I want Thieves to be better, not worse. However the only way for them to get better, is for a series of nerfs and buffs. No one seems to understand that though.

Arganthium, Thieves rely on those things because they are their ONLY good abilities. Nerfing them, and bringing other skills up to an equal level will open more viability, just like Necro, just like Ele.

How many D/D Elementalists do you see in PvP? Essentially what you just said is “Buff all of Elementalist’s other stuff but also keep D/D builds because that contains all of their good abilities”. No.

TPvP/SPvP builds

TheMightyAltroll.3485

I was wondering which builds people are having more success with in TPvP and SPvP. I checked out the stickies, and tried the 5x fear build, but it didn’t seem as potent, or maybe I wasn’t playing it right. What are most of you using in PvP?

I posted 3 of my 34 PvP builds on here: “Vampire Lord”, “Potentate”, and “Minion Lord”

Check them out if you like, all 3 are viable in tPvP, but if I had to value them based on usefulness, I’d have to say Potentate is the best build out of the three.

I have many more builds, but I won’t be posting them much on the forums, so if you want further help or advice for PvP Necro, message me ingame and add me. I’ll be glad to help.

You do realize. That I easily, and unrelentingly dominate Thieves? Stealth, why do you think that I want to nerf Thieves or Elementalists because I can’t beat them? I can beat them. I can beat you, and I can beat every other Thief out there. I’m calling for a Nerf to the things they are forced to rely on, and a buff to their other skills.

I want Thieves to be better. Nerfing SR, nerfing HS, nerfing DB, and buffing some of their traits/weapon sets will help them.

I want Thieves to be buffed in ways that allow them to be more viable. I want them to be nerfed on the things that every thief on the planet relies on.

Please, do read comments more effectively before basing your biased opinion or reporting. Nerfing something doesn’t mean “omg i cant kill them nerf dem nao” as much as you think it does. My suggestion to you, Mr Stealth: Learn to read.

Now, if he doesn’t understand this point for the 4th time, will someone who understands my point please be so kind as to explain to him exactly what I’m saying, as I do not want him to report me again because the only way I could get my point across to him otherwise is with a series of expletives, as he’s beginning to frustrate me.

Except that SoU is a… Signet. What did you expect, that you’d get both the passive as well as a superior active? Also, SR doesn’t get an insta-res. In fact, you’re often lucky to pull off one res in SR. AoE and CC make SR ridiculously difficult to rez in. It’s crazy.

Also, SR is our only real direct defense ally support.

The cooldown still makes this a very difficult skill to time properly.

The heal really isn’t that much. I’m pretty sure eles heal for more just by switching to their Water attunement for three seconds.

Signet of Undeath is a crappy signet, with virtually no point in it having a passive. The LF gain is virtually nonexistent to justify it being a signet. I understand that SR is your only real defensive support option, that doesn’t mean it needs to be strong as sin. No, I’m not QQing because I can’t defeat it, I’m irritated because too much reliance is put on that. I can’t go 30 seconds in a game with a Thief without seeing either Heartseeker, Deathblossom, or Shadow Refuge. What I want to see is more diversity in Thief, so they don’t have to rely on such gimmicky and rather annoying things.

If you want to talk about adding in another “Dark” themed class that uses heavy armor, fine, but at the moment Necromancer is a Scholar type. I’ve never seen a Scholar use a mortal shield. Ever.

Ah but then this is a generation that would like to see a cyborg spartan ninja be a playable character in Mario Brothers.

Why don’t we just give everyone heavy armor and a giant sword/shield then. They evolved. Like pokemanz

Necromancers are sorcerers that use the magic of death to boost their defenses, they face their enemies full on, exposed, bringing death and destruction in the form of weakness and pestilence. They aren’t the type to hide behind a shield. Even if they were, they’d just spontaneously create a wall of skulls or something to block attacks.

Vampire Lord - tPvP build (Leeching Tank)

in Necromancer

Posted by: TheMightyAltroll.3485

TheMightyAltroll.3485

The purpose of this build is to provide a roaming tank that is difficult to kill even in 2v1, and applies decent DPS over-time. It’s specific role is to dominate bursters under any means.

