actually you can have permanant protection, protection is -5 energy per sec, you restore energy at 5 per sec, this gives you permanent protection as long as you have no other facets up. And I never did backpedal to anything, I acknowledged that you were right about reflects vs blocks on projectiles. Learn to take that small victory.

Also, I said FROM WHAT WE HAVE SEEN SO FAR, Nowhere did I say that reflects were never going to be useful, just not in what we’ve seen. Revenants are still a massive teamwide dps boost due to 150 ferocity traits to the entire team, guardians give toughness, which….is not wonderful to say the least.

Revenants simply bring more to the table.

The reflects for rev I believe is actually a hammer skill. 6 seconds of reflect on a 12 second cooldown Guards are 10 sec reflect on 40 sec cooldown, revs on average have 8 more seconds of reflect uptime than guardians do, you can do all this with a shiro/glint build. Not to mention you can give the team permanent fury+ might stacks( though i admit thats not wonderful with ps warriors around) you could also choose to give permanent protection instead.

Its not a reflect. revenant does not have a reflect. Projectile destroyer is inferior to reflects.

Ah my mistake, you’re right. even so, so far from what we’ve seen neither are useful in raids so far, and I already stated guardians will still be useful in fractals. We’ll wait and see, but from what i’ve seen so far it seems like rev is bringing more to a team than a guardian in any other situation where reflects and stability is not really needed.

Strength do more dps than rage, but scholar more than both if you can keep over 90% health. But on a melee class, i find that to be difficult since your always on the front lines.

We don’t like underwater combat because there is nothing worthwhile underwater, there are none of the fantastic underwater cities that they promised, and there are very very few encounters that actually make you have to use underwater content.

The combat was never really the issue, it’s the fact that there’s so little content that it’s just pointless.

He did speak for his own circumstances.

She also spoke of other people’s circumstances. If she had spoken only of how it was not expensive for her that would be one thing. Telling others to get a job is something else.

Personally I am willing to spend hundreds of dollars for a game that I feel is worth it. I spent in the neighborhood of a thousand dollars in the months following GW2’s launch.

I would consider HoT to be too expensive if priced at anything above $0. This is not because I am unwilling to spend money. It is purely because what has been announced as included in the price of the expansion is without worth to me.

I guess the last 3 years of free play

I paid for every minute of that, “free,” play. Until very recently so did everyone else.

Except that you really didn’t you paid 50-60$ for the base game. The no subscription fee is what allowed you to enjoy all that time for no extra cost. Every other major MMO on the market has a subscription fee. Had this been WOW, you’d have paid that for the base game, 15 dollars a month as well as 20-40 dollars for each new expansion. Add up 10-15$ a month for this game over 3 years n get back to me. Even at 10$ the cost is far more.

Actually, if this game had a subscription, I never would’ve paid the $40 for the base game, or the $15 for my second account. I never would’ve spent money in the gem store.

This argument that content updates are somehow special and should be treated as extra value is the worst kind of straw man argument. The base game was sold with the expectation (based on actual statements from the company) that it would be regularly updated in order to, you know, keep the players playing. ANET didn’t do us some random charity with their updates- it was part of a business plan.

Just stop acting like the updates to an MMO should be factored into the cost of an expansion. The way I see it? It’s the cost of keeping players interested and engaged.

Acting? It’s called reality buddy, Anet is a business, businesses are in it for money. The fact that you personally wouldn’t have bought the base game and are using that as an example is a strawman in and of itself. Many still would have.

Do you even hear yourself? I literally just said that ANET is a business. What you’re ignoring is that the content updates and the decision not to have a subscription fee were both business decisions. The expansion should stand on its own merit, not on what ANET did to retain their players in the first place. Here, read this if you think you can handle some logic. It has a quote from ANET in it that supports my position, including the words: “You don’t just launch a box and be done with it.”

the expansion should count on its own merit? it’s like you have never played games that offer expansions before. they are a suppliment to an existing game. not a standalone game. Quotes from Anet really mean nothing at this point, how many times have they gone back on their word now?

So…..get the elite specs?

That’s the core of the complaint, having the elite specs gated behind expansion content. This means we’ll have to play new expansion content with the same ‘ol characters we’ve played for the past 3 years. Likely have to do masteries in order to unlock some hero challenges.

It’s just boring and disappointing to have to play these same ‘ol characters in the new expansion, and have to repeat it over and over and over and over until you’ve done it for all your characters and unlocked their elite specs. All this just so we could play the new elite specs in the new expansion content both in PvE & WvW.

If you don’t understand this, then I’ve got nothing further to say to you. I wish Colin would come back and talk with the playerbase more so players don’t have to tear each other apart on behalf of Anet. It’s clear some are ok with it, some aren’t. No sense letting players kill each other over it because nobody’s going to change anybody’s minds here.

I understand it, it’s just ridiculous that people thought that they were just gonna get their elite specs with no work.

So…..get the elite specs?

The complaint is, they want to START doing the new content with the new elite specs already. They don’t want to play the same thing they’ve been doing all these years, and THEN get the elite spec after they have pretty much already finished all of the HoT content.

Cause then what would be the point in having new fancy elite specs, if you won’t even have them fully unlocked until the end of all the content? Then what would you do with them after you’ve done everything already just to unlock them in the first place?

So they want to be able to get them before starting HoT, so they can experience all the content in HoT while playing/testing the new elite specs.

I sincerely doubt you’ll have to play through " Most " of HOT to unlock them. It’s not going to take as long as people think. People will have them in under a week

lol it’s like no one reads at all, it’s 40 hero points on the new maps you don’t need to do core tyrian hero points at all which takes far longer.

Well I had more typed, but I broke the rule to copy everything before I click reply x.x

We do not know that the jungle hero points are easier. We do not know what masteries might be required to access them. If it’s maxed masteries… then you are not going to be able to convince me that they will be easier than getting Central Tyrian hero points.

This keeps getting said that they will be easy to get, and we do not know that at all. they could very well be difficult, and if gated behind the masteries, especially higher than the first tier.. Well, we just don’t know yet. Even if they are easy to get, it’s still requiring those that want the elite specs, to rush the content to get the hero points.

That’s true and im sure some will be gated to a small extent, but to say that you’ll need max mastery points is a bit ridiculous and an over reaction. You may need a few gliding points or mario jumping points but I sincerely doubt it’s going to be very difficult

It’s starting to sound as if they are selling an incomplete product.

You need to do X to get your Elite specs eventually, sorry Guild hall arenas will take X time to get, Raids won’t be released until X date.

So wtf exactly is it we paid for ? The ability to eventually play content ?

This is exactly right. One of the big things that nobody brings up about expansion packs is that after release, all new content requires the expansion pack. Even content that isn’t explicitely listed as part of the expansion pack. You have to pay if you want to play all the new stuff.

Did you really expect any less?
