Hello everyone, I am at a stage where I want to craft my last legendary (have 2 already but never use, because thief cannot use them), I know how hard the grind is but I have started to play as a p/d condi thief and it is very addicting (more than staff/gs mesmer anyway). I wanted to craft incinerator at first but after thinking about the effect of bolt it seems much better. I would have started to craft bolt but I don’t think there are any meta builds for a sword/? Thief, if there is please mention to me. I only do wvw/pvp and solo most of the time.
Anyway what are your opinions on whether I should craft bolt or incinerator (based on appearence and usefulness), please bare in mind this will absolutely be the last legendary I craft (too much grinding), and I am also thinking of leveling a warrior will sword be useful?? Also I am in the process of crafting celestial gear for my d/d ele….

I’ve been trying for years to get a pre drop and a legendary…… soooo if you get spark and decide “hey I want bolt instead” feel free to send it to me! Just saying I’m calling dibs if you give it away
I have played since beta, and Im lucky to see a rare item. I don’t believe it’s all luck though It seems im so unlucky that you could give me a 99% chance of getting something good, and I’d still get the 1%.
I tried the forge a few times and always got worse items then I put in. All my guilders have legendaries and I can’t even get my pre. I have to agree with op. It’s rigged.
Some Players are lucky, other players are lucky they get to play.
I dont know about you guys, but one of the things that makes me not play alts is having no way points unlocked and having to walk all over again. And for what?
So heres what i propose. World Completion is account bound. The gift of exploration sits in the same achievement tab as your achievement rewards and can be used multiple times.
when you make a new character all WAYPOINTS are unlocked. nothing else.
now some of you are thinking, well whats the point of doing hearts or vistas then if we already have unlimited use of Gift of Exploration? Well you would still get a reward for world completion. And exp to lvl.
In my eyes theres really no point in having to do exploration again and again and again. Why should we? Those who got it, got the achievement for a reason. i shouldn’t have to walk all the way to the new maps on my lvl 80 alts.
Pure lazyness? You can say that. But again, I really really hate doing the same thing over and over and over. In this case walking to unlock the same waypoints again and again.

What is the difference if you get the blues/greens in the bags or if you get them from random drops?
What I mean is they create new bags, but there’s nothing new about them. It’s the same items you can get in any other bag.
Anyone else kinda sick of Anet making “new” drop bags, only to have them give you the same garbage greens and blues in any other bag? Why bother?
I want a legendary. I’ve been playing since launch and don’t have one. Someone give me spark for free. Everyone else has been begging lately.

You guys haven’t tasted dead WvW until you’ve played on Kaineng. I think it was Monday, and I was the only one on my server in EB. The only one. One person in EB.
I’m on Kaineng too. I can confirm WvW is unpopular. I ran all of our own borderlands as the only one on before. And they say I don’t have a right to complain, or “switch servers” which is $30 btw. Uh no thanks.
I tend to go with the theory that Moddy was supposed to awaken earlier, and that the sylvari are supposed to be his minions, but Ventari screwed that up.
Also, we already had 3 dragons: jormag, krakatrorik, and Zaithan. So, it’s not like we haven’t had to deal with a bunch of them already.

Well what if both attack at the same time then? What if it was bubbles turn to awake in the cycle, but since scarlet awoke modremoth early, there would be two dragons to deal with.
What if bubbles and mordremoth are awoken at the same time?
Ideally for ANet is to make both EU/NA and China content be the same. Ex, if LA is destroyed in EU/NA, it’s also destroyed in China…call it synchronization. This way..any update they do for one zone, it automatically applies to the other 2.
This way no one wins or looses. It’s the same for everyone.
I dunno in what situation China is atm content wise…like LA being destroyed..or scarlet or whatever. For them to make it like on NA/EU would mean to skip/sacrifice S1 or make it extremely short in order for China to catch up to NA/EU content wise.
But they also have to change the content to suit the publishers wants. If they are rushing things to catch up to us, it would be nice because then we would all be on the same page of the same book.
But, if they’re taking their time or forced to wait, why would they bother with content over here if they’re trying to get caught up in China?That just makes more work for them.

So what IF the reason things are always being put on the back burner is because Anet is catering to China? Think about it. If they are just starting out, like we did, then they have a lot of content headed there way. Living stories arnt even around yet. (Right?) It’s kinda like being ignored by a waiter in a low populated restaurant. Or being the first child who gets ignored by parents cause they just had a second.
I also saw that NCsoft had some huge layoffs…….except anet was the only one who didn’t, so they’re not hurting for cash. China must have gave them a huge shot in the arm. Therefore, what if china does start to get better, and more content before us just because players are paying more?
What if China is actually doing really really bad? And Anet is struggling to keep it a float over there all while tossing US/EU a bone every now and then. (Talk of guild halls/Raids)
Who does anet care about more? They’re new Chinese players or they’re EU/US loyals?
These are just some of my theories as to why things arnt moving here. I don’t know enough about China’s version to state facts, nor confirm these theories.