Traits

  • 30/0/10/30/0
  • Spite: VI, X, XII
  • Death Magic: I (Alternatively you can place 10 points into Curses instead for Chilling Darkness)
  • Blood Magic: II, VIII, XII

Equipment

  • Knight’s Amulet (Berserker’s Jewel)
  • Axe (Sigil of Leeching) and Focus (Sigil of Force)
  • Dagger (Sigil of Leeching) and Dagger (Sigil of Force)
  • Runes of the Vampire

Utilities

  • Consume Conditions
  • Well of Suffering
  • Well of Corruption (Or Well of Darkness)
  • Signet of the Locust
  • Flesh Golem

Primary Stats

  • 2075 Power
  • 29,802 Vitality

This build is based purely upon 2 things: Power, and Health. It is designed to mitigate huge quantities of damage with Leeching, it is impossible to burst without being severely outnumbered. It destroys other tanks, and eats burst players.

The main strategy is to perform switches often in this build, to leech as much health as possible. Your Flesh Golem is there to add CC and increase your damage output, HOWEVER, do not summon it BEFORE a fight. Summon it DURING a fight, catching opponents off guard for extra bursts (Also allows for extra toughness when you truly need it)

This build is simple for it’s effectiveness, it accomplishes it’s purpose. If anyone has ideas on how to improve on it, please share them.

If you can master the CDs on this build, the Mist Form will be a godsend. Allowing you to pop your wells, your heal, and your Signet for upwards of 60% of your health back, and even more if you have multiple opponents.

(If Leeching is ever fixed to scale with healing power, I’ll make a switch to Valkyrie)

Potentate - tPvP build (Wellbomber)

in Necromancer

Posted by: TheMightyAltroll.3485

TheMightyAltroll.3485

This build is designed to roam and put down extreme damage on single, or even multiple targets. It can easily handle any 1v1 encounter it comes across, dominate group combat, and even defeat 2v1.

Traits

  • 30/20/0/20/0
  • Spite: II, X, XII
  • Curses: III, VIII
  • Blood Magic: I, VIII

Equipment

  • Berserker’s Amulet
  • 6 Runes of Divinity
  • Dagger (Sigil of Force) and Warhorn (Sigil of Air)
  • Axe (Sigil of Bloodlust) and Focus (Sigil of Bloodlust)

Utilities

  • Consume Conditions
  • Well of Suffering
  • Well of Corruption
  • Well of Darkness
  • Lich Form

Primary Stats

  • 2,199 Power
  • 24,262 Vitality
  • 47% Crit chance
  • 32% Crit damage

The main strategy with this build, and all Wellbombing builds, is to lock down opponents inside your wells. This is easier achieved through first using Dark Pact to immobilize your opponent, putting down a Well of Darkness (Or WoC if they have stability active) which will blind/chill them making it harder for them to escape if they remove the immobilize, then daze them (2 Second daze off Warhorn), and put down your other 2 wells. Then proceed to burst with your dagger.

Your Axe and Focus are only there for defense against good Kiting players, and to stack bloodlust.

This, in my opinion, is a very strong build that can easily turn the tables on Thieves, or any other burster, as well as dominating bunker builds. It has minor difficulty against Retaliation and Limb-regenerating Rangers. It has above average survivability mixed in with it’s incredible damage.

Minion Lord - tPvP build (Hybrid)

in Necromancer

Posted by: TheMightyAltroll.3485

TheMightyAltroll.3485

The purpose of this build is to combine incredible toughness, with a strong condition presence.
_____________________
Traits

  • 0/10/30/30/0
  • Curses – VI
  • Death Magic – II, VIII, XI
  • Blood Magic – II, V, VII

Equipment

  • 6 Runes of the Undead
  • Shaman’s Amulet
  • Staff (Sigil of Venom)
  • Scepter and Dagger (Both with Sigils of Corruption)

Utilities

  • Consume Conditions
  • Bone Minions
  • Shadow Fiend
  • Plague Signet (Or Corrupt Boon, or Well of Power)
  • Flesh Golem

Primary Stats

  • 2,189 Toughness
  • 1,040 Condition Damage (1,290 With full corruption boons)
  • 21,372 Vitality

The main playstyle of this is to play like any normal Conditionmancer, but to use your Minions to build up the conditions the opponents stack on them using the Plague Signet, and then eat all of the conditions for health, send them back (twice), or simply keep pulling them to support teammates.

It’s a hybrid build I’ve recently tested in 3 tournaments against above average players. It shined significantly in group fights, but was difficult to master in 1v1s against opponents with heavy CC.

Hope you enjoy and can improve upon this rough build.

Honestly Moa isn’t very good, but it certainly is against a Necro. Removing all minions, stopping Lich form, removing Plague form. They have just enough condition removal to annoy a Necro trying to stack things. Shatters destroy Necro minions, and we don’t have enough escape/stunbreak/stability to escape their massive daze bursts.
