It wouldn’t be if we actually could micromanage the kitten things. That would propably even band-aid their aggro problems. Giving us “attack”, “move there” and “guard me!” commands would already help a lot. Or even a simple “go aggro”/“don’t aggro” switch.

Honestly unless you are going to run a bunker or tanky reaper setup i dont think you would even run blood since you will have plenty of sustain from blighter’s boon combo-ed with chilling force and all the might from being in spite(might on rs auto and when hitting targets below 50%). While out of rs you wont have extra healing you will have extra lf gen and if using you are all weaklings(the possibly only worthwile shout) since it is a 25sec stunbreak that gives weakness, itll also give you 4 stack of might(so 4% lf) per target hit.

so while in rs i think blighters will put out more healing than blood can to our hp, and while out of rs we will generate a lot more lf so when our cd comes up from exiting it last we can have more if not full lf(can even trait for lower rs cd if you are hitting 100% before cd is over).

edit: also with blighters boon any ally spewing out aoe boons will alsop give you lf/hp depending on whether you are in rs or not.

Well , I’m planning on taking blood bond , vampiric presense , blighter boon and Transfusion. Tanky MM build need all of those traits besides Rise!.

Power Reaper might have a problem procing it. Loss of dark path bleeds for example.

Rise! and mark of blood/evasion skills will easily perma proc blood bond.

Reaper Rise! skill is an amazing one, I know that many MM will use it, but what minion utility will you sacrifice for it ? boon fiend got the lowest hp , armor , damage and lifesteal . five horrors are definitely superior especially when combined with the new death nova.

Bone Fiend has very high armor, and HP is pretty similar among all utility minions. Also, all utility minions except Flesh Wurm effectively have the same attack speed, Bone Fiend hits twice with his AA which is on a 3s rotation, Bone Minions both attack once every 3s, and Shadow Fiend attacks every 1.5s. Flesh Wurm is the “worst” at once every 3.5s, but Wurm is easily the most important.

However, Rise! won’t be used commonly. It requires MMs to be in types of fights that they don’t want to be in, and completely passive damage/death novas don’t compare to the on-demand poison/cleave/burst of Bone Minions, the immobilize and finishers of Bone Fiend, or the stun break/movement of Flesh Wurm. Rise! will be used more on condi MM, and probably more on “troll” builds.

What minions utilities do you normally use ? As for Rise! , you said that MM should avoid muti foes fights ,but isn’t that what Reaper is about ? Using both staff and greatsword , we can kill five foes at once easily. Mark of evasion/blood + horrors ( from rise! and death nova ) attacks will guarantee perma Blood Bond proc, not to mention their huge lifesteal (6/7 x ) which they will grant me from Vampiric trait , they will also grant (6/7 x ) life force via Soul Comprehension. Besides , won’t Flesh of the Master , blood bond, Vampiric Presense and aoe regeneration almost keep horrors alive all the time ?

Vampiric presence :

I’d say that it will be abysmal on every powercreep due to it’s rather low number. For example, and I purposedly chose a non hard hitting skill, on Locust swarm it would be a bit over 3% dps increase (for the whole duration of the skill). So, for a hard hitting skill like Heart Seeker or backstab it will be something like 0.3% dps increase.
-> basically, this mean that this thing won’t make the necromancer more desirable in dungeon or anything that need an organized party.

Its main use is to heal me and my minions not increase dps !

I’d replace the wurm since reaper shroud has built in stability.

I don’t use wurm , I just use boon/shadow/blood fiends , boon minion and flesh golem. boon fiend seems the worst.

Is Unholy Sanctuary a must for MM ( necros in general ) ? Using death shroud when below 25% health to heal as much as possible then let the trait do the rest will save us a lot. Its healing is garbage

On the other side, Death nova will summon a horror each 15 sec per kill and create a poison field ( combos ) on minion death = seven poison fields at least from Rise! and the trait itself.

What are your thoughts on each of them ?

Long time ago, Bhawb and other expert minion masters invented some tricks/tips around the minions AI bug . Can you post the most effective/easiest ways to force our minions to attack when ever we want ?

First of all , as for soldier ( PVT ) gear , I’m a MM necro ( planning to become a Reaper at HoT release ). I will use Blood Bond, Vampiric Presense & Transfusion ( Will get Death and reaper trait trees as well ).
I will use both Staff and Greatsword, in order to benefit from Blood Bond as much as possible ( Proc ) , are there any ways beside these to achieve that ? Mark of blood/Evasion , 2 sigils of geomancy ?
According to https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/June-23-Specialization-Changes/first , What is the CD of Blood Bond trait ?

As for Vampiric Presense , it says that You and allies near you siphon health with attacks , are minions considered allies or not ( they are not in Reaper’s Touch skill as they don’t get the regeneration ) ?

I totally agree as I got nine full character slots , six 80es and three 60es.
I have been playing since GW1 and I’m proud of that. Adding 800 gems to the standard version ( we can decide whether to buy a character slot or something else ) will calm all of us down so we would pay 50$ instead of 60$

I totally agree with you, besides I think that mark of blood bleed should be three stacks instead of two. It’s a weak skill which needs to be buffed not nerfed !

I’m very thrilled about this patch. Minion masters specially the reapers got huge buffs to them along with their minions.
First of all , combining both Mark of Evasion/Blood , Last Rites & Blood Bond , my minions and I will get healed constantly . Vampiric Presense , Transfusion and Unholy Sanctuary will grant addition nearly constant healing. Beyond the Veil , Mark of Blood/Evasion + Blighter’s Boon will provide good healing too.
Of course this all depends on whether minions AI will get fixed or not

They’re not permanently gone (probably) , but they will be off the vendor for quite a while. Long enough i wouldn’t even hazard a guess at a bring-back date.