Ordering from online from above places, or from Amazon or the GW2 shop, works if you cannot find local copies, though most bookstores would order them for you to have them delivered to the store (something you can likely do online too).

Yes, you’ve made yourself clear. It still doesn’t make sense, from a play-ability stand point or a balance stand point.
You do realize that having 2 less skills would make you less effective overall right? It would be intentionally gimping yourself.

What exactly is so bad about using an off-hand weapon? What advantages do you have only using a sword against someone using a sword and a pistol? This is just how the GW2 combat system works.
There is nothing wrong, but it would be nice to just use one weapon and open up 2 more skills for doing so. Just another way to play.

I was thinking. Why are we forced to have a off hand? Why don’t they just add 2 more skills when there’s no off hand equipped? I came up with some skills for the theif. Of coarse this wouldn’t be limited to theifs.
Main hand Sword/no off hand:
[Skill # 4 Four incentive] :Perry
Deflect incoming attacks and counter for half damage dealt.
[Skill # 5 Six incentive]: Assasins lunge
Lunge at the target for light damage causing knock down.
Inflicts 5 stacks of vulnerability.

[Skill #4 Four incentive]: Blink strike

I say no to rebuilding of towns. Why? Cause, think about, new players will never get to experiance LA like the vets did. We, (the vets), were part of the living story. The history of tyria.
New players will ask, " what was lions arch?" And we shall reply, “the greatest meeting spot where countless Legendary heros stood around for hours doing nothing, watching the mystic toilet crush people’s dreams!”
But seriously, I like being a part of history new players will never get a chance to experiance. If towns get destroyed, then so be it. We were there for it, in Tyrias history books.
Throw 4 legendaries in the toilet for a 0.000000000002% chance of getting the second hint!
If there’s nothing to do, nothing new, I got everything I want, pvp/WvW is unbalanced, my story is complete, fractles/dungeons are stale, world completion is “been there done that” collecting spoons? No thanks. Crafting is done, legendaries are for the birds, there’s literally nothing else to do that intrest me.
So why do I keep coming back? Why are so many players who have done literally everything, keep playing? Why are you still playing? What is this Guild Wars attraction that won’t let go even when there’s nothing left?
Point of this post is, I can’t figure out why I’m still spending hours playing this game.

Two years after hitting lvl 80 and I’m still trying to find the answer to this question.
I thought of this yesterday when I was killing some enemy yaks. Why don’t they have it when a theif steals from a yak, they get 2 supplies from it?
By the time you reach 10 stacks from a yak, it’s dead, or gone. Then again I wager by the time you can use steal more then 3 Xs you probably killed it.
The other idea is straight forward. Kill a yak, get 10 supplies. They are carrying it right?
This would give players more of an incentive to kill enemy yaks, and promote the achivement for yak slapper.

So my point is, let’s do something with it. It’s empty.
I was about to shoot down the notion because pve and pvp just don’t mix but an idea just occurred to me. If players had to guard a golem going through the puzzle instead of doing it themselves while trying to destroy other server golems, it might work. To keep it fair, player skills are replaced with controls for the golems so they can’t directly fight one another. Also traps only work on golems. Have it so golems are constantly moving and players get teleported back to the beginning if they are out of range with their golem for too long. This way gankers can’t camp.
It’s just a rough idea and the area would need to be redesigned so players could more around easily but maybe it could work.
Problem with this idea is…golems can’t jump…
Zax pretty much nailed it. Those that wanted to do the jumping puzzle often get tired of getting ganked so they stopped. With no one to gank, the grievers have no reason to be there either. I’m shocked it took this long to empty out.
So my point is, let’s do something with it. It’s empty.
The problem is that the kind of people who enjoy doing JP’s are usually not the same people who enjoy PvP. (Or at least, not at the same time.) I like doing JP’s, and before EotM came out, I did Obsidian Sanctum every night for the Badges. But I really, really hated getting ganked or killed by cheap shots in there; when I’m in Obsidian Sanctum, I’m there to do the JP, not to fight. If I wanted to fight, I’d go to WvW or sPvP.
BUT it is , in the end, a fair PvP grounds.
whatever you do, do it with the little guilds in mind.
I don’t know about other servers, but the obsidian sanctum is always dead. Why not just change it to a king of the hill gaunlet for the 3 worlds to fight over? Just put the point at the top. When a world caps it, they get a world buff, let’s say a perma speed buff for an hour.
When the hour is up, to keep it fair, the point resets and can’t be caped for 30mins.
Can you imagine the mayhem in that place? Even if a Mesmer portals people, there would still be enough people to stop the cap.
Obsidian sanctum is such a dark, lonely, mysterious place that I feel isn’t appreciated by having little to no population. It’s there, why not use it?
How different would the game be if you had to run from city to city vs teleporting? Let’s say you can only waypoint/teleport to your race home city. Would the player base venture out or stay in one area? What would happen to LA? If you died you would be forced back to your city. Would it encourage team play? Think WvW. What if PvE played like WvW.
What do you guys think would happen to the game?

