In internet game? O.o The only way is to use gear that shows you play a lot, so MAYBE someone will think that means you are more dangerous in PvP.
I’m using longbow and asking about stats. Not saying what stats I have and if I should use longbow. Understood?
I was thinking berserker can be too squishy and that’s what I made this topic.
If you don’t like the skin transmute it, if you are able to anyways.
Why have legendary if you transmute it?
With this logic we all should play 100b warrior.
Exactly the oposit … Longbow is the 100b warrior, you have 1 skill that does damage (2) and then your auto attacks don’t do any kind of damage.
Actually many ppl are whinning about longbows on the forums .. Just stating the obvious here and i’m getting called uneducated. Anyway, I’m out of this thread.
By mentioning 100b warr I meant going for “the best option” instead of one that gives most fun. Actually all longbow skills are good, only (1) is bad – oposite to shortbow, where (1) is only good skill :P
I didn’t call you uneducated, but I hate when someone makes total crap from somthing that is perfectly viable, just could use slight buff.