Like any store, we’ll be regularly rotating out sets that are out of season or not popular to keep the vendor from overloading too many tabs.

Over the life of the game, it looks like anything can leave and probably (but not certain) make its way back in.

Hmm probably not very well knowing the AI on our minions. However maybe on some bosses it would work? Just as long as the boss doesn’t have any strong AoE or teleportation moves or retaliation or… eh maybe minions wouldn’t be that great…

You probably didn’t read my signature , I have been playing as MM since GW1 and I know the minions AI very well, however along with the upcoming HoT changes , I’m sure that summons AI will be fixed and they will be much better especially when their traits become baseline

I’m a MM necro , I will definitely get both great sword and staff as they provide AOE damage and support for me and my minions.
Using Nightfall skill will trigger Vampiric Aura , staff main attack will trigger lifesteal , Soul Spiral will trigger leeching polts.

According to some videos about HoT and http://dulfy.net/gw2traits , we will be forced to pick three trait trees only. What if I want a trait from a forth trait tree instead of a useless grandmaster one ( from the selected three trait trees ) for my build ? It’s unfair to waste them

ITheNormalPerson.9275, that’s a good idea. It would be a simple Hue shift. Hues can be broken up into degrees. So you could get 6 basic hues; Red is 0/360, Yellow is 60, Green is 120, Aqua is 180, Blue is 240, Pink is 300.

It’s not perfect and would result in some strange looking combos but it is simplistic and most basic way to change a weapons colour.

The Daydreamer weapons would change to the following

1. Blue metal, Pink glow
2. Pink metal, gold glow
3. Red metal, Yellow/Green glow
4. Gold metal, Green glow (Default)
5. Green metal, Blue glow
6. Aqua metal, Purple glow

When it came to basic weapons like the Iron Dagger, most of it would shift in hue aside from the grey steel, that would stay relatively the same.

I guess they could apply the hue effect through a filter, and maybe they could make it a hue slider so you could get subtle shifts in hue. Don’t know how hard it would be add an effect filter though.

In a cosmetic game, dying weapons makes a ton of sense. I would like it as well. won’t happen though, a dev awhile back posted about how weapon dye channels aren’t possible with their current engine.

This should work as armor dye channels do. Why is it any different ?

“Dyeing” weapons would really make no sense.

Why not ?! It’s for the same reason that you would dye an armor/outfit.
It’s not unique if every one has the exact look of your weapon/back !

As I’m playing as a necromancer ( will be a reaper ) , it will be more suitable to equip a green/red Zenith Avenger Skin than a yellow"cute" one ! . Green/red Wings of the Sunless/Holographic Shattered Dragon Wings will be scary too

I heard that that new Fetid Consumption trait will be > Each summoned minion draws conditions from their master & spreads them to his foes. Anyways , do Fetid Consumption, Corrupt Boon and Epidemic condition damage scales with my stat or my foe’s ?
I think that it will make much sense if it scales with my foe’s condition damage as it’s his condition in the first place.

Its not like they can see it on the forums and see “oh people don’t like the AI, let me change it!” and then in 5 minutes fix it. Its tied into the AI of all mobs. The current AI system, assuming it worked properly, is great. It is simple, it gets the job done.

The overall AI of the entire game is fine , the problem is just with the Necro minions.
Guardian spirits , Thief summons , Elementalist pets , Engineer turrets , Mesmer illusions and Ranger pets are working effectively without any AI bugs.

This idea about fixing minions AI has been posted in the forum many times, however Anet didn’t apply it even when it seems that it’s the only solution !

The reason why your build would be good on paper is because of the massive team/minion healing through auto-ing with renewing blast trait. This is where i have to ruin your dreams though. Renewing blast is being removed in core trait update and its spot is being taken by dhuumfire. Sorry bud

Can you provide me the source(link) about renewing blast removal ?
Even so , the other changes are wonderful !

I dont get it. Make up your mind.

Well , AI will be fixed on HoT release . Until then , mm is not 100% viable build

With these upcoming amazing changes , we will finally claim our right to rule !
Vampiric Aura ( Buff that allows allies “minions” to siphon health and increases our own ), Renewing Blast ( Life Blast heals allies that it passes through , this will apply to Life Rend/slash/reap according to wiki > This skill inherits traits from Life Blast. ), Nightfall+Soul Spiral > many leaching bolts , Soul Spiral ( from wiki > This skill inherits traits from Life Transfer. ) will heal our minions via Transfusion , Blighter’s Boon > Reaper’s Might + Chilling Force = much healing ! & finally “Siphon effects from Blood Magic, specifically the Vampiric traits, will heal you while you are in Death Shroud.
Life Siphon will be revised to heal you through the Death Shroud.”
When their AI will be fixed ( I’m sure that it will ) , we will wreak havoc again !

Well, Bone Fiends for example have decent damage (just about 200 DPS each), plus they’d provide a ton of finishers which is really nice, and they apply cripple every 10s. This is overall nice and works for any build, since it amplifies what you are already doing via combo fields.

As an example, if you are condi and have some poison fields, 5x bone fiends is 10 stacks of poison every 3 seconds, and the poison will last for 2s base. If you have dark fields down they deal around 2k extra damage (and heal themselves) every 3s on top of their passive damage. Through an Ice field they’d apply chill, fire = burning, etc. This makes them useful no matter what build uses them, plus they are the most reliable minion to use.

This or new AOE healer minions ( can be replaced by changing the vampiric master trait description with " minions attacks heal themselves and their master ".

I totally agree
The same goes for MM , if you spec for MM ( all traits are scattered as well ) , you can’t spec for any thing else !
Developers should rearrange all classes traits !