You try doing a clean install? What have you tried so far?
What does it do when it crashes? Blue screen? Goes back to desktop?
Every time this happen to me I thought it was the ram. It wasn’t. Turns out it was my graphics card being burned out. I got a new card….it burned out….returned for another one….that bured out……got another one, called nvidia, I was under volting my card. Fixed it. And now I’ve been playing fine ever since. That was a year and a half ago.
Point is check your card and psu. As crazy as it sounds just because you get a read error doesn’t mean it’s ram. It could be your card going. My psu failed which lead to under volting and burning out my cards while playing.

You’d have people complaining constantly about the “annoying surveys I get all the time”.

Everyone has suggestions, but why don’t you guys start a post and ask what the community wants to see in the game. Then take the most popular ideas and put it to a community vote, and lets see the most wanted feature to actually be worked on. You guys say you listen right? Then what better way then to take a vote to see what we really want rather working on things we don’t find fit at the current time. Post the votes on FB, put a reminder to “Go vote!” in the game mail boxes! You have more tools then these forums to find out what people want in the game.
I love guild wars 2. But I’m losing people to play with to WoW and other games cause there’s NOTHING else to do here. Help us help you. Just something I thought Id share.
There are plenty of people to play with, if you are part of an inactive guild, then join an active one. This game is casual friendly which means players will come and go as long or as often as they’d like. Some will return, some may not.
Polls can easily be skewed by how they are worded or how they are perceived, the answer options or even the number of accounts a single person owns. Plus the cost of such polls may outweigh the benefits that Anet/NCSoft wants.
The current suggestion function on the forums works just fine. The companies can see the type of feedback here on the forums and choose to ignore/implement as they see fit.
It’s not that it doesn’t work, it just doesn’t reach all of the player base. Not everyone is on the forums 24/7. I like draknars idea of the in game survey. It reaches EVERYONE in the game. No ones left out and no ones voice is unheard.
If people of the player base express how they feel about the game and what they would like to see, this will give anet more of a “priority” list.
For example we all want new legendaries.
But we all want new maps.
Anet will better see this when voiced in the survey and can see what’s more important to implant.

Let me explain to you why this won’t work.
It won’t work because there’s no way to reach out and ask every player playing the game what they want and how they want it.
You mention making use of player suggestions and using votes – my question is where?
The forum population is a very small part of the total population of players playing the game.
More so – the forum population isn’t even representative for the majority of players in game as the people who post on these forums are usually highly invested in the game and at least more knowledgeable about the game than average.So you want to ask a minority of the player base how to change the game? It might work ( in the small picture) and those who posted, suggested and voted and whose voices were heard might be satisfied but in the big picture you might lose more players who never even touch the forums and who will feel too alienated by the changes.
Though the idea has merits in theory the bottom line is you can’t have people “vote” because you don’t even have a means to reach them.
What about returning players? There’s a sizable amount of players in hiatus right now – and while they’re not here at the moment they might be back with the new LS patch. Do you exclude them ? Do you include them?
How do you determine who gets a vote?
Ultimately it isn’t doable.
On log in: big pop-up in the middle of your screen. You get a reward for filling out the survey. It will exclusively hit active players of all types. That’s how you do it. You don’t need facebook, you don’t need forums, neither of those are representative anyway. You need the players and where better to reach the people who play your game than in the actual game.

I think everyone’s missing the point of my idea. Abets still in charge of what they put in the game. But if they’re are seeing a lot of people who want the same thing then they should put it to a in game vote. I don’t understand how this isn’t a good idea for anet and the community. If majority of the player base wants something how is that bad when they wanted it????
The whole idea is to get the one feature people want sooner. And yes if you are the 10% vs the 90% then I’m sorry? We get what we vote for. If the majority wants flying toilets then we’re getting flying toilets. Sorry.
No, no, don’t apologize if you’re not really sorry. You mean this proposition seriously, while I don’t think many would take it seriously or even think of it.
Then move on to the next thing we want and agree on. It’s not only getting what we want but this allows when we get them.
Don’t contradict yourself in the same post, that’s always going to look sketchy. You already admitted “we” aren’t going to get all the things “we” want, but one of “us” might if we voted “the right way”.

Designing games by committee never works. Most people aren’t as good at game design as they think they are.

Its not about game design, its what we all want in the game. This is why we vote. if it ruins it for the 10% in favor of the 90% thats a win. that 10% isnt gonna pour money into anets wallet. the 90% will.
But everyone doesn’t vote. The people that post on the forum, traditionally anyway, are a minority of the playerbase. The company has to look out for the whole playerbase, not just the forum nobility.
